This is the first craft-able back piece that you can also set your stats on, so I would recommend making them for future characters and just hide it until a better skin comes along.

War/Invasions are not organized sterile events. The planning of it might be, but the actual reality of it…nope. Loud, chaotic, sometimes terrifying….oh yeah.

The problem is most of the events end so quickly you can’t get there in time to help. All of the escort/rescue events need to ‘wait’ until someone shows up to escort them. Getting around the dark torn up LA takes to long when the events only seem to last a minute or two. I got tired of the ‘save the children’ events which are very long so I tried through one whole invasion to do rescues and spent the entire time running around getting nothing done.

I found the event pretty frustrating. Either stick with a zerg and enjoy lots of skill lag, or try and jump around the map to get to the ‘side’ events before they end, usually failing. The marionette was nicely structured, this was just pure chaos.

The only incentive is to get the achievements and the loot, but if they nerf that then there will be no inventive at all. My only hope is that this goes away in two weeks.

Start learning and playing WvW. You will need map completion there as well plus 500 Badges of Honor. If you get in a big WvW guild you can get lots of loot and maybe even a pre-cursor from all those bags.

Personally I would save the Laurels for Ascended recipes and whatever else they put at the laurel merchant that you can’t get any other way like an Ascended Amulet with a magic find infusion. You can also generate a lot of T6 materials trying to forge your Mystic Clover. Therefore get your Gift of Fortune sooner than later.

Finally start keeping an eye out for ways to earn gold. Until they get around to providing a pre-cursor crafting method, you will need a ton of gold to buy one or dump hundreds of gold into the mystic toilet hoping to get one.

Crafting can be challenging for new players, but it doesn’t have to be extremely expensive. With the addition of account magic find, and the demand for T2-T4 crafting materials generated by Ascended crafting, you can craft for very little cost, and sometimes even a profit. Do a Trading Post search on the items you can discover/craft and see what will fetch the highest price (assuming your character doesn’t need it).

I am working on my sixth character now, and every one of them I leveled crafting while I was leveling the character. One profession is always armor, the other varies. I started three characters at once so I could craft all of my own gear. At higher levels you can still craft for profit if your careful.

If you search for dye in the TP, and sort by descending price, you can preview any dye on your current (or previewed) armor. Unfortunately you are forced to only select first through fourth dye, so you might have to concentrate on one piece of armor at a time if you want to check out certain colors on certain parts of the armor.

Gift of exploration is one of the best parts of a Legendary. It proves you literally have been there and done that. I had six before crafting two and a half legendaries. They need to fix the precursor part, that is all. The legendaries that depend on Arah are also a bit unfair, but that is less important than the precursor issue.

I have recently gotten into Fractals and I am only up to reward level 16, but I already have 5 Ascended rings sitting in storage that I got from the bonus chest. I bought one of the two I wanted with pristine fractal relics. Most of my other level 80 characters already have Ascended rings purchased with Laurels, and I do have a level 30 Elementalist that could use two of them.

I cannot sell them or give them to guild mates, should I salvage them? What do you get when salvaging an Ascended ring?

At least three times for me now, and a few times for a friend, we have completely lost the ability to use skills. Swapping weapons has no affect, and even warping does not fix it. You can’t even jump on an arrow cart. The only way to fix it is to leave the zone (which knocks you out of the Marionette event) or let yourself be downed. Has anyone else seen this?

I am guessing maybe it’s related to the area being hard capped. I have not seen it in any other areas, but if anyone has seen it in Bloodtide during the wurm event that might confirm that.

I play every day, even if it’s only to get my daily and craft my Damask. After reset tonight I will be able to finish my first complete set of Ascended armor. I recently got into Fractals, and the infusion slots have been convenient. Being able to apply my own dyes, the light armor I think looks a lot better than my first impressions. The weapons also look very nice, but I do wish you could craft the color of choice and that the recipes where not so expensive.

My biggest challenge is the Dragonite. It’s not that I don’t like temple events or the big boss battles, I just don’t like having to watch and wait for timers or for enough people to show up to do the event. Same for the time gated crafting. I don’t mind the material ‘cost’ of the Ascended so much as I mind being forced into a schedule.

I enjoy WvW, but don’t want to do it all the time. Fortunately there is often a ‘Karma train’ running somewhere, and you can hop on and get plenty of Empyreal. Fractals and Dungeons also reward that and the only schedule problem is finding a decent group.

I think the best way to look at it is do what you want to do and as you get enough materials, tack on another weapon or piece of armor. Personally I think keep lords should return about 4X the dragonite, and maybe have Fractals drop dragonite instead of Empreal or have some kind of exchange system as they clearly did not balance the three vision crystal ingredients very well.

OK, so everything out of the splitter is soulbound, that was my question. I wanted to let another character use the exotic back piece as the current character would not need it having the ascended back piece (and someday infused) instead.

That means I should just transmute the quiver with the winged exotic for now, then split the wings off BEFORE I infuse it. I save some gems but lose the exotic, which is useless anyway unless I am looking to change back piece stats.

Repeatedly killing mobs that spawn cannot be bannable so why would killing event mobs be banable? Some events are so hard you cannot finish them alone and you could ‘farm’ all day, so if you just don’t happen to stand in the circle how can that be a crime?

I personally think that achievement points should JUST be about permanent achievements. Daily ‘tasks’ to earn Laurels and other bonuses are fine, but basing the leader boards on who is the most grindy of them all is just lame.

The platform with Tixx has let me finally complete this jumping puzzle. That and not having to wait for the whole group to finish. You pretty much have to be running almost all the way to Tixx with a handful of spots were you can pause to get lined up correctly. I recommend the Gingerbread men path.

The presents are the really hard part. You have to get clean jumps every time and get lucky with what presents are going to disappear. Once you get to the top of the presents the rest is easy.

I was fine with crafting until they added Ascended that where account bound and time gated the T7 materials. I made a ton of gold crafting exotic armor for those to lazy to do it themselves. Now I just sell my Damask since I am making 5+ gold a day with a few clicks.

I love my Dire armor on my necro. Super tanky and tremendous condition damage in crowds. Not fantastic in 1v1, but one build can’t have everything. Tuning crystals really take advantage of all that toughness and vitality. Bursting sigils are great as well on the weapons.

They obviously DON’T want 20 damask a day being made for whatever reason but lets all be realistic, the only reason anyone would do this is to sell the materials on the TP and cash in. Seriously, if someone had the situation I mentioned above, they would NOT be making 20 sets of Ascended….they would be making one set 20 times faster (then possibly multiple sets after). Those 2 reasons are the obvious reason why they don’t allow it. Sure the guy with 20 characters can get Ascended armor, but is it fair he could do it 20 times faster than a player with one character? See how that logic twists both ways?

I have 10 characters and see both sides of this. Alt-aholics have a clear advantage in material gathering (both nodes and once per day items) and Anet felt that advantage (and the possibility of abuse) was too high in this case. To be honest, I have no intention of pursuing Ascended armor as I don’t do Fractals and see no reason to need it.

Ascended gear is account bound, so baring ridiculously lucky drops, anyone who wants it MUST level and craft it themselves. If this is the case WHY did they make the intermediate materials trade-able? If they had stayed account bound the only reason left for time gating is to force people to wait for their gear. Since they did NOT do this, those with money can buy all the materials they want and have as much armor as they can grind out the vision crystals for. That eliminates the forcing people to wait for their gear reason, so again I ask, what is the point of time gating?

All it is doing is making a brief market of opportunity for people to sell their daily tickets to the impatient rich players. Sooner rather then later, Damask will come down in price to be almost non-profitable just like the other materials did, so again I ask what is the point?

I can’t afford to buy my Damask and I am really annoyed at having to wait 6 weeks for a set of not so good looking armor so I have just sold mine to recoup the leveling cost. I really enjoy crafting, and I have saved up all the materials needed for a set, but I cannot craft one because Anet feels they have to tell me WHEN to craft. I thought I was supposed to be able to play this game how I wanted to?

More competition would cause the prices of the time gated mats to fall, but cause the price of the materials required to make them to rise. Currently the materials required to make deldrimor steel, spiritwood, damask, and elonian leather are much cheaper than the resultant materials. This price difference is because of the time gate, and it is the reason casual players can afford ascended crafting at all. If the time gates were removed, demand would quickly overtake supply on materials such as cotton scraps, cotton prices would skyrocket, and casual players wouldn’t be able to afford crafting damask.

Hardcore players will typically play for hours/day while casual players play for minutes/day. If a hardcore player plays for 6 hours/day and a casual player plays for 20 minutes per day, the time gate allows that casual player to keep up.

If someone only plays 20 minutes a day they can’t possibly have the gold for materials to craft ascended gear unless they are buying gold with gems. They also might not even have the laurels to buy the recipes.

Currently the market is pretty saturated with T7 metal, wood, and leather and the prices of the T2-T5 raw materials are very reasonable because clearly many people are farming them. The same would happen with cloth. Yes, there would be a huge spike at first, but that wouldn’t hurt anyone as everyone can go out there and ‘farm’ their own. Over time the prices would stabilize to somewhere higher than they where, just like the metals, woods, and leathers did. This would in no way hurt the casual player.

Crafting T7 materials should require work, either earning the gold to buy the ingredients or gathering them yourself. I am fine with either, but limiting the player to only one craft a day does not increase the difficulty, it just annoys players, some to the point of just punting on ascended gear altogether.

The daily achievements WHERE setup to get players playing and spread around every day. I figure out what I want to do every day based on those achievements. Since ascended crafting came out I now have to buy, refine, and craft materials every day BEFORE I start working on the daily to make sure I don’t forget.

My major drive for Laurels was for ascended rings and infusions, but thankfully I stopped spending them in fear of exactly what they did with ascended recipes. Most of my infusion slots sit empty because of the ‘Laurel gating’.

I am pretty sure ‘Ecto gating’ was done to keep the little man in the T7 marketplace and therefore in the running for the gear upgrade race. I think this is wrong because Vision Crystal’s pretty much already do that. If market stability was really their goal then time gating would be removed once the demand for T7 materials cools down in the TP, but it won’t be.

EDIT: Oh I know the reason — it’s to boost the daily log-in numbers.

This should be obvious to anyone with half a brain…..and player that ALSO have the other half realize this is necessary for ANet to potentially generate any revenue beyond original game sales. If players don’t log in, they don’t spend money on gems.

Like it or not, vilifying Anet for wanting to generate revenue to keep the servers running is very narrow minded (and very unrealistic).

Making us log in EVERY day does NOT get them any revenue. People buy stuff in the gem store because they LIKE it. People login to play the game to have FUN. Time gating is NOT fun. Collecting the small mountain of materials needed for ascended gear takes plenty of time already, no need to tax us further with once a day crafting.

People sitting on large piles of materials would be able to craft their ascended armor NOW if it wasn’t for this stupid time gated crafting. They have played the game and earned the materials so why should they have to wait? More casual or newer players just don’t have these materials and the work to get them will naturally time gate them. The super casual players may never get the materials to craft ascended armor so why do we need to make their lives even harder by forcing them to login every day to craft their ascended materials???

Time gating is giving money to players who do NOT want ascended armor or who choose to wait for all the impatient rich players to buy their ascended materials.

Why can’t we just let the TP pay the farmers for their grind instead? Everyone is already forced to grind out their vision crystals AND level crating to 500 anyway so PLEASE remove the stupid T7 time gating.

I have noticed that I no longer hear the Inquest Golem Mark II fist pounding sounds which I used to use as a queue to dodge. I normally stand outside the machine gun fire radius so maybe that sound’s affect radius has been reduced, but it shouldn’t be because it does affect you WAY out.

Dawn took me over 1500, Dusk took me over 2100, but 3200 more later has shown nothing so I stopped for the most part. I sold both and with selling the left overs I think I am still up about 100g. The forge is a cruel mistress best left to the lucky or rich.

Crafting to 500 is not just for one weapon. How many characters really only use one weapon? I would think most use three or four. I built only two for my ranger (axe and horn) as I already had Kudzu, and I build staff, sceptor, horn and axe for my necro. I was even tempted to build a set of daggers as well, but decided to start hording my Laurels and Vision Crystals until I see how much grind will be required for armor.

I think that the only thing new about the new Legendaries should be their skins. I don’t think old Legendaries should somehow be devalued or turned into crafting components for new ones. The only issues I have with the current Legendaries is the RNG for precursors and the limited selection of skins. There is no good Legendary for say a necro or dark themed character. How many people really want to shoot unicorns? Finally the imbalance of difficulty for the dungeon tokens to get the gifts is not very fair. Arah is just a bit to difficult compared with the other dungeons where people farm them daily.

Legendaries are supposed to show some kind of accomplishment assuming you didn’t buy it outright. I think two crafted legendaries per character with map completion is completely fair. The WvW part is a joke at 500 badges. Most of the work is gold/material accumulation so a relatively little exploration is not that big a deal with the only truly hard part being WvW exploration based on what server your on.

Gather on multiple characters, craft the one thing per day, sell the surplus gathered, buy more of what was just crafted, repeat daily. Or just gather and sell and then just buy what you’d craft – it’s usually the same or cheaper.

Not a hard concept. Those with more and more alts make that process easier and easier.

The prices on the refined T7 are to high right now and anyway I don’t want to have to avoid ANet’s decision by paying through the nose. I don’t have a problem, and even prefer ‘earning’ the armor on my own, I just don’t like the kitten one per day model. It makes ascended crafting to tedious.

If their motive is to ‘make you wait’, then players with Alts wait X times longer so we feel the pain of their decision that much more. With armor it is much worse than weapons. Each weapon is ‘atomic’ in that you can use it immediately, but with armor you need to build a complete set before the runes take affect unless you just build an exact match to the exotic armor you are wearing. Most of my alts have more than one set of armor also. This means I have LOTS of armor to potentially upgrade, but at one ‘Bolt of Damask’ a day my patience may wear out to fast.

Every day I login first as my huntsman to craft three T7’s, not even sure I need the materials, but because I might some day then I have to commit the time and resources. Once ascended armor drops that becomes two (or three alts if jewelry drops) and it gets even worse.

This complaint is coming from someone who loves to craft, what must all the players who have ignored crafting as a waste of time think? I used to spend hours a day crafting for profit, and I was fine with that, but now I can’t do that anymore and I have to craft for myself instead, one tiny piece at a time.

Currently you can only craft ONE T7 PER TYPE PER DAY, I am suggesting adding PER crafter toon. If you don’t have the materials you cannot craft them so creating a ton of alternates does not speed anything up.

If I only want to play on the weekends, maybe all weekend even, I can only craft two Lumps of Mithrillium a week. Why do I need to logon every week night to get the other five? It’s already account bound as are all the materials needed in a vision crystal so I don’t see why we have to play these games.

It’s up to me to decide how to accumulate the materials for vision crystals and how long that takes so why does Anet need to throttle me on T7 crafting? All Ascended gear MUST be ‘earned’ by playing the game so why do I need to jump through the stupid craft every day hoop?

I do happen to play pretty much every day anyway, but I have to worry about forgetting to do my T7 crafting chore today or I miss out on the opportunity. I should be able to just play the game letting materials pile up until I feel like crafting then craft everything I have the materials for.

Time gating of T7 production has limited us to ONE of each type per day. For armor with six pieces times say five alts times about five ‘bolts’ per piece that’s 150 days at least. They should make it at least one per ‘crafter’ per day so my tailor, leather worker, and armorsmith can be working on 3 sets in parallel.

Gathering the materials is NOT the problem, the T7 crafting is. NO, I don’t want to pay someone else to do it when I have the alts to do it myself. I invested the time and materials to get to 500 for all three professions, why can’t I use that???

Most of the work IS gathering all the materials so I don’t see why I have to logon EVERY day to craft ONE T7 or be forced to wait 150 days to craft them all once I get the materials.

Forcing me to logon doesn’t get them any more money, selling things in the TP that I want gets them money.

Why shouldn’t time gating be per character? If I take the time to level up a weapon smith, huntsman and artificer why cant they all make one of each time gated material?

Each alt can do the Dragonite events once a day and open chests once a day which is alt friendly, same with gathering.

I am fearing that ascended armor is going to follow in the footsteps of ascended weapons and be not only account bound but require Vision Crystals. Dedicating almost all of my play time I managed to craft five weapons at a rate of one per week which I gave to my two most used alts. Then I burnt out, and build a sixth a couple weeks later. Most don’t even have infusions because I started saving my laurels for ascended armor recipes.

If every piece of armor needs a vision crystal plus time gated components it will take an eternity to build 4 or 5 sets of armor for my top 5 alts. For weapons, the current system is not to bad, but with armor requiring SIX pieces, this is going to get ridiculous.

I am expecting many will say it’s not really needed, but with ascended weapons making a 5-10% difference, the armor will probably be even more important. I spend a lot of time in WvW, and I have to believe a fully ascended player will have a significant advantage over mere exotics.

And gasoline: yea, I did farm all my mats for my first legendary (lots of cursed shore) but bought the precursor after wasting about 400 to 500 rares. Actually, the crazy precursor price combined with a heavy DR policy is what drove me to sit down and take time to learn a bit how TP trading worked.

Between DR and RNG for precursors anyone who wants a legendary or three is pretty much FORCED to learn some way of making LOTS of money on the TP. I crafted exotics for profit which took a lot of work, but I did end up with two and almost a third legendary until they nerfed me with account bound ascended crafting.
