I don’t have data to back this up, so I’m being up front that this is just my opinion. But what I’m thinking is that the gem store would do a lot better with revenues overall if they lowered the prices on most items. With many items being multiple hundreds of gems, a person has to carefully weigh if they want to spend $10 or more for a shiny cosmetic upgrade or a convenience item. Sure there are folks with a lot of disposable income where $10 here, $20 there, is no big deal. But for me and probably lots of others that’s not the case.
When I look at the example of things like the Google Play store where many apps are 99 cents, that doesn’t seem like a lot of income for the developer, but they can make up for it in volume because the threshold is low enough that many more people will impulse buy that app or figure 99 cents isn’t a major loss if the app stinks.
I believe the same thing would apply with the GW2 gem store. If convenience items like the unlimited picks were the equivalent of 99 cents, I’d get them for my characters. If outfits were 99 cents, I’d likely have purchased all of them by now.
TLDR: A higher amount of micro transactions could bring in more revenue over time than a smaller amount of higher margin transactions.
I totally agree with this. I think if gem store prices where a quarter of what they are now they would probably see 10x or more sales revenue. Who wouldn’t pay a buck for a magic carpet?
My DNS won’t resolve www.gw2craftgold.com this morning, is anyone else having that issue?
EDIT: Working again now, not sure what happened. Guess my DNS had some temporary issues, which is not new…

I just want magic find to make a difference.
Magic find makes a huge difference.
I think he meant a meaningful difference. I’m sure across the board there are noticeable differences, but as a single player I don’t notice anything.
It sucks when you use magic find booster, birthday booster and food etc. to boost your magic find and not run into a single exotic.
I’ve ran down entire 24 hour birthday boosters without a single exotic drop.
My MF is up at 160% plus 30% from an amulet, and I have certainly seen more rares drop than last year before the MF rework. Exotics I can’t say that I have noticed a difference, but they drop so infrequently it’s hard to tell. I have been playing causally since beta and not a single precursor. A friend of mine has gotten a handful, but he is a turbo powered hoover up in the top 100 achievers.
I just had to put down my best friend of 16 and a half years this Saturday and for those who are not pet owner’s you cannot imagine how big a hole they leave behind when they go. I think a general pet memorial someplace out of the way in the game would be wonderful.
The whole promise that I thought I read before GW2 came out was that your actions would make a difference in the world. Yes, you can affect event chains, but they just reset over and over again, so no real change. Zhaitan was defeated yet Orr is still a zombie zone.
I think what is really needed is something like what has been mentioned already, instanced versions of the world, or different mega-servers for different levels of story progression. Let Orr be dead until you kill Zhaitan, then let it be reborn. The players could go back if they want by resetting there story lines or chapters or whatever.
I like the Dry Top area, but I hate that they had to kill off the beautiful Zephyr Sanctum, which was probably my favorite update. How will all of the new players or returning players ever experience Zephyr Sanctum???
Why is it not resizable? I understand it needs to work on lower resolutions, but for those with the screen space why can we stretch it or have an option/button for much bigger window???
The new UI makes some things better like being to see what you have bought while ‘shopping’ and not losing your place and having to search again, HOWEVER, the tiny scrolled lists are REALLY BAD. There should be a link/button to expand the lists WITHOUT losing your place in search.
Limiting the view of buy/sell orders is just plain BROKEN, not a bad design decision. If the list size on the screen must be fixed then add some filters so you can limit the ‘query’ and at least be able to find your stuff.
If you can get a group together, farming the Flame Legion event south of pig iron mine can be pretty profitable as it scales up nicely. Stand up on the wall outside of the circle so you don’t actually take the place back. In general killing Flame Legion as part of an event seems to yield much better drop rates than just killing random spawns as they seem to be pretty nerfed.
Other than being a little dorky looking, I would think these would be great for new players, much like the rest of the feature pack.
Is anyone else seeing account wide commander tags? I thought a long time before giving up 100 gold last night for a tag, and now it’s NOT account wide. Did they not advertise that tags would be account wide?
EDIT: It becomes account wide after loading the character with the tag.

Both the website and teamspeak server seem to have disappeared, not great timing with WvW Season 3 next week…
Destroying Lions Arch really bothered me. It also scattered all the players as that used to be the social spot for most servers. Megaservers kinda did that also. More and more beautiful landscape tarnished by Living Story is getting pretty depressing. If they destroy the Grove I am going to get really upset.
I think people are probably a little burned out on Dry Top. Farming geodes week after week doing the same events over and over again got old for me even though the rewards where pretty good and it’s the best way to farm dragonite.
Guilds have been formed to do Tequatl, maybe you need to form a Dry Top guild, and with the Megaserver improvements you will automatically be grouped together.
My first insect came really quickly, but the second seemed to take forever and I was thinking of giving up. Then I finally got it, and now that I have my two amber weapons I have since gotten three insects that I don’t really need. It just shows how bad RNG is. I am really tired of Dry Top and grinding out another 400+ geodes for another recipe is just not worth it, right now anyways.
Having to hide all the lower level recipes EVERY time you launch the game is a royal pain. Preferably each character would ‘memorize’ what craft levels have been hidden, but at least the account should. Finding all of the time gated crafting every day is tedious.
What would REALLY be nice is listing things I have recently crafted at the top or having a sort option based on last craft time and the ability to hide anything not crafted in the last XX days.
Stupid Norton 360 decided to block the GW2 client when it was on Auto mode and never gave me any indication it was doing so.

Is anyone else getting: Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…
To continue the tradition of lousy selection for sword skins in this game.
Where in the LS do yo have to do Fractals to finish it? The parts and pieces for the backpiece are rewards for the LS. You can complete the LS and build the exotic backpiece without ever stepping foot in the Fractals. The Fractal relics are only for creating the ascended version of the backpiece. If you arent doing fractals you dont need ascended items. The stat gain for the ascended vs. exotic back piece is almost nothing.
The stats on Ascended Back pieces are actually quite a lot higher than exotics. Much more bang for the buck than Ascended armor.
They finally address this issue and then DON’T let you use it in Solo Q? DUH!!!
I would not want to see it in WvW, and they only added an ON/OFF switch so I am glad it’s not supported there personally, but I would think that would make WvW perform better for some people.
I got a fossil very early and crafted an amber weapon, but I want a match for it as it was a torch, but I have opened a ton of chests since then and nothing but scarves and recipes. Why is this drop rate so low? It’s not like they are ascended weapons or anything, and they are account bound so there is no profit to be made.
They must realize how much most players hate RNG so why continue to torture us like this? I am pretty sick of spending hours every day grinding out geodes from the same events over and over again. I am afraid if I stop now, player interest will evaporate while I take a break and when I come back it will take twice as long or worse.
Please double or triple the drop rate or give us some other way of getting them.
I have noticed a trend in PvP that players tend to roll the smallest Asura they can in order to make them harder to target and even see when they are a necro hiding in their minions.
Targeting has always been a challenge for me with human characters moving so much compared to npcs, and this tactic seems to be kind of cheap to me. Everything else is forced to be ‘equal’ in PvP gear wise so why not size wise?
Should players be ‘scaled’ in PvP to remove that advantage?
It took a bit longer than I wanted with my necro but I didn’t even notice the menders until I noticed the statues health going up as I was to busy trying not to get knocked around. My only complaint is that I REALLY hate CC and they seemed to have thrown in an awful lot of extra CC lately. I don’t know why but CC just makes me rage.
Try your predator on a Norn, the fire aura is incredible and I think it has the best sound affects and one of the few that does. I think these two things outweigh the short footsteps trail by far. I also don’t think your need to be on fire unless your in attack mode.
Nooope. You can trade insects for Sandy Bags… Thanks ANet….
So all the lucky saps complaining about having nothing to do with their fossils are given a solution, but the RNG gods still afflict the rest of us.
What about fractals? What about Guild missions? What about PvP team battles or WvW or GvG? Seems to me your guild is skipping a lot of content there, all of it requiring voice com for top performance.
Farming geodes and opening sandstorm chests has actually put my Dragonite supply ahead of Empreal. They clearly weighted the chests heavier on the Dragonite, probably to make up for it’s difficulty to get elsewhere without requiring a group.
With Zephry Sanctum round two they added more difficult crystals. I got all the easy ones (or the top tier anyway), but punted on trying to get to all the hard crystals because some where just not worth the tick on the wall. Maybe have 30 easy coins and 10 hard coins letting casuals go for one and he hard core go for both. And let the top tier by 100% of both, not 99%.
I saw T4 two or three times playing last night. I managed to get one Amberite weapon crafted, and now I would like a scepter to go with my torch so I need to start all over again. The smaller events can be done solo or with a little help and there seems to be enough of them to make T4 without huge zergs present.
Dry Top is one of the best areas for ‘farming’ dragonite now so I would think it would live on to some extent after LS has moved on. Megaservers gave new life to the Orrian zones and the temple events there so I would expect Dry Top to be just another option for the farming zergs to frequent.
I have wanted a flaming GW2 Dragon T-shirt since before beta but they won’t sell them for some reason.
Windows 7 Dual Monitor 1920×1200 in full screen windowed mode.
Bags shown, not full, mix of 15s and 20s. Large interface, pretty much max graphics.
Has not happened to much lately, but it did it a few times.
I am so thorothly disenganged from this content.i liked the previous stories, but this I just cant even be bothered finishing. Being forced to play Mario Bros to finish the story…… well I just do not find it rewarding my gameplay time.
Big thumbs down so far..
There is no Mario Bros required to finish the story. You have to use only a few aspect skills through all of the episodes combined, and those that you do are ridiculously easy. The final fight was really annoying with all the CC that the villain throws at you, but you can literally run up a ramp to get back to him, no need to jump at all. Kill him with range and dodge/avoid his skills is all that is required.
The third dimension used in the new map certainly confuses me a lot, but I have always been spatially challenged when it comes to navigating the more complex maps. It’s more of a puzzle than a jumping contest, only chasing coins and diving goggles requires skilled jumping, but it has NOTHING to do with the story.
Exploring the Bazaar with the aspects was a lot of fun. Having a limited number of jumps was not. Long trains of jumps are not fun either.
Earning your bling in game to me would seem to make it that much more enjoyable or rather carrying around a Legendary you bought with RL cash would seem pretty lame. Of course if your filthy rich you could buy all the shinies you wanted, but would it really be that fun?
On the flip side I cannot see someone playing Guild Wars if they cant afford $10 to spend on gems once and a while. How do they pay for the computer or the power or internet bill for that matter?
Personally I buy the occasional item in the store with cash, but I have never converted gems to gold or gold to gems for that matter.
Dragonite is the hardest of the materials you cannot buy. Silk is what costs the most of those you can. I have two light sets and one medium set minus the head piece.
depends on playstyle, but dragonite is really easy if you are used to doing highlevel world bosses.
empyreal is easy if you do dungeons or wvw a lot
bloodstone is easy if you kill lots of champs
I prefer to play solo most of the time being able to do what I want when I want. Dragonite always requires a mob (world events/WvW keeps). That makes Dragonite my gating factor because I can always harvest Empreal from chests or WvW camps.
Megaservers has improved the world events turnout, but they are on a schedule so I only do them when I happen to be around.
Dragonite is the hardest of the materials you cannot buy. Silk is what costs the most of those you can. I have two light sets and one medium set minus the head piece.
You can get Empreal and Dragonite taking camps, towers, and keeps in WvW and Empreal is also available in chests all over the place in small quantities.
As a new player, crafting was a lot of fun for me, and even now on my seventh character I am leveling him as an armorsmith and a weaponsmith. It can be expensive and getting all the materials you need to level your crafting could make it very difficult to keep your gear matched to your level.
The Gift of Mastery is a way to convert your in game ‘achievements’ into a Legendary. Generally achievements are not meant to be converted to gold, just all the loot you acquire on the way to those achievements is if you don’t hoard it.
I would really like to see some form of inventory management included with a templates feature. I doubt we would get to put weapons into a template and get them out of our inventory, BUT maybe we could reserve slots or bags in our inventory for gear that is ‘templated’ so we can switch from one handed weapons to two handed weapons WITHOUT the off hand ending up at the top of your inventory with all the other ‘loot’ that has yet to be sold/salvaged.
Maybe we need a new type of bag that reserves slots for ‘gear’ and once there it has to be manually removed, and NOTHING drops into it either if your other bags overflow.
With the new PvP reward tracks, you can use them to get some dungeon tokens. Almost enough I thing for one Gift, but not for two. You just need to unlock them with a story mode run, or wait until they open on a schedule.
HoD since beta, two first place server achievments, 16 Spring Tourney achievments, no chest.
It would be awesome if ANet would create a courtesy pop-up box for people making mistakes of this caliber.
……There IS a popup when salvaging ANYTHING RARE or higher…..the fact that people click past warnings without thought is NOT something Anet can (or, IMO, should) fix.
Yes, but how many rares and exotics do you salvage? Closing that warning becomes habit after a while so there needs to be a higher level of warning on higher level items. I have wanted to turn that one off as I ‘farm’ ectos and dark matter a lot and it gets really annoying. Salvaging account/soul bound items should trigger a prompt for username as that is rarely done.
I personally like the various dream catcher skins so I crafted the one that used to be magic find and now lets you choose any stats and slapped a different skin on it. (Quiver of a Thousand Arrows)
Not sure if I can infuse it now, might have to strip the skin off first.
This should probably be in the necro forum, but my necro loves her dire ascended armor. It’s great for survivability and taking on crowds of enemies. Not good for 1v1 unless it’s going to be a long battle. Slap on some runes of scavenging and sigils of bursting for even more condition damage. Staff, axe, and horn plus wells for utilities and Plague Form for your super power. Rare veggie pizza and Master tuning crystals let all that condition damage do even more. NOT good for mega boss battles however with the conditions nerfed at 25 stacks.
