Over 100 obtained pristine relics in total. Out of these runs(which were pretty much only 28, 38 and 48’s), i got a Fractal Greatsword, a Mace and a Pistol. You might say “at least you got a GS”. Yeah, but i’ve been banking it for about 3 or 4 months now, as i can’t use it on any of my characters. Well, besides my lv33 warrior which i finally gave the sword.
Been doing fractals since they were released and still haven’t gotten the weapons which i wanted and could use. 1 or 2 swords(heh), a focus and the staff.
Why didn’t you do the same treatment to fractal weapons as you did to the rings? Instead of having a random fractal weapon drop, have a fractal weapon TOKEN drop which you then use to buy the fractal weapon you want.
I’m slowly thinking about quitting fractals once and for all now. Didn’t get a skin since the last 2 months either. Please consider something like this, developers.

the izerker issue isnt that it is missing. it had a flat damage reduction on top of any missing problem.
unless in some way test dummies were given a crap ton of toughnesss. tested over long periods while figuring specs in LA (no hits miss in LA and you cant crit from what i know) my damage went from 4400 high/4000 low to 3300 high/2900 low, same gear same spec.
i was testing the night before patch then the next day. if you keep spouting off about “i think the problem is that he is just missing” you are just spreading misinformation and are not helping . while izerker may have an issue missing he also got a flat damage reduction.

My Phantasmal Berserker used to hit around 6k with only one +15% phantasm damage trait and only around +70% crit damage a few months back, with a ~6 second cooldown on it’s attack.
Now it’s 1500-3500 max with +117% crit damage and more power than before. This truly is irritating.

Bump for topic issue still not resolved after 3 months. A reminder that this actually happened before, after they had implemented fractals into the game. It was fixed again after a month. This time, it’s not, after well over 2 months.
I just recorded around 7 minutes of footage showing some phantasm damage @ 117% crit damage and 3335 attack. If there’s enough interest, i might upload it.

They better freaking do. It’s sad to see it hit only 2000 to 3000 damage MAX with ~116% crit damage and 3300+ attack power pretty much consistently. Usually even less. The 2-3k damage is with all hits being crits, even.
Phantasmal Berserker is currently a joke of a supposed damage skill.

Both Berserker and Soldier are quite viable for PvE. It mainly depends on what your group consists of. I usually run Berserker gear/trinkets and 30 in inspiration for the group utilities while the rest of my build/utilities are damage oriented. Can still do very good DPS while bringing almost all the utility a mesmer can bring.
Sometimes, though only very rarely, i swap to my cleric or soldier gear or simply swap characters when the group is very bad/weak, as i feel that my guardian(~1500 healing power) is simply more superior in the boon/healing support department.

Can also run sword instead of focus and put in SIGILS OF SUPERIOR SPEED into your weapons(10s swift on enemy kill) for permanent swiftness in a pure farming set.
Full berserker gear, recharge your Mantra of Pain between fights. Swordsman hits for 5-6k and up with that setup. Your greatsword surge should hit for 3k if all 3 crit, sword autoattack should do around 3-3,5k on the final hit if crit. Pump as much crit chance as possible(the precision +250 weapon sigil), precision food/maintenance oil etc.
Mantra of pain also should do around 3k crits.
AoE’s: I-berserker, Mind Stab, Mirror blade to some extent, Mind Wrack(Deceptive Evasion for easy clone generation), Cry of Frustration(does enough damage with full berserkers to assure tagging usually), Sword auto, Blurred Frenzy…..
Aoe farming isn’t hard at all as mesmer. It’s easier than people say, especially with being this much cannon.

In a group and where’s lots of dodging involved, i’d pick the vigor-on-shatter trait instead of the cooldown one. Actually if i only put 10 in Inspiration, i would definitely use that trait. You can easily stack over a minute of Vigor on yourself with the Dueling 5 trait and this one. It’s ridiculously powerful. It gives your whole group pretty much permanent Vigor(double endurance regen, double dodges pretty much) and is overlooked VERY often.

Each guild mission type becomes available through an upgrade that is researched in the guild tech tree. The first one is Guild Bounties, which does require Art of War level 5.

I’ve been using almost the same exact build for fractals for a while(was trying out full mantra DPS 30/30/0/0/10 before).
It is good, EXCEPT for the fact that you didn’t pick at least 5 in illusions. Why would you NOT pick at least 5 in Illusions? Drop 10 Domination and put it into 10 Illusions instead, then i’ll fully approve of this.
You lose: 100 power(neglible, not much), -20% GS skill cooldowns
You gain: -20% cooldown on ALL clone/phantasm summoning skills(that includes Mirror Blade+Berserker+Warden etc.) and whatever you pick as the Minor Illusions trait(i pick +3% damage per summoned phantasm/clone usually).
i.e. i-Warden will have a 15 second cooldown with both -20% traits.
I also run full berserker gear just like OP here, with Omnomberry Pie(66% chance to heal on crit food)+Precision Oil. Good DPS, good group support, lots and lots of reflects. I also put Inspiration I as a trait sometimes when i know people go down a lot(like high level Legendary Grawl Shaman). Sometimes i also put in Temporal Enchanter, which makes the revive-Feedback last like 5 seconds(1-2 seconds more than normal) and the normal Feedback around 8 seconds. So if you have a dead corpse near you, that alone makes up for almost 50% uptime of reflect and you also have Temporal Curtain, Warden and your normal Feedback.

I bring the damage to make up for all the Soldier geared people i get in my groups(Mainly Warriors and Guards) and i bring tons of control, interrupt, combo fields and general support while doing extremely good ranged and melee damage and surviving pretty good.
If i ran something like CM, i’d probably spec phantasm tank with the focus trait, for reflects as reflecting stuff there is just so much better.

While i do the same, i don’t go out and act like a complete bullfreakingdog jerk and make people do what i want. Also judging from your past threads/posts, you must be a complete and utter carry.
I think of instance creating as a “safety-net” when i join pugs. I don’t enter long instances if i’m not party creator, because there is always the chance of some kitten kicking you for someone else or something.

They share your CURRENT power, precision, condition damage, healing power, precision, toughness/vitality(not sure how those scale with phantasms).
Pretty sure it’s like that, because my Berserker hits for 6-7k consistently in my full damage build and only like 2000-2500 in a tank build.
For weapon damage…well i don’t know, i’d guess they also use your weapon power or something. Didn’t test that out yet, i’ll try with a blue GS and an exotic one to compare or something.

We had our arguably best defensive trait nerfed to complete and utter uselessness just recently and now you’re asking for a health nerf?
Just for information: Before, Illusionary Membrane would give you 3 seconds of protection every time you received an additional “tick” of regeneration. Means, if for example a guardian or ranger put down their regen applying fields, we could stack up to 30 seconds of protection quite easily(which you could then spread to your group with Signet of Inspiration).
It still works the same way, but with a FIFTEEN SECOND COOLDOWN added to it. Extreme stealth nerf. Now it’s a useless trait.

My 15 AR lasted me up to around Fractal 22-23. If you don’t have 15 AR by that point you’re just a liability because you will get hit with Agony and you will go down. Why would anyone want to play with you on their team?
Maybe because i deal a lot of damage while not being a liability on my team?
I’ve done up to 22 now with 10 AR just fine. Being a Mesmer helped, since i could almost completely negate any (non Maw) agony that i’d get hit with (if i get hit) and despite me using a full zerker 900 tough/vit setup, i’ve usually been the one to go down the least amount of times(minus pvt warrior/guardians and the like). The only 2 times i actually got downed by Agony was on Maw, which is unavoidable as we all know. I now have 15 AR(no Asc. Backpack yet) and now it’s even easier to not die for me.

I’d like to know if there’s any guilds out there that specifically focus on FotM/Dungeon groups and the like, because after several months of “PUGging”, i have decided i have enough. Also because finding (stable) groups for FotM Lv20+ is just getting harder and harder, as everyone wants you to have 15-20+ AR for that, for example.

Restorative Mantras and Mantra of Recovery scale with 20% of your healing power and their base healing is around 2700(with 20 Inspiration) You can’t reach 3400+ heal on MoR even with completely maxed out healing power(around 1400 with 25x Sigil of Life).
A more realistic number would be 3000 per heal on MoR with ~1000 healing power. But then, with THAT bad scaling, healing power only affects your regeneration, which has a MUCH better healing power scaling value, but that alone doesn’t justify sacrificing everything else for maxed healing power. Also the Water rune’s #6 effect is pretty bad, why would you even use it when there’s many better alternatives out there? Anything else would be better in that place(Runes of Altruism are pretty kitten good, especially with such a low cooldown healing skill, check it out).
This is all my honest opinion, consider it.

Now let’s see, the same span of 30 seconds, you use full glass canon GS build. I use 30/30/0/0/10, which means my iBerserker CD is about 16 seconds, my auto attack deals around 3k-4k with 3 ticks combined. You see, in 30 seconds, I can generate 2 iBerserkers, each deals 10k+ damage on every single mob in aoe range while, in the mean time, I can spam my auto attack for extra damage. You’ve got mob zerg coming? F1! 4k! 4k! 4k!
…are you serious? Are you sure you didn’t mix up a warrior with the mesmer?
Those numbers that keep “increasing on the same spot” are CUMULATIVE damage. Different numbers flying in different directions/popping up somewhere else is damage from different skills/people. Your GS autoattack deals maybe 900-1400 damage at most. Possibly a bit more with full berserkers and might stacks, but 4k? Not even with a hundred might stacks.
I-Berserker also deals like 3-4k at most(!!) with full berserkers(and +30% damage traits), IF it managed to hit(or rather, live enough to strike once).

Yes, runes can give you +40% in total. You can also use 2 major water or monk for the last 10%.

I don’t really see a point anymore other than potentially taking projectile hits, since we can’t really make mobs follow us. I could see it being alright in a toughness/healing power phantasm heavy(perma regen)/ mantra healing/focus reflecting(Inspiration VIII) build.
Or going for disables, which also isn’t bad for trash mobs, which i never tried, though, since everything is so inferior to shattering right now.Illusionary Membrane has been nerfed to death, so we can’t really protection stack anymore, UNLESS mobs decide to hit us with fast attacks while we have chaos armor and get lucky.
You right about Membrane, however that only semi hurt mez tank builds. Was annoying as hell yes, but with a bit of change to my tank mez it was not prob at all.
Second no i can hold mobs on me for the first 20 secs of a fight easy. Which trash mobs are usually dead by then.
Third on boss’s I know how to lock down them so most of them become useless.
Any boss that mainly use long range is auto useless. Any boss that use melee I can control still pretty well so they aim at me and not at team.
Only boss’s I have trouble with holding is the big ones that just keep going all over the place like lupi. However with them I never die and can revive people even once their dead with out me going down.
Basically for most thing I completely control and for others I keep us from whipping no matter the boss.
(I dont do spvp really)
But in WvW I toking on 10 people before and won.
Also build so I can sue the environment around me very well, esp in WvW.
Me and chaios my theif friend. Took out a zerg of 30+ in WvW. by tricking them all off a cliff.Basically my tank build can do so many different things.

What i’d like to know, though, are you running berserker or a more defensive(high toughness) gear setup? I used to run a high toughness gear setup before, but mobs still liked to ignore me most of the time, even when actively attacking/kiting/healing. Also, by locking down bosses, i suppose you’re not talking about interrupting their attacks, because i don’t see a relialable way of breaking 5-8 stacks of defiant (2-3x mantra, 3-4x diversion, 1x pistol/GS/focus/sword OH) consistently.
When i kite bosses, they always liked to simply ignore me after a short while and go for others or maybe i just didn’t pay attention to it. I guess i’ll try a “tank” build again sometime just to see how it works. ATM i simply prefer the damage i can get from shatters+the perma vigor/20 might/retal i give to the group.
Also important question: Does PLAYER toughness/vit affect phantasm/clone health? I never got around to check it or really bothered with it and does Signet of Illusions finally work properly(if not, how long does it take for it to take effect)?

I missed this shatter bug, what exactly is bugged about shatter?
Appearently you can increase the damage MW deals by doing shatter inputs quick enough, MW’ing when there’s more than 3 clones out or something. People are claiming 3K per clone without vulnerability/might stacks. Thing is, nobody is actually posting proper footage, it’s mostly claims and dogging combat log screens(which can be easily shopped) from what i’ve seen and read.
There’s a video of a BullKittening GLASS CANNON thief getting instagibbed by a shatter mesmer in less than a second and complaining it’s 2STRONK without considering other potential things that could have damaged him(already existing phantasm, blurred frenzy while MW’ing, fire aoe on crit sigil/air rune, MW itself), when he dealt 70% HP damage to the mesmer himself in less than a second before getting blown up.

For me, it’s just a scheme to make Devs lower Mesmer shatter damage as a whole, lol.

But yeah, before using that build(and leveling), it was terrible. Having to switch to the focus every once in a while just to get a swiftness buff. TERRIBLE.

Tried builds like this in tourney’s. As much as I enjoy using different builds I still find that the inability to put up protection when needed get’s me insta-killed by any class with a burst. The boon uptime is really nice, but if you’re not adding something to the team or you’re unable to carry your own weight in a 1v1 or 2v2 scenario then you shouldn’t be using builds like this.
I haven’t found a place for a support mesmer in pvp yet, pretty much the only role I feel mesmer is effective at is DPS, and there I think with the incoming nerfs “bug fixes” we’re going to go back to mediocre dps in pvp again.
Reflector idea sounds amusing, and I would love to find a Glamour build that actually works. Problem is that the traits are all over the place and you seem to give up so much dps and survivability that it’s just not viable in any real situation
Posting this because i still see too many fellow mesmers using inferior phantasm heavy builds in dungeons.
Dungeons. Forget being any kind of support in spvp. Our burst is sadly the most effective we have for Spvp and outshines any kind of support we can pull out there, ever since Illusionary Membrane got nerfed to hell(3s protection every 15 seconds when you get regeneration? Come on now, Anet, you can do better than that…).
An all out glamour/focus reflection+mantra heal+confusion (20/0/0/30/20) works better in large scale WvW/Fort attacking&defense than something like this.
I personally only use the boon heavy 0/20/0/20/30 build in Dungeons/Fractals. For spvp i use the cookie cutter 20/20/0/0/30 with 4x ogre 2x divinity runes which everybody likes to hate on. Nerf mesmer burst, leave thief burst(which kills bunker guardians in 2 seconds flat and doesn’t leave them open like a “failed” mesmer burst).

Something to add: By simply changing a few traits around, you can act as a “reflector” (or glamour user)
For example Inspiration III > II(Glamour Mastery), Inspiration X(Restorative Mantras) > VIII and maybe pick up Dazzling Glamours in the Illusions tree.
@Sabin: If they remove that much or change signet of inspiration to the worse, i don’t even see any incentive to play mesmer in PvE/WvW anymore.

Dhampyr that solution is only viable in pvp and would nerf #3 into oblivion in pve. There is little point in having a combo finisher unless u have utilities with fields/ fields on a weapon swap which, i admit, most people would have :p If it was a blast finisher though there would be no benefit to the mesmer as GS is a ranged weapon :/
Would be nice to have combo finishers other than leap. The amount of leap we have isn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but actually having a relialable blast finisher would make my Mesmer.
If they’d bring back i-Zerker’s damage back to before they made him useless(i use that term lightly) and make GS#3 a blast finisher or be actually useful, i’d even consider using it again in a 20/20/0/0/30 build, or at all.

Shatter is not all the mesmer have left, people are just copy pasting an easy and effective build, then get used to it.
But yeah, we all know it is coming.

I don’t know what that guy’s videos are about, but i guess it’s about pvp.
They can fix the bugs for all i care, i haven’t made use of them, but if they decide to actively nerf shatters(mainly the boons you can gain), then there is pretty much no reason left to not reroll to guard/warrior/ele if you want to be (really) efficient in group setups.
To the guy above me, been playing mesmer since 3 months and have sticked through, even when they brought in the extreme nerfs, adapted and moved on. But if they decide to nerf the only viable thing that’s left for Mesmers(in PVE, i don’t give a rat’s kitten about the pvp at the moment, since it’s imbalanced from the core), then i don’t know either.
Phantasms are rather subpar right now. I mean really, how long does a phantasm survive in (high level) fractals or any harder dungeon? I’m happy if my i-Warden can land half of it’s attack before getting shreddered. They’re all shatter fodder. i-Berserker does complete kitten damage since they decided to nerf it to the ground, the warlock and swordsman are so much better than that one.
A possible “nerf” to mesmer burst i could think of is, reduce mind wrack’s damage by 33%, reduce the (traited) cooldown of mind wrack from 12 to 9s. Something like that, or simply reduce base damage(which would be the easy way out). Just don’t touch shattered strength. This is the first time we Mesmers can keep up high stacks of might consistently like other classes.

It’s a useless skill. Might as well replace it with a suicide button. It blinks you into an enemy most of the time and if it doesn’t there’s a big red arrow over your head letting anyone with a brain know that you’re the real mesmer.
You’re still here complaining about how bad the best class in the game is? Why haven’t you rolled a glass cannon thief yet.
I certainly wouldn’t trade our downed #2 for any other except the Thief or Ele. 3rd best out of 8 isn’t bad, and ours has some extra, if unreliable benefits in that the clone can potentially distract and help kill.
I guess, but i’d be extremely grateful, if our downed #2 wouldn’t put us in a worse situation than before almost ALL the time. Seriously, every time i use it when i actually get downed near a boss(/aoe) and hope to get out of it, it puts me into deeper Scheiße.
But at least it’s not as “bad” as #2’s like warriors or rangers.

You’re right there. The build i posted is just a little guideline sorta thing, you don’t even need a specific build for all the group buffs/other utilities. One thing i’d really suggest, though, is using the boon % increasing runes, since it’s just too good to pass up.
Wait, restorative shatters apply to allies aswell? kitten i need to look into that one. But even then, its too far in the Inspiration tree for me to pick it up. I can’t live without Shattering Strength or Deceptive Evasion.
Agree about the mantra healing part. It requires some time to get used to, but once you get a feeling for it, you’re hardly ever gonna go down and save party members a lot.
I’d have gone more in detail in my post if i wasn’t so kitten lazy.
You should really write a guide or something, very informative and helpful posts.
Small edit: Note that most if not all phantasms apply regeneration every 3 seconds now, not only duelist. That’s why they nerfed illusionary membrane to death. So 1 phantasm can keep up permanent aoe regen, while 2 or 3 can make it stack up to 30 seconds real quick.

Posting this because i still see too many fellow mesmers using inferior phantasm heavy builds in dungeons. Before you start flaming, think about how much better shattering simply is at the moment, especially because of the added buffs.
As everyone knows, good DPS is the best “support” here in gw2, but as a mesmer you can also easily provide good support without having to invest a lot into other stuff.
I’ve been running a 0/20/0/20/30 build for over a month now, which was already amazing for dungeons, now with the buffed shattered strength, you can pull off some amazing damage while being supportive with boons.

I prefer berserker gear. Runes are 2 superior Water, 2 sup. Monk, 2 major monk/water for 40% boon duration, since boons will be very important in this build. Chocolate omnomberry cream as food (20% boon duration and 40% magic find when having boons as a bonus!!) for +60% total boon duration. Every shatter will give you and nearby party members the Vigor buff for~8 seconds, so your whole party will pretty much have permanent vigor up.
Cry of frustration with 3 clones will give you about 20 seconds of retaliation(+ the vigor) plus every time you land a crit, you also get 5+ seconds of vigor(not sure if boon duration boosts apply here).
Every 3 clone shatter will give you 9 stacks of Might for 16(!) seconds and with those runes, changing your weapon will give you 3 stacks of might for 32 seconds, so switch your weapon as often as you can after using the clone/phantasm summoning skills. I usually let my phantasms attack once before shattering them.
Signet of Inspiration to spread/copy all boons you have on you right now to party members. (multiple mesmers can make amazing things happen)
A basic go-to combo in dungeons is:
Staff first: Chaos storm > Warlock > 1 basic attack to get into combat > Phase Retreat > dodge forward near mob (you should have 3 clones up by now and half endurance) > mind wrack/CoF. This shouldn’t take you more than 3-4 seconds to do.
Now you have 9 stacks of might for 16 seconds, probably well over 13 seconds of vigor(20+ sec of retaliation, chaos armor and possibly aegis from chaos storm aswell)
Switch to sword/(focus/pistol/sword, i prefer focus for the curtain buff+pull and the light combo field(warden on top makes it shoot condition cleaning bolts) which gains you an additional +3 stacks of might for 32 seconds from the sigil of battle.
Now you use #3 to create a clone (if possible, on top of your still existing chaos storm so you get chaos armor once again) , dodge twice(should have full endurance again by that point) and #3 again to teleport back to your enemy > Mind Wrack/CoF(+9 might, 13s vigor) > Blurred Frenzy
You should now have 22 stacks of might (first stack of 9 running for 8-10 more seconds, stack of 3 running for ~30 sec, stack of 9 running for ~14 sec), +25 sec vigor, +/- 20 sec retaliation and possibly more from chaos storm, chaos armor if you got hit and other teammembers.
Now, you use signet of inspiration and copy all those delicious boons to teammembers. Throw a Time Warp right after for extra fun(on hard pulls/bosses preferably).
Inspiration X allows for healbotting, Inspiration III gets you the endless group vigor.
It’s pretty much a shatter build with a focus on group support, but deals the same damage a power build does, probably even more at high might.
