Rules:
-Melee only, no attacking from range allowed. summons/minions/phantasms that attack at range must be summoned/used in melee if you use them, any weapon is fine
-No form of condition removal or -X% condition duration food allowed(Other nourishments are fine)
-Racial Utility/Elite skills only(Healing skills are your choice, only healing skills that also remove conditions aren’t allowed for this)
-No Projectile reflection/absorb skills(Warrior shield/sword block and guardian shield 5 are an exception)
-Must fight him in his spawn-area, no using line of sight to move him away/to ignore rocket turrets

@Wethospu: Did this with a rather casual group yesterday without downing; all it takes is a guardian or two to aegis occasionally to cheese this almost entirely, so maybe one could add something.

A little edit: If minions/Phantasms are used, they must be ranged types used in melee(example: p. duelist, ranger spider etc.)

That little detail slipped off my radar.
If people think these rules are too harsh or make it “impossible” to clear it, suggest something.

I wouldn’t have thought i’d actually get impressed at a condi build user soloing lupi, but then i saw this one. That was amazingly fast for a rabid spec.

Emissary of the Mad King most of the time. Dungeon master on professions i’m not (yet)good at and/or down a lot on, like thief for example. I put on my Volunteer title when i carry newbies in dungeons.

Duoing this with 2 warrior is definitely easier/faster. It doesn’t take us much more than ~8 mins usually to kill simin, but sometimes she seems to petrify people faster than usual and alternate between the two of us. Like yesterday both of kept getting tagged within 3-4 seconds of each other with petrify and had to throw tears at each other asap to prevent us both getting stoned.

Any insight on why this happens and how you can prevent that from happening? It made us take over 10 mins yesterday because of that.

Ascended isn’t what makes fractals doable, infusions are. The two are tied together but that doesn’t make them the same. They could easily implement the infusion system without ascended items.

Yet, 4/7 item slots needed for Fractals aren’t even obtained in fractals. They pretty much “force” you to do other content/grind gold+mats for weapons if you want to progress in fractals normally with a giant timegate added on top of everything and also EXTREMELY alt unfriendly. Yes, an infusion slot on any item would possibly solve that issue, but then fractal players wouldn’t even bother with krap like laurels/guildmissions/grinding money/mats for ascended weapon crafting etc. and Arenanet/NCSoft wouldn’t like that some players ignore content that is boring to them.

At least i wouldn’t. I play games mainly to have fun. Challenge comes next. Mindless grinding, crafting, spamming 1 1 1 1 1 F 1 1 1F 1 F 1 1 1 F and timegating is neither challenging nor fun(to me, don’t know about you…).

On a similar note: See how casuals/non fractal/mindless zergling 1 1 1 players overflow the forums with their tears because they can’t get fractal backpacks without doing fractals? Almost all of them don’t even try to slip into fractal player’s shoes before whining endlessly about that. Fractal players have it much worse i’d say.

The LFG is stupid. I’ve had about 14 people join me today in my arah selling spots without reading the description and/or wondering why i suddenly ask money for it.

I gotta admit that it’s better for filling up groups quick, but much worse for anything else. THe party merge feature is the worst thing on it. 2-3 people can just join your group and kick the leader instantly with almost no way to retaliate.

Forgot to mention: Sometimes i get 1000+ ping for a few seconds @ past 3pm GMT+1, then it goes back to about 250 on US. Unplayable when this happens.

Does anyone else that plays from EU on US get this kind of huge lag?

What sort of ping do most folks get, out of curiousity? Normally I sit around 80-110, but sometimes for no apparently reason I can easily ride at 200-250, which really bones me.

You can check using the /ip command in-game, then launching Resource Monitor if you’re on Windows 7 and look at latency for that connection in the TCP Connections area.

150-250+ on US almost consistently, 20-50 on EU. Sometimes i get massive lag every few seconds on either region, though.

I try to not down and if i do, it’s usually my fault or because of a darn lagspike(on US). On EU i barely ever down in dungeons even on my berserker ele, because of no delay.

If it’s in a good/high DPS group, i don’t think much about it, because i’ll rally quick anyways. In pugs, the groups usually wipe if i end up downing, unless there’s at least another good player in there to carry the rest.

Just did the TAFU tree in a full PVT group in about 1 minute or possibly even less. Mediocre skilled group.

I didn’t actually intend on making him behave like this, but i set myself the goal that i wouldn’t go to eat breakfast before i finish this solo, so i took use of this opportunity.
I’ll rerecord it in the next few days with a better build and not at the wall. Maybe.

In my guild, people that miss the rewards are usually at fault themself. If 2 or more people have missed rewards for a specific type of guild mission, i usually do another round so they can get it.

You, OP, are just one out of hundreds and guild missions costs 200 to 2200 influence each(if you insta-build it) + time, so you cant expect people to bother with another mission JUST for you, especially with such an attitude. Work on your personality first before joining another guild. Get out.

Lv80 exotic has a 3rd stat on it, though. It might be better to use an alternative knight’s set instead of your usual berserker in places like AC i’d say, since 12% or so crit damage isn’t going to change much, where the added 200-300(?) toughness is a game changer. I don’t have any knight armor on any of my characters though so i’ll just stay with my berserker/assassins

Just now i’ve realized i could change some traits and give up stability on death shroud for some better traits and a much faster clear, but i just can’t be bothered to do this again now. Of course i could just wait until next friday so i get +10% WvW bonuses, which would have sped up the kill by at least a minute or two.
It might have also been better to use +60% might duration runes instead of scholar’s(since necromancer self healing sucks monkey bud) w/ blood is power(10X ~20s might w/24s cd), but hell no i’m not going to bother replacing a full set of scholar runes now. It’s also possible to replace hidden pistol with flesh wurm, but i thought i’d make use of this little racial that almost nobody uses.

First time playing necromancer. Fraps started freaking out near the end, most likely because my HDD was getting full and it cut around 30 seconds. Kill time is just about 15 minutes.

I couldnt bare to pug arah. Things go smoother in 3man groups then with pugs.

Here, let me one up you: I’ve had (mostly)guild groups and pug groups for arah p2/3/4 that were way slower than me soloing alone or duoing. It’s sad how bad players can slow you down tremendously.

I always thought doing the spider run was easy on almost all professions. The only one i didn’t do that on yet is necromancer.

I’ll give you a few tips. Most of them hardly played the game or did dungeons.
Endless CoF 1, RMT, Gold buying, TP flipping, recently Deadeye farming, ember/Frostgorge/Scarlet invasion farming etc. comes to mind.

Most players i’ve encountered that have a legendary were absolute trash tier or close to it and sometimes they were acting like they mattered in groups with their PVT or cleric gear. I said most, so don’t start getting mad at me if you’re not one of those Legendary heroes.

I’d be okay with that if they returned Illusionists celery to minor adept and halved all phantasm summon skill cooldowns by half. Otherwise, no, this is a bumming nerf.

All baddie and MLG pro dungeon runner talk aside, i have a full berserker/scholar ranger sitting around collecting dust if anyone cares. :^)

Being good at games has always been an exploit.

So i got kind of bored of doing lupicus solos now for weeks and thought about using some “exotic” warrior build for wvw fun. I’m not 100% sure about traits, though.

I only got to test it out in Obsidian sanctum a few times and i had my fun, even when people with lots of condition cleanses would just cleanse everything. I know the condi coverage is pretty low as it mostly relies on confusion from interrupts(9x 15+sec confus on interrupt).

Any feedback?

I love when people conclude an argument with “get over it”. Right… why don’t we buff Necros to have warrior level support, and survivability, and let them keep high damage. Then nerf guardian and warrior support to almost nothing, nerf their survival, then tell them “your dps is enough” you are still ‘viable’…. see how that would blow over.

Then people would just switch to 3 necro and 1 warrior for banners or something. People who care will always use the best option.

No matter how the classes get changed, how future dungeons get designed(hah, if ever), people will be attempting and doing speedclears. If a dungeon is really hard, an organized group will always be multiple times faster than a PUG/non optimized group. Most of the time, at least.

I don’t understand your point about classes not being balanced and the game not being designed for doing speedclears…?What do both have to do with each other? There’s hardly any games out there that are designed(specifically) for speedclearing.

Been waiting for about 6 or 7 months for Anet to update/unlock higher level fractals. Currently i just don’t bother much with fractals till that mythical fractal update.

You think content should take less than an hour in any game? Besides, a group that isn’t optimized doesn’t mean it’s totally bad. A decent group, with decent gear, and non-specific classes or non-optimized builds can still clear stuff relatively quickly if the players are good.

There is no reason to intentionally run non-optimal gear unless you’re bad. Content should always be cleared as fast as, or close to as fast as possible. There is no reason to intentionally make content take longer than it has to.

There is no reason, short of posting a clear time on a webpage somewhere. If that’s fun for you go ahead, but the main point is PVE in this game is not competitive. There’s no “world’s fastest” achievement, there’s really no dungeon that requires specific classes/builds to be able to complete it. There is absolutely no advantage, short of saving yourself maybe 15 minutes, to run an optimal party. A decent party can clear stuff pretty quickly too, and it doesn’t have to be “PVE meta”

Driving to work with a car is no fun. You should walk to work instead! That is much more fun!(Your opinion of fun is irrelevant because only MY opinion counts) Why only take 15 minutes with the car when you could take 90 minutes by foot? kitten real life competetive speedclear people and their stupid RL meta…

There is something seriously wrong with dungeons in this game. Stating the obvious but I don’t think it’s been stated enough. Seriously, every other game that I played involving dungeon content was extremely enjoyable but here in this game it’s downright frustrating so I don’t even bother partaking any more.

That would be amazing. I wouldn’t have to do arah story in extremely bad pugs every time i level another character to 80! Still need to do arah story 3 more times on new alts currently.

I still run 40 AR in 48 fractal on all my characters and don’t have any problem surviving except @ maw. Didn’t you guys used to do 48s when 25/30 AR was the max? I don’t even care about ascended weaps right now, not in it’s current state. I refuse to waste hundreds of gold just to start crafting timegated mats.

I might start caring when they finally give fractals the rewards they deserve and a level cap increase.

Yes, it does. For bad players, 3 ticks x 6% damage would allow them to afford more mistakes than 3 ticks x 18% damage.

Legendary Dredge suit = ultimate baddie killer who can’t dodge. Now, even the worst PVT badlord players can sit and heal through the 3 time application room wide(?) agony attack.

3×3×18% ticks were always lethal. Heck, even 6×18% were pretty much lethal in most cases.

I just go in to melee, block/dodge when she does the unload move and escape to LoS/heal up when getting low on health. When clones spawn, LoS/kite around boxes. Healing signet+crit heal food does the job for me easily.

Sometimes alphard doesn’t do the spin/storm attack at all and just keeps following/shooting me. Other times i can just melee safely till she reaches the 75/50/25% HP threshold till clones spawn, then i gotta kite/los/kill clones.

Someone teach me these mythical arah exploits, please, since all of you seem to be fine using them. So far i’ve been soloing p2/p3 & duoing p4 without exploits. I don’t know anything other than the boat jump.
