Seeing as the decline of gw2 is slowly heading towards having nothing to do endgame except your daily routine or mindless zerg farm if that suits your cup of tea.
I feel its time to bring up the idea of endgame content. content wich is actually hard and not finishable in a week or even a month.
The way ‘explorable’ dungeons used to be considered as.
The way i see it the updates give any given player maybe one hour of gw2 gametime tops.
Im not talking about content for people who can only be bothered playing 30 minutes every day. Wich seems the be the brunt of gw2 atm.
The fact is and will remain more content is always better then less content.
If people get overwhelmed by more content, well to be quite frank, thats fine. Itll give those players something to do untill forever.
Right now the decline of updates is really growing weary on allot of players. i myself am pondering after playing since beta almost every day wheter or not it might be a better thing to just uninstall this game from my SSD for more space.
I personally dont like the teamplay aspect of pvp so i dont really bother with it anymore. because in essence the way guildwars 2 is designed its almost impossible to carry a bad team due to shere mechanics. (stuns/fears/cooldown on condi cleanse etc) you will never survive no matter how skilled you are. nor will you ever be capable of doing impossible stuff because in reality there is no reall killer way a skilled pvp player can play except with the social aspect of communication.
The PvE side isnt getting any better. we get a single story mission every 2 weeks wich is definatly not anything remotly endgame or another zerg farmfest. and to be frank. The entire LS has declined somuch in actuall content that i personally was suprised after finishing Aetherpath what we used to be getting.
Also what i am trying to say here give people something impossible to do.
Even if its just that one corner of SW where there is 1 boss wich is known to be near impossible but with a better chance to drop some sort of loot/tokens/anything that is worth figuring out for aleast a month. and after a month when that boss is finally downed and figured out. just create a new one. 1 mob wich is neigh impossible to kill = challenge for veterans + timesink. It can be a reskinned ‘Champion Veteran high Troll’ for all i care. aslong as theres a 90% chance of failure and not some simple mechanics you have to put into it to ‘beat’ the game and some decent loot added (in my personal opinion if you play something 8 hours a day trying to beat it the loot should be atleast as good as farming a profitable zone for 8 hours, so not 1 bag with 3 greens)
It doesnt have to be time consuming to build, it doesnt have to be in the way of the LS, it doesnt even have to be easily findable so the brunt of the 30 min players dont even know its there.
Just give us the veterans some cool boss every month or so, so we actually have a reason to show off our shiny legendaries with pure skill. instead of just idling in LA at the tailoring making ascended mats just to get more gold for more legendaries for no reason at all.
Im not even asking for much, just this one thing, try to divide your teams to what catters that % of actuall players. just to keep everyone happy. Because i know im not the only one whos bored as bleep and have 0 to no reason to repeat the content ive repeated for over a year now.
Misleading thread title is misleading…
He meant that precursor have a chance to drop in every mob in tyria, not that its easy to aquire..
My primary reason to play gw2 is to show ppl that i AM one of the first people who played it. With all the knowledge built up towards where i am now.
I feel very very sad that everything ‘should’ be available to everyone. Right now the only skins i have is the skins ppl either cant/dont bother to buy because i do like my individualism.
Seeing even 1 person with the same type of armor really gets me out of the mood for playing this game, it makes me feel like im one of the millions of ppl who spend all all there time for crappy updates, rehashes of content and literally killing of exclusivity.
I remember when i picked up the GW2 celebration hat. I felt that they would make it a seasonal thing in gw2 just as gw1 to showcase you are a dedicated gamer.
If eventually every skin is for sale eventually i will quit hands down. I mean why would i even bother to continue playing if every person looks exacly the same. doing exacly the same 1 button spam at PvE.
I am a collector in that sense. And it feels they really want to rip all the gw1 nostalgia from me.
And if they do. Im out. id wrather have my gw1 memories then my gw2 because in my eyes it was the better game in almost every aspect so far. (rediculous RNG only on yearly birthday gifts) Good PvP, Good GvG, Exclusive stuff for collectors, Gods and the entire story behind them and how favour back then worked. SERIOUS story, not some half kitten baked teen novel with cheesy comments in between your so called ‘save the world project’ (directed to you scarlet) But actuall world destruction events where actually legendary places where hidden, hard content to finish besides the normal routes, a whole bunch more cool clothes, The mursaat and everything how it unfolded slowly you got to the root of things where the evildoers where. Now its just.. Goto land A kill 20k zombies kill dragon. Wooptiedoo like zombies arent outplayed or unoriginal.
I have only 1 more tip for anet. FIRE half of your devs and put the GW1 DEVS on GW2.
Even the holiday events where better in every single way.
Its a shame gw1 is dead and i cant be bothered to play with those graphix/controls anymore.
Should all get removed and rebalanced.
Skillfull has never been such a punishment untill 2014.
It seems every game i have been playing seems to give the ‘lesser’ skilled people an option to still kill people with cheesy strategies.
People should get off the entire bandwagon ‘trolling is fun’. Sorry but you have absolutly no idea what you are killing with this mentality.
Its never fun to play vs cheese builds. Its never fun to pvp vs trolls who dont care about skillfull plays but just want to grief as much as possible.
The only reason why games are adding trolling and cheesing builds is because they want to give cassuals a chance. Yet they are killing there game from the inside out. People who actually deserve to win are losing, and worst of all people think its ‘cool’ or ‘funny’ but its just plain bad manners to do so.
I refuse to cheese because im better then that but once cheese is so prevelant in most games, there is no more games for the skilled people left. I hope gw2 will try to balance to focuss on skillfull plays instead of cheesy plays.
But ofcourse twitch chat is always filled with trolls so gw2 twitch thinks trolling = gw2.
I just hope this game becomes competetive again. People with less skill should always lose to people with more skill. always.
Law of the strongest.
In this thread i wanted to discuss a bit of the imagination that tickled everyone from beta till now.
Since i had a reall vision on what i expected and what i got.
Well, let me tell you, as a gw1 veteran the first things that came to mind was the same type of playstyle, progression wise in the endgame but even bigger and better.
I thought that ‘The mists’ was some desolate place where only the best of the best eventually COULD get to. Where there where special dungeons specificly made for hardcore people with loot ‘reall heros’. Someone who just got to lvl 80 could never reach this unless he/she learnt the game inside and out/ got certain ‘map’ completion achievements. That it was the place where you needed to travel through some open world pvp(wich in the end became WvW irl), but had to be really carefull, Where you really needed to showcase what you got to proceed to the ‘hall of treasures’ where behind lots of mobs/dungeons/bosses and various different un-WPable points there where some guys who sold some special loot (legendary equipment) and with un-WPable points i mean you had to play for atleast a couple of hours through some epic dungeons/mobs/bosses and when you had to go you could get to a camp and logout there to do the next part the day after that. But you actually had to commit to that 1 piece of adventure. So it’d actually feel like an adventure and not something you could just WP to.
Like a progression dungeon with open world resting places to go to the next area. Aka gw1 style storyline but with less WP.
I thought jumping puzzles where instanced things you had to do to get to some really interesting/rewarding points like a camp where you could learn some recipe noone would ever get unless they travelled through that JP (account bound).
I hoped for the idea that i would get stuck at some point (like a really hard boss/dungeon etc) So id have a reall challenge to learn some mechanics or needed a really good group where every member was tested (split party dungeons) to proceed.
General idea was that i thought endgame in gw2 was the entire learning experience youve had with JP’s dungeons and bosses from 1-80, where crammed together into 1 blob of hardcore content where you needed to know exacly everything the game had to offer. like Do dungeon :Starting with a jumping puzzle with a long route and rest spots to some kind of split road scenario where you picked either the mining field with 5 rich orichalcum nodes or the imba boss noone knew howto defeat. (choices for ppl who want gold vs ppl who want challenge)
What i got was literally everything i wanted but… in seperate content. Wich in the end was kind of a dissapointment to me. But expected sort of.
I really love the aspect of an open world with gw2 unlike gw1. It feels like a one of a kind propper PvE fast-skillbased MMO . It gets you going when you decide to find a party who DOESNT just use a WP to go somewhere but actually travel the world through portals and caves on foot. Once i learnt that WP’s where totally ruining the immersion i came up with my own ‘questline’ (go on a map with commander tag and first guy who gets to me needs to show me the way to the nearest town/bank without WP and id give some exotic over the top loot with the special agreement that we’d do all the events that come in our way)
At that point i realised how magical Gw2 was. I hope everyone gets to experience it once mordermoth destroys all WPs for a few weeks in LS. Then everyone will complain and after those few weeks the reall adventurers would come!
120 range ….. 120 range…. dude Just stay some pixel away from the turret and you are save.
sadly the remote area of a cappoint in pvp is literally enough for an engi to cover it entirly with turrets
I mean they still give massive AoE and AoE stuns/knockback with almost no cooldowns so they can perma knockback.
Can anyone enlighten me on how this is fun or balanced when you simply cant do anything cuz some random engi scrub just spams turrets everywhere and knockbacks you constantly?…
Lets hope so, i dont really mind just condi spam since i can actually dodge that, but once ur backstab stunned you just auto die as an ele…
its not balanced at all…
Worst part is the people who organise there meta builds the best actually get to wear exclusive pvp armor?
So unobtainable skins rewarded to the stunlock condispam meta. Yep pvp is dead. And all the efforts to commercialise it is only wasted resources on what SHOULD be balance patches.
I just played some solo tPvP.
And as per ussuall all you see is stunlock condispam.
Why doesnt anet realise that thats literally whats killing pvp.
The no skill builds where u just perma stunlock and then spam condis ontop.
I love seeing scrubs justify how ‘good’ they are by saying theyr on the top of the leaderboard but aslong as people play this godawefull meta style. there is literally no skill involved so any ranking is null and void.
And what are they doing with engis? are they nerfing them? because asof now it seems that its the only viable proffesion to even use in pvp if you want to win. (maybe thats why 3/5 ppl on a team now roll engi)
@Style, I have never said anything about 1v1, I just feel that balance is much closer if classes stand much closer. And the reason why is to adress exacly what your saying. There are no skill builds and you can remove them by decreasing there effectiveness by standardizing everyone in a more competetive mold.
@adozu, no it was just my interpretation of different healthpools because this is to me the biggest tell about proffesions not being equall. To be frank most problems i personally have is with condition spammers. Not warriors.
@ryston, Well someone has to go through the nasty stuff to show the core problems in my opinion and note that it was late
Hey people from the structured PvP!
I come today to talk about 1 thing since its quite late,
Why is guildwars2 not a reall competetive Esports.
First things first, what is needed to become an esports.
Balance, fair fights etc.
The most important aspect is everyone should be capable of beating everyone if they are actually better. No auto wins. No racial wins. No class wins. No proffesion wins.
NO assymetrical balance, It doesnt work like that in an Esports.
thats like saying in tennis, “you get the batminton racket and your opponent gets the superdeluxe reall tennis racket”
Its unfair it doesnt work. People WILL get turned of by this except the few profiting from getting the super deluxe reall tennis racket.
If you want to showcase whos the best, give people an even footing.
Examples of why i personally quit pvp in general. I cant play what i want to play because i have a role in the game. (no trinity? Then why u make staff support?)
The game currently is working with extremes.
10K light armor healthpool versus a 50K heavy armor healthpool. Is for example one of those extremes. The same could be said for certain builds. And for certain proffesions. (these extremes should not even be possible at all)
This needs to be toned down ALLOT. People need to be on a more equall even footing somuch that any prof can beat any prof. If this doesnt get added. This game is essentially rock papper scissors. And if id want to play rock papper scissors with someone .. then i would do that not pvp in gw2.
I never liked the concept of flipping a coin and be ‘lucky’, if your competetive you shouldnt either.
Skillfull games create skillfull winners.
Assymetrical balance kills this.
Teamplay should definatly be promoted but not in extremes like it is right now.
5 guys focussing 1 guy who doesnt have the right proffesion to quickly get out of there?
Bad balance. Every proffesions should have the chance to do so at an equall manner, In a different way.
Gw1 had the 55hp monk, we have every class that can bunker and never kill eachother.
Bad balance. another extreme. Tone it down.
I know i will most likely get flamed for vocallizing my opinion. But having played in a number of different ‘esports’ games at a decent level it seems that i always get back to the one where this distribution is the strongest.
Last but not least;
Balance updates. Weekly. You cannot know what is true balance if you havent tested the waters with everyone in the community at different metas.
That was all. Ty for reading hope i informed.
You want the cold hard truth?
HARDCOUNTERS. there is no creativity in gw2.
If you go full blown zerker spec any random condition spammer will beat you if you dont have the appropriate anti conditions.
On the other side if you have full slotbar of anti conditions condi spammers cant do anything versus you.
Its rock papper scissors in PvP. There is no skill in there.
You want a competetive game you better start balancing and make all the hardcounters SOFT counters. So everyone has an equall shot regardless of build or character.
How is this unfair?
Do stuff get stuff.
Do more stuff get better stuff.
would you want mawdrey to become as rare as bloodstone dust or would you wrather have something in a sense prestigeous with some value?
I will always pick the latter because i simply dont want all the rare cool loot be instantly obtainable for everyone i want them to write a story on how they got itt just like i will eventually do…
Also i see no rush to obtain mawdrey, simply because i unlocked everything for it and the piles arent going anywhere either.
If your mad about that rare a day, welp… there are better ways to get cash..
I seriously dont see the problem here at all..
Supposedly but cant they make us skip the dialog parts the second run then? If the first run was for story the second could enhance the ‘achieving’ a bit more
Yeah i like how the living story now actually picks up on the personal story.
I hope one day we will get titles showcasing the epic stuff we have done after zaithan and mordermoth, the idea that i personally killed them both. and can showcase my experience through that to newer players.
Or maybe something unobtainable unless you did it all.
Like a housing system. That would be awesome.
To be fair, literally everything added this update i loved.
The epic space time travel seeing everything.. i wish we had a gemstore item to get back in there… i LOVED it.
The weapon department did a fantastic job, I love the black lions ley line skin, And the bug hunting weapons are very very cool especially the way on how to aquire them.
Thanks Anet, Thanks for making me have your game in my playlist.
I will now proceed with trying to find that unidentified bug!
But this really has been a great update.
different servers have different bosses and the ‘episodes’ are supposed to be more inline with the number of various different commanders. say about 14 commanders a week seems like a good number? 2 every day. with a bunch of side events to lure out said commanders if you wanna go in full depth.
And if something dies it dies. it doesnt just respawn thats NOT immersive and thats NOT persistant its a stupid respawn model MMOs use simply to let the masses flock to an area to grind. This prevents grinding commanders but if there is a server where there are literally commanders everywhere regardless of it being LS (since thats where the masses ussually flock with good content)
Im giving them food for thoughts what they COULD be doing. Not the generic kitten they are release every biweekly update.
Its not just to please me. Its an idea from me to make a better LS, and that was it from the get go. You just refuse to understand what im typing. Constantly questionmarking everything asif you cant think for yourself. Worst of why your doing this is to prove to me that my idea is definitly wrong. And that guildwars is doing is a spectaculair job by giving more generic questing systems.
I come up with ideas that seem fun to me. And what guildwars has been doing for the past 2 weeks constantly hyping up stuff to no end spending more time and resources on hyping people up instead of to create the actuall content they are promoting is definatly not fun for me. To be disapointed every 2 weeks.
Best of all you could even start S3 on different maps in the meantime adding more content while the dragonfight rages on.
I obviously meant the new chapter of the new season with that didnt i?
So basically you’re suggesting here that you think that the first chapter took three months, because you seem to not recognize that the three months wasn’t spent on the first chapter, but planning out the whole thing.
You didn’t wait three months to complete the content in a couple hours. You waited three months so that they could be prepared in advance to give you content every other week.
Dont be childish im trying to have a decent discussion here.
or are you one of those no brain farmers who enjoys killing random mobs for 2 weeks straight to get some of the new X item?
They could even make it so cassuals like you can avoid it but not have any value on the story whatsoever.
Since what point?
Well actually the way your stating how they cant make content ahead of time kind of gets nullified if you say they cant do that with my initial idea.
No it doesn’t. You either want them to plan out and prepare every single map, event, dialogue, and scene that could possibly happen so that they can keep their “chapter every fortnight” schedule, or you want them to wait until each chapter is ended to decide what to do next, which means making things with no planning and preparation and just making it up on the fly, which definitely rules out the “chapter every fortnight” schedule, because they’d have to just sit there and wait until each chapter is over.
They can keep their schedule NOW because they have it all planned out in advance because it’s not going to change.
its true we havnt seen the grand finale of S2
You’re misrepresenting how far we actually are. We’re in the first chapter. It’s like judging the entire personal story as soon as you get out of the tutorial zone.
Stop trying to put words in my mouth, ofcourse i understand they probably premade this season. If not then i wouldnt even be playing anymore. But on the otherside this was supposed to be the Epic start of the S2 story, wich isnt anything different then what weve already seen before so somuch for the hyped up stuff they talked about all this time. This is what Anet does, it feeds you hyped up stuff so you continue playing till something ‘epic’ happens in another 2 weeks. And when that releases they cliffhanger it some more so that ‘epic’ thing gets released the patch after that since that should be the super epic content theyve been talking about.
What my suggestion was was this;
Make them make 2 possible outcomes in this season, 1 is that we all kill the dragon the other is that we dont, but PLAYER driven. Make both of those outcomes, but in the end use them both aswell.
If you make a dragon super hard to kill (wich its supposed to be) it could take longer then a month(if you use the entire map with events to eventually get towards the great dragon by killing certain generals wich dont respawn at all but are equally hard as a tequatl/worm fight) when S3 shouldve started to finally bring the beast down.
With a title and everything that you where there killing it. Suddenly the title actually has value and you impacted the game as a playerbase. It also gives arenanet the chance to update the game (balance/add additional features/create lore to showcase people what the best way to kill the dragon is when you want to release S3) when theyr done building S3 while S2 is still raging on without a timer when itll end till the dragon dies. The trick is making hardcore events matter equally as cassual events (cassuall events will be more like a fire elemental boss fight) But have them go at the same time and most importantly, making people choose at the start of the ‘new’ generals(aka episode) if they want to play the hardcore or the cassuall version of the LS What is important is eventho its the next episode already the general should remain ingame till its defeaten. In the end you will all face the same dragon so everyone is capable of getting the title by killing multiple generals (like the biweekly story events are running atm)or something.
The only hard part about this is rellying on both fronts to be ‘finished’ with getting towards the dragon. And thats why you could add in hints the longer the dragon fights continue and add them in as lore.
This would create events on the Dragon map all focussed on the dragon, it also feels like genuine endgame content since you can have a dragonslayer title and brag you where there eventho anyone could get it in the period the dragon still needed to be slain.
It is literally the last ‘episode’ of the chapter wich needs to made by Anet twice to gain ALLOT more time for the next chapter
(edited by ErazorZ.5209)
Even if they remove the superhero gang they introduce time and time again and make the players look for other players instead of storylining with NPC’s would be a huge step up.
right now it feels like ive been dressing my character, after a good 1-80 experience nostalgia feel, to be starred in a movie with the rest of the anti scarlett gang and thats everything we are ever gonna get. a part in the ‘cinematic world’ of gw2.
If id want to watch a cheesy children detective show i wouldve youtubed scooby doo. Because thats all the LS is atm, scooby doo where you can make scooby wear cool armor skins. No player involvement whatsoever.
Okay im sorry but i waited 3 months to see the new season drop and i played it out within hours. How does that scale?
Wow, really?!?!?
Because the rest of the game is still stuck on chapter 1 since that’s all they’ve released so far. But here’s you, saying you’ve played out the entire season!
Are you from the future? Can you tell me what the winning lottery numbers are for next week?
You don’t honestly think they spent three months working on the first chapter, do you?
Also, if they integrated PvP into the living story so that I couldn’t avoid it if I wanted to do the PvE content, I’d quit straight up. It’s bad enough I have to suffer through inactivity and PvP in WvW to get map completion.
May I post this to the Jumping Feedback thread? Compared to your attitude vs people who dislike jumping there it is quite amusing and enlightening.
Go ahead. Would you like me to refute your using that as an argument against me here, before you post it there, or would you rather I do it there after you post it in the thread where I took more time to help the argument against jumping than most people who dislike the jumping, especially you?
I obviously meant the new chapter of the new season with that didnt i?
Dont be childish im trying to have a decent discussion here.
Oh and just for your entertainment at the end of this SEASON we will kill a dragon if not say goodbye to half your playerbase gw2. Suddenly my futuregazing comes in handy.
Well actually the way your stating how they cant make content ahead of time kind of gets nullified if you say they cant do that with my initial idea.
its true we havnt seen the grand finale of S2 but im really pessimistic about it and have the idea they arent going to add more actuall playable content every chapter till the few last 3.
Also with the mass overhyping of everything theyve ever done in the LS i expect it to fail or be another (like i said) Zaithan 2.0 Lots of cutscenes but no actually gameplay or combat that revolves around the story, since thats the aproach they took with Dry top.
Also lets not forget that season 1 was a test and this season was supposed to be the end all be all of information they learnt from S1.
I dont see how this is ‘that’ (overhyped to another extreme amount) much better then S1.
I think the living story season 2 has so far been a big improvement over season 1 so I’m going to sit back and see where they go with it and then at the end we can look back and comment on what worked and what didn’t so they can improve again.
Also, we got a lot more than 2 hours of content from this patch. I mean I’ve personally spent nearly that long running around looking at waypoints to see which ones are affected by vines or flickering. I still haven’t got all the recipes from the vendor in the new zone and I still have 3 achievements from the story instances to complete.
It has been an improvement ofcourse, but thats not so hard to do if the previous really really didnt do anything to the playerbase whatsoever, You played the first chapter of LS1? I did, you know what you had to do? pick up signs and give them to vendors. Allot of people didnt even bother.
And this is exacly what i mean with the same old stuff.
“oooh useless recipes” Lemme go farm X to get Y maybe delay myself a bit more by also getting some keys so it takes even longer for me to get said recipes. The achievements really dont add anything its just something you do, sometimes its fun, sometimes its not. but in all reality it feels like working on a job, and for what good? nothing, you literally get nothing in return except some gold and maybe a new skin a few AP to get some more gold, but thats it.
No satisfaction of anysort except that you can complete something regardless of what it is, at all.
Yes, three times the work. In fact, that’s a LOW amount.
Like I already said, you either expect them to write, map, and fully develop, including events, every possible branch in advance based on every possible outcome of every chapter, or you expect them to wait until each chapter is over to quickly rush out new maps/story/events/content/dialogue based on what happened in the previous chapter. Which is it?
If you think all of that can be done properly without making each chapter last a total of at least a month, most likely more, you clearly are confused as to what needs to be done when making a game.
And even if they did, people would STILL complain, so what do they get out of it? More work, tighter deadlines, same complaints.
Okay im sorry but i waited 3 months to see the new season drop and i played it out within hours. How does that scale?
No all im saying is this stuff theyve been doing so far is just the same old same old. It gets boring and stale really fast when you do the same stuff over and over again. New event? Farm X! to get the new Y! OMG!
Also why update the game at all if you have that negative mindset of what theyd get out of it.
They designed this model of B2P, they should LOVE working on it. If they dont, then this game is dead regardless. So why SHOULDNT they add bigger better stuff? They could actually make people come back to guildwars instead of just overhyping said updates each week and then see X join and X leave again when they see its the same overhyped catfood theyve been fed for all those years.
Feels like the OP has some unrealistic expectations. They’re doing fine right now and I’m curious to see what they have for us on tuesday.
And the content is longer then 2 hours. It’s not just the story part but also map exploration, events, JP,…
I feel Anet puts the time in the wrong areas, ofcourse they want to be that MMO that is an MMO and doesnt flop cuz of a wrong ‘businessmodel’ but i can tell you this. When you have everything you want ingame. what are you gonna do?
some imbalanced PvP? Maybe some stale WvW? Or maybe that dungeon path wich youve ran for over an eon to get some gold? Hell maybe farm big world events and get ur afk shirt on after u pressed 1.
This entire rinse and repeat attitude is why i didnt play any MMO’s, its stale and its everywhere. Gw2 said it would be different. Yet they come to the terms that there declining player base IS an MMO player base, or atleast whats left.
And every gamer knows people who play mmos are the people who want to be a gamer but dont have the time/dedication/skill or whatever to play a decent multiplayer game. And with the entire combat system of guildwars 2 there was a glimmer of hope they would break that glaring doom of being easy to play/ press 1 and get loot.
They started the LS to keep people interested, giving trailers and such JUST to keep them playing. Its worse then ur average MMO where they have subscription based updates with new tiers of gear because the LS isnt even worth keeping up with after a while since its just rehashing X Y content. Theres nothing big comming in the near future because everything ever added was overhyped and then the entire overhyped stuff backfired by getting huge negative comments. So they say the NEXT update will be that what you want. Now theyr teasing with a dragon wich is supposedly incomming but i wont be suprised if its another zaithan 2.0 fight.
I have yet to see an update where im actually impressed by (biggest so far was the wardrobe wich in the end has nothing to do with gameplay)
Three times the work? Lol!
Right now it feels asif some hobbyists adds content every 2 weeks wich they design in there freetime. You wanna know why?
Events in general, wich without a storyline or purpose are bland as hell,so they have to add some new type of mats to compensate. That flashy cinematic you always see when they ‘teaser’ trailer for an upcomming update. and the ingame cinematics in general the ‘living story’ where you play through a detective story wich will lead you hanging faster then any series ever would on a cliffhanger esque idea.
The only added benefit for them is to make a good game instead of a bad game. Get better updates = better recieval = more players = profit.
Also no, i didnt attack you at all, i just told you where you stand in the game with such logics. eventually youll run out of steam and youll see exacly what im talking about. maybe sooner or later but youll eventually realise theres literally nothing for you to do ingame anymore.
The pvp content in this game isnt even subpar. Its unbalanced and theres literally no reason to do it whatsoever, Meta builds ruin it and Anet is supporting more and more no brain condi spam. The entire ‘cool’ esports aspect of Gw2 is non existant because its delivered too soon without propper balancing and care. It feels forced asif its due to a company wich doesnt like what its doing so just puts a few big patches on a gaping wound without any actuall insight or care.
WvW has no goal whatsoever it gets stale within months. if youve captured one castle youve captured them all. Seeing as they will never add more to wvw in the near future thats as good as dead if you ask me.
I want Guildwars to innovate and not stick with the same ‘business model’ wich doesnt work at all when theres somuch new different unique styles available.
Right now its like any MMO where you farm stuff all day for gear, excuse me skins. Nothing ground breaking nothing new. Since the LS atm is just a rehash of content theyve been doing for over a year when there non-immersive detective storyline keeps running after a dead dragon, since we already know its going to die eventually. The biggest innovation they made was add a few openworld bosses extra for people to coordinate with a server.
In the end this feels like any MMO where you do exacly as the game wants you to do, go where the game wants you to. and in the end your entire contribution is meaningless and valueless.
They should start stepping out of there safety boundries and start experimenting with new stuff again. Because right now this no endgame because every area is accesible for everyone scheme doesnt work for people who play this longer then a few hours a day.
I expect them to do more. For one this game is one of the few games that doesnt get additional ‘BIG’ updates. Its micro updates wich in the end is content you finish in 2 hours.
The storyline and plot at this moment are nothing to cheer for and the voiceacting isnt as needed since itll be mostly player driven.
Im expecting them to take the players into consideration wich they definatly arent doing right now.
I want some decent content updates instead of farm X new item to get Y new item.
that content doesnt take 2 weeks to make, that takes maybe 2 days to make. They focus on giving extreme quality on the story wich you can enjoy for about 2 hours. and leave the rest (the actuall game) aside. You are not following your own shoes in the story. Id wrather have them scrap the entire story and make them realise they are not a TV show they are a video game where the lead character should always be you.
What PvE added content are you talking about? or are you one of those no brain farmers who enjoys killing random mobs for 2 weeks straight to get some of the new X item? or playthrough the new events wich add nothing extra to the game but wasting peoples time since its arbitrary and boring after youve done it once.
I was in dry top for 2 days did everything i could , i thought it was fun. But there was literally NOTHING for me to do after doing that. And here i am again farming for gems since theres no reall endgame or anything to do. Do they really just want me to quit straightup after i ‘finished’ the game. Or are they going to add something harder then the cassuall pugfest.
Also your acting asif its such a big deal having to play a single pvp game and win to go to a new area. They could even make it so cassuals like you can avoid it but not have any value on the story whatsoever.
I thought the leylines where some sort of ancient magic used to seal the dragons power after they fell asleep…
I want a story, not some cheap detective novel/serie that goes nowhere and suddenly a random dragon seems to be the enemy and we kill it.
I want to see clear signs of devastation wich we can prevent in the living story but if we dont make it in like 2 weeks (or whatever timeframe) the dragons destroy everything in that area.
That would make the living story something noteworthy, and give the playerbase the actuall choice to sit by idle and see a dragon wreck everything and we will have to find another way next season to get it back, OR if we actually manage to make it and weakened the dragon during this Living story push his forces back and establish new castles and areas instead of devastation with a glimpse of a battle with it.
Make the living story something persistant not something static. Make the player have the choice instead of the unending book we are reading now with a defined outcome where we the player actually dont do anything except follow the inevitable red line towards the outcome wich is already set in stone…
I want more involvement in the story..
What if in the end players could pick a side where the outcome isnt clear yet what that sides hidden agenda is. And if you picked one or the other youd be actually forced to either help the dragon or fight the dragon. This would integrate PvP in PvE LS content. And make the game have meaning to be played. (and make this character bound so multiple character have the option to choose so you can play both sides of the dice)
Whats your idea on this?
I fullheartedly agree,
Dont give us things we cant do for ourselves and are dependant on the
“I play how i want play” people.
It would be fine if everyone would get an option ‘do you want to coordinate with your server?’ and it should scale up accordingly.
Some people dont understand english, some people literally dont care, and some people ‘NEED to play how they want to play’
What good is a coordination event if not even half of the people partake?
Achievements are actually meaningless if you ask me, it literally does nothing for your character except give you some random skins most people really dont care about. And the way to get achievementpoints ussually consists out of doing your dailies and maybe a jumping puzzle dependant on meta event…
Its not special at all, it only showcases howlong you are playing, not how skilled you are or whatever. Most AP are really easy to get…
I think some of what you say is just nonsense, OP.
There are achievements to acquire in the game – associated with the Living Story.
The story itself is not going to get more difficult or longer to satisfy any segment of the playerbase, ANet designed AP so you can be happy. If you don’t want to do the “hardcore” content they offer you, that’s your prerogative – nobody else’s.
I found the LS2 to be a success so far. The story was immersive (short, but immersive – and why shouldn’t it be short? It’s like an episode of a TV series – it only runs for 22-48 minutes per week anyway), it wasn’t stupidly short like Season 1 where the “Living Story” was like two sentences for two weeks. Like, we wont’ tell a chapter at a time – just a paragraph.
So…I don’t know. I think you need to find the prerogative in yourself to enjoy doing the achievements or to go explore other aspects of the game still – have you acquired every Legendary? Have you maxed all of the PvP tracks? There’s a lot do in the game for somebody who will take the responsibility to know that not everything is tailored exactly to their wants and needs and sometimes stuff just doesn’t work for you but it works for others.
You might have a problem with the Living Story being casual – but I think that’s exactly how it should be.
Why shouldnt it be short? because what the hell am i playing this game for then!?
So i can play some 5 min content every kitten month!?
Please this is BAD not GOOD, i dont watch tv because of the inane stupid stuff on it, its always the same kitten and i dont understand why people bother to watch series at all, theyr predictable or vague and non enjoyable. stupid plottwists with no reall reasoning and worst of all they drag you on and on about some stupid ‘plot’ where they constantly deviate from, so you need to watch it till the end to finally get some interesting ‘story’ or even see an end to the story wich was totally deviated from (see fillers) If id want to watch a story id watch a movie not some stupid every week series.
AP you must be joking why the hell would i try to get more AP? what does it add? some extra gems and a skin wich noone wants every 4 months? Thats not hardcore ‘hard to get content’ thats for stupid people wasting time away in a game with no reall content if its supposed to be ‘hardcore’ content.
And pvp is seriously way too unbalanced and lacking why the hell would i want to be in that no balance no skill setting in Guildwars? because ive done everything and theres no other reason but to literally waste my time more? No thanks.
Already tried it got rank 43 then just gave up since there wont ever be good balance since there isnt a dedicated team for that and noone is bothering with it. So dont let me get started on that.
The fact is and remains that there is no reall content for hardcore people. if you play gw2 for 7 days a week 24/7 ill bet your kitten off that youd be bored in less then a week.
Ps. i dont want a legendary to start with, and the only reason why i would get it is if id saved up enough money because there is no reall content to spend it on.
The essence.
Imagine your arenanet, you have a small team working for you who work there kitten off to get some good quality content ingame. get some gemstore items for potential profit and fix bugs/balance etc.
Youve worked all month on designing a new map as a team and your deadline is comming soon. you want it to be polished just like the story that will be folded out in the map. You dont want to instantly release the entirety of the map so you can still build around more of the story on other parts of the map and deliver a quality fun playstyle with a nice story line. (i really loved the idea of the zepyrite crystals scattered on a big open map wich you needed to use to explore the content.) This takes time.
And there it is the big release where your reaping the fruits of the labor. You go for a stroll on the forums to see how the community reacts to your insane work and hope they are all very happy and pleased with this new form of free content. But then you actually start reading the titles alone;
‘LS2 WAS BAD’ ‘IT WAS TOO SHORT’ ‘I JUST DONT LIKE IT’
And there you are, again, Anet, people didnt like the content you came up with again. You didnt catter to the community again… You look for people who actually liked the content and you start reading what they have to say, ‘MEH NOT BAD’ And you feel somewhat accomplished that regardless of the nay sayers there are still people who like the effort you put in the game. Then you keep reading and the next comment says; “WHERE IS MY BALANCE WTF ANET WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” Then you see people all commenting on it agreeing with the balanceboy. And you decide to turn an eye again. not because you dont want to balance the game, its because you want to make the game more fun catter the people who want new content. And actually stay with your promise of adding updates and adding to the game in general.
You dont want this game to die out, you want people to enjoy playing. And you want to keep your job. But atleast there are some people defending your work, the cassuals.
Who actually see the beauty of the game and how its new mechanics work in the new map.
So now your on a crossroad Anet, do you catter the people who constantly complain or the people who enjoy the game. Well we all know the awnser to that.
So cassuals it is, they want all content to be easily accesible, so you give them that. with a small spice of ‘hardcoreism’ with the crystals
Me as a hardcore player, i like the quality content i like the story line of LS2. But what i really dont like is the idea of hardcore people having nothing to do again.
Yes for me too it was a stroll in the themepark watching a new attraction get opened. waited inline, and eventually played 3 hours through it. and then suddenly it finished again ‘gee im sorry seems youll have to wait a month again to the teaser release we gave out’ is literally what i imagined anet to think.
Not because the content is bad, Not because it was so ‘short’, it was because there was nothing left to do. Yeah sure i can farm for an armorset ill never use or add some extra spices in my soup to grant a bit more of almost exacly the same. But lets get reall there is no reall point in doing that.
So what do I, the hardcore player, wanted then? I wanted a new pair of boots skin wich would take me a month to farm to atleast feel like im still progressing in some areas. Wich i cant imagine would be hard to add. Just give the hardcore people 1 or 2 ascended recipes with UNIQUE skins(no more backpacks since i cant equip more then 1) wich would need stuff like geodes so id have to play the new map to get it. Ofcourse people will complain about having to farm for a skin. But thats the least bit of relief someone playing this hardcore would need.
But to neglect an entire part of the playerbase because the other playerbase wants it all?
I feel there should be a balance in every update where they catter cassuals and hardcore alike. sometimes the emphasis on cassual sometimes on hardcore. But atleast give something to do to both parties. I feel thats quite lackluster in this last update. The only thing it did to progress is to let cassuals play more skillbased. with a really really slow learning curve.
Also give all the guildwars 2’s hobos a home! We want a housing addition (all player bases btw)
So in the end my final gist of this patch
I loved it, i really really did enjoy this patch, gave some really cool fresh ideas with the crystals and the dessert sandstorm(darude) was really awesome to see added in. The storyline after hearing scarletts name for the 1000th time i really did enjoy it, and didnt even mind it was also about scarlett at all. For the next time the only thing i still needed was something to work towards, wich i didnt get. And i know you can do it, make certain armor skins available on certain maps only.
Never forget, housing! Keep saying it community so we will eventually persuade them!
Heya people thank you for comming over here,
Today i’d like to talk/discuss with you about the Living story 2.
I definatly enjoyed it, i definatly feel its too short and i definatly believe anet couldve done that little bit more. (will explain later on its nothing terrible since i loved the LS2 but just a small tweak they should add in to these updates wich im sure will not take too much time, but for now read on.)
As we, the community of guildwars2 forums, all agree on.
Hold on..
As we the community of the guildwars 2 forums, partially agree on…
Wait, wait thats not it either.
As we the community of the guildwars 2 forums, the cassuals agree on..
Now im forgetting the hardcore…
Jeez i cant do this right can i?
And here you go my entire explanation of why guildwars 2 is in the state its in.
Guildwars 2’s community is in its essence always in conflict with itself.
The hardcore vs the cassual.
The people who have no life who play video games all day versus the people who dont have a life who work all day.
And they both want to be cattered to. The dillemma of why guildwars is what it is today.
Being a hardcore gamer myself, ive always raged when there was nothing to do ingame after ive gotten everything i wanted. There was no ‘endgame’ content except getting the gamble weapons, yes im talking about legendaries. and if youd have them all the only things you could do is roam around a bit, fighting the same bosses over and over again, where you already know the first 10 minutes of how the fight will go and where you will need to be to avoid every attack whilst still making your max dps gear do the maximum possible damage. for the reason to quickly kill it and get some more gold to hopefully spend it on something interesting in the new LS or gemstore at the next release. (and im talking with a rose tinted glass here) since most people i know who have legendaries just spam ‘im bored’ in chat or sit in LA afking waiting for something to do. The ‘might aswell do fractals then’ mindset.
Cassuals will say those people miss the point and those people need to find a.. hobby?…
(Isnt gaming a hobby?)
And in the end guildwars2 will totally ignore those peoples complaints, not because they are mean, not because they dont see, its because they want to deliver quality. Thats what cassuals want in the end. while the majority of hardcore gamers want quality quantity.
To be fair you cant have both, its, quality vs quantity.
TBC…
Seriously what does it matter, if its gemstore and you play 24/7 you can buy it with gold.
I got my spare gems already ready awaiting the price rise in gold to gems.
I have always wanted a game wich catters the skillfull, and to be quite frank guildwars2 isnt that game.
Time and time theyve proven again that they want the experience enjoyable for everyone. And the only way youll ‘please’ all of the community is by letting everyone in on it. Regardless of skill, regardless of time spent.
Hard content =/= guildwars in that sense.
The biggest trophy in gw2 in terms of rewarding the skilled is a title. Get used to it, ive been playing since beta and finally the pieces come togehter in my head that its just how it is.
If you dont alienate the hardcore youll alienate the cassuals there is no middle ground. And what a surprise the hardcore player base already spent so much time being hardcore 24/7 ingame that they care too much too leave. however the cassuals dont have that. They can leave at a whim since they dont have anything to lose. So if hard content wich is rewarding gets implemented ingame, cassuals will whine about said rewards wanting them too. the ‘Its too hard’ syndrome. We have seen it time and time again in the forums. And that showcases there are allot of cassuals who dont want this game to be hard but a themepark where they can ride any attraction at any time.
There is no risk vs reward in guildwars with this mindset and there will never be because of it.
So either go full blown cassual and play like 15 minutes a day and check in on some of the new updates and gemstore items or live in denial for the rest of your 24/7 mindset in a game wich doesnt catter to you.
Gonna make this a quick ask because at the moment the only proffesions i still run in some trouble with in sPvP or roaming is in the end a warrior or a guardian, ussually its because they just walk through all my crowd control and i cant stop them from attacking me?…
also any advice what to do versus it?
I play pvp allot of the time and i fully agree with all the OPs statements, so much that ive made several threads talking about this ‘balance’ meta.
there is reall balance to be achieved but the cookie cutter builds you see everyone use/abuse should get nerfed and the classes wich dont get played should get buffed THATs how you balance a game. not by totally revising every class from the core or do drastic stuff like remove critical damage, for instance people will always find something else to do there meta-bidding untill there is some actuall delicate balance, the problem is is that the game should be updated every week for small tweaks. not once every 3 months with an entire new range of skills and new meta so people can explore what the next overpowered meta is.
I dont understand why anet isnt doing this as of now, (no balance team?)
its not hard to see the few skills that are overpowered in this meta the only thing required is a dedicated eye on it and actually acting on seeing the meta evolve too drasticly.
I mean by now healing signet has been one of the easiest skills for warriors to never die what about tweaking that skill every week untill its at its right spot? Do this with all the skills in such a delicate fashion so eventually you will have true balance. instead of every season a new meta. (first it was dps, now its condition, and its slowly turning into bunkering because thats what works vs the meta atm)
There are no reall legit anti meta builds that work in any stage in the game atm.
(you go full blown anti condi and you instantly do no damage, no support, nothing to really shine through, except maybe make yourself more sturdy so you can atleast turtle and stay alive versus everything. Tada bunker meta. But is it good for the game and fun?
Hey guys,
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Arcane_Echo
This is what i wanted to talk about, why is there no such skill to really start focussing on a spec as an ele anymore?
I remember farming mobs in gw1 with this +meteor/meteor shower and nowadays there is literally no skill like it, i understand the damage potential in dungeons with it and why it shouldnt be added.
The thing i wanted to talk about is how can we get this skill back ingame without it being overpowered. It would help versatility and would give the elementalist something to really be versatile at any moment (for example, if in spvp the staff elementalist just switched from water to earth and something that deals allot of damage the potential to switch attunement isnt there and you would just get insta downed by conditions, stuns, spike damage, anything for 10 whopping seconds)
My idea was to add it with a slight variation, instead of straight up copying the skill why cant it copy a stat of the skill? for instance if i cast meteor shower and there is no damage but the combo field for fire does get started with it in the same radius as the skill would be or healing rains condition removal will remain as does the water field but without any actually healing (but capability to blast the water field remains), this would make up for more survivability and more skilled combo plays/teamplays and give the ele a reall boon up if untouched. On the other hand since it has a huge cooldown and it only works with the spell you cast previous to that it also has the potential to be totally useless if you get spiked from behind (example, you want to cast a meteor shower with tornado and suddenly a thief jumps your back, you cant sustain in fire so you quickly switch to water and use something like a healing rain or ur auto-attack skill pops, wich means the thief completely negated the effects of the arcane echo rendering it useless due to you needing to quickly react and make you cast something you dont want ur huge cooldown skills to be on. i feel this would promote the skillgap of the ele even more but also add to the general utility of the class.
Also i feel this skill should ONLY affect weapon skills, otherwise you could abuse it too much in my personal opinion. This would instantly solve the problem with the huge cooldowns the elementalist has and give people who understand the class something to work with. since at this stage i feel the cooldowns of most skills are just way too long wich gives enemies the ability to fully heal up and instantly reset the fight after dodging once or twice.
i understand this is just ‘randomly’ making a skill and posting it on the forums, but me as an old gw1 player would love to see this ‘meta’ ele skill from gw1 back in gw2.
And was thinking on balancing it.
Thoughts?
I agree with OP, condi ruins the game in this state.
People complaining to him about how there condis are fine are dillusional.
The problem is where people think nerfing condi means its automaticly not viable.
Wich is NOT the case. If you nerf something overpowered the goal is to get it balanced, not to remove it.
And right now Condition bunker is overpowered.
Right now its in the state of being the only things thats viable. It defeats everything. and the people saying how its otherwise simply just cookiecutter DPS.
Well, right now its JUST conditions with a few bunkers since all the cookiecutter DPS are crying on the forums because condi is overpowered.
With the ferocity nerf Anet shouldve also figured out a way to reduce the way conditions are stacked or do damage because after that, condi started to be new meta because its the only way to do sick damage whilst also being in bunker making you never die.
Anet should punish mass conditions with either mass removal, nerf the condition damage itself or make bunker condi unviable.
It is interesting to read what most of you say regarding voting where priority is needed. In the instance what people are saying here means that the communitys only reall role is to point out big issues where everyone agrees on.
I mean, balance is hard to get to so that will definatly take a while before thats fully settled i feel.
I do hope housing is an important part at anet since thats what ive been looking for in gw2 for some time, playing other ‘lesser’ mmo’s with housing just for that feature. Hope the community can make a point there.
As one of few but many, i have spent countless hours in guildwars 2. So much that i literally have everything i want (skin wise/equip wise).
You might consider me as a hardcore player.
The few things i enjoy at this moment is getting weapon ticket skins, guild runs, pvp and organised wvw.
I have never liked the farming mentality and only done it a few times to spend time waiting for updates and so on. So in general there is no need to farm if you just like playing and set your sights on some goals equipment wise to get.
There are a few things that bother me, the balance in general and a lack of goal (since i have already achieved it and i feel theres not much else).
But thats not what i wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about how everyone in this game seems to want something different then the next bloke around, if there is someone saying Yay theres always someone saying Nay. There are people who loved the living story 1 ,there are people who hated the living story 1, there are people who love the hardcore mentality and there are people who only abide by the cassual laws of maximum 1 hours a week play.
I have always wondered why there is such a diverse group of people still in guildwars 2 with such different goals. It is all because the game has the potential to become anyones dreamgame because there is somuch that could be done. But having the hope and potential from a cassuall player who hopes he too can get a legendary some day, in the upcomming week… Or the hardcore who wants that 6th legendary because it was such a road to get to collecting so many… those people will never agree, Guildwars 2 is in my eyes in a stalemate situation, trying to catter all various different people who play there game whilst still making the game Anet/NCsoft wants to make.
I always wondered why there was never an option to ‘vote’ for new content, ofcourse we all remember the cutthroat politics voting but thats not exacly what i mean.
There are so many complaints, why cant we do this on an actuall political level, make votes about the biggest wants in guildwars and see who backs it up or wants it totally different, give out polls every week, and if its possible every day to figure out what the brunt of the community wants from this game. This way people will not live in the illusion of ‘hope’. But will know what they get, ofcourse some people will leave due to this. But i dont feel after all these years that guildwars shouldnt set straight what it wants to achieve WITH its community. so the game can trully flourish.
In the end a happy customer will always return. So instead of trying to hook us on something that will eventually fail due to us, the community, having too many different hopes let the people decide and get a great succesfull game with much profits instead!
Oh and btw eurantien, he doesnt play DPS staff ele he plays support.
Maybe its not such a L2p issue after all.
It is DEFINATLY not fine.
I was talking about being magelike character NOT a boring tank.
Theres no point in bunkering if you cant cap or do damage and with celestial runes + no reall attack power you dont even scratch the surface of an autoheal warrior.
Staff ele is NOT fine. just because you can turtle with it doesnt mean its fine.
Well the fact is and remains the more ppl show up in this thread the bigger it gets the more attention it gets, if everyone wants housing its good for profits and for the community, so i say Yay let the thread grow!
It is something ive been wanting in any MMO sadly i havent played any recent mmos to actually gained that sort of access.
it would definatly make me spend my gold somewhere and give some feel for endgame content thats used other then your character (since mines already totally decked out and i dont really feel the need to get another character all shiny)
also im r44 in Pvp atm.
Well it really was the only problem the water 3 GM, im seriously wrecking right now in all forms, but im carrying allot aswell at the same time.
also warriors/guardians are still overpowered having mass stability/never die.
Any ideas on what to do vs those?
Because it seems one part of my problems was those 2 classes, guardian turtling forever and even rezzing people in the midst of a teamfight and warrior just simply does the knockdown combo and you cant recover to punish cuz there is no possiblity to punish with that much armor/hp/regen if you cant even crowdcontrol due to stability.
warrior just OP?
I just changed the trait and you are right, it was the problem all allong. i do insane dps with insane healing now, sadly im carrying allot of my team, any suggestions on where to find good teammatchmaking outside of the game?
And no point eura, its somethingg personal if people call me lowskilled, due to me also playing starcraft 2 at a high level. So theres no reall reason for me to not have the same dedication and skill in guildwars 2 when it comes to skill.
