Lmao Thief def does not have it easiest seeing how they are nerfed every patch, and neither do Mes being nerfed every other patch .

They wouldnt need to keep nerfing Thief if they did 2 things:
1) Remove Initiative. Turn weapons into proper cool downs
2) Fix StealthMesmer has the same problem, ONE aspect making it to hard to balance the whole class and that would be Phantasms and Phantasm builds – which they seem to be trying to push players into example would be the new healing signet.
or they could give every class initiative system.
Cool down is so 10 years ago Zzz – didn’t sign up for this.
Class does matter I think.
My win percentage went way up with a bunker war versus my skirmish thief.
On my thief I could always get a ton of kills, which didn’t really amount to much in the end. But on the warrior I’m always just holding points which ends up winning the match more often than not.
If you can use a build that can reliably bunk mid then you can move way up in the leaderboards I think. That’s if you can consistently keep the point when it’s 1v2 against you. If you can hold it 1v2 for like 20 seconds reinforcement will come eventually and that can allow you to successfully hold mid.
Team that holds mid for extended period of time usually wins in my experience.
We can decide this with a 1v1 tournament of some kind.
People with this attitude are why 99% of GW2 players avoid PvP. I’m serious.

well i guess you have to run with shadow arts based thief below 30% HP, because last refuge procs at 25% health and that thing can be unpredictable.
Class balance is anything BUT fine. Medium classes are just about worthless.

Not gonna lie, the thief changes are absolutely garbage. Better kick thieves further down the hierarchy of classes.
Adding recharge mechanism on top of initiative is a little bit excessive, I agree.
But I fully support a COMPLETE rebuild of thief class, scrapping the entire stealth and stealth attack mechanism to let it fight head on like other classes.
Kind of want a complete rebuild at this point. Scrap stealth entirely and make it more assassin-like.
GL with warriors, you have to be masochist if you’re still playing PvP with this pathetic meta anyways. I gave up long time ago and joined the dark side.
Because hardly anyone uses it anymore. Only being able to kill players in gear 40 levels too low, who are surprised enough to just stand there getting hit, is likely the reason.
well Not many places i could go – water would have killed me, and not a chance i could have out ran him. Plus being a Melee build and not equipping my Staff made it that little bit harder to actually be a threat and be safe.
Still for having really bad gear, getting him down to under 20% like 3 times wasnt too bad

I haven’t submitted it to the bug section, part of me still wants to believe that ANET devs lurk in this place.
spike heal is always harder to use than heal over time.
like even if healing signet healed the same amount as healing surge over a period of time, healing signet will still be much much easier to use.

Tbh u should not compare anything with s d thief which is one of the issues of this game. I played thief a lot and this weap set /build is just way too permissive.it could be compared to a bunker build for sure. The fact is dp thief can kill hambow warriors , but it doesnt mean that warris are fine. Warris can do so much things at the same time like holding a point , being effective 1n1 ,great for team fights , swiftness that hlp to roam if u have to , and so many other things…. You got low risks for high reward , and thats not like the game shuld be on any class.i assume its not the only issue of this game , but its one of the most important atm
Honestly I’m cool with whatever extra nerfs S/D needs, the weapon set is dead to me and most thieves now.
There may be a few top thieves still rocking it, but they’ll be able to rock it with other weaponsets/classes too.
So now that infiltrator’s return is nerfed, people are targeting shadowstep.
After that is nerfed, it will be shadow refuge.

There are a lot of thieves, and other classes pretending to be thieves, but no ANET devs.
it’s because thieves were too hard to catch, so ANET made them easier to catch, but to compensate, made hard to catch easier to attain so now they’re even harder to catch.
Thief is a dps class not a support one, the only thing thief needs to do is burst/stealth imo, if you want to support your team change class.

Firstly there are no roles in this game.
Secondly Venom Share is a group spec and it was just buffed.
Besides what’s the point of playing a spec that everyone, especially rangers hate? Burnfall makes a daily stealth hate topic and you say the only thing it needs to do is burst/stealth aka what rangers hate most? You contradict your class representative man.

I used similar strategy for another issue in Diablo 3, and it worked out like after a couple of months. (Expanding the number of buffs shown in tooltip)

I have to admit some of the dungeons in GW1 were hard, but I did mostly alliance battles which were a ton of fun. I played an SF elementalist. For me, they ruined elementalist when they turned it into its current abomination…
The level of difficulty of GW1 won’t fly in GW2 simply because they want basically everyone and their mom to be able to finish it since there aren’t any roles and you can’t change builds like in GW1. If you’re looking for a “hardcore” MMO experience you’re literally getting the opposite since this is the most casual MMO I know of/have played.
Queen’s gauntlet is probably gonna be the hardest content we’ll ever get.

I’ve never been kicked for being a thief but I rarely, if ever, join a pug.
Then how do you know what’s best for PUGs?

i’ve been kicked many times for being a thief (you know because you never get accepted into the team in the first place), but never for not using full zerk.

I saw sizer beat a 4x signet warrior in sPvP in one of those 1v1 rooms yesterday with S/D (lol) set. That was an intense fight to say the least.
But personally I switched to S/P even before the patch. It’s a lot more defensive set which is imo needed with extreme nerf of IR.
Still an issue after yesterday’s hotfix during WvW reset.

its all about perspective, thief = invincible in nearly all trash mob situations (dredge being the only exception) plus the massive ar(censor)senal of evades, 30+ seconds of party-wide stealth, I don’t see how you could think thief is squishier than warrior
Blind only works on trash…and they’re called trash for a reason, cuz they really are trash.
Disabling shot has delay due to aftercast, it’s not a very reliable evade. Same thing with flanking strike. IR was just nerfed. I’d rather have the high HP, armor, and healing signet instead of these unreliables evades.
Stealth is useful for skipping trash…..but skipping content is boring and not something I like doing anyways.

PW has 0.5s activation time. That’s not what I’d call reliable. Same thing with flanking strike. Made worse by having to wait for aftercast time.
Dodge is a lot more reliable than either of those.
Any damage a thief can avoid, a warrior can. Those weapon skill evades are not very reliable for avoiding all damage. A warrior still has the mitigation advantage here.

Difference is warrior can actually take this damage while thief can’t.
Disabling shot is useful for kiting champions but I don’t use it a lot. I thought you used shortbow vs liadri. Are you saying you didn’t use disabling shot?
I don’t know what kind of easy content you’re doing but you can’t avoid all damage.
Besides, even if it was possible to avoid all damage, that doesn’t seem like something I want to do to maximize DPS. Anytime you dodge that’s damage lost.

Does it remove fear or not?
Some person tried explaining to me how IR removes fear since it’s a condition. But it has never cleared fear for me personally which is why I’m skeptical to believe him.

Let me answer for you – optimal for an organized group for a speed run.
I only PUG so that full zerk thing will never be optimal for me. I go in a PUG with the intent to be able to solo everything even if something goes wrong.
Did you even kill liadri? Berserker was the best gear for killing her. Anet makes it very obvious they berserker is superior to all other stats in PvE.
Yep, berserker was not the best for Liadri. P/D condi was the best and almost noone used berserker for doing the achievement with 8 orbs.
I just did a pug AC story and then AC1/2 in full zerk with 2 lvl 48’s and a 35 had little to no problems. I just explained everything clearly and they listened, being nice and helping people will get you a lot further than your “survivability” (which means nothing in this games PvE).
I Liadri in full zerk and got every achievement, that fight only separated those who could figure out fights and those that leans on the crutch that comes in the form of tankyness.
With a thief?
Just for the record I was talking about thief only, as zerk warrior is still tankier than a PVT thief. So going by your logic, playing a warrior is like relying on a crutch.

I know he’s a good thief though…but even on stream he said he’s playing horrible.
Okay let’s see you solo Horace and the 3 champions that comes before with full zerk and glass build.
More than doable. A Pistol Whip build would demolish all 4.
Actually, a PW build demolishes most dungeons that can be soloed (don’t have group-forced elements like consoles to activate at the same time).
I’d be interested in seeing that. That’s the build I tried (and failed with), but haven’t tried after the patch. Might be easier due to faster cast time of pistol whip.
I know it’s been done before with P/D, but definately not with S/P to my knowledge.

Man this patch was just an epic fail all around. Killed the builds we run, only perplexity cheese is left, how wonderful.
And its indisputable that berserkers is the best gear for all situations in pve and a good majority of all situations in WvW.
How can you say that when you’re not sure if you can kill something in PvE? If berserker and full glass build is the best for all situations in PvE then you would say ofcourse I can kill it.
