i was a bit conservative, i actually feel that this is a big enough nerf to kill off S/D set completely from PvP/WvW.
it is a big nerf if you don’t use it too much, but for competitive play it’s crucial and can be considered as a make or break skill.

I haven’t heard a word of bickering on NSP in a while Especially during the league play. Strange how we can get slaughtered in the PPT game but have such a blast in the open field game.

Of all the servers I have played on Maguuma is a pretty low drama server, nothing really between any of the guilds. Generally speaking Mag is a play as you like and make fun of everyone that takes it too seriously kind of server, which lends well to low drama.
I wouldn’t say we have the best coordination between guilds though. More informal collaboration based on current situation, then overall coordination.
I would rate Maguuma as a very high drama server. Your server got the best forum warriors lmao.
well with pistol whip you’re probably gonna be okay since it gives you evade. but yes, it’s a big nerf.

The patch on the 10th is going to shake things up a lot. I don’t think it’s wise to get worked up until we see what happens.
Remember that not too long ago, the forums were saying the same things—only it was that warriors and necros needed huge buffs, and eles that needed huge nerfs. The forums were always so mad when another patch passed and warriors only received minor buffs. We kept saying that Anet needed to just hurry up and make a huge change. And then they did.
2 different groups complaining here.
Pre buff: warrior and necro mains demanding buffs.
Post buff: everyone else demanding nerfs.

Case in point: For the first 6 months of SC2: Heart of The Swarm everyone complained the Widow-Mine unit was OP. They have not released any balance patches effecting the unit, and now everyone complains it is underpowered and needs a buff. Players simply evolved their play and learned counter it. Now, professional players don’t use it any more.
uh looks like widow mine was nerfed , and it’s about to get a smaller nerf now.

We’d like to tweak the changes on the current balance test map a little bit this week.
Instead of doing the Revelation range buff, we’d like to try a change where units that are hit by Revelation can’t remove it by simply burrowing or cloaking. Burrowing or cloaking will still hide the unit, but unburrowing/uncloaking will reveal it again.
We’d also like to try a lesser version of the Widow Mine nerf. Right now, we feel just straight downgrading to the 1.25 range is too big of a nerf. Therefore, we’d like to try a change where widow mines don’t do full damage. Units within the 1.25 radius will take 100% damage like we’re testing right now. From 1.25 to 1.75, units will take 50% or 25% of the full damage. This way, the total splash radius is the same as is on live, but the actual damage output is still nerfed.
Edit to clarify:
Here’s how we’re intending the Widow Mine change to work:
Units inside a 1.25 radius take 100% damage. (40 damage)
From 1.25 to 1.5, units take 50%. (20 damage)
From 1.5 to 1.75, units take 25%. (10 damage)
And to all the bitter people. Be happy that Arenanet is trying to make something happen (even if its babysteps at a time). You could be playing wow where 75% of the 3v3 teams at the top are warriors….with no fixes incoming untill far in to 2014.

@OP: l2p dude, seriously. I multiclass every single profession in this game and thieves (especially backstab) are only strong in wvw right now (and even there they aren’t as broken as condi mesmers/necros/warriors or pretty much half of the stuff you see roaming).
S/F Zerker ele, glkittenter mesmer, Static Discharge engi, DPS meditation guardian, and I am pretty sure there is a number of other specs. All of these DO deal MORE DAMAGE than backstab thief does.
Not to mention the backstab spec is not even the apex build for pvp right now.
Also just wanted to say, 10/30/0/0/30 I believe it is, is D/p and it does pretty well in pvp, and it uses backstab. Just cause it’s not D/D doesn’t mean it doesn’t use backstab. There are viable dagger builds. Not saying they’re OP, I’m just saying they’re more out there than you think. Also, I’m fairly certain 10/30/0/0/30 builds will be a little better off after the patch because it doesn’t use any initiative traits, so they’ll have better init gain. (Unless I’ve forgotten about some other nerfs that would hurt them specifically)
all tPvP thief builds use initiative traits. Do you even play thief?
Actually, D/P 25/30/0/0/15 and 10/30/0/0/30 only use Infil Sig, Opportunist and Klepto for ini regen, both traits just being a minor trait consequence, not intentionally taken.
Those are all ini regen traits/skill and you’re just arguing semantics now.

I’m sort about Backstab’s coefficient of 2.4. You must have difficulty defeating thieves with your Rifle’s Kill Shot’s coefficient of 3.75. :c

If you’re talking about the cast time, then I could always mention that you first have to, y’know, see your enemy coming, and then you have to react extremely quickly; not burning all of your evades is probably going to be necessary, because the effects of being 1-shotted are disastrous otherwise.
Either way, that’s over 150% of BS’s damage; of course it should have some weaknesses.
i wonder why rifle was never a viable weapon in tpvp.
I just used it in sPvP. Created a warrior 20 mins ago, was too lazy to find a good build online. I just created a GC rifle build and it worked extremely well compared to other BS’d builds I’ve made in the past.
and i run my thief naked in spvp, real cool story.
tbh i don’t think it would matter if thief has armor on or not, they get one shot either way haha

i like this fractal, it’s a decent challenge. one possible improvement is to make it so you can not just skip all the dredges on your way to place the bomb and should have to kill them first.

It’s actually a good thing imo. Because then it becomes really obvious who the OP one is when any Joe Schmo can roll one and find out for themself in a minute. I’d rather it be this way tbh.
Then again, it’s kinda funny a mesmer make this topic because all the warriors say “any decent mesmer crush them in 1v1”, it’s probably their only counter right now.
