It’s really not OP at all. If you’re having issue with it, roll a thief for awhile and play to understand its weaknesses.
Am I the only one who see how overpowered this would be?
I mean AoE dmg+poison at 1200 range from an off-hand? >.<’
This is too good in comparison to SB’s Choking Gas. :/
EDIT:
Don’t get me wrong, I like it for my S/D, but I have to be honest how broken this would be.
Not worried about that right now. ANET will do the final tuning.
I have reset my fights with necros and other condi classes before. I feel bad about doing it to necro now =(. I mean, I’ll still totally do it but I just won’t /dance on their corpses any more.
I do it to necro as well, but it’s because they’re almost like a counter to my build. I don’t feel bad though. I mean mobility is obviously their weak trait, and capitalizing on their lack of mobility makes total sense to me.
I do the same thing against D/P thieves. It’s one of the shortcomings with that set that anyone who knows about can easily exploit. Widely considered to be a cheesy set as well, they have no room to complain.
yeah i know , old topic – but i really was in a rage after having played around 60 tounrys yesterday evening.
M+S/GS or M+S/Hammer warriors all day log , at least 2 in every game.
I finally though, well if you can’t beat em , join em.
Its rediculous how much their healing signet heals , combined with 3k armor and 2k toughness.
And the dmg they are still able to push is enough to kill every profession thats not a bunker !
I missed so many Skullcracks -> HundredBlades it was really really bad, but i still won any 1v1 i had. .. so stupid !
I’ve around 20 tPvP games on my warrior and about ~ 1300 on my thief, but right now i feel so more important for my team when playing Warrior // it’s really sad.
You playing solo Q? What rank are you? I heard that top 100 solo Q everyone is a m/s + GS warrior!
I just wanna talk a bit about 4 signet build cuz I use that for PvE.
I think 4 signet build for PvE is okay, but situationally you may want to swap in shadow refuge or smokescreen or maybe shadow step as the situation demands.
I don’t think it’s okay for WvW. Shadow refuge is pretty much a must if you want to get out (used defensively can evade from zergs, offensively used can basically guarantee a stomp). You should also bring at least 1 stunbreaker.
What should I use for a stun breaker?
There are 3 choices. Roll for initiative , Shadow step, infiltrator’s signet.
Personally I like infiltrator’s signet but shadow step is popular as well. They’re both pretty popular it really depends on your taste.
What I like about infiltrator’s signet is it’s instant cast, can be reduced to 24s cooldown, synergizes really well with most builds because of the passive initiative regen. The con is it doesn’t remove 2 conditions like shadow step on return and if used for stun breaking you should maybe combo with a dodge immediately after use since it teleports you TO the target rather than away, also beware to use the stunbreak after you’re already on the ground when it’s a Knockdown otherwise i think it will fail to stunbreak.
Most sword builds will take infiltrator’s signet. Most dagger builds will take shadow step. (for obvious reasons)
I don’t understand the last part. Why is sword = infiltrator’s signet and daggers = shadowstep?
Sword has built in shadow return, dagger doesn’t.
Oh, okay.
I was wondering about condition removal actually. It seems like in WvW the only signets worth using are signet of malice and signet of shadows? Should I use shadowstep and shadow refuge for the other two utilities if I am using D/P?
Thanks for your help.
Signet of malice is not very popular in WvW actually. Withdraw and HIS are a lot more popular since they offer more utility.

2. do not try to compensate your stats with signet
more raw stats cannot compensate with utility from shadow refuge /shadowstep /blinding powder etc.
The signets are more than just raw stats.
Infiltrator signet – 24s cd 900 range shadow step, can be used to break stun.
Signet of agility – party condition removal, party endurance refill as well
Signet of Shadows – passive 25% movement speed, you can’t get 25% movement speed with stats from other places, active blind helps for stomping and instant blind when CC’d.
I just wanna talk a bit about 4 signet build cuz I use that for PvE.

I still see healing signet being used even though healing surge is supposedly the best.
For me, it’s Liadri the Concealing dark – no contest.
First fight in PvE to really push me to the limit, and the build I ended up using to finally defeat her is what I use for PvE now and it pwns!
Thanks Liadri
As S/D engies are fun to fight against. I think those roaming engies are kind of suprised when they lose to a thief…you can tell they are not used to it judging by how aggressive they are when they see me
Sigil slots for legendary weapons next update
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

legendary trinkets and armor should also retain the orb/rune slot imo.
healing signet can afford a nerf and wars will still be on top of their game. If you reduce the heal by 20% it will have a balancing effect moreso than a nerf.
So that the warrior in the video can lose even harder to an OP joke of a class thief that deals massive damage but has huge sustain because of all the evades (and stealth if it was even used)?
You’re funny.
I see some pitiful damage done by the thief. He was only barely breaking even with warrior sustain. So if the warrior is healing back all that “Massive damage” so that means warrior sustain is “massive” as well?
Looks like Ivis knows what’s up.
I made that topic a month ago, so it’s definately a necro but still relevant as warriors haven’t been nerfed since except for the minor rampage nerf.
Necro or AoE Condi in general wrecks them.
S/D thief is not OP, it is however a counter to boon-reliant builds such as D/D ele.
TC seems good. we win about 50% of the time.
No more players are needed in TC.
Failure rate in TC is actually high because you always get into an overflow instead.
lol 1200 HS, cleaving backstab.
what’s wrong with frostgorge?
I solo’d a twisted portal yesterday night. I didn’t think it was gonna be possible but I pulled it off. Got into a tricky spot when 2 veterans engaged me at the same time along with the adds but it was fun.
Veterans in my case. Never been hit by the champ’s one AFAIK.
Interesting. I’ll try to see whether the veteran or champion hits harder later tonight.
Would be good for D/D, weakness condition may be redundant for S/D though. Change the weakness to poison.
15-16k health for thief is not low though I guess I have more health than you.
How much health you got? I’m curious how I can improve mine
15-17k depending on WvW bonuses and build.

Just to confirm, are you guys talking about the champion aestherblade thug’s warbanner??
This is what it hits my thief for:

It does usually spike me to low health but not an anomaly as far as I’m aware. But I guess that IS the hardest hitting attack as far as scarlet invasions go.

what do you mean by blind invulnerability? would that be passive or active effect?
Active ofc 5 secs of blind invul, like engis skill .
Well i use SoS Since launch i’ll never drop it. i like the stomp utility. Can you link me that engie skill?
Yea I like to use it for stomping sometimes, but if the opponent were smart they’d clear the blind off by AAing you first, then use their anti-stomp skill.
That’s why you use it just before you complete your stomp and they use their counter, works flawlessly every time.
That’s how I use it but then sometimes they use their counter before I use the signet.
It’s fine just like stealth stomping. If you’re downed you deserve to die.
Even if you feel that downed does not mean beaten, you have to agree that the advantage is supposed to go to the one standing. To make it so no class can stomp vs cc is ridiculous and shifts the advantage to the stompee. Also, as many have stated, unless the thief uses shadow refuge, their stealth will wear off before they complete the stomp.
How long does stomp animation take to complete? CND stealth lasts for kitten unless stomping takes longer than 4 seconds it shouldn’t be an issue.
Looks like superior rune of perplexity is indeed OP and needs to be nerfed.
I’ve found the aetherblades and everything else harder in higher zones.
Well I’d agree for ‘everything else’.
What is your level and gear quality btw? And what do you tend to use for survival (like health, armour, high evasion, healing, and combinations thereof)?
As I said earlier I’m not entirely sure if it’s them or me scaling weirdly. They’re (IME) by far the most dangerous of the invasion mobs anyway, so it’s entirely possible that it’s something like my armour rating scaling horribly, and I only noticed on them because they’re more dangerous to begin with.
Lv80 thief. Primarily exotics with 2 ascended. Combination of health, armor, high evasion, healing for survival.
Stunlock warrior says hi.
I’d love it if your server for WvW was independent of your server for PvE, and WvW transfers were free. That would kill the server stacking meta that exists currently.
Probably not technically feasible without massive changes in “the way things are done.”
How would that kill the server stacking meta? If anything, everyone would just stack to the winning servers and the losing servers would be completely empty.
Does interrupting auto attack count as interrupting a skill?
This directly affects whether or not superior rune of perplexity is OP or not.
Warrior or guardian.

It should just automatically kill the boss upon entering.
25% speed boost + constant cripple on the enemy is no joke. Combat mobility is very important imo (especially if you melee). In most cases yes the 25% speed boost is much better than the active blind effect, though I guess also depends on your build and whether you can reliably apply cripple on your opponent.
Looks like it’s going to get nerfed. (into the ground)
It’s fine. You’ve already lost if you’re in downed state. Mist form and other invul skills are much more OP for stomping.
what do you mean by blind invulnerability? would that be passive or active effect?
I particularly like the 25% speed, since i dont use bow, its imperative that mobility boost.
But i still say it, it need something else lol
like what? personally, SoS has never left my bar :P
well considering it’s a signet, somehow you can use it even when CC’d. you can’t use any of your regular blinds in that case like black powder or shadow shot. so you can be knocked down and prevent the next hit. only shame is it only blinds once xD but still can be rather powerful.
the problem is the passive is too good to let go :P
(edited by Excalibur.9748)
signet of shadows already does AoE blind and 25% movement speed. it’s pretty much on every thief’s bar
You have to be kidding me. The most faceroll class requiring least skill is still not good enough?
I’m using S/P and P/P and built pretty tanky and doing pretty well in these zergs.
I am playing WvW at the moment, look at this and tell me fast, how many blue icons you see in the green borderland?
I am 99,99% sure this change is for colorblind people, but now we are all colorblind.
All of them are green right?
The new blue is horrible.
