So the general concensus actually seems to be that all other trees are more or less okay except for deadly arts which is bad.
I wonder if devs did this on purpose to screw over burst thieves which were strong at one point I guess.

roamers are better in higher tiers than lower tiers in my experience

Condition removal comes from infiltrators strike it’s a built in stun breaker and condition removal. It takes up to 2 off, if you use the build you should already know this i don’t know why a your asking this question.
Well it removes a condition at a time, so you’re saying you really do spam it that many times to get rid of conditions?
I used it to great effect against P/D thieves before, but since condi was more or less buffed recently with torment and necro buffs etc. I actually think condi spam is a counter to S/D.
I do usually win against condi builds by simply outdamaging them but I don’t see how it’s a counter.
And besides it USED to be a stun breaker, now it’s only a pseudo-stun breaker. Still great, but it used to be better.
Just heard from another thief that traiting pain response is a great additional way to deal with condis maybe you can work it into your build considering it is sold as anti-condi.

I run S/D shortbow as well with 30/30/5/5/0 but without lyssa runes however I use HiS so in terms of condition removal it seems to be about the same. I fail to see how it is a counter to condi spam, however anti bunker I can sorta see…but not vs mace/shield + GS warrior since they don’t really rely on boons to bunk. They rely on adrenal healing, shout healing, banners, healing signet to get to 1k HP/sec along with 4k+ armor and good damage.
I don’t know if S/D is the strongest kit we have but I like it and have been using it even before larcenous strike was buffed.

No, it’s not, at least not in current meta.
In this condi spam meta, S/D thieves give you absolutely no time to react, neither to reposition yourself properly, mostly due to
1. handling an S/D thief is already hard, doing it while being chilled, feared, crippled and DOTed to death is almost impossible, especially for low hp pool classes
2. these low hp pool classes are already very team oriented ( mesmer, ele) , in some cases mostly due to unnecessary/bad thought nerfs ( ele case) or due to outstandigly strong U-skills which detracts from self sustain capabilities ( mesmer case) and since S/D thief can jump from a target to another with very little cost ( great 1vs1 capabilities, with low burst but very high sustain), S/D thief basically removes them from the meta till condi spam is fixed ( and the game becomes skill based again).
As i said, it’s not that S/D thieves are THAT OP, they’re OP in THIS meta.
S/D thieves actually get rolled by mass condi spam , especially AoE condis which is prevalent in this meta.
Infil strike can not be spammed since shadow return range is greater than infil strike range. So therefore it can be used every 15s as a gap closer otherwise it will be counterproductive for that purpose.

Stop the gear treadmill or make it possible to gain all ascended gear with only playing in WvW.
No more jumping puzzles. They suck. Bring out more challenging boss encounters like Liadri though!
I’ve tested it in a handful of situations, and it does seem to only apply to items that replace your weapon bar. General consensus seems to be (really no idea how to test this proper) that it bolsters WvW siege weapon. At this point, it should probably be an engineer trait. We can trade them. We’ll take… um… I don’t know, how about Incendiary Powder. I’m sure they’re not using it. <.<;
I will test this to find out about potential siege damage increases. (That would be OP giggle)

Really don’t think S/D is OP, but that may just be me running 30/30/5/50 and not running energy sigil or 2 S/D sets.
So if we start with the idea that single S/D is balanced, like where is the problem? Is it energy sigil? Is it running 2 sets of the same weapons? Or is it quick recovery?

Mace/Shield + GS healing signet warrior is a lot more OP anyways.
It’s really annoying because deadly arts SHOULD be the power/condition duration tree. The stats makes sense, but the traits are underwhelming.
I still want orb slots on the legendary trinkets.
They announced you can chose stats out of combat so i thought you obviously could.
sigils are more about effects though.
Could we get a dev comment on this please? I think this would make legendary weapons too OP. especially if on kill stacks are not removed like bloodlust.
There is counterplay:
VS D/P thief: kite him away from the black powder
VS D/D,S/D,P/D thief: dodge the CND
What you really want is MORE counterplay I guess, and making the thief into a kitten warrior. Because really no matter how many buffs the thief gets, it will never be as good as a war. (minus stealth)
In terms of traits, not the stat bonuses:
Deadly arts – underwhelming. Could stand to be buffed a bit.
Critical strikes – in a good place. most thieves take this.
Shadow arts – good and most stealth thieves take this.
Acrobatics – good and most non-stealth thieves take this
Trickery – underwhelming. Could stand to be buffed a bit
Buff deadly arts and trickery to open up more options, and we will have balanced trait trees imo.

its totally insane how a class with stealth can just pop it and even when hit directly remain in stealth, classes like thief just stealth spam using cloak and dagger and reset a fight at will, it takes no great feat of skill to just spam stealth nonstop stabing a player who has no clue where you are.
yes I have an 80 thief.
Stealth should not remove target lock, you should regain lock once they appear.
stealth should not be stackable.
stealth should be removed when they attack and are blocked.
any and all action from stealth should remove stealth.
if you take a direct hit (not aoe) you should have stealth removed.Right a thief complaining about the thief class and want’s it nerfed. Geez man we never heard that one before.
Thief is balanced atm , stealth is fine since you can knockback/knockdown/stun and kill a thief in stealth. I got hit by skullcrack and got dazed for 5 seconds yesterday in shadow refuge.
skullcrack stuns, not daze. Stun is a lot more lethal too. Actually changing the stun on skullcrack from a stun to daze might be a good fix.
I feel sorry for rangers, they always get nerfed because they’re good in sPvP but bad everywhere else because they balance around sPvP.
Meanwhile warriors are good everywhere else and bad in sPvP (or was bad cuz they’re now OP everywhere). But in order to make them good in sPvP it means to make them godlike in PvE and WvW. So they keep getting buffed to ridiculous levels.

I don’t have any pictures yet since I just did it and my game is on a different comp, but I finally did it after 500+ attempts and about 160 gold for making my Mesmer and Guardian level 80 with full gear. I even tried using my Ele for it since she’s my main, but that ended in flames xD My one guildie baby-step’d me through it for my Guardian; Knight’s/Zerker/Cleric gear socketed for boon duration and 0/0/30/30/10 traits. Most of my strategy was using Retaliation on her the whole fight and then using Scepter 1 in phase two. I was so determined to beat her since I play to escape the fact that I can’t do much IRL due to disability… I feel so awesome now that I finally did it C:

If you’re going solo I would recommend Valkyrie and Soldier combo with Hidden Killer.
If you’re running with a decent group, you can go crazy and go full ’serker and Executioner.
IMO, precision is a crap stat.

Definite nerf for this rune. I predict a nerf into the ground with internal cooldown instead of stack reduction.
You can combo infiltrator signet -> infiltrator’s strike -> steal for a super shadow step which covers a lot of distance and it’s really instant even though it’s 3 skills and opens with victim immobilized and poisoned and weakened (depending on your traits)

Voted healing signet for all 3.
I think conceptually it makes sense (if the 3 heals were balanced perfectly) to use Healing Surge when you’re full zerk, and mending when your build lacks condition cleanse but in reality healing surge is so good now that you feel forced to take it for any scenario. Doesn’t matter if you’re full zerk or have no condition cleanse, healing signet is still the best by far.
I use shortbow like 75% of the time in WvW.
It’s obvious OP’s main is warrior which is currently OP. Move along nothing to see here.
These runes are cheap as hell.
Even though you need to interrupt people (which implies you need some skill to do that like in GW1 but not the case here), even auto attack has cast time so you can basically spam it for interrupts. Furthermore every action the enemy take makes them take damage, that includes healing, using some mobility skill to run, or even just auto attacking.

Veteran Aetherblade thug’s battle standard. Didn’t really do that much damage…but there were like 4-5 other aestherblades so I ended up getting 1 shot from the cumulative damage lol.
