This is mainly for original Guild Wars players.

As you were walking around, doing dynamic events, renowned hearts or whatever you were up to, did you ever get a flashback and thought ‘’Wait a second, I recognize this area!’’

Sadly, this never happend to me when I was leveling. I think the first reason is the graphics, the graphic in Guild Wars 2 are beautiful and stunning, it’s so different compared to original Guild Wars I couldn’t recognize things. The second reason is because Tyria have changed over the past 250 years; landslides and flooding have changed Tyria a lot.

But recently I have taken interest in going to places and look if I can rezognize them. I walked on the path in Plains of Ashford where you started your Prophecies character when you were on your way to the Sardelac Sanitarium.

And of course there is the fountain underwater in Lion’s Arch.

TLDR; You who played original Guild Wars, was there any place under your leveling you recognized?

Whatever you find to be interesting.

I’m pretty angry because I didn’t get The Horseman’s Reins this Halloween either.

So far I haven’t seen any MMO doing seasonal events like Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 is far superior in this.

Halloween was a blast, I loved it.

I disliked Lost Shores.

Winter’s Day have been epic so far and have really put me in the mood.

The gods haven’t shown themselves for the humans in the hour of need.

I don’t think they will show themselves for a hoilday event.

You know the snowman who breathes out air on you and makes you fall?

Guardians block that all the time because of Aegis, so we can’t fall down.

You guys aren’t being very clear about what we’re supposed to find in here.

I can’t say it’s that hard to read if you hover over with your mouse on the item.

Combine in the mystic forge with 250 mystical cogs, wads of enchanted stuffing, and drops of magic glue to make a Toy Ventari mini pet.

We managed to 2 man it so it’s easy.

Going to try to solo it now, as a Guardian.

Little bit let down because how easy it was, I did it after 3 times, about 8 – 10 minutes.

Oh well, I guess you have to be nice on Winter’s Day.

Hello there.

I guess my question pretty much is, have anyone any tips for the elite skill tomes?

Is Tome of Wrath only good for AoE purpose? Is it even worth to take in an 1vs1 situation?

Is Tome of Courage only good for healing your allies and buffing them? Is it worth to take it when you 1vs1 someone?

I really like those elite skills because they are rather unique, the animation and all (sad that it sometimes bugs up and you can’t see the book)

Still think that revealing armour looks ridiculous when it’s too much.

I’m not against seeing skin, cleavage, stomach, underboobs and such, it’s just that it looks ridiculous when fighting against big enemies.

They rather save “skimpy” look for Mesmer, Elementalist and Necromancer.

Because Thiefs automatically places themselves in your AoE circles or close to you when they are stealthed.

The bigger the attack area, the more likely you are to hit something. And if they’re going to attack you, they’re going to get close to you.
Not all attacks land when your opponent is visible, so of course you may miss when the target is in visible. If you want save your skills for more sure shots, then at least have the common sense to react when you lose track of a thief. Drop your guard and it’s your fault the thief got the jump on you.

I don’t have problems with Thiefs since I play a Guardian, I can’t kill them, and they can’t kill me.

And of course my hits not always hit when they are visible, but I at least know if they connect or not and it’s easier to decide if you should make an attack or not because you know where he is.

I think it would be interesting to see some of the cultural armor on a different race.

It does not since the cultural armour actually have a “race” requirement and the models of the armours only works for the said race.

I just want to be able to take screenshots without Vistas and /sleep

I also want to be able to read signs or texts overall written in New Krytan so I can translate it without battling with the camera.

The reason there is no deathmatch is because people will just go full damage traited and geared, and just nuke, there is no tactical thinking in it.

The first one to drop is the loser pretty much, It’s just pretty much spam all your buttons and dish out damage.

This could be the heart of the issue here. Stealth isn’t unbalanced, but it isn’t much fun to counter due to the low combat feedback it provides.

Players experience a similar issue in FPS wherein no matter how well-balanced snipers are they’re still straight-up less fun to fight just due to the low-feedback nature of combat with them. Nobody likes being killed without knowing exactly how. FPS developers implemented the “kill cam” to combat this, giving a player immediate feedback on who killed them. Perhaps a similar system is in order for GW2.

I don’t really have any problems in that way.

I simply play a Guardian, all support traited and with vitality & toughness gear. Thiefs can’t kill me, and I can’t kill them.

It’s just that, fighting something that can just turn invisible, and just… disappear, is not fun. It’s not fun fighting 1vs1 against an enemy and suddenly, gone…

I don’t even know if they alt+F4 the game, logged out, rendered away or stealthed.

I have never liked fighting enemies that can just disappear whenever they feel like, and you can’t even prevent them from doing it if you don’t try to stun lock them which doesn’t work, and damage doesn’t break stealth either.

Thief, because fighting enemies that can turn invisible whenever they want is not fun.

If I could be invisible I would do better stuff than killing arrow marked people, like, for example, stand in the WvWvW girls locker room or something.

I have such a weird music taste I don’t think any of the races dances will work well with it.

They should censor it with ‘Rytlock’ instead.

Love using the hammer to trap people inside the ring of warding in WvWvW and let my teammates finish them off.

Sad when people are able to bug out from it by dodging or getting knocked back.

Our server is winning big time, which have made the losing server, the Germans, crazy, and they have taken over the whole jumping puzzle, so you can’t even take drink from the invisibility well because they are shooting randomly at platforms.

Still funny though.

I gave up on a Legendary the moment I saw the lodestones and ectos I need.

And the RNG thing with clovers. Like loads of gold wasn’t enough, but RNG too?

People that are in T3 for prestige should be ready to move on soon. People who were after it for looks will not care.

The Halloween event is a yearly thing, so it’s moot to this topic so I’m not sure why you brought that one up.

The point is that they are giving out items to new players that regular players have no way of obtaining themselves, and that is an unfair way to treat the community.

If you played GW1, then you would know that the Devil Horns and Witch’s() Hat won’t be back next year. There will be new hats for each year. That is how they have always done it. If you didn’t play GW1, check out the wiki on it. You’ll see that every year they released brand new hats for every holiday event. You couldn’t get old year hats.

The last Halloween of original Guild Wars made you able to get any of the hats you wanted through all the years.

I have no problem with the steep price just for the skin. I bought a piece of level 80 Vigil armor for my 40’s mesmer just for the look.

Course I’m one of those horizontal progression freaks that no one wants playing the game any longer. (so I don’t)

That is the main thing I hate, when my enemies can turn invisible, and there is no way to make them come out from it. They can turn invisible too many times, too often.

I don’t think there is any fun at all meeting enemies who can turn invisible.

on the otherhand, making travel (such as the ship to southsun cove) actual events would be nice. right now it seems like a teleport ship. =\ such actual-travel should contain content and maybe occasional enemies to keep you from afk.

I will quit this game immediately if mounts are introduced. Anything that "wow"s it up.

Uh. Yes, they are, if they don’t have the stats they want. I want CoF looks with Power/Vit/Toughness stats? I have to transmute either AC armor or Invaders (WvW) armor to get that (which I have done.) What’s the big deal with having to transmute an armor set to get noth the stats and the looks you want? Yes, we have transtones for this reason, so you can have the stats you want. But you shouldn’t be forced to. Right now, dungeon and karma armor comes in exotic, with 3 different stat options. cultural comes in rare with 1 stat option. They are all equally long term armors. why should one be neglected?

Caudecus’s Manor gear do not have Power / Vit / Tough stats, I must farm another Dungeon to get that gear, and then farm Caudecus’s Manor for the looks.

But I farmed AC to get the pow/vit/tough and then farmed gold to get Tier 3 looks.

I don’t actually mind either way.

The only reason though I can think about is like some kind of upgrade you can do in WvWvW to make mounts or something for your world to get faster around in their own Borderland.

How is it any different from Dungeon or Karma armor which are both long term goals and come with exotic stats? They are all for looks. And the other two come in exotic. That is why it’s a little ridiculous.

Because Dungeon armours and Karma armours are not long term goals, that is why they added ascended gear, or at least is going to, and as said, Dungeon tokens and Karma is no hard currency to earn while gold is pretty much sacred.

And if it is “ridiculous” there’s no reason for people to buy it or even look at it if they don’t really want to go for it.

How good the armor looks is up to the player and subject to personal opinion. Whether or not you like the looks has nothing to do with the topic. Any armor that cost 120G to get should have, at minimal, exotic stats.

Why? It exists for appearance reasons, there’s no need for it to have an orange name or better stats.

This new thing about buying Guild Wars 2 and getting the extra version on the buy for free, plus some extra items and a Wizard Hat.

Since I got Collector’s Edition, will I get the Wizard Hat for free? or do I have to buy it? or can’t I get it at all?

What I used to do in Guild Wars 2

• I didn’t want to log out at all.

• The Halloween event alone kept me occupied a long time. ‘’If ArenaNet is able to send out this kind of content every month, I will be a very pleased costumer.’’ I thought.

• I kept gather gold to get my Human Cultural Heavy Tier 3.

• I enjoyed WvWvW with my friends.

• Explored the world not only for map completion, but for hidden places, easter eggs or even messages written in New Krytan that I kept translating for hours.

What I do in Guild Wars 2 now

• Not really interested to log in anymore after the Lost Shores patch, I’m not interested in gear grind.

• Starting to take a much more interest in Original Guild Wars

• Also thinking about re-subbing to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft game.

• If I do log on to Guild Wars 2, I usually try to do WvWvW and chat with friends

• I haven’t done the fractals yet, not planning to either.

• Lurking the forums for a ray of light response from ArenaNet apologizing, and explaining what’s actually happening to them.

I’m really sad I didn’t play original Guild Wars during it’s prime time. I only started to play it one and a half year ago, and I loved it. I wish I could’ve started to play it sooner.

I logged back in a day ago, but there weren’t many people online at all.

During the start of the game, and all the way to Halloween, I have been playing non-stop, and never wanted to logout from the game. I was up really late and messed up my sleeping hours for school and whatnot.

But when they introduced Ascended gear, I barely log on at all anymore. I don’t even want to log on to the game anymore. When they introduced Ascended gear, I pretty much lost all hope for this game to be the main MMO for me. I lost faith in ArenaNet and I can’t really think of anything that will make them regain my respect again.
