Arenanet, you promised....

Arenanet doesn’t force you to do world completion, that’s your choice. How’s that against their promise?

This I quote.

ArenaNet never ever forced you to do 100% map completion, that’s your own choice. World completion is not needed to succeed in the game. If you wanted to go for a Legendary, It’s your own fault because ArenaNet said from the beginning that getting a Legendary will require to visit every area in the game.

You guys are really good at finding every opportunity to complain and whine about things that is either implemented or not implemented. Seems like everything is something to complain about. Sheesh, life is complicated enough.

Because some people don’t accept getting kitten thrown in our faces. We don’t like to sit down quietly and let someone kick on us and accept it.

OP let me get this straight, you would have prefer to see a cutscenes when you go through a gate right. Hmm as most people have already stated its will get boring really fast, but there is another way to go about what you are asking. What if we get one cutscene for every new location you get to. Let say you new character just get from loins arch to the grove the first time, you character will than Appear in front of the gate in the grove in the cutscene show you the whole city for the first time.

No, you got it wrong.

I already know a cutscene would be annoying after many times as I have already stated. I just said the cutscene when going to Lost Shores was pretty neat.

I just think Asura Gates was a pretty boring option to use when you travel between places.

Yeah, no.

Most of your suggestions would actually be pretty funny for about an hour or two. After the 500th time you try to use a gate and get stuck watching an animation/event/minigame/random condition you’d be less amused and more in the state of mind that puts fists through computer screens.

Asura gates are fast and convenient travelling. That’s it.

I never said you should watch a cutscene 50000000 times. I just said the cutscene taking the boat to Lost Shores was pretty neat since the only thing we use when traveling now is using portals.

The looks of portals everywhere, taking you anywhere looks and feels pretty meh, but the mechanic is really nice for instant traveling.

And then I don’t really care what kind of titles that gets added to the game.

I’m mostly excited about how ArenaNet wants to build on the world they already got than just adding new, and new landmasses and put all the new content there, leaving the old content to die.

That’s what I like the most.

But we already got a thread about Colin Johanson and his blogpost and video so I suggest posting in there.

The shadow seems to be bugged

in Account & Technical Support

I can play Guild Wars 2 at max settings, however, the shadows seems to bug up a lot.

If you look at the attachments, my shadow only shows as a small dot on the ground, and not even under me, but where the head is supposed to be, and it’s like that for a lot of characters I see.

The shadow also seems to fade away when I walk close to it, as seen in the attachments with the shadows from the construct there.

I don’t know what this might be but I just upgraded to DirectX 11, can this be the cause then? I don’t know how it looked like before, I just noticed this now.

And for rest i cant agree on any of it, but hey you got your share of complaining congrats!

I wouldn’t really call it complaining, It’s more like, looking for a more interesting answer!

But yes, I do agree with seeing a cutscene over and over again will bore you out sooner or later, but I didn’t really mean that we should see cutscenes all the time.

What I more meant was, instead of seeing an Asura Gate, perhaps we can see a boat, zeppelin, Charr engine car or whatever that you walk up on instead and press accept to get a loading screen to get to the place, instead of just walking through portals.

I really like these small things that ArenaNet have put into Guild Wars 2.

Brotip: Take your time when you level, do not rush. I know rushing to the max level to do the great stuff is something everyone wants to do, but att this point of time it’s not that much to do just yet. Of course there are things to do, in my opinion more stuff to do than in World of Warcraft, since World of Warcraft is mainly about running dungeons and raids. Guild Wars 2 don’t got that kind of endgame though.

So take your time, and do not rush. Otherwise, rush to all your heart’s content

Farzo.8410

Don’t get me wrong though, I love the mechanic for traveling and such, and Asura gates sure does it’s job, but, don’t you think it’s pretty boring that anywhere you travel, it always seems to be a portal and nothing else?

As an example, if I quote some lore of The Mists.

The Mists is the oldest thing in existence, constituting the fabric of time and space that connects the multiverse together. The Mists is the proto-reality that exists between the worlds which in turn are the building blocks of reality. The Mists resonate from the worlds around them, forming bits of their own reality – islands of existence that reflect the histories of their worlds.

The Mists sounds like a really, really cool place, a place between the worlds, a place that holds space and time, and you can go back in time to re-live it, Fractals being the example here.

But just stepping through an Asura gate and appear there, to me it just feels.. meh.

I know it sounds weird, but I liked the really small cutscene you got when you talk to the boat guy in Lion’s Arch to get to the Lost Shores, you actually took a boat there (Even though you didn’t really see yourself taking the boat).

TLDR; I think Asura Gates is a pretty boring option when you travel to places, make it more interesting!

Edit: Topic name got updated by moderator to fit how it actually is, thanks!

I might have been so used to ‘’casting while running’’ that I haven’t really thought about how the skill actually works. Like the #1 skill on mose of the classes is just an auto-attack, it might be something else for Rangers.

I will play around some more and see what I can do with it.

Sword feels really awkward and static.

in Ranger

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

The strongest point of the Ranger is of course not in melee combat, it’s far in the distant. However, I really liked the concept of a Ranger, being able to be in melee combat.

I have been running around with Sword & Dagger for a short time now, but as said in the thread title it feels really awkward and static. The Ranger is my alt, otherwise I play a Guardian with Sword & Shield and Hammer, but being stuck in place when making attacks feels really annoying, especially if you want your #1 skill to be auto-attack.

I can’t really dodge when I want, and usually take hard hits which either downs me or brings my health really low.

I have no problems with the #2 and #3 skill, only the #1 skill when I can’t really control my character.

Wielding a Sword as a Ranger is a nono? Or can it be put in good use?

My Ranger is only 30+ at the moment.

This event is in a very secluded southern portion of Straits of Devastation. It might have been completed numerous times around the first three weeks of release, but still not nearly as much as the other major events. Many people I have done the Zho’Qafa escort with have told me that they have never done this event, nor did they even know it was down here, let alone that it spawned a glorious chest.

Not very many people currently farm Straits of Devastation, let alone this event. Most people farm in the Cursed Shore or Malchors Leap.

Hello.

I threw this video together (Mind you I’m not so good at video editing) which shows some places around Tyria in original Guild Wars, and Guild Wars 2, how they have changed and whatnot.

Note that some angles and such are not 100% because of restrictions like you couldn’t jump in original Guild Wars and the camera was (somewhat) different.

I’m not really a good researcher either so I have no clue if this kind of video already exists, so sorry for that!

Please, enjoy, break away from the everyday complaint on the forums.

etc.

This is by far the worst leveling system in an MMO that I have seen. You get 1 heart quest which is like a normal type quest as you will, then the rest is farming events in that zone. There are always the same 3 event styles for all zones too. Protect/Escort, Hold off the enemy, kill a boss. Extremely repetitive.

Please don’t say you can pvp, craft, etc. Not everyone likes to do those things. It is so easy to complete a zone 3+ levels below what you should be. I finished the lvl 22 zone or where the lvl 22 zone starts (forgot which way) but I was level 17. So I couldn’t do my story quest and had to either keep farming 5 levels of the same events or have to travel to a whole new 1-10+ zone to keep leveling. Sorry but some people don’t want to have to go to a whole new zone to catch up.

That’s like having to go from Elwyn forest to the gnome starting zone.

Either way all mmo’s quest system seems the same, but at least it works and it gets you to level and be zone ready for each zone.

I have no problems with leveling, I am always at the same level with the zone, and my personally story, I’m never too low, and I’m not too high for the zone either. But that is because I do a lot of things. The game has put up a lot of stuff to do, it’s not really the game, or ArenaNet fault if you choose to ignore everything that makes you gain experience.

I agree, and disagree with some of the points.

Even though it seems that no one run anything except Fractals, I’ve seen a lot of people standing outside, and looking for people for Ascalonian Catacombs, Caudecus’s Manor, Twilight Arbor, Crucible of Eternity and Honor of the Waves. Only Citadel of Flames and Sorrow’s Embrace seems ignored for me.

About the Renowned Hearts, I love them more than typical quests. I hate picking something up, and then run off, to backtrack all the way to the questgiver to get my reward. Now of course, you will have to backtrack anyway if you want to buy anything from the karma vendor, but it is not needed if you just want experience and to continue without going back.

The combat, I think is really fun, but that is of course depending on what profession you are playing, and with what weapon set you use. For example, I think Guardian with Greatsword is the most boring thing ever. The only thing you do is to mash your buttons to give out the most DPS possible, compared to Hammer where every skill does something unique. The first one is the auto-attack, the second is a slam, the third is a snare, the fourth is a launch, the five is a ward which keeps enemies either outside, or inside.

What I meant is that Greatsword is only for damage and nothing else (Obviously because it is a DPS weapon), it got no tactical thinking to it.

The things I agree on, is the loot. The loot is boring, and nothing special, they really boost it up. They shouldn’t really just give us rare items all the time, so the price for globs just skydive down, but perhaps they should add what original Guild Wars had, collector NPCs. Collector NPCs traded certain stacks of something (Let’s say for example, 250 Boring Fish Scale of Boringness) and traded you a really cool item, either it be drinks, food, or special looking armour.

That’s something I would like.

There’s many infractions of ‘’going off-topic’‘. And while I agree on going off-topic shouldn’t appear in a thread discussing something else, I think off-topic posts should just be removed, and not infracted, and the poster should get a notice in something line of ‘’Please, try to stay on-topic and discuss the thread’s contents.‘’ instead of ’’You really are a really good poster, but here’s an infraction and suspension for going off-topic.’’

I still explore the maps in every corner, every cave, and every water, even though I still have 100% map completion, because new things seems always to appear.

I attack anything that looks like a challenge to me. I have started to hunt down Champions in every zone from level 2 to level 80, to see if I can solo them. Sometimes I fail, sometimes I need to change my weapon sets and utlities, sometimes it’s just standing still and auto-attack.

It’s pretty easy overall though since I play a really, really tanked Guardian.

ArenaNet said in a patch that Champions and such will start giving loot, but I have yet to find nothing when killing them.

What I miss from original Guild Wars was the collectors. You could go and farm a special kind of mob for a special kind of loot, the collectors wanted these items and you could trade it in for almost anything.

Some collector’s gave drinks, food, or even special armour items, like the chaos gloves everyone loved.

I think ArenaNet needs to add collectors.

I think Greatsword (At least for Guardian) is really, really boring. You spam the buttons and waste all the skills just to put out damage, and then run around with auto attack until the cool down is over to do the same thing over again.

Compared to Hammer which got different unique skills that you need to spare at the right moment. Enemy is fleeing? Cast skill #3 and then skill #5 to trap it. Enemy is close to a cliff, or charging a spell? Use skill #4 to launch it out from a cliff (WvWvW or SPvP since AI can’t fall off cliffs), or interrupt the spell.

Greatsword is just plain boring, and they have to balance it’s boring skills by making them look really awesome.
