Reflections won't turn off

I have the reflection option turned off, but I still see funky reflections in certain places. Is this feature intended to turn off all reflections? Also, the reflection looks more like double vision than reflections. In this picture the character’s reflection in theory should look farther away than the NPCs since they are further from the surface that does the reflecting.

I agree jumping puzzles should not be in WvW. That is a total waste for both the WvW players and the compeltionists. As for the world I see no issue. You can still get 100% map while helping out your team.

I’m not sure how you can get 500 badges and not be close to having a 100% map. There is a fair amount of dead time where the battles are focused elsewhere and a few people are left to defend an area or map. You may not be able to knock out all 4 maps in 2hrs, but with the way the servers rotate, there should be no issue getting all points of interest in a few weeks.

2) You can easily earn 500 badges without completing the WvW map – or even coming close – ESPECIALLY in the Eternal Battlegrounds.

Let’s think this idea through. What you craft would always be worth 5% more than the value of the raw materials. That means no matter how high someone jacks the price up for raw materials, you are guaranteed to make 5% on top of that. This is encouraging people to pay as much as possible for raw materials so they can make an additional 5% on top of that.

Arena net was nice they added a dummy in the game that will buy any quantity of garbage to keep you from losing all the money you spent making something no one will buy. Crafting is a way for people to pay for leveling with a bonus that you can use the items you make, and some are actually desirable. If you pick your spots you can make money, but you can’t just blindly make stuff and expect to be able to profit from it.

Call me crazy but if you asked me what were prioritys to spend time on i would say fix the camera mechanic near walls, allow people to disable right click targeting, and get a decent in game LFG tool. I would have had that ironed out before the game went out of beta.

An 8 bit arcade game inside the game would not be on my list of priorities.

That is exactly the reason they need an ingame way to find a group. 3rd party sites and spoofs of 3rd party sites are great for people that want to install trojans. Unless anet is getting the advertising $ from the lfg site there is no logical reason they don’t have it as a top priority.

Here’s my biggest problem with the third party dungeon finder site and the dragon timer site: They’re third party.

ANet goes to great lengths to keep user login safe and keep the baddies out but they have two huge security holes in respect to these sites. Don’t come to me and tell me that I have to go to extraordinary lengths to protect myself but then when it comes to basic gameplay mechanics I’m forced to do exactly what ANet tells me not to do. That is wrong.

I realize the Dragon timer site isn’t necessarily needed but a decent in game LFG tool is.

20k soldiers marching is a parade. In real combat that would = a lot of dead people from one RPG. In real life you get punished for clumping it is called a cluster-feline (self censored). In gw2 AOE only hits 5 people so there realy is no disincentive for a traveling mosh pit. Removing the 5 person limit on AOE damage would force people to spread out more and would reduce the zerg as a smaller group of coordinated AOE could effectivly wipe out poorly spaced larger groups.

I have three issues with the solo play. Mid level maps are deserted, the “trash mobs” in dungeons drop trash, and poor difficulty scaling.

Trying to do world events solo is not fun. Doing them with random people is fun. They are relativly easy and are a nice casual way to play and try out different builds etc.

If there was some incentive for beating the trash mobs more people would explore the dungeon solo before they tried it with a group. IMO it produces beter group players if they have some knowlege of the monster skills and patterns before they group up. Right now there is little incentive to solo since unless you take advantage of some glitchy mechanic or have pr0 gear you probably aren’t going to be able to solo a chest fight.

Also, the game scaling for difficultly is either flash or trash. You can pretty much faceroll anything through the main plot line or world bosses with gear 10+ levels below you. It gradually gets more difficult as you progress but all in all it is pretty easy. Now try to do a level 35 dungeon on your level 35 toon with level 20 blue gear and your chance of survival is about as good as a gopher dropped in the middle of a live shooting range. It is like Anet’s normal game play is beating up kids at the school ground, then you go to a dungeon and you are the dude on Bully Beat Down that drew Andrei Arlovski.

Just to give the dead horse one more kick…

My intent was to show no red circles at all. Right now you see this big huge boss, and its attack is not breathing an epic cone shaped blast of fire. It is making red circles appear on the ground. Stepping out of red circles is a console game mechanic from 10+ years ago, and IMO looks out of place from the rest of the game. I doubt the game has an appropriate collision detection, and it may not be practical to implement in the near future but it would make the game look cooler.

I would equate turning off the red circles with turning off tracers on an FPS game. Some people would rage quit if that happened, but others see it as a crutch. Once again, I don’t think they had a decent collision mechanic to implement this, but it is still a good suggestion IMO.

I made a similar suggestion, but it was to add a section for request for services. The intent was if you wanted to do a dungeon, join a guild, help w/ a mission etc you could put up a transaction. Without a feedback system, they would have to keep the transactions at 0 cost.

Also, a black market trading zone would be cool. Direct transactions between players would be allowed. E.G. there would be a mechanic where both players saw what the other was offering and they both have the option to agree on it. Also, there wouldn’t be the draconianchat filter there normally is in /map chat. Even throw in some dark alleys and trash to make the place look seedy.

In RL you have to be paying attention to the person throwing the gernade to have any clue as to where it lands. Looking at the ground with your back turned to them does not give you any indication of where it is going to land.

Buffing a weapon to make it as strong as others you can pick from sounds like balancing to me. So I would say any balance related comment is in line w/ the OP. One of the strongest classes in the game does not need more buffs.

Fixing broken targeting (right click) and poor camera mechanics are not nearly as glamorous as creating new content. I would expect that if things are barely servicable they will stay as is. Their philosophy is time/money is better better spent distracting people from the flaws (super adventure box) than to spend the time to fix them. You aren’t going to get articles in any gaming magazines about adding a first person view to your game, but you do for adding a 8 bit music and graphics.

The OP’s spelling was bad, but they have a valid point. The red circles are a cop out. They should actually show the effects. If you didn’t see the person throwing the grenade sucks to be you. If you weren’t watching the boss barf out the green noxious goo you are now standing in sucks to be you. Right now you don’t have to pay attention you just look at your feet to see if there is a red circle.

Basically anything that does aoe has a disadvantage because you get a red circle before it hits you. You don’t see a bullseye over your toon when someone is shooting an arrow at you.

Why would anyone agree to that? With guild storage you would be giving up a large chunk of storage slots if you couldn’t “represent” your own guild for storage purposes.

Some people may never be able to log in when the event they want is up on their server. In my opinion people should be able to travel to other servers, but they need to stay for a period of time so we don’t just have 100 semi afk people ikittenone waiting at the dragon spawn and warp out the minute it leaves. In my opinion they need to do one of the following:
1) Make people actually do something to qualify for the chest prior to the event starting. Maybe complete 5+ events that day in the region and server they want to pop the chest in.
2) Greatly increase the cost of travel. Both to waypoints and to other servers.
3) Nerf the chest so it drops gear similar to what was dropped prior to the santa clause update.

Pets are worthless in high level fractals, and the massive red circles in other dungeons make them severly kitten compared to other classes. By the time rangers have added enough skills to make their pets stop being one hit wonders, they have no slots left for party support. I’m mad I leveled my ranger just because the black widow looked cool.

It would be nice to not have to use the pet. All other professions that have pets can choose to not use them. As for bots, pets armor dosen’t get damaged and they most likely are the highest dps autoattack class.

I read through their game updates and there wasn’t a single metion of any change dealing with the graphic engine. The only changes they have made are related to skill balancing, skinning, level/dungeon design and server related issues like culling. There are several well known issues since beta that haven’t been fixed with the graphics engine. This is one, no first person view is another, and glitchy camera mechanics near walls and on tall characters inside is another. These are the only reasons I can think of that could cause them to not address these issues.

1) They can’t fix it
2) They don’t know about it.
3) They don’t care / not a priority.

Number 2 can’t be the issue. 3 could be it, but all these issues have a negative impact on game play especially if you want to have a game with a competitive PvP environment.

The only logical explanation is they don’t have the ability to make changes to the game engine. It was like the game took a step back several years to a time when people couldn’t customize the user interface.

When guild wars 2 came out they wanted to be an MMO, but fix all the things that people didn’t like about them. Travel times, no incentive to play in lower level areas, world vs world combat that has some impact on the world, and people being forced into certain roles if they chose a specific character class. I’ll ignore the last one for now. The first two are currently causing a major amount of griefing and the third plays a role in it too.

There are physical limitations of how many people you can actually put in a map and make it playable. This is disguised in other MMOs because there are a select set of areas that interest your character at any given level and they make it so it takes a long time to go from one side of the map to the other. However in GW2 they threw both those natural limitations out the window. Now I can get good loot at a noob zone on my lvl 80 char, I can instantly travel there, and if certain events are happening i am guaranteed to make significantly more gold than I spent getting there. So when there are Santa Claus chests everyone in the server will go to loot them with their level 80 characters. This forces people to overflows, they don’t get their rare item for 10 seconds of auto attacking a boss, and mass griefing begins.

The intent was to have zones with event chains that were fun to do and had varying results. The problem is there are soo many zones only a small fraction are used. The events are not fun to do by yourself since they take forever to do solo and aren’t terribly rewarding. Since they have already proven they can track events completed in a region, why not add that to a prerequisite for getting a chance at a dragon chests for the day. The current chest mechanic clearly needs balancing. Having the entire server warp to events for 30sec to 1min of autoattacking for a chest and leaving will quickly bore people. They need a mechanic that spreads people out and encourages them to stay in the region. Personally, I would up the rewards for the chest, but make a daily/weekly/monthly set of prerequisites that must be completed in that region before you can get the reward.

IMO running around in circles laying traps is a lame game mechanic to forced to play. Also, the crazy stacks of frenzy make them dificult to outrun unless you have a ground targeting cripple skill, so you have to resort to exploiting their inability to follow you when you jump off the stairs to maintain separation from them untill their frenzy cools down.

There are only two problems.
—-1)Loot is grossly over scaled for the difficulty of the missions relative to the rest of the game.


2) The game engine can’t handle anywhere near an entire sever in one zone. I doubt it can handle much more than 200.

Problem 2 isn’t going to get fixed. The only way to fix the issue is to nerf the loot so not many people want to do them.

Every day there are a ton more threads opened. PS i will be laughing my kitten off when they ban guesting. Then the high population server people will really be QQing. They won’t be able to guest to a low population server, and they won’t be able to stay out of the overflow on their own server.

If you look closer it is lion guard williams. He was invincible when i played and was a frenzy stacker for them. If you didn’t kill them right off, they would build up to max frenzy with a 60s duration on it. When they are that juiced up they one hit kill any of the other guards.

I agree that mission was lame. Having an invincible NPC is only good for buffing up the abominations before they target you. I beat it by laying traps then running up the stairs and jumping off over and over. I didn’t have enough blind or evasion to kill them otherwise.

Has anyone ever though that you can guest a lower population server? You realize it works both ways. The rewards are high enough that i’m pretty sure if you are on at a peak time your own population will be creating an overflow. Please stop griefing you can’t join an event 30seconds before it ends and get a drop.

I’ve never heard of an agreement with a 3rd party developer where they make updates for free. I’m sure they would argue that the right click target was not an error and charge up the wazoo to fix it. Same with first person view “that was not in the spec”.

My theory is they outsourced the game engine. They have no one on staff that can fix the problem. Same reason the camera spazes out when you are near a wall, and there is no first person view.

If this was true it may not be an issue depending on the support contract that exists between ArenaNet and the 3rd party developer. Not having someone in the company that can maintain their product would be commercial suicide If it were also the case that no support contract existed!

Skipping In Dungeons And Other Improvements

Instead of forcing people to play a certain way, make the mobs attractive to kill. The trash mobs don’t drop jack and are a pain to kill. “Trash” mobs in end game content for GW1 dropped ecto/shards/gems. On average you would get as many rare materials of interest from playing the content as popping the chest at the end. I think making this change and nerfing the sata claus chests from the world events would bring more interest to the dungeons.

You can always guest at less populated servers for your events. Changing guesting won’t fix your problem. The problem is a game design issue. You can’t fit all the people in the server in the same zone. When they are giving out rares for 10s of work, everyone online with a brain will be at your zone. The only solution is to significantly nerf the rewards, or fix the technical issues that limit the players in the zone. Which do you think they will choose?

To me the mechanic here was awful. I did it with a thief. There were 2 abominations that I could not break free of with speed buff signent. I tried dieing and rezing the guards as close to simultaniously as possible, but they all got one shot killed. Except for my buddy Lion Guard Williams who was apparently invincible. This had the unfortunate side effect of giving the abominations 60 seconds of 15 stacks of frenzy to go with their beserk. Once you attacked them it was very difficut to break free before they KD’s you and curbstomped you into oblivion.

I beat it by equiping a speed signet, 2 traps and running up the stairs and jumping off over and over again untill they died from the traps. The only reason I could get enough separation for this when they were amped up on frenzy was because I was able to equip a trait for switftness on evade which combined with the signet gave me a big enough speed boost to make it up the stairs before I got smoked. Fun factor = 0.

Time to implement guesting restrictions.

1. Get a better computer or guest to a less populated server.
2. What server dosen’t have any trolls?
3. The only complaints I see are people who try to zone for the last few seconds of a boss and end up getting an overflow. I have never had an issue with this if you go to the zone before the event starts. If you zone at the last second you run the risk of missing out on the chest due to overflows.

I don’t think the guests should be punted if they helped get the event going. The guesting allows people in off time zones a better chance to participate in an event they want to. Something I hope Anet learned from the one time only event.

Lately, it has become a common trend for lesser servers to jump onto high population servers to do boss events. This has caused more harm than good.

List of issues:
1. Lag is unbearable.
2. “Trolls” come in to mess up the timers / events on purpose.
3. Some maps (during world events) reach their cap limits, and then the people from their OWN HOME SERVER, start to get thrown into overflow, while the guests happily stay there doing their thing.

Please, get rid of it or implement restrictions

Suggestions -> Pick one
a) Time limit (can’t guest for longer than 6 hours, resets weekly <- This is only for high population server guesting)
b) Capacity limit (If an overflow is created, guests will be the first ones to be teleported to it)
c) Loot limit (guests cannot loot world chests outside their own home server)
d) Technical limit (guests won’t be first priority when it comes to culling)

Chat delay, skill delay, low fps (the only thing on my end) really do get old after a while. I hope ANet is aware of the problem.

Yes I agree it is too easy to make money in the game. Clearly the best solution is to prevent people that actually play the content from making money too quickly. A buff and more one shot kill skills for the monsters in CoF1 is in order.

I would say something closer to the hall of monuments portal stone. You get one on creation of a new toon, and there is a place to go get another if you lose the origional.

I understand that, but I find it difficult to believe that you assumed you would get such a thing. Not a single item in the entire game is functional for multiple characters at the same time. What made you think the item would be usable by more than one character at a time?

I’m not sure how the insane amount of knockdown stun could be considered fun. Especially when it is combined with traps that kill you and prevent anyone from rezing you if you can’t move. Last I checked I can’t chain stablility, and how many stun breaks do you need? Poor mechanics like that encourage players to find exploits.
