This leaderboard is silly. It’s a measurement of who can spam the most games.
However, the leaderboard shouldn’t be about rewarding top players stacking themselves into one team to farm unorganized pugs or lesser teams.
If you’re a top player why are you dodging other top players by teaming with them?
Lol, no one is “dodging” anyone.. There are about 10 players that are top tier in NA, these 10 players make up the two best competitive teams in North America… These two teams beat every other team in the game.. These teams are not scared of fighting each other, in fact they welcome it. However it requires all 10 players to be on to play each other… Which unfortunately is quite rare.
So “super pugs” form where 3 players from team A and 2 players from team B join up since the rest of their team is on//
You guys exploit cele, once it gets nerfed, we’ll c.

Your team’s choices of comps is LOL and gimmicky. That has zip to do with amulets.

So, we can and most likely will change our comp to cele war, cele war, cele ele, cele engi and condi necro, NOW, which is more fun to watch? 4 cele team? or double power necro team?
It is the only logical solution if you think about it.
Please delete celestial, at this point every team needs 3-5 celestial amulet ele/engi/war, this is outrages and no one wants to be “forced” to play a particular class and style. Just take it OUT of spvp altogether and it will not negatively effect other parts of the games.

The real leaderboards make me cry.
I understand that this wasn’t a “balance patch” or “feature patch” but at this point all I want is balance. I don’t care AT ALL about new leader board systems, wintersday gifts, etc. All I want for winters day is BALANCE.
Here’s what it comes down to, at this point I just want to know when some type of balance might come so I can make a decision—
a. Quit a broken game
b. Roll cele ele
c. Roll cele engi
or IF a true balance patch comes through—
a. Keep playing and not jump off a cliff repeatedly in HOTM
b. keep working on a FUN CLASS eg. power necro
c. have someone other than abjured/absurd win EVERY tournament.
My question to everyone is, why play anything else? cele ele and cele engi fulfill every roll to a better extend then any other class so why have people in a team that don’t play it?
BlueBoy, did you make an ele then find that you are an AMAZING player by using something absurdly OP and are you extremely scared that if it gets nerfed you might actually have to have skill to be good?
Blueboy, you have no idea what you’re talking about, 1 person with cele can heal a group through anything, rotate anywhere, win any 1v1.
I noticed that this thread really didn’t go on too much about the fact that engineers ARE very overpowered due to the amulet as well. At this point in time, a VERY strong team comp could easily be comprised of 5 celestial amulets, you could have d/d ele d/d ele rifle engi, rifle engi, and war, all cele. You could even do a number of other combinations and be unstoppable, you don’t even need to worry about plus-ing into the correct matchups, because with celestial EVERY matchup is a good matchup.
Cele ele is great team support, great bunker, great damage, great condi, great CC, fantastic mobility, unstoppable 1v1, good 2v2 great midfight.
My necro that I have 3000hrs on will consistently lose 1v1 to both cele eles and cele engineers that have only played it for 20hrs.
What I honestly suggest is GET RID OF CELESTIAL AMULET, why? you may ask, let me show you.
Positives of suggestion:
The alternative, keep it but nerf mightstacking:
*wouldn’t effect the still overpowered cele engineer
*would take a long time to be approved by WvW dev teams
*would take a long time to be approved by living story teams
*cele eles would still have ultra mobility with ridiculous tanking strength
I know that many of you out there only started playing these classes, cele ele and cele engi and cele war, and have felt their effectiveness and hope that they will NOT be nerfed or taken out. However, at this point in the competitive scene, your team must be comprised of 3 or more individuals with celestial amulets to be even moderately successful. Since there are no counters it is whoever plays the cele builds the best that will be the best and hence, abjured and absurd will win every single week.
PLEASE REMOVE THIS BROKEN AMMY FROM PVP.
In NA? It’s called “hop in a custom server and scrim” If you want to have a challenge.
I cannot WAIT to see teams slowly kill each other using the attrition amulet known as celestial.
Everyone reading this post, close your eyes and imagine a streamed tournament where celestial was NOT allowed, now wouldn’t it be interesting to see a team other than abjured/absurd potentially win? It would also be pretty interesting to watch if people actually died occasionally.

I like the idea, I would be able to make a euro account and play there fo free and a lot more people would come to the pvp scene. As for the toxicity, whoever made that post has obviously never done high level pvp because everyone already hates each other.
@Gnat, Anet had made it clear, all you need to do to succeed, stomp everyone, win money and great is 1 thing. Celestial, so create a rifle engineer or d/d ele, slap on a celestial amulet and don’t look back.
With a mere 20 min of practice you will dominate the high level scene and get asked to join any group, hf, literally the best advice offered.
If they add a lord healthbar, they should give the lord twice the health but make it NOT regenerate to add MAWR intensity as the game goes on and people attack him.

Ok, this is Over Powered Necro, I main power necro in high level tournament play.
First, to the writer of the post, if you want to feel what it is like to play an extremely overpowered build/class that takes no skill and can decimate anything, like dhummfire necro when it was first introduced, I have a simple solution: TAKE CELE AMULET AND PUT IT ON AN ENGI OR A ELE, then practice for approximately 20 min, then sign up for Go4Cup and start making money.
At the moment I find condi necro to be nearly unviable, in this celestial meta you will need heavy, HEAVY conditions to cut someone down and with straight up fearmancer it’s just not a possibility.
Even if you go dhummfire and spite sig, with corrupt boon, you will still prob lose to an ele from random dodge spam, passive heals and LOS, in a midfight everything would get cleansed within seconds.
I myself play Power necro and it suffers from similar problems, to even get kills against these passive heal celestial teams you need incredible direct damage, so my team, Radioactive, typically runs 2 power necros. However, power necro is not the least bit viable unless you have a very, very solid rez war as you will die, very often.
So, in all honesty, anyone who is not playing celestial elementalist OR celestial engineer will find themselves at an extreme disadvantage no matter what, so either get on the Bandwagon and create that class, quit the game, or wait until the balance team gets off their kitten and fixes a problem that has been going on for 6 months!
If anyone wants to converse about suggestions that DEVS SHOULD READ, I hardly ever leave my computer, so I’d be happy to respond.
What I don’t understand is that I actually had better matchups before patch and never waited in a 40 min wait queue, granted I do believe that was a problem with the min potentials in the algorithm being set too low.

The one and only thing I have appreciated so far with this patch has been the ability to have some control over the map that is chosen, other than that, please put some of it back to what it was previously.
I’m starting to think that, at least for ranked queue, they should set the matchmaking system similar to what it was pre-patch, I have had 1 match that was actually close out of however many days the patch has been out multiplied by 12 matches a day.
In the past I would get around half of my games solid match-ups with good fights, but now it is worthless, came to the Go4 Cup completely unprepared, can’t test comps, people or ideas when you fight solo queues and newbies ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.

Annoying problem created by everyone being in hotm, whenever we come out of a queue, WE ARE ALL IN DIFFERENT INSTANCES, and it drops queue if we try and join each other.
1) If there is one thing that makes long queues worse it’s spending them doing nothing, please, and I mean PLEASE let us join custom servers, hot-joins, wander aimlessly, and not JUST stand there.
2) Seriously address suggestion 1
3) Put a check-mark OR SOMETHING next to the names of people in your party as they accept the queue so you can kitten at them if they don’t.
4)honestly, you MUST fix number 1 suggestion
5) As for queue times, our team, Radioactive, has decided that 5m is the max we feel is acceptable; however, queue times would feel smaller if we could hot-join, duel in customer servers etc. in the meantime.
Also, as a side note, considering we have had only 1 good match-up since the patch has gone through, we would LOVE to scrim any team that asks, so, please ask.

So you face someone good, while you get destroyed and blame it on your “teammates being nubs” you might actually learn something that you can use to be better in the future. Hell, right click and pm one of those players, say “If I come in your ts can you show me some things to be a better player?” I I know I’d help, and I’m not even that nice.

I’m in booms group and ya, this is getting soooooo boring, I’m not sure if it is possible to lose.
There is still an issue with mmr as we are 500-0ing teams nonstop, it is incredibly boring, this needs to be fixed.
I’m Over Powered Necro and play for Team Radioactive. Today, as well as the previous days, we not only won every single game, but 500-0’d 90% of the games we play, even 0 pointing all of the players themselves.
You may be thinking, “OMG, I Wish I could do that” but it is incredibly boring, it may sound weird but winning uncontestly is not actually fun at all. What makes this game fun is a good fight, which with this new matchmaking system seems to be impossible, I haven’t fought a single team yet with someone we recognize and it is making me start to consider other games as viable options to play.
Ever try dueling as a necromancer with no DS? Pretty much a loss before the start. Ever try an opener with necromancers that have zero DS? Can be very similar, My recommendation is that necromancers be given 30% by default to give them a chance.
As for people who think eles deserve some love too, they are OP enough and an ele can just as easily run staff ele and still give speed/might buffs at start.
I do not agree with staff marks taking time to activate, it is already easy enough to see the animation and dodge before the marks go down, or dodge marks that are down. I think this would be a significant nerf to condi necros.

Be wary of what he says considering last night, we were having a good time tpvp pugging, decided to pick up backpack. He went on his alt and promptly threw the game by going on a Mortor engi and then running to the enemy team and actually telling them what points we had open and asking the opposing team to take them. If anyone is looking for engineer advice remember there are a lot trolly options like five gauge, or ostrich, or reevzy.
I assume you are talking about Power Necro in this post. Now I can understand that from the perspective of someone who most likely loaded up and got rekt by someone “pressing 1” that it must be easy and skill less and for that specific reason wrote your post.
Now first of all I main power necro and play it in high level Tournament games. I rely heavily on fire and air procs to do damage, the only alternative would be strength runes and strength and battle sigils which would cripple most power necro builds. Thiefs, power ranges and basically most classes that utilize power and crit as a main stat really rely on these types of procs.
If you were to encounter a power class in a structured pvp match and were afraid of getting hit with fire and air procs I would suggest the in game mechanic that pretty much destroys it. Take the fact that these procs occur “on crit”, that means if you apply weakness or go into earth on ele and take the “no crit” trait or otherwise spec to make it hard for the enemy to crit you would be much better off than making baseless arguments on the forum.
The skills an attributes you are asking for always come in time. Realistically, the top tier players of this game did not sit around and ask for tutorials and guides, they played.
A list of things to improve yourself rapidly: (use this advice at you own caution)
Fake how good you are and get into a good group and learn from them.
TAKE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM.
ADMIT YOU WERE WRONG.
Play the conquest game like you would play chess, be one step ahead of the opponent by simply putting yourself in their shoes in there current situation and understanding what they will be doing next so then you can prepare for it.
A couple of nice tips, but not nearly as important as good rotations:
Work extremely hard at being good at 1-2 classes, and try and work on classes and specs that are future proof and will most likely stay in the meta.
“Multi Classers” are cool, but I really only invite them to tvp if truly no one else is on.
Also, ASK, go on the leaderboards, take down the names of the people in the top 25, walk through Hotm and wisp them, “Hey, you’re that REALLY GOOD Engineer, I play engineer too, do you have any tips for me? What’s your teamspeak info so I can ask in person?” Elitists LOVE this kind of attention and will simultaneously help you and brag to his friends that someone asked for his help.
Lastly, the reason why there is not a huge amount of content is because the top tier players are those who “play”, the people who sit around all day making content for the game should reach out to them and ask for interviews or videos that they can capture and nurture into something the community can truly appreciate.
All I’m going to say to this is that the PvP in this game is FUN. Other games, World of Warcraft, Wildstar, League don’t really have the fun and interactive gameplay that Guild Wars 2 offers.
I enjoy Guild Wars 2 PvP because you can always comeback without grinding new gear, if Tpvp gets boring there is Solo queue and WvW.
However, that is not to say there are some issues that the devs are hard at work trying to fix. A spectate mode is crucial to this game’s success, more than just conquest will bring more than one food group to a meal, and true GvG would bring bring meaning to the name “Guild Wars”.

If only you could see one of the non-streamed games of the WTS between us and Rough Bois (aka DDOS BOYS), Crysis got a triple rez with banner, it was amazing.
Without holy trinity aka healer and tank, downstate is viable because a group of 5 dps running around and killing each other has no sustain in a fight if they cannot get each other up once they have fallen. Likewise it makes it so both groups have to keep a large amount of damage up to keep people down, this creates a fantastic balance between sustain and damage.
Also, this is a core game mechanic, so do you really think this post was worth ANYONE’s time?
