I believe Mesmers have the best trait trees, each give the mesmer an entire new meaning, they can adapt to almost any situation. There are so many combinations (albeit certainly not all of them viable) that each can change completely the playstyle of said mesmer

A close second would be Guardian, though they dont get so much gameplay changes with each.

I would dare to say the worst trait trees go to elementalists, regardless of much you pick, most of the time you are forced into certain traits (arcana VIII Blasting Staff for staff wearers, at least 20 points arcana for any weapon, and 10 for BttH in Air), regardless of what you pick the gameplay changes little to nothing, and more often than not you pick the other tree for the stats.

Thoughts? Enlightenment on who has it better/worse?

hmm dont agree with the mesmer trait tree atm. yes it creates a whole different mesmer depending on what u choose, but atm it creates half viable builds and there are a lot of useless traits too. but yes i like the mesmer, because we get to be very different from other mesmers depending on traits.imo it need a lot of work still.

i’d love to see more builds for every class though. atm there is too much meta going on, because the traitlines are still very messy and only grant a few viable builds for each class.

granted, but remember, in PvE almost anything goes, also, remember that I said it doesnt necessarily need to be "viable. I had a hard time choosing what was the best build for me when it comes to shatterer. Only focusing on shattering clones and I had so many options available to me, that I just coudlnt choose one.

Given how we ar ein the condition meta I might change my build so it removes a condiotion on each shatter (thats 4 conditions if you are specced into self shatter), but instead I went for taking boons on shattering, which is also great for bunkers and such.

They have SOO many options, clones can either slow, remove cond, remove boons, apply confusion, etc etc etc, I feel like I can play a different mesmer everyday for an entire month and not get bored.

Cant say the same for most other classes.

Im fairly new to the class, I cant seem to find any. i want to cast ethereals (like Chaos Storm) and use a blast on it.

Also, do me have any healing field of AoE heals that are not based on pure luck?

personally i like staying at a distance, most bosses everywhere have these ’DODGE IN 0.001 SECOND OF DIE!" things, heck, even liadri had one, I had to resort to using scepter on my guardian which I absolutely loath .

EDIT: forgot, warrios have a trait that gives you 25% on melee weapons too……your move.

You mean, you dont use your elite for that? and the thousand ways of moving around with GS? What about banners, which also have boosts and movements……Have you ever bothered trying to get map completition with a mesmer? or moving around with mesmer in WvW? Yes, i know you have, but I can also bet you dont have 100% on it, as compared to moving with a ranger, thief, ele, necro. Guardian, warrios get to have almost 100% uptime movement speed on top of skills thgat move you certain distance, and more if you have a speed boost.. Notice the pattern? Mesmer is missing there in the list, I dont know about engis, dont play them nor ever seen them.

And have you ever thought about game balance? A class that would be fast, can go invis, create illusions..

ok, al you have done is describe skills, havent told me why it would be “OP”. First of all, in case you didnt know, there is a trait that allows you to go 10% faster per each clone/phant alive you have, clones and phantasm can ONLY be used in combat, therefore we ALREADY have that in-combat mobility, which personally I dont care about. I know you havent bothered to read anything because this has been mentioned 99999 times already. What we are complaining about is the lack of mobility OUTSIDE COMBAT

Also, dont give me the “oh invi and getting away” sheit, thieves get invi on smaller CD, have a signet and WILL get away from you 98% of the time. Also our “invisibility” has LONG CD, like, really long, and they take precious space, which unlike thieves, stealth does little to our advantage most of the time.

The portals aren’t useable in WvW and they’re expensive as hell. Nobody’s going to pay 3g to make a one-time use item unless it’s guaranteed to get them more in return than the initial investment for the portal. ArenaNet knows this and is waiting for people to find something worth said investment.

Compare to a guardian (the proclaimed slowest class). The guardian gets 8 seconds of swiftness every 15 seconds with the staff. That’s 7 seconds of normal movement and 8 seconds of swiftness (7*300+8*400=>5300 units / 15 seconds or an average speed of 353 units / second.

So even a guardian is faster than a mesmer.

Note: I was using only a weapon skill. However, blink gives 900 units of movement every 30 seconds, so an additional 30 u/s (provided you are willing to waste it on movement.) However, if we’re wasting utilities, the Guardian as retreat which provides 33% additional uptime of swiftness. So the Guardian will still win.

If you as a mesmer cannot outrun a guardian in combat you are seriously screwing up. I’m sorry but as a guardian myself I can outright say that any class that wants to can just leave combat with us. It is a source of major annoyance for us. Don’t go trivializing our problems with speed because you want to make your class seem slower. Mesmers and guardian are in the same boat when it comes to out of combat movement speed. but Guardians don’t have stealth, blinks, clones, and portals. Mesmers are currently one of the hardest classes to catch in combat because of this, even perm swift elementalists and engineers are hard pressed to keep up with a mesmer who wants to get away.

That is the reason you don’t have a perm 25% boost to movement speed. Compare apples to apples man. Elementalists cant disappear or create clones, they have to move faster. Basic stuff here.

I’m pretty sure thieves can escape combat better than any other class. They too have a 25% movement speed signet.

+1 pretty much this, and to top it off they are one of the highest rated professions in the game, if you didnt know then check the tournaments and high ranking matches…

and lack adequate defenses outside of stealth and mobility.

The problem with this thread is you’re not actually looking at movement speed in the context of a profession’s strengths and weaknesses compared to other professions. There was a reason, for example, why eles received a huge mobility nerf because people were building highly mobile bunkers.

Maybe you should take some time to try to analyse, objectively, why the mesmer lacks mobility. I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with portals.

dunno man, saying that thieves lack defense outside stealth is a bit of an overstatement, after all, they have the most acess to blinds in the game, guardians coming second. If you think blind is not a form of defense try rolling an ele vs a thief and tell me how that goes.

The reason eles got nerfed was uncalled for, sure they hit bunkers but they also effectively nerfed an already broken staff with some changes (not the mobility one ssince thats for dagger users, but the water nerf hit us bad). Sure eles mobility needed some nerfs, but not the ones that were given, because it is pretty stup… no intelligent to add a skill a double cooldown for not hitting a target, specially not 40 secons, imagine if any other skill in the game worked like that; Warriors cannot use their skills to get away unless they hit something, same for guardians, same for thieves….. and dont tell me all of them have a hard time scaping because nothing scapes better than a thief or a warrior if they really wanna get away.

So no, I did look into context, you are the one that is trying to justify it. There is absolutelly no reason to punish mesmers who want to run around , especially when the only argument agaisnt them is “mobility in comabt”, once again, let me repeat it and BOLD IT THIS TIME (i by no means meant for this to be read as a yel, simply trying to make it more visible)

We already have in combat mobility, we get 10% movement speed for each clones/phant alive so that is NOT an argument agaisnt a signet for 25% mov speed for purposes NOT related to combat

Should i make a post crying about unfairness of warrior lacking stealth, and clones, and i would like backstab too. Oh yea, deathshroud on my warr too, where is it? I also want to be able to use staff on my warrior, and i want everything every other class has.

Your comparing unique profession abilities to a boon that is widely available to everyone except mesmer. Not exactly an equivalent comparison.

Actually its not that widely available, just a handful of classes have a 25% signet to make up for a lack of sustainable Swiftness in most builds.

+1, pretty much the whole point of the thread.

Everyone got options on what to do if they want to move around fast, we, have only focus, which is not enough, because it doesnt stack the swiftness, 25 secs CD with only 13 of swiftness. Other classes can work around their build a litle bit, make small sacrifices and get all the mobility they want, we do not have that luxury no matter what we do. And no, 16 gold for some extra swiftness while sacrificing real runes is NOT enough and NOT fair!

ok, im sorry, i thought it was about PvP. As for dungeon then I dont know, my mesmer is still lvl 3x on PvE, but right now mesmer is my most solid choice in PvP.

For dungeons I can see how GS #2 can be kind of counterproductive, specially if there are trash mobs around. For #3 I believe it hits 5 targets, so it is not that bad, though the casting time sure is a bummer. #4 is amazingif you can pin down the enemy to a wall, #5 helps you do that, as for bosses, I always use sword/focus or pistol , barely ever I use staff except for when I want to play it cool with the chaos storm.

Can’t mesmers trait so they get speed boost per active clone? Every weapon set has clones available. Spam the skill and grab a speed boost. per clone, you should have quite a boost, no?

no, you cant cast clones out of combat, also you need a target for them, you get slowed in combat (by a lot) swiftnes in combat is almost as bad as normal movement speed without swiftness. And if you didnt know you cant cats clones out of combat then I recommend you play mesmers for a bit

So mesmers have 2 options and engineers have 2 options.

Mesmers get blink + focus. Engineers get a trait that only works with kits and they get Elixir B.

except that engis can just equip an utility and voila.

It is about the amounbt, it is about the effectivity.

Let me give you a good analogy:

You get paid twice a month, I get paid also twice a month. You get paid 1000 per each time, I get paid 1000000 each ime. We both get two payments, yet mine is incredibly better than yours.

I think you guys missed the point, in fact, I think you guys didnt even bother to read. This isnt about “mesmers are now useless since everyone can get a portal”, this about “mesmer were never allowed to have speed boosts because they would bring a unique mechanic to the game that would allow them to transport anyone, having a speed boost would only increase the strenght of this”

Now everyone who really wants to can bring said portal and a speed boost to back it up. I think it is time we move from that archaic way of thinking and give mesmers the uncalled for lack of movement speed for exploring without having tyo spend 15 gold in runes and having to occupy a weapons slot that most likely than not you will not like.

You already have dozens of ways to escape every single kitten fight whenever you want,lets ask for Warriors to be granted teleporting and portals and stealth aswell…because ehhh we need it !!!

Another guy who misses the point of the thread, and just for the records, warriors have even MORE ways of escaping fights, but lets not turn his thread into a warrior vs mesmer, who is best. This is about

The mesmer focus has a speed boost built into it too. How come mesmers never bring that up?

because , like it has been said a thousand times, that and blink are our ONLY option, even Guardian who is almost as limited has; shouts, TWO shouts, 2 weapons that allow him to move faster (GS and staff) and sevral “gimmicks” like sword #2 or that meditation skill with 1200 range, they can move around maps easily. Then you have professions with 100% uptime swiftness, eles get 10% for attuning to air in the Air 5 points trait, with signet of air (25% mov speed) they literally have 35% move speed (swiftness 100% uptime) . Thieves got 25, rangers got 25, necros got 25, warriors got 25, engis get perma swiftness, guardians get almsot perma swiftness (never had issues moving around)

Mesmers? spend nearly 16 gold on centaur runes, cut into armor build (no MF runes, no crit runes, that or spend another 16 just in runes to make another set), cut into weapon build; not everyone has focus as a weapon, some people like running GS sword/pistol.

Notice the pattern? Vayne, we all know you are a hardcore defendr of Anet, you will defend them even if suddenly they were to throw everyone’s account to the trash bin for no reason, but sometimes you gotta think that Anet commit errors, that sometimes they overlook things, I believe mesmer’s mobility has been neglected, we just need to bring attention to it.

And dont tell me that it is because we can kite, because all those classes also depend on kiting and we do that a triat that increases our mobility by 10% for each clone/phant alive.

I just want to move around and not feel like my grandma on walking sticks.

If you want to compare it to a Portal think about spending 5 gold whenever you want to move bit faster.

that analogy would be the equivalent of a mesmer using portal every time it is off cooldown, regardless of what he is doing or where he is, like having the skill on autocast, just simply not the same.

The equivalent analogy of what Im saying is; imagine if everyone had to pay 5 gold evertime they wanted to have more than one way of putting swiftness on them or using a skill that move them certain distance. THAT is the right analogy.

What rationale is this?

The portal has a huge cooldown to begin with, and only a certain distance, so using teleport isn’t going to speed up travel time vs a guy with 15% swiftness

If anything, the reason why mesmer has no speed is because of the clones and their ability to ‘kite’ enemies and move around

Well, every time someone brings the topic up it always get bashed with the portal issue. But now lets analize your point and how it is null. We actually have a trait that increases your movement speed by 10% with every clone alive. Therefore, in battle, we can get said mobility, rendering your argument, well, invalid.

Im talking about a 25% movement speed signet for moving around. In combat usefulness argument has been rendered invalid, portals is now also invalid. Whats the next thing, whats making us being the ONLY profession that has to suffer from turtle syndrome?!

Whats the excuse for not giving mesmers a much needed 25% movement speed increase signet utility option?

Im willing to sacrifice the 10% boon passive for said passive. At least make it usable only in PvE, or out of combat (and only getting on combat when YOU hit something, not when a random skritt throws something at you)

The “they can kite in combat” is not enough because we have 10% mov speed increase per clone/phant alive yet I dont see anyone complaining about it.

EDIT Guys, stop trying to rationalize this issue, this is an obvious overlook and Im hoping Anet is working on a solution, there is absolutely no excuse as to way we must remain the most ridiculously excruciatingly dragging slowest class in the game

Okittenep hearing about how Mesmer doesnt have damage on the GS, and I have to say; WHAT?! A shatterer mesmer build that Im running can burst down any golme and player in the mists so fast that it leaves my GS guardian wishing even maximaxing all possible damage outputs with several stacks on might and such.

Granted, it might not be completely AoE like Guardian and it might not bring utility, but it is definitely harder to scape a mesmer earing a GS than a guardian wearing GS, which in most cases people will just run away once your pull has been used.

I believe mesmer’s damage comes from the fact that I can stack 25 vulnerability in a couple of seconds, followed by 4 shatterers in a couple of seconds more, all that while removing around 8 boons, applying 8 stacks of confusions and applying 4 seconds of daze.

PvP wise Mesmers win. Now, as for dungeons, I dnt have my mesmer fully leveled but I do see people asking for at least one in some fractals (granted, guardians are asked more but thats becuase that awesome wall of reflections, which I would give anything to trade it with that (kinda) useless skill that absorbs one random projectile and shoots it back. I would be GOD LIKE. Also, I would love to have some 25% mov speed, maybe remove the 10% boon increase passive for it? Anet get to it! One or the other please (and we know wall of reflection wont happen)

Among many issues, one of the reasons I gave up on WvW is zergs. The other issues being having to walk too much (I play mesmer, Im sure you can feel my pain), having to pay repair (imagine if you had to pay repair every time you died in sPvP?!), broken stealth for thieves, and finally the lack of rewards as how I like playing WvW, which is simply running around in a small group capping stuff and defending.

As to exploring, I have one toon with 100% map, another with 5x% and another with 1x% and as much as I loved it everytime, Im not doing 100% map again unless my two gifts of exploration get used. Not only could I be doing better things to make some profit, but certain classes (COUGH Mesmers COUGH) have an incredible hard time moving around due to the lack of 25% mov speed signet or ways to speed things up that dont cost nearly 15 gold in runes (or more depending on TP’s mood)

Overall I found the champion reward and Dungeon reward a good step towards making the game for us casuals better.

I do however disagree with you and farming. I understand that some people just like to sit back and start click 111112111111 on mobs for 4 hours straight, but the thing is; if you make it profitable, then we will fall back into the same CoF issue we had; gold inflation, people having to farm to make profit, more gold inflation, back to the old farming spree wich the vast majority of players dont enjoy.

Most people dont realize this, but getting gold only make things worse, you are pumping out gold into the system, raising its value without actually adding any items which could sink that gold, ending up with precursors which are worth 600 gold, only attainable if you farm CoF a thousnd times, which creates a vicious cycle.

Right now we need o bring the price of gold down, diminush the value of items , let the TP normalize, make it so that everyone has an equal chance at getting said items without having to farm

Pumping gold into the system is not the answer, that only inflates the economy.

First, I don’t like GS legendary, as there are much nicer GS skins around …

If you cannot use a GS properly on a guardian, then this class is not for you. So, give whatever shiney GS you have to your mesmer.

Though I appreciate the answers, I would appreciate it even more if we had less of these answers. This isnt about me, this isnt about skill level (yes I can use GS on guardian thankyouverymuch) this about why YOU would put a greatsword on either profession.

I have been playing this game since release but even then I have a lot to learn (yes, including you too, even though you might think otherwise), so I want to know what other players who have had plenty of experience on that field can tell me.
I have seen both Guardians and Mesmers with Sunrise, I just want to know what makes it so desirable to put em on said class besides looks.

The question is very straightfoward, as Im getting closer to finishing my Sunrise Im starting to wonder who is more worthy of such weapon.

First I will say my issue; Mesmer dont have many skills to show off the nice weapon, no whirls, no motions, only thing they have is the GS throwing skill. But on the bright side they have got range and lots of damage

Whereas Guardian show off the weapons beautifully with just the autoattack but on the dark side I feel so [generally] endangered with that weapons in most scenarios like WvW.

So I want to ask GW2D which one do YOU see more worthy of such weapon (effectivity wise, given that im suddenly quite skilled with both professions) , for atleast 80-90% of the game; that includes ope world PvE, pug dungeons, organized dungeons, fractals, WvW roaming, zerging, etc,

RIght now Im having 3 big problems with mesmers;

  1. Movement speed; Runes of the centaur cut into my build and they are too expensive
  1. Condition cleanses; I feel like I dont have enough, this is from someone coming from Eles and guardian, necros cast 5-6 conditions every a couple of seconds and I cant do nothing but watch my beautiful princess die to them
  1. Tagging In PvE. By the time phantasm pop out the stuff are dead.

Please help, how could I solve this?!

I play for shinies, plain and simple. I do like the lore involved in events and such, but if it lacks rewards or does not help me on my way up to shinies, I will most likely than not leave it to the side and do it when I can, if at all.

I do the AP for the shiny shoulder pad (58xx AP atm) , once I get it, Im done with the AP rewards.

I did all these LS for the shinies and rewards, I didnt do Brahn nor the Charr bow lady since I didnt see any shinies worth going for. I did the southsun only for the backpack, once I got it I stopped.

I should be ashamed that I only play for rewards when this game has so many beautiful things, but sadly I dont, my train of thoughts are simple; if it does not help me get to Sunrise, or has shiny rewards (or is as challenging as Liadri, which 70% of the reason I did it over 150 times and spent 40 gold was for the awesome mini, otherwise wouldnt have done it) I wont do it, unless I got nothing else to do (and that will only happen after Sunrise and Bifrost)

I also know many people have a hard time admitting this, but in a game where cosmetics is all, sometimes lore isnt enough for those who have a hard time finding people to RP with.

I love the new weapons, specially Genesis which Im ust waiting til the price goes below 10 gold so I can buy it, IF i dont get it as a drop before that.

But my goodness, WHEN ARE WE GONNA GET GENESIS-STATUS STAVES?!

It pains me seeing the serious lack of cool staves, the only one with “worth” effects is bifrost, that other than the footsteps IT SHOULD NOT BE LEGENDARY, INSTEAD THE BASELINE

Anyways, once again we get great looking swords and greatsword, nothing new.

Love the new wepaons, please make Staves desirable, keep the GSs coming.

personally I would have preferred if there were only 2 main currencies;

Gold

Karma

We now have so many other currencies that karma is mostly used for legendaries and Orrian boxes for some gold back, because you cant even salvage the stuff you can buy with it.

Dungeon tokens could be acceptable, but my goodness, we now have so many currencies….. and still karma is used for nothing but that and buying food.

I, for once, would like to see some GOOD use (as in shinies!) to the 248 daily karma jugs, 500 drops of karma and so on I own…

I’ll be honest with you, I wanted to fill this thread with insults for who created this boss, and for who decided the achievement should now be impossibile for normal players to be completed, but I won’t break the rules.

So, just one thing, please remove the pulling orb on fase 2, so maybe some normal player as me can complete the achiement since now completing achievement is important for the rewards.

I made a pretty long thread myself about this boss.

I do agree the Orb needs to be toned down. But I think thats not the issue. I did this boss after a lot of tries and frustration cries, I can tell you that most peoplec an do it when I, playing a 100 hours guardian did it with nothing more than yellow weapons and random trinkets i owned.

Takes a lot of tries, patient mostly.

The real issues with it is; Camera angle and the invicible rings of doom which are pretty hard to make apart. On top of that the FPS drop form not having its own insatnce and getting affected by server lag when a boss is below or nearby you.

Difficulty wise it is not impossible, hard but not impossible. All I can say is, play it enough time (more than 100 tries for me) and you will memorize the pattern. Try to play around with the camera. Expect to spend a lot of money on it. I Spent over 40 gold, just want to achieve the boss, not the rewards. The pet is a good “show off” thing.

Yeah, the orb and the rings don’t kill me any more, but it is infuriating when I get randomly downed while the boss is at 30% HP or something. I quit precisely because the camera doesn’t even allow me to count the number of illusions spawned or killed or their locations when they don’t instagib-on-spawn.

30%?! BRO, DONT GIVE UP! I only managed to get her to anywhere below 50% on the last 5 tries (out of more than 160 tries…)

Shout Scepter.Torch/ Staff. Meat and Winter Vegetable Meat (30% endurance)

Staff for p1, scepter and focus p2, use torche 4 active, 5 when she is close. Auto atatck. Use shouts to convert cripple and weakness into swiftness and might.

“stand your ground” “retreat” “Save yourselves”, Renewed Focus. Time these. Aegis will heal you, shouts convert condi into swiftness, dodges heal you. SAve dodge only when you need them. TIme Renewed focus so you get to sue the active virtues, they provide quite the DPS and sustain needed.

It never randomly downs you.

Illusions spawn in a pattern I am yet to predict, without prior warning, and they down you when they touch you. Illusion spawning on you will down you instantly, no warning.

actually they also always spawn in the same pattern. Sadly though I only know the first 3 spawns, if I cant down her with every crystal that I can get then I die, as simple as that. Make sure to memorize it, remember the while the orb spawn IS random, the timing isnt. First orb is when you enter ring, second is in between 2nd and 3rd portal. Last one is on p2 , sometimes can have a 4th one if p2 takes too long.

sadly I used to think it was random too, but then to my [very sad realization and also salvation!] that it has a pattern, not any pattern, but the DARN SAME PATTERN EVERYTIME. No, literally, everything pops in the same place at always the same time )the only random thing are the orbs)

Memorize the pattern and you win. Also, pray you dont get a zerg below, if you see a boss pop below you, either change places or wait.

Granted, I still think the camera was a Witch and the red circles need to be seen better, but overall I can attest it is doable even by the worst of worst players (me, 140 hours with guardian, just recently hit 80, had mostly yellows and a couple exotics). Perseverance is the key. I never gave up, learned by mechanic memory and voila

Yeah first you curse ANET to the deepest hole, but then when you finally beat her, you realize how satisfying winning is.
Tip: Guardian retaliation build for the win.

I tried retaliation and didnt work for me, also tried some altruistic healing, didnt work either very well, did manage to survive it all but not enough damage. Also tried GS/Staff, would get her low, but not low enough. Then I went for shouts, scepter/torch and Staff

This is a Guide for people trying her out:

Why shouts (Honor 30) Well, I got the 20% shout reduction, the convert condi into boon and heal on aegis popped, VI, II, XI. As for Zeal, II for the extra damage on burn, IX and XII, scepter damage and power to condition.

The shouts are pretty much to convert the darn cripple into swiftness, pray it is the one converted, cuz shouts only convert one and she puts 2 conditions; crippled and weakness. “save yourselves” “stand your ground”, “retreat”. Save yourselves is pretty rounded up, gives you a bunch of needed boons, stand your ground has low CD and heals you for a good bit, try to use it after and when she leaps at you, retreat has the swiftness and also aegis, remember that when someone pops an aegis you get healed, also, you can block the 1 hit KO AoE. Remember that the whole idea of shouts is that you convert the conditions into boons, try to conserve energy for dodges.

5 points into Valor and Virtue. EVERYONE should ALWAYS have 5 into valor, the reason why I chose virtue next is; aegis will heal when it pops, can also save you.

Gameplay; staff to pop the orbs, save the swiftness for them. LEARN THE PATTERN, cant stress how important this is, the moment you realize his has literally a pattern, it repeats, ALWAYS the same pattern, memorize it and you win. The only random things are the orbs, watchout for them. Once she gets to p2, move in circles and switch to scepter. Use torch $ everytime it is available, go ahead for the active, not the passive burning. Use torch number 5 when she gets close. THis is the hardest part of the boss. Learn the cycle, if you see AoE fall somewhere, stand there after it falls, it never falls twice in a row. Move in constant circles, autoattacks at all times. Only use shouts when you have cripple or to heal if you really need it.

You elite invul will save you, the block heal will save you, aegis will save from AoE.

Time it, this is a DPS war once you pop p2.

Today, after 40 gold (1/4 of my total fortune, no kidding..) spent into regearing, tickets, repairs, food, retraiting. After more than 160 tries, 3 restless nights, 15 hours of play, countless curses on vent, countless curses on all kind of chats, having to deal with massive FPS drops eve at the lowest settings (normally I have 10-13 FPS, with zerg below I get 4- FPS), I have finally beaten Liadri.

Though my point about the camera and the darn invicible circles still remain(!!!! fix it for those who havent been able to do it), my 2 threads on the Quen Jubilee subforums with plenty of upvotes attest of this, I feel incredibly compelled to say;

THANK YOU

I havent had this much fun in a video game [despite the frustration which made the result the sweeter] since I got my first game console, a PS1 and tried the beat the first boss at Spyro.

THANK YOU AND A MILLION THANKS Best boss of my life.

P.S: FIX THE CAMERA AND THE CIRCLES, the 8 orbs is out of the question for me.

Well, depend for what kind of PvP you are refering to, if it is sPvP then thief and mesmer are in a good postion right now, seeing a lot of tournament plays and having some good (OP in thieves case) mechanics. As for eles in sPvP right now they are one trick pony with scepter dagger and they have only seen nerfs after nerfs after nerfs. even though they received some buffs on staff, the weapon is still as unviable as always. Now, as far as WvW is concerned, thieves are once again quite on the top of the food chain being the #1 roaming class, doesnt die, picks up stranders and all the squishies on the back. Mesmers do their thing, bring incredible team utility for organized and semi organized zergs. Eles staff have some use and that is to ravage walls on forts, other than that they tend to die too often to be on the front lines putting CC, though mist is probably the best downed skill in WvW.

As far as PvE is concerned though, everyone works in PvE. Dungeons is where mesmers and guardians and warriors shiny the best and are asked the most. Thieves dont have many stuff to stand out but they do certainly become handy in Arah, TA, FoTM where bypassing lot s of crap become a asset. Eles have relatively good boon sharing (a poor man guardian tbh0 and can bring some steady DPS.

Overall I would say Thief if you want more of an PvP dominance or Mesmer for both PvP and PvE

Ok, you dont consider 40 gold, more than 120 on a single boss, over 3 days of trials, around 7 hours of pure play, retraiting regearing solely for the purpose of beating this boss hardcore? Then geez, what else could it be?

Im sorry, but right now it is borderline impossible to do, has too many luck elements on top of the already punishing mechanics.

Remove luck away and it will be skill, which improves with time spent. Right now I can either die in the first phase than at 10% hp in 2phase. Nobody is that incoherent. Luckplays a much too big factor. P2 needs to be toned down, period.

I dont like being blunt about things. I like sleeping over things as to not post something I might regret later on. But Im afraid this requires a post and I have to let you know where you have failed and how you could have improved because as it is right now, some people managed to get it and I feel neither admiration nor awe about them and they would complain if you were to change it now.

I have spent over 40 gold in retraits, regearing, buying tickets, repairs, food, 2 classes, ele and guardian since those are my only lvl 80s, over 120 tries.

Before I go on,let me tell you where you failed and how you made a potentially great boss into a total mess.

1 hit KO mechanic: In and by itself it is not a big deal, given proper counterplay and cooldown. P1 phase is beautifully designed. Patterns are easy to follow, kamikazes are slow. Overall well done. Then come the problem. The orbs. people with ranged attacks cant do much about it, they appear as “obstructed” even though there is absolutely nothing in between. These add an element of luck, luck that it will either pull you to safety or (most often than not) your doom. Phase 2 it gets incredibly convoluted, too convoluted, 1 KO mechanics are all over the place, you have little to no room to run to, crippled your dodge dont take you very far, the AoE covers effectively 75% of the map. This offers very little counterplay for classes which cant simply put a couple of clones and run around. If you need to be facing her to deal damage any damage then you have to either choose to run and hit a couple of times or die to kamikazes or AoE. Which brings me to my next point;

Time Limit is usually tied to lazy design: Plain and simple. It diminishes the your options; gear, traits, weapons, playstyle. Surely being a bunker and outlasting her wouldnt be fun, but as it is right now you have to give up damage for some tankines/sustain. When you do that you run out of TIME. A simple fix would be increase the time, whih brings me to my next point;

Why is this not instanced and personal?! Time limit was (hopefully) introduced to prevent people from stalling rooms, but why isnt this instanced like the drinking contest? And if you are going to make it public, at least PLEASE move it to another rom, not everyone runs Nvidia999999 or whatever number it is right now, when you have a zerg below or nearby you the FPS drops are insane. WHich bring sme to the last point;

Camera a nd red circles, FIX IT: The camera is the thing killing me 80%of the time, plain and simple. You cant see more than the back of your head, this makes the already hard to see red circles even harder to see, same for anything approaching you. For the love of God, Allah, Mathematics whatever you workship please make the walls disappear when you are inside (for you only). Also make the circles a little ( A LOT MORE) visible, cant count how many times I cant really tell if Im on the circles or outside of them, that if, I see them.

Overall I think this boss has the potential to be a great fight if something is tuned down a bit, I believe taking away the random fact about orbs and making p2 AoE less often and cover less.

You made GREAT encounters, such as the lady with the book and the quaggan, please bring this kind of design more often, it shows some work, it shows that there was thought put into mechanics and counterplay. The last boss feels convoluted and that just just threw a bunch of stuff together to make it impossible for the average john.

Get this right, 1 hit KO mechanics are not fun when they have less than 3 second CD.

Hi the boss can be done.first rule never use aoe if you aoe you will probably cant finish it you need to dodge when the boss shakes or the spiders will respawn and if you melee it will be lot more faster

hi, we got wiped, better restart the dungeon.

better yet, get a guardian and hope his wall of reflection lasts 28 seconds or has a 8 seconds CD

My ele friend did this by going full condition dmg, condition duration and went earth scepter/dagger.

He kept making her bleeding to death.
But I wouldnt change my expensive sigils/runes for one encounter.

You, sir, have given me a brilliant idea, brb, will post results, cant believe I didnt think of this. Still doesnt fix the camera issues but if I can at least kill her before I get dropped down then I will be happy
