With all the changes to traits over the last 2+ years the default builds are now obviously obsolete, and many traits are left blank now due to the changes.
I suggest the PvP Staff hold a contest for PvP forum members to suggest builds to replace the old defaults with the suggestions either voted on by PvP forum members or selected by PvP Staff.

Loot in this game is craptastic. In order to have any real “rewards” you have to have fast turnover with the crap. Thus any means to rapidly get through the crap to get a few decent rewards is gonna lead to the behavior experienced.
The best thing that can be done for this game is to improve loot across the board.

I play games like this for the rpg element, not to get from start to finish and think that I’ve won.
While I realize you didn’t intend it to be, this is fairly insulting in that it insinuates that anyone that sticks to one character wants to get from start to finish and feel they won.
Perhaps they don’t want to spend the extreme amount of time gearing them all out in their own soulbound exotics, trying not to have to bankswap out loads of ascended gear if they don’t want to spend extreme amounts of time gearing them all up in ascended. Maybe I should mention each character that has multiple sets of different stat armor, some of mine have 3-4 different stat sets. Do I even mention Legendaries? I could go on and on about why alts in GW2 for the “usual” gamer is a PITA.
I use the term usual gamer to indiciate those without very specific, niche goals like “RP”.

There have been a significant amount of changes. That being said, nothing about the overall game has changed. As with most MMOs the direction is exactly the same and while you may like this change or that, it is still the same exact experience.
If you left because you thought you had been there, done that, when you return it will still have been done.

I agree, and would like same to apply to all objects in pvp. My power characters wreck these things so much faster and it doesn’t seem to be balanced.

The problem with allowing macros that don’t give a “competitive” game play advantage is it will quickly spread to the competitive areas as the player becomes comfortable with getting away with multi-click type macros.
If Anet doesn’t want multi-click “competitive” macros, they should not allow any multi-click macros, period.

Recently, I believe last patch, server lag on NA has become somewhat ridiculous. I am getting skill lag in HOELBRAK. HOELBRAK, the “town”, skill lag….never happend in the previous >2 years.
This is a recent issue, yet I see no official post about it, whether it is a known issue that is some sort of new client/server bug.

GvG is a mode, the fact Anet has refused to put Guild Wars in their Guild Wars game for 2 years has left you newcomers to GvG to push it where it doesn’t belong. Facesmashing mini-zergs aren’t GvG, there needs to be captures and the like involved to promote real competition.

My opinion: Overall, since launch, the balance changes have actually felt like balance. Initially there will be boos, hisses and cheers, but over the longhaul they have panned out. The Warrior adrenaline change has, in my opinion, been the starkest and roughest.
That said the game is still the same game and if you stopped playing because the game itself became unappealing, that will likely not have changed. It may have a bit of newness initially upon returning, but that quickly fades.

Keep seeing this topic pop up at least weekly, always in a new thread. It is definetly a discussion that needs to be had, WvW has probably the worst rewards in this game.
That said, I still stand by adding WvW Tracks (just like PvP Tracks) to WvW progression that does NOT include EotM, EotM is already it’s own animal and is overally abundant with reward payout to time spent ratio.

GvG should be it’s own game mode, like PvP. Look up GW1 GvG.
We don’t need anything added to WvW, it has enough issues with being stale and dead, other than new maps, new challenges.
And then I go back and notice I missed this:
GvG needs its own system much like sPvP. In fact I would base the GvG system on the old GW1 arena combat with 10v10, 15v15, etc modes. Add in rankings and cross region play… GW2 would have a big winner on their hands IMO.

Make a class. Play PvP. Don’t like the class? Delete, make another class. Play PvP.

You only need 1 character slot to PvP any and all classes.
There are 10 grandmasters, 20 utility skills and multiple weapon sets PER class. There are a crap ton of runes, sigils and amulets to choose from. How in the hell does he know if he’s really tried out the class or just randomly put together a 3/0/4/3/4 thief with a cavalier amulet because it seemed like a good idea and got the wrong idea of the class? Saying “Figure it out” to a new player in this game, especially for PvP, is a recipe for disaster.

I made the point, he doesn’t need to “Choose ONE”, he can play them all. He can learn to play them just like everyone else, he can experiment, use the crappy default builds that haven’t been changed since release, spectate and watch others, google builds, check youtube videos, etc.
I am not even sure what else you expect him to do other than the methods I just listed. He has 5 slots, the only thing you lose out on by not sticking with a toon is the XIII traits, cause you don’t want to unlock them via gold. All the other traits are FREE for a newly created character that enters PvP.
Now perhaps once you have calmed down you can approach the discussion with insight into why you are raging.

Apologies if it’s already been brought up but any chance we can get tombs of knowledge from wvw vendors? I’m not into pvp(and I’m terrible at it) but onto my 8th alt and don’t feel like I need to learn to play…..again.

That said, WvW needs WvW tracks just like PvP. In such a case you can earn tomes of knowledge, possibly, just like in PvP.

Not all content is for all folks. I really do not like the jumpy, glitzy, hurly content, such as Dry Top. Thus, I do not spend time in Dry Top.
If we were to discuss a move in the direction of some maps being open world PvP, and you don’t like that, don’t go there. However why reinvent modes that already exist in the game and could use some sprucing up and changes, like WvW? Why bother with open world PvP? The mode is there, it is just stale and dead. Making an open world PvP map that never sees updates or changes will stale and die just the same.
However, that being said, it would be megaserver competition and not just your server or server vs server (unless they implemented team combat, but we have that in PvP).

There’s not enough people left to transfer to lower tiers and make a difference. Or stack on one.
They just need to close the bottom 15 servers in NA. Nine servers is all we need really. And just pick a new server when you log in.
That would be completely chaotic. People returning to the game that hadn’t communicated with friends/guild would be forced, at log on, to randomly choose a server and hope some of their friends will be there for WvW?

No, not only does the xp bar cause the least issue with screenestate, I actually do check it from time to time on my 80s for various levelling effects like wvw rank ups, skill gains for daily/monthly, etc.

They know WvW is stale and dead. They can only lure PvEers to WvW with promises of brief rewards like Hero skins. EotM thrives due to PvE content with an overly abundant WvW reward payout.
It would take to much energy for them to get off their collective backsides and infuse excitement and newness into WvW, they would have to create things, and with the terrible rewards WvW gives, no one would care to WvW just for new maps.

Lowering the prices based on server placement would be good, but giving free transfer to other servers would just promote people to stack on the said server for a easy win like happened to Henge of Denravi on Season 2.
This would only occur if the suggested “free transfer” was always open.
Anet could do something like this between seasons, and remove the free or discounted transfers a few weeks before a season.

So the animations were temporarily removed to be worked on and reincorporated in a way that allowed them to perform normally in the game but to stop (or maybe change) during cinematics. But getting to a place where the animations could be configured on a more fine-grained basis took more time than anticipated.
So the fact it was officially stated some time ago the animation missing was a “bug” is now officially countered with the fact it was removed.
Was kinda hard to sell that an entire frame set of animations going missing was due to a “bug”.

The new armor skins are butt-ugly in my opinion HOWEVER…
People have been complaining about getting new skins on new stat armor added to the game and here it is…….and still not satisfied.

Just gonna say this one time. If you don’t have a quick setup Skyhammer build then you need to stop QQing. The stage is Skyhammer, learn to play it. almost every class can knock people off, fear them down, pull them down etc. Stability also stops this, u can los the knock offs and pull downs. Please get a Skyhammer build and start playing the map the way it should be played. A couple examples are, Guardian take gs or hammer, Thief can pull them down stealth, Mesmers can change to focus for the stage, engies can do alot, rangers can take a knock back. Its not hard to quickly change something to make you better at the stage. Play to your strengths, learn from your deaths and PLEASE get a Skyhammer build.
TL;DR : I like my cheese. Get some wine and enjoy it with me.

Capes would be game changing. Potent end game content, a lot of time should be dedicated to this.
Or…….the time is used wisely to expand the game, it’s modes, fix bugs especially the ones that have been in game since launch. Yeah, I am thinking that is much better than flappy tablecloths flowing off someone’s back.

1. The rewards netted in EotM completely outshines anything in WvW (due to the rapid pace at which you get them via PvEing in this “WvW” map).
- I say BOOST WvW rewards. It is sorely needed.
2. WvW maps are dead after the first 24 hour karma train PvEers join in for. On the T1 I play on we do good to get 2 hours of coverage a day and that is usually only on one map. That is incredibly sad.
To the above I don’t see it reviving WvW. The environment/mode is stale, it has been exactly the same for 2 years, I don’t see anything being changed for another year or longer (going by the rate anything gets updated in this game).
Anyways lets try to boost and not nerf.

They just need to take the rewards from the reward tracks and put them on vendors in WvW that can be purchased with badges of honor.
EotM zerg runners would praise you! Yes, the overabundence of tokens from EotM needs a home!
WvW players don’t get the idea. The tokens gained are so anemic in comparison to EotM.

They aren’t gonna improve the current rewards in WvW as it will likely just over inflate the already overinflatted EotM rewards. WvW needs it’s own reward system along side what is currently in game.

WvW is not PvP. The very point that ascended gear, perplexity runes, boosts, food buffs, etc., exist in WvW should tell you up front Anet does not consider WvW to be a valid competitive format.
Now can someone confirm the speed boost is working in WvW? I thought speed boosts were specifically stated as to not work in WvW or PvP.

S/D is fun to play IMO …. D/D is of course a viable option too.
I find S/D more to my liking as well, but it and D/D do not offer the reset of D/P. You can not use dagger 5 when blind, so you lose that almost guaranteed stealth of heartseeker through a blind/smoke field.
For a new player I would say D/P until you are comfortable with the other options, especially if roaming solo. S/D is great unless you run up against another thief running D/P, that will almost always be in their favor.

If you never got to any sort of end game then yes, it would be worth a revisit.
Overall the game has not changed, but many systems have been altered or retooled. Just like that other MMO though, the changes do not overall effect how the game plays or “feels”, once you have been there and done that, it’s the same thing.
For you it would be worth playing again most probably. Until Raids are implemented, and depending on how they are implemented, I don’t see much changing with this game’s game play, for those who have been there and done that.
If you want to level up, gain loot, in a zergfest ala the old kessex hills type champ train, your best bet is EotM.
