Astrid Strongheart, Norn Ranger.
“I wish juvenile wolves were bigger”
I wouldn’t play as a quaggan, probably. However, they have a rich and very interesting culture that I would love to know more about. A lot of people are mistaken by the way they speak and end up believing that they are dumb and childish. They have Olympic games, a structured religion and political organization. They also used to have a royal family, but it was killed by kraits along with their goddess if my memory serves me right.
Quaggans are as civilized and smart as most of the playable races. I would like to see more of them.
Make them ascended instead of rare and maybe I would pay for a set like that, if it looked really good.
But you can’t sneeze without getting exp in this game. I wouldn’t call that grinding at all.
thats not important. its still a grind, because its something that prevents you from doing something. you can sneeze and gain exp for you, but that may not be fun to sneeze for hours on end just to unlock the fun elements of the game, which is exploration, and build making.
Grinding is, by defintion, doing the same thing over and over. There are so many things you can do to level that it simply does not fit the definition of grinding. IF you want to grind, you can, but it is not necessary to grind to level.
That’s wrong. If you have leveled 8 level 80s (like me), speak to me again.
I leveled 7 level 80s. I guess it is not enough =/
I guess I need one more to start grinding, then. Is that so?
I´d also like to add a thing about events, it´s very likely it was mentioned but: please, disable or edit existing events where they don´t make sense where the LS is. It´s really funny. There is this big tower swarming with krait and NC, but there is this guy that goes finding lost heirlooms. Or centaurs are just going their buisness, totally ignoring it.
Or, when there is Scarlet invasion, there is Scarlet events and other, completely illogical events happening at the same place. And worst thing with Scarlet invasions- other mobs don´t attack Scarlet minions and Scarlet minions don´t attack normal mobs. It makes world not living, but static. Maybe when Scarlet is happening, disable other events to spawn at least or something? It makes no senseIn addition to disabling events, it’s a small thing but could the yellow mobs run away from these creatures? It’s odd to see something like a horde of twisted creatures and deer and moas calming walking thru them. Particularly in the middle of a fight with a zerg of people. The yellow mobs should be fleeing the area, not admiring the scenery. I’m not one to worry much about immersion but this looks unnatural.
I couldn’t agree more.
If friendly npcs could also temporarily move away from the affected areas, that would be great. I mean, look at Moogooloo. The quaggans shouldn’t be there. They could have temporarily moved to the camp where Kasmeer, Jory and the other npcs are at the moment. Maybe a text box could have been added to reflect the change (“Foo! Moogooloo is no good for quaggans anymore!”). The heart could still be there and active, no problem, we can complete it by killing toxic krait. The problem is, the quaggan village of Moogooloo is now trapped between the land and the tower, full of toxins and with no escape by water. It simply makes no sense for the quaggans to stay there.
My main, a norn ranger.
I wouldn’t survive, though. I need my alts and I love them.
RPG as in role playing game, there is no “group zerg” or “killing spree” in there.
You forgot the MMO part.
A lot of people playing the same game online at the same time? OF COURSE some people will want to play in big groups. Like when you are in a club and most people are dancing together, closer to the stage or DJ or whatever, even though they might not even know each other. Some smaller groups form, some people stay alone the whole night, but most of the people in there is dancing together in a mob.
You can’t put a lot of people in the same place doing something really fun and then tell them they shouldn’t stay together.
and you can play it as you feel it is meant to be played . some may feel its meant to be played in groups such as a zerg it all comes down to the opinion of the person , If people find if fun to zerg let them zerg .
This.
The game is a Massive Multiplayer Online RPG.
The way it is meant to be player is up to each one individually, but it makes sense for people to play with other people in massive groups. It is fine if you hate it, but a lot of people love it.
Nobody has the right to say what is fun or how people should play the game. I find it incredibly rude to do so. And it goes both ways: Players with the zerg should stop whining about people killing the champs out of order, and solo players should stop whining about zergs. Do what you want as long as it is not against the rules, let people know what you are doing (so they won’t waste time and money waypointing) and block the whiners.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
I think that they are together. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were not, though. To be fair, I never gave it a lot of thoght. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jory a lot (Kasmeer, not so much), I think she is a great character, but I really don’t care about her love life. I’m just happy she is around again and I hope that she doesn’t die. After good ol’ Tibs, I’m always afraid that my favourite characters will end up being killed.
Just chiming in to say evolving seasons/weather would make me explode with joy. And also that, while the two concepts intertwine in terms of implementation, it is important to distinguish somewhat between the living ~world~ and the living ~story~ as has been done here.
I would love to see snow in Divinity’s Reach during the winter and not so much snow and more green paths in Hoelbreak during spring and summer.
It would be a lot of work, though, but if it could be implemented at least to the major cities that would be awesome.
Indeed =/
But Piken is EU. I have no idea of how the roleplay is around there, but I suppose they must have open world RP events, too.
I don’t understand why we can transfer between OU and NA but not guest.
Also, if you don’t mind leveling up again and don’t have a lot of pricey stuff soulbound to your characters, you can put your stuff in the bank, delete your characters and transfer for free. Your names will be reserved for a while (24 hours? I’m not sure), so you can create them again right after changing servers.
^Because the train is made of people?
I mean, bots are not punished for making profit, they are punished for using an illegal software to play for them.
My edit was one minute too late…
I refuse the idea of an official RP server because it is a troll bait. Play any game that have official RP servers and you will see.
Besides, I like TC too much. Simple as that.
The moment you accept that people like different things and that your rights are not any better than other people’s rights, you will learn to ignore things that annoy you (specially something that can literally be turned off like this).
Until then, I will leave you the very definition of “flooding”: The act of sending a lot of text in a small time frame, whether accidentally or in the hope of annoying or lagging people.
A roleplay is a conversation nonetheless. It is not accidental and it is not in the hope of annoying or lagging people. It is a conversation just like any other. Do you get mad when there are lots of people talking to each other on /map on DR or LA? That is a bit worse, since the whole map will see it. Oh, wait, you can turn it off too!
Oh hell yes! – Plus, for someone who doesn’t use English as a main language, you do a remarkably good job Gabby.
Smiles sweetly, and bows to Gabby, to show respect
(Oh! did I just do some RP, how naughty of me)You can’t escape RP, and I for one enjoy it. There are many people who like to RP too, and I may just hop over to this RP server and guest there when I get bored of the grind.
There are ways to make it so you cannot see the RP, just make a new chat box tab and use that for party talk only, and you can ignore the RP in main chat that way. Personally, I welcome ALL RP players, and I am glad to see I am not the only person who enjoys a good RP session. Can I come to TC as a guest and RP with you all?
Thank you very much! Of course you can! Unless something went wrong, [RPcd]’s open world RP will probably start in a few hours. They took a lvl 2 to Arah once on a big roleplaying zerg (I was there!), so everyone is welcome.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
It is pretty simple:
They are not actively trying to disrupt your game. They are just playing the way they want to play using the emotes the way it was intended. (Big news: the main use for the custom emotes is for roleplay.)
You would be actively trying to disrupt their game if you did that, though, which is considered griefing.
They ARE behaving. You are the one that is complaining for nothing and refusing to accept the solutions. Also, calling them “idiots” don’t make your argument any more reliable. You are just sounding like a whining brat right now.
Edit: I forgot about something important. I remember that a dev stated that they wouldn’t label TC as “official RP server” or create a official RP server because that would attract trolls like a sugar cube attracts ants. It was ages ago, though.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
It is not spam. They are talking to each other just like you are talking to your group/guild mates, and it is their right to do so. I don’t like to use the /e command because I almost never roleplay in English and I admit that I find it absurd that the emotes have a wider range than /say, but that’s not their fault. That’s what /e was made for, after all, so just turn it off on your chat options.
Because of the lack of good looking town clothes and the impossibility to use the few good ones in battle, I end up putting outfits together with armor pieces. All good for my light armor users, but not so much for everyone else.
Before anyone say anything, this is the internet. I shouldn’t have to explain that “good looking” is subjective and that’s only my opinion, but there, I said it, just because I know that people will jump on me if I don’t.
Also, if hats wouldn’t make me bald, specially the witch hat, that would be great.
It is Light Armor, … you want female mages to wear heavy plate armor ?
To be honest, I want my female mesmer to wear a long dress or a robe.
My sylvari elementalist wears TA armor, but I really wanted a long skirt for my human mesmer that was not made of foliage, open on the front or with pants underneath. I’m good with the tops. Most of them are pretty and could make nice dresses with the right skirt (that does not exist at the moment, imo). For now, I’m wearing cultural tier 2, but I really hate the pants.
PS.: I have no problem with skimpy armor. It just doesn’t fit my characters, so I avoid it. I used skimpy armor on my silvari for a while, before getting the TA set, because I love the bioluminescence so much.

lol
I approve of this. You little people think you can mess with the spirits? You will be sorry!
Give the roleplayers an own server so we don’t have to read this whole senseless spamming everywhere we go.
“AAAAHHH TOO MUCH IMMERSION”? Please.Tarnished Coast is our own server. If you are either on Tarnished Coast or Piken Square and are complaining about RP, you shouldn’t play on one of the RP servers to begin with.
“Oh but it is the unofficial RP server”.
It doesn’t matter. Devs recognize us as the RP server and sometimes even roleplay with us. I’m sure it must be the same on Piken Square. It is official enough, so if people that don’t care about RP could just get over it that would be great. Turn off emotes from your chat and half the RP is gone. Block the rest of the people that you see roleplaying, if that bothers you so much.
@The OP: You can find RP on Tarnished Coast pretty much everywhere. Open RP events happen almost everyday. I know of at least one guild that hosts a 12-hour long RP event (which is a pilgrimage to Arah that happens every Wednesday, starting at Metrica Province and endind at Arah, getting every dungeon WP).
Edit: Oh yeah, forgot about the name of the guild. Chains of Duty Role Play Guild [RPcd]. No, I am not promoting my own guild, for I am not part of [RPcd]. I just like to roleplay with them when I have time, because they are nice people and don’t mind that my first language is not English.

Accpording to one twitter comment the tower interior will not be an instance but there will be small instances within.
Sounds a bit like the Queens Jubilee together with the Queens Gauntlet
Awesome. This makes sense, which makes me happy. Scarlet is a major threat, it would make no sense if just a handfull of adventurers to get in to go after her (that’s what bothered me about the other dungeons). Storming the tower and then splitting in many groups to explore it, wreck it and look for clues makes sense.
I can’t wait!
Major threat? more like, annoying brat.
“storming the tower and then splitting-” lol nope, braindead zerg incoming. mash dat 1-key. also, grindy achievements.
finally, “content”.Love,
Ayson
It is a major threat in the story, yes. That’s how the characters see her, so that’s what she is. What she is to the players do not matter.
No my dear, there will be instanced areas inside of the tower. We will storm the tower and then groups will enter that instanced areas, if the explanation given on the post I originally quoted is correct.
Please, read before complaining
someone posted this on the GW2 reddit page – worth posting here. Its not good when a trailer can be poked fun at this much.
I was expecting Guile Theme.
GW2’s community, I AM DISAPPOINT.
its hard trying to find all those past quotes from ante now, since they were prerelease.
start here (this is what I found on google, som other heard the same statement)

http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1056741-What-PvE-endgame-content-should-be-expected
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/938738-guild-wars-2/64084855?page=4dont know what they all said in those links, just what came up from google so its somewhere on those pages.
“‘Endgame’ starts as soon you make your character, all the fun will be when you level, and not only at level 80.
In other games, the leveling is just a long and boring tutorial, where as the highest level is where the ‘endgame’ starts. In Guild Wars, the leveling is the game itself, you don’t need to go through all the stuff to reach ‘endgame’ the ‘endgame’ and the fun will start as soon you make your character."
http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1056741-What-PvE-endgame-content-should-be-expected
Is that what you meant? Because it doesn’t mean “everything can be done as soon as you create your character”. It means that there is fun content for every level. I guess ANet can’t hold themselves responsible for how you interpreted it. To be fair, “Endgame starts at level 1/as soon as you start your character” is open to interpretations, but what the game in fact is since it was released makes it clearer.
It was in fact marketed as such. I dont feel like searching for it on google. but Anet did say Endgame starts at level 1. They also said the game wouldnt have grind.
http://gdcvault.com/play/1013691/Designing-Guild-Wars-2-Dynamic
I don’t remember reading anything like that. Are you sure you are not referring to the statement that “everything is Endgame”? Because if that’s the statement you are looking for, that was about level downscaling, which makes low level content not so trivial to high level characters (unlike other MMOs, high level characters can’t go one-shooting bosses on lower level areas because they are downscaled).
About the grind, you are right that they did say that there would be no grinding, and they really couldn’t keep up with that statement (some of the LS achievements are really grindy). But, as I said before, grinding means doing the same thing over and over again. Since there are many ways to level on this game, leveling is only grinding if you want it to be. For example, there is a “legend” in my server about a guy that leveled to 80 only by ressing people, and that’s grinding (and probably just a myth).
It was the main attraction of a festival. It will come back next year, like every other festival. It is like Wintersday, Halloween or Dragon Bash.
I don’t really care, it wouldn’t affect me either way. Elitists won’t take my main with them to dungeons already because she is a Ranger, so they wouldn’t even bother inspecting her gear anyway. Also, my Warrior is already full zerker because I was afraid she would end up being kicked from parties if the inspect option was ever added, and she is the one I do speedruns with.
Still, asking people is still better, and it is even better if the people that were asked about their gear would simply tell the truth or, if they are afraid of elitism, turn around and look for another group. I mean, you wouldn’t want to play with elitists anyway, right?
i already kick some based on achievement points, inspect would be more accurate to measure preparedness
Out of sheer curiosity, how many achievement points a person must have to be in your party?

I am not a fan of this kind of music, so I just muted the video and went back to my smooth jazz.
Maybe it is for people with a different musical taste.

Just the price of the game, really. I get everything I want from the gem store with gold (though it is starting to get way too expansive…).
I think it is because you shouldn’t get glory from activities (even though it is still pvp).
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Glory-rank-points-from-activities-bug/first#post3140669
If anything, I believe the harder zones should be more worthwhile. If you’re only getting blues and greens to salvage for luck in both zones, why NOT go to the easier one? I find that Orr is hardly enjoyable, or very rewarding.
Do I like the champ farm in Queens? No.
Will I get angry at people who do it? No.
Well, Frostgorge is WAY more profitable than Queensdale at least. All the champion bags on Frostgorge are exotic, unlike the ones on Queensdale, so we have that. I suppose it is the same with Orr, but I can’t say for sure. I avoid Orr like a plague.
The problem is that people think that they can dictate how the other players play their game (and BOTH sides do that, farmers and people that troll the train).
There is a guy that purposely disrupts the train every night on TC’s Queensdale and then he rubs his kills on the faces of the farmers. Then, the farmers call him all sorts of things.
One side is a troll, the other side is an angry, rude mob. Too much for the “nice server”.
Alright, now to the reason why I think nerfing won’t help.
The champion farming was nerfed a couple of times already. Nothing changed.
Queensdale is a starter area. What happens if these changes are made and then a party of new players try to kill a champion on a lower populated server? That wouldn’t be fun. At all. I believe that’s the reason why Shadow Behemoth is still that joke of a World Boss, btw.
I’m only talking about Queensdale because that’s where I do my dailies, then I go back to WvW, go find some roleplay or go farm on Frostgorge Sound, where I never had this kind of problem (actually, the map chat is even too quiet there, which is odd since there are so may people farming there all the time). Therefore, I can’t really say anything negative about the Frostgorge Sound’s train and I never had problems with trolls there.
I love to farm after a day of work/college/taking care all the pets that my little sister won’t stop bringing home even though she can’t really take care of all of them. I love to run around with a zerg, I find that relaxing and fun (that’s why I love WvW too, I guess). If they nerfed it so badly that no one would do it anymore, I would be a sad pony :c
Some people simply don’t want all their character to be DPS focused. Having six out of seven of my characters wearing zerker only, I can relate to that, even though I love my condition necro (don’t worry, I won’t invade your pretty zerker party with her). It is simply something that is needed right now, even though I would prefer to play with conditions with my Ranger, too, and to give some Healing Power to my Guardian.
My best friend is struggling with that because he wants to play a more supporting role, but it is not really viable right now.
But really, the only problem I have is with the people that are full zerker and then complain that some new boss is “gimmicky” and use “cheap mechanics” because it kills them with an unavoidable one hit on their stupidly low HP (because you are supposed to block or to resist the attack). It is stupid to limit the mechanics of a new boss just to avoid this kind of whining, IMO, and I hope ANet never does that. I don’t care if almost all of my characters also suffer when that happens, that’s why my nearly immortal conditionmancer is for ;P
I don’t think it is about nerfing zerker, but about fixing everything else for PvE (specially conditions). Oh, and separating PvE balance from PvP balance.
Someone probably mentioned already, but I really think that the Living Story should happen after the Personal Story. Most parts of the Personal Story are instanced anyway, and I think that a message at the beginning of every PS instance saying something like “this happened in the past” would be enough to just move on.
I am bothered by the fact that a player that is far enough in the Personal Story is Trahearne’s Commander and personal friend, but the Marshal didn’t say a thing to the Commander about everything that has been happening. Even when the Aetherblades stole the Pact’s ships, we didn’t heard a word of him.
Also, the fact that you guys are trying not to cause inconsistencies with the Personal Story will end up causing inconsistencies anyway. Orr can’t be healed because it would confuse new players? But if Orr is never cleansed and healed it means that everything that we did in the Personal Story, including Trahearne’s wyld hunt, was good for nothing.
Unlike others, I don’t mind Scarlet, I don’t mind the pace, I don’t mind the fact that most of has been temporary, I don’t even care if my favourite character to date (Canach) never shows his face again (but it would be nice if he did), I just desperately want the story to make sense and the world to evolve, and I hate the fact that big changes can not be done as long as you insist that “the LS shouldn’t contradicts the PS, it doesn’t matter on which part of the PS you are”. It already did! The Pact is formed! One should have at least have gotten to Claw Island for that to make sense, right? So if the Living Story could just move on, that would be great.
I want to get rid of the Foefire. I want the peace treaty between charr and human to be signed. I want to build a new Ascalon by expanding Ebonhawke. I want to rebuild Owl’s Lodge, for her teaching will live on. And, most of all, I really, really want to help cleansing and rebuilding Orr. Except for the Owl’s Lodge, everything else would contradict some part of the Personal Story, and it saddens me to think that this kind of change probably won’t happen because of that.
I actually kinda like it. I think it gives a nice feel to the mobs and the battle. For me it feels like these mobs are special in a way, a mob close to a player. Not that it fights as a player or anything, just that with the Finish Them thing it makes it feel as if they’re special.
I couldn’t agree more.
Now, to me, toxic courtiers are special. I mean, they are important, they are not just going to drop dead. They are trying to survive too, and while killing you is still their priority, they don’t look so inclined to die for it because they are holding on to their lives and helping each other to get back on their feet. They want to live, and they want their allies to live, too! It makes me feel like they are not as disposable as the Aetherblades, for example.
While I do believe that the default speed is WAY too slow, I really appreciate the fact that my thief is faster than most of my other characters (except for my ranger and my elementalist). Actually, I think that warriors are too fast for a heavy class. I like the idea of Tarukmakto better than making every profession running at the same speed.
“And when everyone’s super…
…No one will be”
I love it. It makes me feel like the characters are actually trying and that they are people (if that makes any sense to anybody else). I mean, they are holding on to their lives and relying on their allies instead of simply dropping dead. I think it makes sense for sentient races and that at least the foes that are of one of the five playable races should do it.
I see how it is bad for people that just want to farm them, though.
I hope the next Living World is our final confrontation with Scarlet. The Pact seems to be helping The Great and Gorgeous Mesmer Collective. Does that mean we will see Trahearne as well?
I kinda miss him…
hides from angry mob
But seriously, why wouldn’t he at least talk about everything that is happening to his best friend and commander? Send me a letter or something, if he is not showing up at all.
A Secondborn was throwing Karka at people and got arrested for that? Not his problem.
Some pirates plus Inquest stole some of his ships? He doesn’t care.
The Lionguard kept one of the ships instead of giving it back to the Pact? Pff… Whatever.
An undead dragon, something that he is kind of an expert on, evolved? Like he gives a flying feather.
It makes no sense, and I hate when stuff makes no sense. It rustles my jimmies.
^But not with the Krait and absolutely not under Scarlet’s command, which was my point. You know, because two alliances that are working for the same person wouldn’t attack each other. That was my sarcastic explanation for the fact that centaurs and bandits almost never attack the Toxic Alliance (I believe they will only attack them if an attack accidentally hits them when the target was actually a player).
Centaurs and bandits are also working for Scarlet.
Don’t you know? Every evil faction is. It is just another alliance. “The Hoof Bumpers”. Just wait and see.
Smelly warrior, smelly warrior,
What have you been killing?
Smelly warrior, smelly warrior,
It kinda is your fault.
;P
Yes please.
The way it is right now is not alt friendly. I HATE having to pick one character to play WvW because I don’t have enough time to level all of my alts (their WvW rank, I mean).
Sometimes I really feel like playing WvW with one of my alts, but my main is the one that has some of the WvW abilities unlocked. Therefore, because I want to be useful to my server, I use my main character. My main character gets even more WvW exp and the gap between my main and my alts grows larger. I hate that.
-snip-
The Bloody Prince can simply be known as that because maybe he carried out many of the executions that his father sentenced to the people of the lands.
-snip-
That makes sense. Or maybe he is just known as “bloody” because he was killed in a terrible, cruel and very messy way.
Anyway, I hope that we will get an explanation for his title other than “it sounds scary”.
I don’t really care for the skins, but I really wanted Foostivoo the Merry for Christmas ~.~
Oh well, we can’t have everything.
^Since ghosts do not age in GW2 (Serena is still a kid, for example), Edrick must be a son from an earlier marriage.
I wonder if Edrick was murdered by his own father. I wouldn’t be surprised.
I think this might be a troll thread.
But it is just a wild guess.
Anyway, OP, you should believe what people are telling you. They are telling the truth. GW2 is not like most MMOs.
Really awesome indeed.
Maybe because you posted like 4 topics or so with the same suggestion?
It reminds me of the Phantoms mask in Phantom of the Opera.
A bit, maybe. I wonder if it looks good with Celestial dye.
Woo! Another mask for my mesmer’s collection! <3
