:( Tybalt would have wanted us to fight back…and save the apples…and our home
I don’t think so. He would have wanted us to retreat before it is to late and to save as many people as we could, or die trying. Same for Sieran and Forgal.
A) Good riddance.
It is not that I dislike LA, I love the city and I would rather see another city going down. However, I welcome changes that might conflict with the PS because it means that the story is moving forward

Well, Scarlet’s ships were stolen from the pact.
And that the characters of the LS have connections with the Destiny’s Edge.
It is a good thing that they are moving on. Yes, people will enter the step of the personal story and they will see LA before Scarlet’s attack. No, that’s not a bad thing. That’s a good way to move forward without having to re-do the PS. That means that we can solve things that the PS left unsolved through the LS, like the charr getting rid of the ghosts or the peace treaty being signed.
Burning down LA means that ANet is finally making the story go forward. They are not afraid of causing conflicts with the PS anymore. They are not afraid of actually changing the world. New players will have to deal with it. A simple warning, like “You are witnessing past events”, will suffice.
You mean, besides Canach?
I would save the moas. ALL OF THEM. Also, that quaggan that is in love with that other quaggan but never gets to tell her (and all the other quaggans, too).
^She can stand, and she can even walk, just not for long periods of time. And it is getting worse.
^The OP is talking about the hideout that is in Lion’s Arch.
It think that it is possible, but unless she blows up a hole in the mountain, finds the secret door at the tavern or enter the sewers, she won’t find it. I don’t think that there are any reasons for her to do any of these things on purpose, unless she knows that the hideout exists and is specifically looking for it (or for survivors that might be hiding in the sewers).

I think that if this update was going to bring the Tengu, ANet would be announcing that all over the internet. A new playable race is a big thing (even if some ESO fans won’t admit it). I think we will get in an awkward situation where everybody is trying to escape from Scarlet’s army and the Tengu won’t let refugees into their city, leaving them to die in Lion’s Arch.
Are you trying to call dibs on a theory that has been around since even before we found out that the “snake-nosed, silver-tongued person of the city” was a Sylvari?
I haven’t been playing the WvW aspect of this last update. Can anyone fill me in on this disability?
Taimi has a degenerative disease. Her legs are too weak and this condition can spread to the rest of her body as she gets old, according to her.
She is a great character, really interesting and also adorable.
They’d have to make historical instances for the personal story, though. A lot of mid-level content revolves around Lion’s Arch.
…but doing so means they’d be free to do a lot more with the living story.
Indeed. More important than destroying a city, this is a sign that they are (finally) moving forward with the story and are not afraid of messing with the Personal Story anymore. That means that important characters of the Personal Story can die, cities can be build (please please please expand Ebonhawke), Orr can be cured, the peace treaty between Charr and Humans can be signed, the Charr can get rid of the ghosts, and so on!
This is great for the game, and as the rabid fan that I am, I couldn’t be happier.

It’ll be a new Searing. First Ascalon, now Lion’s Arch! =P
ANet likes to nuke the places where players like to meet.
Next stop, Divinity’s Reach!

Canach is moving to the Vigil Keep? Oh thank Dwayna. I was really worried about him.
Thanks Xukavi for the link and Delvoire for the summary.

I want this.
I want to see the world changing, and I don’t care if the changes are made by Scarlet, Abaddon or Lord Faren.
This patch is going to be so full of win!
I have huge expectations.
Well, the other thing is that most people didn’t like Trahaerne, so why bring him back?
Because it makes sense and it would add credibility to the story.
To be fair, Trahearne’s wyld hunt was to cleanse Orr. He did that, after studying it for 25 years. He deserves a bit of a break, yeah?
While I do think that the guy deserves a break, he is the Marshal of the Pact. He has a job to do. I mean, if for some reason they can’t put him back on the story (voice acting, maybe), he could at least send some letters to the players. I mean, I am the commander of the Pact, one of his best friends, his most valuable ally according to him, and he never writes :c
^The Tengu are trying to get on good terms with the other races. They paid an asuran krewe to build an asura portal to their city, but they were scammed it seems. It didn’t help to build any confidence between them and the races outside of the great wall, did it?
Largos, but since pretty much everyone hates underwater combat, I don’t think it is going to happen.
I like underwater combat, but maybe it is because my main is a ranger.
Also, Kodans. Their culture is really interesting.
I hope so. It makes absolutely no sense for Trahearne not to get involved.
- Scarlet stole his ships. One of the ships was then given to Kiel.
- A Secondborn attacked people with Karka and then was locked up.
- An undead dragon raised from the deeps, more powerful than ever.
Come on, Trahearne! You have one job!
I can see everyone trying to escape, and then reaching the gates to the Dominion.
Refugees: “Please, open the gate! She is going to kill us all!”
Tengu guards: “NONE SHALL PASS!”
Won’t somebody please think of the moa racers?!
And will that poor human finally find an outhouse?
To be 100% honest here, I just want Canach to be safe. If we can’t save him during the attack, well, then everybody else can just drop dead for all that I care.
I have to guest to TC at some point. I’ve always been interested in the RP side of this and might throw my hat into that ring on occasion.
We are going to welcome you with open arms ^^
I am really excited. I am worried about Canach, though. I hope that he survives.
This is going to be awesome. I love to see stories having a real, lasting impact on the game. If only the Personal Story also had this kind of impact… Well, it doesn’t matter! This makes me happy!
I just hope that he is not killed during the attack. He is, by far, my favourite LS character.
I feel they did Canach a big disservice in the Southsun arch, completely destroying the mystery as the reveal was parallel with the assault, as if we were to read the first and last chapters of a book, no doubt the worst LS segment. However, it would be completely pointless to introduce him and then cast him aside, so I feel it would benefit development to bring him back, otherwise, why was he featured in the first place?
I couldn’t agree more. I find it funny how the one update that I really disliked actually featured my favourite character.
Don’t forget how stupid the final fight was.
I agree that they must have something planned for Canach. Otherwise, they could have just killed him. It doesn’t really make sense for Kiel not to kill him, if you think about what happened. I mean, the guy is dangerous and escaped prison before, it would be wise to kill him instead of arresting him again. Since he was not killed, I believe that we will see him again.
I’m not saying it is impossible, but I think that an asura is too small to restrain Jory like E did.

“I stood slowly, and as I reached my full height, a body came up gently behind me. Arms wrapped so intimately around me that my fight or flight instincts never kicked in. Then, a knife appeared at my throat.”
They didn’t compare the Living Story to A Song of Ice and Fire. They said that they want to give with the Living Story the same kind of feel that A Song of Ice and Fire gives to the readers (wanting to speculate). They never said that they accomplished that or that they think that there is any similarity between the two stories.
Note the difference:
“I can cook. Gordon Ramsay can also cook” (No comparison between the abilities)
“I cook just like/better than Gordon Ramsay!” (Arrogance)
You people nowadays are finding any excuse to open an angry thread.

^Faren is not a character of the Living Story, he is a character of the human Personal Story. Not much can be done with him without messing up the personal story. Same for Trahearne.
Especially Braham. I surely wouldn’t want to tell Eir that I let her son get killed, possibly making her depression get even worse.
to be fair dying this way would be the ultimate honour for a Norn surely? especially with so many telling the story.
It surely would. However, Eir is his mother, so I’m sure she would mourn anyway. She would be proud of having such a honorable, heroic son, but seeing how Eir is, she would probably also blame herself for not being there to save his life or to die with him.
If Kas dies, that will make me really sad. However, it would be worse if they killed Braham, Rox or Canach, for me. Especially Braham. I surely wouldn’t want to tell Eir that I let her son get killed, possibly making her depression get even worse. I know they are not close, but Eir is trying to get closer to him and I believe that she does love him. She is his mother, after all.
I think the worst part would be Jory’s reaction. It would break my heart.
About Canach joining the group, not many things would make me happier than seeing it happen. If Kiel had to let Canach go, that would be awesome
Why do the races have to be chosen from the playable 5? Why can’t a main npc character be a Largos, a Kodan or a Tengu?
I believe it is, right now, to make the players feel affinity for the character.
But it would be cool to delve deeper into the lore of the Largos. I love that neon butterflies of the sea.
Do you also feel that you’re burning money if, for example, you’re not using your internet, tv, or netflix subscription 24/7?
No, because I don’t have an alternative. That’s how internet and television works around here, I have to pay, it doesn’t matter which company I choose (and I don’t have netflix). The alternative would be not to have TV or internet at all. With games, there are plenty of ones that does not have subscriptions, so it DOES matter which one I choose and the alternative is to play another game, not to not play games at all. Besides, there is always someone in my home using the TV or the internet.
That was not a good comparison.
Yet another reason I am kitten glad to be a Canadian.
However if they do ever decide to pull this kitten on us, there are plenty of single player games available. Never played WoW because they charged a sub.
Same here (I mean, I’m not Canadian, but I’m not American either).
I played Warcraft, Warcraft II and Warcraft III, was excited for WoW, didn’t play because I don’t play sub-based MMOs. The same will happen with TESO (huge fan of TES, not going to play TESO because of the sub). If GW2 suddenly becomes sub-based, I will quit. I really doubt it will happen, though.
I have a complete hatred for sub-based games. It is not because of the money I would have to put on them (I would gladly spend much more on regular expansions, for example), but that feeling that I have to play the game all the time, otherwise I’m burning money.
I don’t think it is going to happen.
RIP Tonn.
Also I hope it’s a cute female with new awesome armor.
And I hope that said armor is eventually available for us. I know my asura wouldn’t mind
If it is male, I hope that he is funny and crazy for explosives, like Tonn. I really liked Tonn.
It was said that we never saw said asura before. It is a new character, so it can’t be Shodd :/
There are not many asura npcs that I like, and some of the ones that I do are already dead. I really hope that this new character is interesting, bold, funny and not as annoying as most of the asura npcs. I love Braham, Kas, Jory and Rox, and I have high hopes for this new asura that will be introduced.
I’m not as excited as I was for other updates, but let’s wait and see.
I don’t care much for the wurm, but I want to know what the hell is holding that giant metal puppet up. I mean, what the… Is that a ship? I’m not saying it is aliens, but it is aliens.
Sounds like it could possibly be dragon related then! O.O
Nah everybody hopes its a dragon. I’m rooting for her in becoming our ally and joining that new group forming up that has Rox and Braham in it. They still need a sylvari
Greetings, citizen. Can you spare a moment to talk about Canach?
He would be a good sylvari to join the group.
Regarding credit stealing, I’m with Tobias here. I don’t care for what a bunch of nameless npcs think.
If they think that Trahearne saved them, good for them. They know how an army works (was it Napoleon that won so many battles, or his commanders?).
All I care about is for what the important npcs think of me. Trahearne is forever grateful and lets you know all the time that he wouldn’t have gotten anything done if it wasn’t for you. I don’t need nameless npcs knowing who I am and what I did if the Marshal of the Pact knows and praises me for that. It’s not quite what I’m saying. The NPCs know you’re responsible. They do respect you, even though they follow Traeherne, you are recognized as important to things getting done. More than a few times in the last chapter, the NPCs will say things like what’s linked in the image below.
They know your push, your support of the forces on the front, is what allows the Marshall’s planning and orders to succeed. That is the glory which Traeherne does not get.
Now, Kiel? She’s been around for over a year (real time) and one of the repeated things is she sees you coming and goes “oh, I am glad you’re around to help”. She trusts in you to be able to get things done even if you’re not Lionguard.
I’m relatively certain when (not if) Scarlet is finally taken down it’ll be followed with Braham and Rox saying how much they are glad they had a chance to be with you in the process.
I got it, I was agreeing with you and adding my own imput :P
As I said, I am happy named npcs (the ones that are important) know who I am. If “Pact Soldier” or some other random, nameless npc does not, I couldn’t care less. Their opinion is irrelevant. The npcs that matter are glad I was there, and that is enough ^^
Why do you care?
I know I don’t. Sometimes people talk to me like if I was a guy, and I only correct them if my gender is somehow relevant for the conversation (and it usually is not, of course).
It shouldn’t matter if you are male or female. I don’t get why so many women have this need to tell everybody on the internet that they are female.
Regarding credit stealing, I’m with Tobias here. I don’t care for what a bunch of nameless npcs think.

You must put the same kind of rune on multiple pieces of armor, not on the same piece of armor.
@Donari Why not have the guild tag be used instead of G1, G2, G3, etc? To change which guild you’re posting in you could type /guild guild-tag or /g guild-tag.
The problem is that guilds can have the same tag.
Eh? But Destiny’s Edge usually have one from every race…
Right now, it’s 2 humans, 1 norn, and 1 charr… We need an asura, and sylvari.
I’m still hoping that Canach will end up being part of the group. The snarky comments would be priceless.
As for the asura, well, maybe some new asura is introduced next year.
And remember that the Destiny’s Edge used to have two asuras, so it is not exactly “one from every race” ^^
Yeah, and they mentioned E, too.
I thought E mas just for the “Mystery – Mr. E” pun, and that ANet had dropped that part of the plot. I am surprised and happy they didn’t ^^
Kasmeer is not really smart. She is a powerful mesmer, but still a dimwit. She says plenty of dumb stuff and she wouldn’t get by without Jory. It is part of her personality, being stupid and kinda childish.
It is understandable that she wouldn’t know anything about the Sylvari.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I love her :P
I think she and Jory are a perfect match. If they were both smart and cunning, they wouldn’t be so cool together. Not every character has to know what they are talking about, heh…
Edit 2: Also, maybe she is not dumb, just too sheltered? Being a noble and all. Still, she is a good character.
(edited by Gabby.3205)
I disagree. I think the multi-guild system is really useful. A person can have a WvW oriented guild, another one to kill Tequatl with, another one that is only for commendations, a small one for that group of old friends and you still have room for one more. I think it is good in the sense that you don’t have to leave your small guild just to join a bigger one that is capable of finishing content that your small guild can’t do.
To be honest, the only thing that bothers me is that we can’t see the chats of all the guilds at the same time. I think that representing a guild should only means that that guild is getting your influence.
As I said already, I’m not against multiple guilds (in fact, I’m member of two guilds), but I think we should have the option to show all the guild chats at once (and assign different colours for each guild).
^It is quite different.
I know I can’t do that with my leg.
And how about…
The 12 Days of Wintersday
On the twelfth day of Wintersday, GW2t gave to me
12 Bells a-ringing
11 Princesses screaming
10 Champions dying
9 Risen rising
8 Classes arguing
7 Crafters crafting
6 Minis following
5 Races dancing
4 Commanders sleeping
3 Servers fighting
2 Nations missing
And an evil, cra-a-zy tree!
This year was great. I found myself rooting for Braham, Kas, Jory and Rox, screaming at my monitor when Faren fell while trying to save the Queen (for a second there, I thought you had killed Faren! I felt my heart sink) and defending Trahearne and Canach both in the game and in the forums. These characters really grew on me.
By far, my favourite update was the Bazaar of the Four Winds. I can’t wait for it to be back next year! (It will come back, right? Right?!)
2014 will be so awesome!
Oh dear, I have 4 human females and never noticed that before… Now it is going to bother me forever.
I hope it gets fixed soon.
