I’m excited! I have huge hopes for 2014. I want to see the Bazaar again, and the last 2 worlds of the SAB, and the next LS!
I hope that the next LS will change more stuff on the world. I want to see the peace treaty finally signed! Ebonhawke needs that.

Wondering about first person mode

Gabby.3205

We need first person view, and we need it as soon as possible. The Oculus Rift is coming out next year, and I’m sure a lot of people will want to use it to play GW2. However, this game does not support the Oculus Rift right now, and having no first person view just makes me wonder if it ever will.
(sure, the Oculus Rift can work on third person view, I guess, but it is not the same)

It makes sense for them to make the game compatible with the Steam OS because it is a OS specially designed for games. It is simply obvious that many gamers will use Steam OS (me included). It might not be suitable for the casual crowd, but it is one of the best things in the history of gaming for, well, gamers.

I read a developer article that mentioned a problem with adding new armor: people who’ve slaved to acquire a set of ascended armor may feel that their achievements are invalidated by a new tier of armor coming out. That’s understandable, but I hope it doesn’t mean that no new in-game armors will be made.

It seems that they were talking about tiers, not skins. And I surely hope no more tiers of armor or weapons are ever added again, but we can never have enough skins IMO.

The asura can’t just murder the Inquest. The Inquest is not only the biggest krewe, but is also part of the Arcane Council.

Also, you can’t just exterminate the Nightmare Court. Not all the members of the Nightmare Court are mindless killers. It is not black and white, and the White Stag story line makes it clear.

The rest of the stuff you pointed out should be changed, but ANet does not want to mess with the personal story. Which is a shame. I would like to see LS seasons that went like that:

The charr and the humans sign the peace treaty → Together, they get rid of the foefire → meanwhile, the legions aid Ebonhawke on their fight against the Renegades → After securing Ebonhawke and the rest of the Ascalon, they go after the Flame Legion → Meanwhile, Ebonhawke is expanding, forming what their citizens like to call “New Ascalon”. The government gets stronger and they get a new king. They don’t need Kryta’s help anymore → After getting rid of the Flame Legion, they finally go after Kralkatorrik.

Trahearne’s Wyld Hunt made Orr slowly heals → The Pact finished exterminating the risen and started introducing new species to the place, breathing new life on Orr → Many different factions want now to occupy Orr. Meanwhile, the Consortium is selling land on new, cleansed Orr → War between the factions. Nobles of Kryta that bought land on Orr are desperate → We are not with any of the factions, we are with the Pact, so we try to stop the war.

I would like to see something with Jormag, too, but I can’t think of a plot that would make me happy.

If YOU could change 7 things about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gabby.3205

Gabby.3205

1 – Being able to stow pets and not having they come out in battle, while being compensated with the percent of the DPS that the pets would have contributed with. There are some situations when having a pet is useful, but not all the time, and having a choice is always good.

2 – Hiring a different voice actor for the main character of the personal story. I mean, I bet people would like Trahearne better if his voice acting wasn’t so bad (making him hit harder would also help).

3 – Add a ball gown as a light armor skin. A real one. I am talking about a ball gown that is not skimpy like the Masquerade armor, that is not made of foliage like TA armor and that doesn’t have pants underneath like pretty much everything else.

4 – Making town clothes wearable in battle, even if only for PvE. I understand that, in other games, there are some people that like to blame their failure on PvP on the fact that they couldn’t identify the other player’s class based on their armor, because the armor was hidden. This kind of people would do the same here. I disagree and I think it is a l2p issue, but to avoid this kind of people, let’s say PvE only.

5 – Furniture we can actually use! Sitting on chairs, at least!

6 – Scaling dungeons. Not everyone likes to play with a full group. Some people like to play by themselves or with just one or two friends. Also, doing away with the instances that force you to solo. I don’t think people should be forced to play with or without a group. I mean, just let them play the way they want.

7 – More customization available on character creation. I like Aion’s character creation a lot. Something like that is what I expect of modern MMOs and what I expected of GW2. I was a bit disappointed.

I hope so. It is a bit sad that they are removing the cute blouses, but I’m hoping for even cuter outfits to be released after these are removed.
It is kinda odd that so many immersion-breaking clothes are being removed. I mean, it is not like we have an extensive style session, because we don’t, so it doesn’t make much sense to clean it up if they are not planning to add many new town clothes. I also hope that, in the future, they add more lore-friendly town clothes. Being able to use them in battle would be great, too.

Living Story: Do you understand it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Gabby.3205

Gabby.3205

All this culminated in a lot of fighting between the refugees/settlers and the Consortium and while we could take sides we largely ended up siding with Lion Guard Captain Ellen Kiel trying to get the settlers out of their unfair contracts without killing the Consortium. All of which was complicated by the actions of a rebel Consortium member called Canach who was using the island and the settlers as a testing ground for his new toxic pollen which was enraging the local wildlife.

This is not completely correct. You got Canach’s motives wrong.
Canach was not testing his new toxic pollen, he was trying to get revenge on the Consortium (and specially on Noll, who sent assassins to kill Canach) and to destroy the original contracts that were forcing the settlers to stay in Southsun Cove. He was trying to be the hero of the settlers while punishing the people that let him take the fall when the Karka attacked LA and that were hunting him down like an animal after he escaped prison.

Other than that, everything is pretty much like you said.

I usually just talk to the npcs and read the short stories. I also discuss the LS with other people here in the forums, but I hardly ever get any new information from that since everything other people know about the LS by reading third party sites I know too by playing the game and reading the short stories. Sometimes, a dev posts something relevant that is not in the game or in the short stories (like how Canach suffered and how he is not really a bad guy or crazy or anything, just desperate and misguided, and that he raided the Molten Facility during F&F).

I am also hoping that another world boss will get a revamp, maybe the Shatterer so I can get a mini Shatterer that has the same awesome animation that the mini Teq has.

Clothies Need More Armor Choices

in Suggestions

Posted by: Gabby.3205

Gabby.3205

I don’t agree that too many light armor sets are skimpy. However, I do agree that we need more options.
In my opinion, most light armor sets that are not in any way revealing are simply hideous. The ones that are not are either made of foliage (TA set, which is gorgeous, but I really wanted a version of it that looked like cloth) or have pants underneath.
I don’t know what is your character’s style, but my human mesmer is a noble, and I would like her to dress as one. However, there is absolutely no skirt that is not either ripped, mini, open on the front, too low (showing the stomach regardless of the top), made of foliage or have pants underneath.
Right now, my mesmer is wearing human T2 skit, Cabalist Coat, the Queen’s Mask and Exalted Boots (gloves and shoulders are hidden). I am by no means happy with her outfit, specially since the transition between the coat and the skirt is hideous (and the paaaaants aaaaargh). It is not like I have much of a choice right now (I’m not a big fan of the T2 coat because it shows skins on her back, and I wanted something that looked connected to the skirt so it would look like a dress, overall).
All I want is a ball gown :c

^I understand why you don’t like the character (though he is one of my favourites). Not everybody will like a character, even such a popular one. Again, I was just explaining that he wasn’t doing anything out of character by trying to be the hero. He is just like that, specially if a beautiful woman is involved. Doing the human noble PS doesn’t automatically makes a person like him, just like doing the sylvari PS won’t automatically make someone like Trahearne, and I certainly was not trying to imply that.

Also, about the bandits, it is not like any character on the PS cares for the bad guys that are being killed (maybe one or two of them do, but still, it is unusual).

Favorite LS Characters-Why

in Living World

Gabby.3205

Honorable & Dishonorable mention:

Lord Faren. Here you have this guy who is basically caricatured as vanity smurf and treated as comic relief (and he’s good for it).

Then he does something incredibly brave and out of character risking certain death… And. NOBODY GIVES A CRAP….. Certainly not Queen Jenna, who he risked his life for, and nobody cares enough to go look for him. That he’s discovered is a happy accident for him. He’s discovered in a torture chamber about to literally get roasted be scarlet, but its an occasion for a “men look dumb in underwear,” visual joke. He’s randomly in the toxic tower as a prisoner again, no backstory.

So you create this joke character who is somewhat memorable, have him do something brave, and then pooop on him instead of giving him a chance to redeem himself. It is a perfect example of the men are disposable meme, which would not be so annoying except that all of the story driving actions, aside from southsun and halloween, have been made by females for the benefit of females.

Waaaaait a minute. I take it that you never played the human noble story line, did you?
Faren is brave, but also clumsy. There was absolutely nothing out of character about him trying to save the queen and failing miserably. He is a good man with a huge heart. In the human noble story line, he puts his life on the line not only for the player, but also for a bunch of random plebeians.
I understand why someone that had never seen Faren before the Living Story would think like you, so don’t take it the wrong way. I am just explaining to you that what you think that is out of character for him actually is not.

I believe it is Anise that says that “we must rescue our VIP guest. Poor Faren, who knew he had courage on him” or something like that. So yeah, they do care. You are sent down there to save him too, not only to defeat Scarlet.
About being a prisoner inside the Tower, we really could have used some backstory on that, but I believe it is safe to assume that he was either trying to be a hero (again) or looking for Kasmeer.

Favorite LS Characters-Why

in Living World

Posted by: Gabby.3205

Gabby.3205

Characters I love:

1 – Canach
I love him. Really, he is my favourite character on the LS and is in my game-wide top 3. I like how he was a villain, but not really evil. He was being hunt like an animal by the Consortium, experimenting hunger, thirst, sleep deprivation and loneliness, I would be surprised if a person going through this kind of situation didn’t start throwing Karka at people. We don’t know nearly as much about him as I want to, but I like his personality for what we have seen until now. I seriously hope that the Consortium doesn’t end up killing him while he is in jail. He has a lot of potential and I would like to see him joining Braham, Rox, Kas and Jory, as one of the good guys. The snarky comments would be glorious.

2 – Rox and Braham
After good ol’ Tibs, I didn’t thought I would like another charr that much (I can’t stand most charr and asura npcs). At first, I was a bit concerned about her face (her eyes used to give me the creeps), but her personality is well-developed and she is funny.
At first, I didn’t like Braham. Eir is one of my favourite characters, and I hate the way he treats her (the nerve!). I really hope they will get closer to each other in the future. Anyway, I really thought Braham was an annoying brat at first, but as he interacted with the other characters, I started to like him. He is a really nice guy (and Otillia can go die in a hole), a kind giant like most norns. I can see that he has a huge heart.
The way Rox and Braham interact with each other always makes me smile. These two are best buddies for life, and I couldn’t ask for anything different.

3 – Marjory
Aside for that childish fart joke, Marjory is a very interesting character. She is cunning, smart and overall fun to be with. She looks great, too. Her hair is my favourite hairdo in the game (my canthan wears it proudly), her back story is interesting and I like how she tries to look cool but desperately yells for Kasmeer when we are inside the tower. Her personality could use more development, but I believe that she has a lot of potential.

Characters I dislike (first being the worst):

1 – Kiel
She could just drop dead and I would be happy. Really, I want to punch her stupid face. She stole Canach’s credit and then threw him in jail. Yes, she did, just pay attention to what happened: Canach destroyed the copies of the contracts that were stored in LA. He then proceeded to try to destroy the original ones, in Southsun Cove, by throwing Karka on the general direction of the place the contracts are stored. Kiel decides to blow up the contracts because she can’t simply render them invalid, since apparently the most basic human rights either do not exist in Tyria or are not applicable to charr and norn, so contractual obligation is more important than freedom (remember that the Consortium hunts down people that try to run from their contracts). She then blows up the contracts, puts the blame on Canach and is seen as a hero by the settlers.
Now, tell me. What would her plan be good for if Canach didn’t have destroyed the copies first? Yeah, it would be good for nothing. Doesn’t matter, let’s beat up a secondborn and then proceed to throw him in jail.
Then, Theo Ashford is murdered (/cry). Marjory solves the mystery. Mai Trin is thrown in jail (probably next to Canach’s invisible cell), and… Magnus gives Kiel a ship that used to belong to the Pact? Seriously? And she keeps it? Hey, Trahearne, the pirates of LA are stealing your ships!
Also, her attitude. Ugh. She could at least try not to sound like a bully. I do not want all the characters to be nice (note that I love Canach), but she just gets under my skin. I mean, Dessa was not being rude to her, but Kiel had to act like a total jerk to her.

2 – Scarlet
The only reason why she is not number 1 is because I like her voice, which is expressive and very fitting.
I am a roleplayer, and I hate god modding. That should be enough for anyone to understand why I dislike her.

There are other characters that I hate, like Subdirector Noll, but it is for the right reasons. Therefore, I don’t think these characters that I dislike but that I didn’t put in my list are bad. I mean, I want to shove Noll in a blender for what he did to Canach and to the settlers, but I believe that’s how the Devs wanted us to feel about him anyway.

The hats could at least have standard hair. Even if it doesn’t match your character’s hairdo, it is better than suddenly being bald. Well, unless your character is already bald…

I think the Masquerade set would be a good choice. It is really popular, too.
I won’t buy it anyway because I hate fiery armor.

Of course, I would prefer an original set, but I guess I will have to wait.

All I have to say: FINALLY.
Now I can take my alts to the mists when I don’t feel like playing as a ranger and still have skills to help the Toast.

Scarlet.....did we vote for her?

It doesn’t matter that the Fall of Abaddon was ages before Scarlet. She could simply invade the fractal pretty much like we do every time we run one, just to make it harder for us.
(Or she could just time-travel and show up at the Fall of Abaddon anyway, maybe using the Infinity Ball’s tech)

His antisocial, dull nature is to be expected of a character who has lived alone in Orr for years on end and who is considered a social outcast among most of his peers in the Grove.

It is natural that the Vigil would desire to recruit him, as he obtained valuable knowledge of the undead from his years of study. With training, he would no doubt make a superb tactician.

Is is natural that the Priory would revere him; he is Tyria’s foremost scholar on Orr and (arguably) the boldest scholar in Tyria.

It is natural that the Order of Whispers would not only desire his information but would also respect the natural gift of stealth that Trahearne would have needed to have in order to survive alone in Orr for decades.

^This.
But really, I started liking Trahearne when I played a Sylvari. It is interesting how the other Sylvari think that he is weird, despite the fact that he is not only a firstborn, he is *The Firstborn*. He is a good character, but his voice acting sucks.

Edit: We simply can’t do what he does. Our role is to fight, his is to command. He is a scholar, we are adventurers. We are part of his army. He takes credit for what his army do because he is in charge and that’s how it works.
Also, I would like to remember everybody that Trahearne loves you. He gets worried about you when you have to go somewhere dangerous without him ("*happy* Welcome back! *relieved* I am glad you are safe.") and he trusts you more than he trusts anybody, including himself. He needs you to keep pushing him forward because he is really insecure, and he always let you know that he is grateful for everything you did. I can’t hate someone like that.

The solution is to have Trahearne bury Caladbolg in Scarlet’s face. She’s dead we can all be happy about that and Trahearne got rid of her for use so now we like him again.

But then, people that don’t get that the player can’t do Trahearne’s job will complain that he stole their story again.

Maybe Trahearne could toss Caladbolg to the player and the player could bury Caladbolg in Scarlet’s face instead?
