“The game is down because the surprise removal of PVE culling did not go as intended. When logging back in however, you will find it gone.”
I can dream ^^
All this “dirty move” “shady company” garbage… Seriously, its comparable to saying video games make people go out and kill others. It is called self control, it is common sense, it is a sense of responsibility. It is not Arenanets fault if people are wasting money on the game when they should be spending it on something to further or better their real lives. But again, they have the right to do as they please with their money. They don’t need big brother telling them what to buy and what not to buy.
In Soviet Russia gems buy you.
Welcome to America. Managed to get a cold war era reference in there and all, good work.
;)
“These people also want a cheap way to boost they’re self esteem in a way by making their in game character impressive compared to their real life persona.”
Boosting self esteem by looking pretty in a game..
Digital esteem is a false sense of self esteem. You gain nothing in real life by thinking you now look better in a video game. While I agree peoples self esteem can be affected by video games, if they are truly caring so much about self worth that they need to spend money on unrealistic things, their problems are far deeper than simply what can be discussed here..

If people are spending all their money on gems for RNG or pretty items, that is their business. Why people feel compelled to control others monetary access and spending is beyond me.. Sounds self righteous and controlling to me. Maybe people buying RNG chests aren’t the ones with psychological issues.

This time around there actually IS another way to get the boxes, off mobs in the Southsun. With the settlers magic find boost I’ve actually gotten 5 boxes in 2 days. I didn’t have to spend 1 dime in the gem store. So yes, when you say there is no other option to get them, you’re wrong. This data is also in the patch notes.
I’ve not had a box drop yet. A guildie had two drop yesterday. No tickets in them, however. I don’t mind not getting a ticket myself, as I don’t particularly like the eyeball weapon skins, but one of my other guildies thinks they’re cool. Here’s hoping she’s lucky enough to get one.
I got one yesterday, didn’t even realize it lol. Opened up to about 12 karka shells, a passion flower and some passion fruit (I forget the amount). Not bad for freebies
Pretty much the reason why I have quit playing the game. Flame and Frosts Fused Weapons (skins) hidden behind the rng was the last straw me. Heck you could completely ignore the “free content” and just play the cash shop casino to obtain one ticket… maybe. What happened to the idea of completing quests to gain items?
Fixed. Don’t want people thinking it was something important.
I had 8000 gold when I disconnected, I’ll expect it to be there when I log back in.
Sincerely,
THAT guy.

Arenant is like “Whoops.. crap”
Players response: http://youtu.be/aMj0t7sds7I
Actually in most places unemployment is going down, stocks are doing better than they have in years. Many people have found good jobs, veterans are getting lower in unemployment, overall i think we are doing well.
As for a demographic, I think it is rude to call people “weak” because they purchase chests or any RNG items. You get items, I like items, you like items, if you purchase them thinking I will get X item, then you probably won’t. I see this discussion all the time, weak players, unemployed, kids with moms credit cards. You don’t find that rude?
I fought for my country, I’m a disabled veteran with a wife a child and full time college. And yet i enjoy the occasional RNG box, karma box what have you. I find it rude and poorly worded for you to say that Arenanet is somehow taking advantage of people with weak wills, or large pockets. Who are you or anyone to judge other players on our actions.
You don’t like RNG stuff, don’t buy it. Don’t impose your belief that everyone is terrible, poor, weak, pathetic, unemployed who gets these. Some of us understand the chances and odds and are totally fine with that, I can always use some armor boosters or more trans stones (even though I’m at 120…). People who complain about others buying optional skins just sound jealous and entitled. I’m sorry I have money and can spend it on random things because I’m able to pay my bills and live comfortably.
This has been a test of the emergency trial period of GW2, the regularly scheduled MMO will begin shortly. We appreciate your patience. :P
I was like oh dear god what happened to my account lol.. Then came to forums to see:
“We’re aware of the login issues and we’re working on it. Don’t worry, we didn’t just convert all of you to free trial players!”
And lol’d :P Now THAT would have been a funny april fools :P
I’ll take the karka shells.
TC has infinite overflow in southsun. Towns are full, so full you can barely take a step without running into someone.
You can guest to full servers, you just can’t transfer. On the US side I believe every server is very full. If you don’t see many people they are either in southsun doing the new content, or it could be a slow time of day/week. This thread is one step away from the endless “game is dying” argument… Be afraid, be very afraid.
Cursed shore may seem dead because many people dislike the epic mobs.
You don’t have to run 8 year financial forecasts to realise that there are alternatives to funding a game other than through RNG cash shop.
Can you explain what those alternatives are, and what makes them better than selling random cosmetic items?
I can’t think of any myself.
Maybe they would rather pay for the living content which is released pretty much every month :P But oh wait.. then we would just be paying subs ^^
Ask yourself this: where in the world is it ok to promote gambling to teenagers?
GW2 is not an adult only game. It also does not matter how collectible card games and Kinder Surprise gets away with it. They are just as wrong. Nintendo learned that lesson hard and started to remove the slot machines from Pokemon in Europe, when they cam under fire for “promoting a false perception on gambling”. (You could only win more money by playing more Pokemon slotmachines, you never lost in the long run).
The damage ArenaNet is inviting is not so much of a financial nature but one of reputation.
Rated Teen. 18 can buy lottery tickets in NY.
Gambling that is legal for all ages:
Tattoo sticker games
8+ Various MMO in game lotteries
Gum ball machines
School raffles
The list goes on and on. Real life is a gamble in just about anything you do, at any age. This argument about “teen gambling” is getting old. Just about every MMO has this, I find it far less life changing than beating hookers in trunks, killing stereotypical middle eastern people with rocket launchers, seriously…
With all that out there on TV and in video games, if you think a silly “optional” box that is nothing but “optional” content that GARAUNTEES ((SOMETHING)) will drop, I really don’t see why THIS of all things bothers you and others. Seriously people will complain about anything. Read CNN for 1 week and tell me RNG lottery in GW2 is the hottest most disturbing topic that people need to go into such great detail about..
The manifesto argument is just as ridiculous. Name a game that gave you their entire business plan for 1 year and did every single aspect without changing anything whatsoever. And then remove any games that introduced something players didn’t like and kept it in game. Then go to that final game, if it exists, and stop bickering over some silly video that was for advertisement value. People really need to understand how commercials and advertising works before blowing off steam at a company. I’m going to go yell at dawn dish soap because my hands don’t look as nice and healthy as the models on the commercial after washing dishes for 20 minutes..

Yes bonfire is up. Got it. Doesn’t fix my problem.
You had a month in advance to read the info about it, 2 weeks to do the dungeon parts of it, and now an extended epilogue. If you want to follow living story, you have to keep up on whats going on by reading the updates and info. Otherwise you miss out and this happens.
April 30th, 14:35
“The Molten Facility dungeon will be available until Sunday, May 12^^at 12:00pm Pacific, when the entire Flame and Frost saga will progress to an epilogue. At this point, players will no longer be able to earn achievements associated with the previous chapters of Flame and Frost, nor will they be able to earn the achievement Rage against the War Machine.
The Flame and Frost epilogue will be active from Sunday, May 12 at 12:00pm Pacific until Thursday May 16 at 12:00am Pacific the release of the Secret of Southsun on Tuesday May 14. The epilogue will mostly consist of conversations and story elements; there are no exclusive rewards to be given at this time.”
“Update: You will be able to complete the Secret Contact achievement during the epilogue to make up for the time it was not working previously.”

Hi everyone,
We understand the frustration about not having enough notice to claim the achievement. The original date given for the Epilogue was incorrect, and while we corrected date in forum posts and on the website, some did not see the updated information or have the time to collect that achievement.
We will put the bonfires back in the game tomorrow, sometime during ArenaNet office hours, so players who missed out can get the Rallying Flame achievement. The bonfires will not give any buffs, however.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
EDIT: The bonfires will remain in-game until May 28.
I’m not cheering just yet. I don’t see a bonfire up in any of the three cities mentioned in the achievement description.
EDIT: What I mean by the bonfire not being up is that it is only in Hoelbrak, but you cannot interact with it.

I think living story is what they are giving players who come and go, they want them to return and try new things every time they log in. An expansion will be something that adds a large core to the game, whereas living story leaves remnants of historical changes over time.

PS that thread is DIRECTLY below this one ^^
I think peoples surprise about higher age in MMO’s is do to the fact they forget something very important. The first MMO’s or MMO style games came out in early 80’s and 90’s. Now if a person played and loved a game in say 1999 with Everquest, and they were maybe 15, they would now be 29. Some may have played back then at higher ages, so really we have a pretty large player base in many MMO’s of 30+ aged people. They didn’t simply stop at their first mmo, they may have moved on to different games one after another. And just because they aged doesn’t mean they can’t play those MMO’s anymore.
Try not to take numbers from forums though, as they do not represent a large amount of the playerbase. I know people in their teens to 50’s who still play MMO’s. I’m not able to back this up by facts as I don’t feel like doing the research at the moment, but I would say a large amount of MMO players are between 25-38. That a large number of 13-19 year olds migrate to certain genres, and the rest fan out. And the players who are 20-35 right now will be the 40+’s in future MMO’s
My birthday is this month.. and I can say I sure do feel old, even if I’m not as old as some, I feel so because of my experiences. MMO’s really help us feel young again, especially those of us who had no chance to really have a childhood.
We have players under the age of 18 if they do buy it is that illegal(online gambling).
It’s not gambling. You are GUARENTEED to get something, just maybe not what you want.
I guess lucky dips should be illegal for children too.
It is gambling. The item you want is not guaranteed when opening the chest, you buy the chests to get a chance on the weapon skins, and nothing else..How in the world are you missing the fact that this is gambling ?
Gambling “. To take a risk in the hope of gaining an advantage or a benefit.” " An act or undertaking of uncertain outcome; a risk: I took a gamble that stock prices would rise."
It’s not gambling, because you don’t have to buy it for the skin. The skin is just one possible item that you can get. It’s like buying a raffle. You get a raffle without any guarantee of getting anything except that you get nothing for buying it and only get something if you win. In this case, you’re buying something which contains something. It’s not TECHNICALLY gambling.
If you put a dollar in a slot machine there’s no guarantee you get anything out of it. If you buy a consortium chest, you get something for your money.
I mean for years, cereal packets have random prices in them. Collect all the toys. Collect all the stickers. We’ve seen McDonalds have a monopoly game where you have to get different pieces to get a chance to win.
Gambling? Nah, not really. But it’s still annoying as hell. lol
.Read the definition of gambling, because it is.And dont even compare gambling to cereal packets, wich you buy to Feed yourself and the toy is a little extra, you dont get a chance to get food, you get food for 100% and a chance on a toy.In this case,i would buy the chest to get the skin since im not interested in getting anything else, now if im buying 100 boxes because i want the weapon skin and i keep getting something else,How is this not gambling….? You can keep telling yourself it isn’t,but it is.
Again..Gambling; An act or undertaking of uncertain outcome; a risk
I buy those chest to get a weapon with uncertain outcome…it’s a risk……By your definition then, running a dungeon for tokens is a risk too, because there’s no guarantee you’ll complete it. It may be gambling in your mind, it’s not gambling by law. And that’s sorta what matters. You can’t regulate something that isn’t gambling.
Baseball cards have random cards in them, you buy them in packs for real money and there’s no guarantee you’ll get a good card. It’s not considered gambling.
It’s not by my definition,it’s by the Dictionairy’s definition, wich you can’t seem to grasp.
I think what you are not grasping is it really doesn’t matter if it falls under the term gambling. Because even if it is a gamble in theory, it has no legal basis here. No laws can be applied, no one can fight “the man”, no one can take legal action against Arenanet or NCsoft for it. You do not gain real cash by “gambling” in game. So sure, call it gambling, but don’t try and make people think it is the same as real life gambling, or make it sound like arenanet is somehow influencing our children into gambling addiction or some crap like that. The gamble isn’t a win or lose, the gamble is on WHAT you win.

Game shut down and won’t open lol… Update ftw!
I liked:
“Malchor’s Leap:
Pact cannons near the Shelter Docks are now fully operational.
The Inquest Ornithologist has been upgraded to a champion, as befits her Group Event status.”
“You can now purchase the Southsun Supply Crate in the Consumable category of the Gem Store for 1 for 150 gems or 10 for 1200 gems. These special crates contain Southsun crafting materials and a chance at items such as shoulder skins, new boosts and convenience items, and a rare chance at new weapon skins and minis. The Southsun Supply Crates will only be available until June 10. The Southsun Supply Crates will also be a limited-time rare drop off the creatures on the island during this time.”

I would just like to say that when I started my GW1 account, it was after buying GW2. I instantly received a log in attempt from china, and then again after I linked my gw1 to my gw2. It seemed weird, i only went to official website to buy and download the game. It seems like something in-between is unsecured.
WTF is lemongrass anyways? is it lemon or is it grass? Whats with all these puzzles Arenanet? I just want to sit in Lions Arch with nothing to do in peace, i don’t play this game to be confused.

I’m very sorry, but we are not able to retrieve mis-sent items.
i don’t want item from you . i just want to upgrade trial account for take my item in mail back ! is possible ?
Oh, I’m sorry — I misunderstood. You should be able to add a new serial code to the trial account to make it a full retail account. For help, contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. They should be able to assist you if you aren’t sure how to activate the account.
Gaile!!!! Welcome back! =)
Thanks.
yes but i will found this mail with item if i active trial in full game ? this is my question … support don’t help cause they don’t know ! :/
If you sent an item to that account and you are sure, activating that account as a full account would allow you to receive the item. I believe they said trial accounts keep their progress, but you would have to ask them to be sure. She would have to give them her account info and they can check to see if her account has that item.
Also your English is a little hard to understand, I don’t mean that in a mean way. But you may want to ask support in a language they can talk to you fluently in. That way there is no mixups or misunderstandings.
Yes here is that known cliche.. “I support Anet that way” No you dont you support yourself and this is just excuse for your ingame weakness. Will you send to Anet some money just like that without any gems as reward? I dont think so:-).
I disagree with this part. I do believe buying items in game is supporting Anet. Just as much as shopping at Walmart is supporting Walmart. If you do not like that store you can personally boycot it because you do not believe they are helpful or hurt small businesses. If you believe Arenanet has made and continues to make a good game, our cash supports their plans and future content. I do not see this as a weakness. If you can afford to support a company that treats you well, you should, and do it by purchasing their services/products. This is basic principles of business, you simply show your appreciation for a company by buying products by them. You cannot compare it to a friend, where “supporting” them actually means giving away money. This is a business, and as many business owners and consumers alike know all too well, we speak with our wallets.
That sounds like a great idea. It allows content to continuously increase yet not become stale because it sits in game forever and no one plays it anymore because they are bored with it.
Maybe they could work out some way for people who missed the original event to get the title.
That’s what i was thinking. It seems they are heading this way, maybe I read into it to much. But either way if they do follow this path I think they would get much less hate. But many things lead to this being a possibility like the fact we still have achievements not finished, taking players concerns over not getting any items, etc etc. It would really be great if this whole thing was exactly what they plan, and I hope it is.
What’s up with bonfires in GW2 not hurting you when you stand on them?
Magical flames. I know.. I know.. but thats all I got :P
Can multiple characters on the same account get the buff? Does it work in WvW?
I grabbed the buff on every character, and they stack with others. I do believe it will work in wvw.
There are a few MMO’s that allow and even orchestrate marriage in game.
I built a new comp and that in combination with that RNG dungeon I just haven’t re-installed it yet.
I was really digging the F&F event too. Seems like it took a quick turn for the worst at the end though.
Well I’m hoping its all part of a grander scheme, so I’m still optimistic ^^

We need more ron swanson
John Smith will play the part of Ron Swanson in the upcoming patch.
I wanna marry Logan….. c:
I think it would be great to marry in-game!
I support this
Except he would die in 5 seconds when faced with any monster above level 3..
Edited title to be more specific :P
I did try my chance at the rng monster and I knew full well my chances when I did. If I didn’t get a ticket I can only blame myself as they are optional and in no way help my character other than visual “prettyness”. Around 170 ish keys, 4 tickets. 2 daggers, 1 shortbow, 1 greatsword. My guardian has the new mace/shield + fused GS, my thief has the fused daggers, short bow, and new quiver.
I’m genuinely curious how you feel about the purchase and the RNG after the fact? By my math if you spent money for all the keys that would be approximately $190. Would you do it again? Is it something you are content to pay every couple of months for new skins or was it more a one time thing? What about compared to the Mace/Shield skins you bought separately?
How I personally see it (and this is based on my income and life etc, everyone is different), at $15 a month for subs you are spending $180 a year on sub games. Add in the price of the game itself, say $60, and you have $240 a year. So if I value the game, and feel they have things I would like, there is a set limit to how much I’m willing to spend on something that is solely RNG. The mace and shield I have, I enjoy quite a bit, same with the 2 quivers, the mini, and various other things. When I decide on RNG purchases I think of that golden number $240, now I would lose this in a year no matter how much I play that sub game. So when I hit $240 whether it be in a day, a month or 8 months later, then I decide if I will go further into RNG items. I consider it a “heres a chance at getting that skin, you have my support for what I would waste on a sub game.” Now if I hit that amount and get nothing, then I’ll no longer use that money to play RNG. I will only buy things that are guaranteed, and thus supporting those things and the game itself.
I personally believe they deserve at least as much as a sub game a year, so I give them that on their RNG factor items. Beyond that I’m only supporting through 100% items/addons etc. Now since I DID get those tickets X4, I feel it was money well spent in my case. If I hadn’t then I would not continue to play RNG this year. So I guess in the end I could say Arenanet has my money for RNG items up to that cap, or less depending on my liking of it or not. But just to that cap, you introduce too much RNG and I will not support it, and in the future could influence my purchasing decisions on those 100% items as well.
Now I spend much money on the game because it is really my only hobby outside of real life stuff. I’m neither rich nor poor in my opinion, and play the game because I find it relaxing. I don’t pvp really, sometimes I will check out wvw though. So when they give me an opportunity to better my experience in game I take it. But even I have my limits, as do most. I generally enjoy the “gamble” most call it, but as you can see I set limits for myself. And by the design of the gem store as is, I would say they will get much more out of me with 100% items, than with RNG based luck. I have no problem supporting the game, but i don’t hold it against them for having 1 aspect in gem store that many people do not like. Much like judging a book by its cover, there is so much more “good” then “bad” in GW2.
Yes, I need more room too.. And/or fix BL gathering tools to not stack in such a durr way ..
Wait, the final reward for F&F is a buff? I don’t have GW2 installed on my comp anymore to check it out. Please someone tell me that’s what you get, lmao.

Temporary content is the CORE design of GW2. Just sayen.
Are you ’Super Saiyen?
Super sayen 5 bro, and I don’t even lift. :P
I actually have a lot to say on this subject, but I started my own thread a few hours ago I think on the topic.

Looks like the mods are on crack. How is this a suggestion thread in any way at all?
No idea… maybe we touched a soft spot lol? Because they release items which in their opinion are meant to look prestigious. So maybe we have angered the content “gods” by analyzing what is and is not. ^^ But yea.. I even made a tldr lol..
None of the posts are even suggestions..
Anywho… I have the golden title, but don’t feel it is some epic feat. I do have the living story one, that does feel good because until this week I wasn’t going to even do it. I guess I just didn’t feel like it, but luckily changed my mind and finished it all. So I feel good I finished something, and it was fun. So that title for me is good, nothing super amazing, but historical wise its pretty neat.
