Now please don’t turn this into the game is dying thread.. There is many events where people are not in most areas and new content was just released. (Also time was 4pm EST) But I feel as though some servers have some serious number problems. I was very close to having to solo Maw today, luckily at the last part 5… five… people came and we finished it. This is a little depressing. Granted I guest and find others where the culling is terrible or I’m in overflow, but it feels like servers really need a real examination by devs. I actually recorded it but it is a pretty large file so I can’t upload it at the moment. On the plus side I did get 3 rares from chest, 1 rare from bonus, and finished my daily all at the same time ^^;

I like the multi, its not a big deal to switch and see other servers but seeing several on one page is handy. Since we are bound to 3 servers max, its nice to be able to catch our favorite events if we missed them on server a and b. Makes it easier to be a casual player with less time on hand ^^

I think a scythe motion like the videos I listed, with a wind slicing sound would have been just fine. Rather than water spurting up out of ground that probably has no water pockets in it. We could assume the molten pick was a technological pick that causes searing heat and melted ore. The scythe.. I got nothen.

You don’t hack down at plants, and from what I’ve seen the small spurt of water isn’t really equal to the molten pickaxe. There is the fact that hacking downwards could hit rocks and make this noise, but that’s just not how we would gather in game if given the choice..
In fact we don’t even use scythes in a stabbing manner in most games http://youtu.be/QUkXYsNUEzg , so not really sure where they were going with this.

ANY MMO that’s dying will start reducing it’s staff. Most MMOs don’t have a staff of 300 to begin with. Games that did badly like Star Wars ToR and TSW (or at least well below expectation) fired percentages of their staff. And because these are public companies, they have to let people know when there’s a lay off or they can be in serious trouble.

NCsoft is also a public company. So if the game is doing badly why is Anet hiring?

Actually their reports are listed as NCsoft is a publicly traded company. And they are hiring according to their page and have been for several months. They have said that numbers are steady and even growing steadily. And that micro-transactions are strong, and the company has gotten the go ahead for making an expansion. Calling everyone who supports the game a cancer to the game just makes you look petty and sort of sad. If you could talk intelligently and back your posts by facts perhaps you wouldn’t sound like your just simply whining.

Mind me asking how long you played the character for to get 80? Also did you end up soloing the entire way?
I’m playing a ranger myself at the minute, simply because I do quite well in spvp which currently is the only side to the game thats keeping me here.

I played for about a week and a half to get 80. Keep in mind I was playing several hours a day and stupidly speeding through content :P

Story-Solo. Didn’t finish the last part (group required) until a month after I hit 80 on my 2nd character.
Hearts-Mix of solo and just doing with people in area,this is open world stuff.
Meta Events- Always with people, not in party but around others since you don’t actually need party.
Dungeons-Of course need a party here.

Fastest way for me after my first 80-
Story, events, meta events, exploration. At 60 you can do 2 crafts, I prefer cooking and jeweler. Each will net 10 levels. This is optional though. If you need help in game you can pm me in game or on forums I can give you plenty of ways to more speedily level. But my best advice is don’t rush, you get burned out quickly like us.. Unless its actually negatively affecting your enjoyment by being low level, take your time.

From experience I can say that drop rate has decreased quite a bit. I harvest all herbs in metrica province and caledon forest daily ever since the game launched and i can repport drops have been abysmal since the last major update.

Last 3 hours 300 vanilla beans. RNG is RNG, them black peppercorns will get you.

I have gone back there many times and reliably get far fewer from the same nodes. They said they changed the drop table when they removed black peppercorn, they’d have to adjust things so that there’s not an overage of vanilla with peppercorn removed, maybe they overdid it.

The only way to get 100 vanilla beans per hour is botting or TP. Prove me wrong.

The problem is that Vanilla beans really only drop well in a few places, and those aren’t even hard places. I will log in an edit to see what the ratio was, but I wasn’t keeping track of the other types at the time aside from peppercorns and Vanilla Beans.

I want to make a comment in regards to the chat filter. Ive been doing alot of digging and research on the subject and I just happen to know for a fact that Arena.net and Ncsoft have purposely developed the chat filter system to allow people to foolishly fall victom to their TOS and ban them. Its a way for them to make money and my source comes right from the horses mouth. A family who has partial ownership over arena.net. It can be considered a conpsiracy if you want to call it that but its fact that ncsoft perma bans peoples accounts over repeated offences. The chat filter is the most useless tool available to Gw2 Players since it only works 1 way. Im pretty angry over this fact and have asked for help with several outside well connected anet sources on the subject but responces have been very quiet on this topic. My guess is they want to keep it quiet and dont want people knowing. The fact theres no contract you sign when you manualy remove and unlock the chat filter is evidence enough that anet allows people to use vulger language. If your going to have a filter it needs to work both ways. And removing the filter should acknowledge that you are willfully signing an agreement that you infact wish to view vulger language and also to use it as well. If you remove the chat filter you shouldnt have the right to report vulger language in the first place, reducing the amount of reports for GMs to sort through. Ultimatly what it comes down to is $ money. GMs need tickets for their daily quota, so they go home feed their Kids and family. Have a nice cushy job and earn a descent income. But the fact that ncsoft refuses to acknowledge these details and my sources is proof enough. Its a cycle of corruption that has infested even the lead GMs of ncsoft.

Its sad, for a game that has half naked women that can strip down nearly naked, and weapons and art that reveal the most intimate parts of a woman ncsoft has declared its still just a game for younger teens. This is just insane. If Anet isnt willing to make the filter work both ways then its just showing that the cycle of corruption will continue on and on.

You do realize that the same exact chat filter is in.. well just about every game, ever? this isn’t an NCsoft thing. And unless that family is Nexon, I’m keeping my tinfoil hat on..

Exactly why shows get shut down, terrible ratings metrics.. 3m viewers watch a show on tv, 8 million watch it online, show gets shut down because the 3m looks small. Bad samples are bad. Commercials are just as bad, advertisers and companies are lazy, spamming the same Phoenix commercial every 4 minutes is not intelligent. Smart people administer surveys that makes sense, not smart people work and ABC closing down shows.

“Another criticism of the measuring system itself is that it fails the most important criterion of a sample: it is not random in the statistical sense of the word. A small fraction of the population is selected and only those that actually accept are used as the sample size. Also how do you world your question how do you deal with ppl who want these surveys just to borderland troll the game (there are at least 1 mil wow players who love the fact there are ppl in GW2 who are not happy and would do any thing to take the game down) how do you deal with ppl whom views are on the extremes?

The thing is ppl who tend to ask for surveys feel as if there views are not being looked at when it comes to how the game or realty any thing in life changes.

Surveys are widely used in business as well as federal and psychological information gathering. For hundreds of years they have been used to get an idea of what people think about certain things. Yes there is biased information, that is where the psychology comes in. You simply need to know that some people will chose the lesser options just to try and bring down the idea. But if the overall community is mostly positive that says something, it says a lot. The money and ability to do this is there, Arenanet and NCsoft have plenty of money. In fact NCsoft used to conduct, and still does make in game surveys so the technology and want is already there for the main company. The fact is that people in the game will have to log in to answer, people who are on forums will have to answer if they want to be heard. Discounting forum people just because some have left, want to troll the game, or are just angry little children takes away from the purpose. Because in creating unbiased surveys we cannot be biased against those who have left or felt unhappy about the game. In fact those people are just as important, because not every person who left was some childish attention monger, they might be able to give reasons why they left as well.

Seems like a ploy to change prices to me.

I mean have you seen players in places other than the places that Anet funnels players into? Players don’t really decide where they go, Anet does. Try going to any other map and you won’t see more than 1 person. Because of what Anet is doing (Funneling players into maps for achievements or rewards), they’re essentially screwing over the rest of the world. Think about your comment for a second. Of course if Anet packs multiple events into one place, all of the players will flock there almost instantaneously. That obviously does not count.

That was just a statement about the overflow. I see this same population “bulge” in most cities, and even regular map areas on all the “full” servers. As far as very full servers some do seem busy in towns and in general map areas, and some seem less so. I’m aware event areas are not a way to judge population.

Those need to reflect actual server sizes, my server “Northern Shiverpeaks” is a ghost town at all times and even in big events I often don’t see enough people to complete them. “Very High” my kitten ….

I agree NSP does seem emptier than others for a server that states “Very High”. Would be nice if it was based on active users rather than accounts. But then they would need more metrics for generating reports on activity. On the other hand that would give them the chance to announce what the active player base was if they wanted.

All 4 of my favorite servers are full… the rest are very full. Think we need yet another upgrade on server size.

Also have they ever said what the cap for servers is? I know they mentioned per map etc, and I think each server reaches full once a limit ikitten for account numbers.

“Many thousands” is all I could find. So if “many” is, lets say a small guess of 2000 accounts per server that would mean:
20 servers @ 1000+ accounts.
4 Servers @ 2000+ accounts. (Just guessing on both these I have no idea.)
So we have a minimum of 28,000 players if my imaginary numbers were correct. Which sort of doesn’t make sense because if we had 3m accounts.. no way servers would be able to allow more to join at launch. They also recently raised the amount, so that makes it even harder for me to guess.. So I’ll make a wild and crazy guess that the cap is 125,000 accounts per. Which would mean if the full servers are 500,000 total and the very full are maybe at around 80,000 each (1,600,000) then we would have 2,100,000 accounts in game right now(US). Which seems possible.. But again, made up numbers so I really can’t seem to make an educated guess and my brain hurts..

You can do the same with Enjin Overwolf by opening the overlays browser and putting it on the page. I don’t see an overlay like this being a problem as it is basically just allowing you to not have to swap out much like how overwolf does. But Arenanet would have the final say here, but they can’t because of how they address this problem. They can’t vet or deny something really. If it IS like the overwolf overlay I don’t think it would be considered bad though, many players would like this considering how annoying it is to tab out.

Also, I’m surprised that the creator of the cool new dragon timer hasn’t tried and incorporated this as an enjin app, I think they are opening that availability soon.

Haven’t notice a problem with them, it is possible albeit a bit grindy, to farm at least 100 a day.

Many people who generally may have farmed them could be in SS farming there. When there is little to do in game, that is when alts and farming items/events/mobs comes into play. When those people stop, you tend to see spikes. This is just a theory. Check the date on the changes in mats, then check the date on when Southsun opened its different steps. There is some wiggle room as far as it happening at the very moment of starting, but could be a sign. Dills start was a strange phenomenon, its increased prices are more of a market scare. Goes to show just takes one person and one thread to change an items worth, even if temporarily.

Boxes hold items of various rarities, those rarities have been known by players. If you pick the wrong cup you still get an item. Not a con, a chance. And really wish people would stop putting RNG boxes into every single thread, it has its own threads, stop bleeding into every other one.

You’re joking right? F2P, B2P..same thing if you ask me, besides the initial purchase. The cash shops are the same..the unlocking of bag space..etc. I’ve never experienced an RNG box in a sub game. RNG in loot off bosses? Sure..but not RNG boxes, designed to get you to purchase as many as possible. You can hide it under the guise of having a chance all you want…if it was a sub game that chance would turn into you can get it by playing straight up.

Transmog gear (which are skins) in wow are locked behind content…like challenge mode dungeons and darkmoon festivities. In this game tho? You have to just keep buyion and buyin and buyin…or farming and farming and farming (isn’t that funny? You’re comeback will be about being able to obtain it in game…by contradicting all the other apologists about how this game isn’t about farming. lols)

If you think B2P=F2P I can’t help you. I’ve played far too many years of MMO’s to be ignorant to the differences in the models, but I’m not going to further derail someones threads so you can inject your RNG complaints into every discussion.

Wow you sound so intelligent, it’s blowing my mind. First, you accuse me of putting RNG in every thread on the forums..and then you claim to be only looking at this thread….

Why don’t you try this one on for size then… Non-sub games require you to purchase storage and character slots. Non-sub games take away any streamlined way of farming because they’d rather you buy the gold from them instead.

First, sub games do have costs involved in character additions etc, not all but some. Example-FFXI.

Your second reply is an opinion, not a fact, so I’ll leave it at that. But aside, not every game has a gem>cash/cash>gem converter or equivalent.

Not every MMO falls under the same conditions, many vary so greatly that they can’t be lumped into one category or another. Many even change from their original concepts and thus push them into even more varied varieties. There are pros and cons to all of them, but because of the huge variety of differences it isn’t fair to state one is 100% this way or that way.
