This is all excellent advice, I haven’t got around to doing this fight yet but I can go into it prepared when I do now, thanks to everyone! (Or nearly everyone )

I rez people all the time, in fact I go out of my way to if I’m able to. And people do the same to me. Maybe TC is just a particularly friendly server/megaserver? Obviously there are times when I just wp and run back, but you learn about that, scaling and so on, as you become a more experienced player.

The system works very well as it is with no rewards for being a kind person, and quite right too, I wouldn’t like to see that change. Just as in RL, you play the game according to the sort of person you are, and your actions speak for you.

I love it I’d love to see some kind of progress in Orr, it seems to have got stuck with all the work being done there just going round and round in circles. I know technically you could say that about almost zone in Tyria, but I really would love to see some signs of regeneration appearing in Orr. Story-wise, lore-wise, it seems to have got a bit neglected.

I like your ideas OP, I hope people will post some more, it makes for very enjoyable reading

I actually wondered if the boss fight dragon was really a giant illusion created by Anise, for the purpose of galvanising the world leaders… a bit like Canach’s philosophy, ie doing bad things for good reasons, which would be interesting given her apparent fascination with him and his motivations

But could an illusion do actual damage though? The Pale Tree Avatar looked pretty damaged to me.

Can anyone help with this, I’m having a problem with the diving goggles in Metrica Province, on the waterfall near Inquest Outer Complex.

The rock they are on is not close enough to the edge of the falls to jump straight from the rock, and if I step or jump off the rock (in any direction) the goggles disappear, so I can’t get the diving achievement.

Is there some knack to this? I can’t work out how to do it :/

To be honest the whole Season 2 storyline has been been spoiler-ed for me by the thread titles themselves – people don’t seem to realise they are explicitly stating what actually happens in the story and then simply putting Spoilers!! next to it

I haven’t done any of the story parts of S2 yet, nor read any ‘spoiler’ threads, but I know exactly what happens just from the thread titles, which are unavoidable. The same happened in S1. Tacking on the word ‘spoiler’ after you’ve just stated specific events from the story does nothing to erase them from the minds of people who haven’t done it yet. It would be great if people could keep the actual spoilers to within the thread itself and be a bit more careful with the title, as it’s the bit every forum user sees whether they want to or not.

Though I would agree with you that it is a gorgeous zone, I would prefer Mord destroys Dredgehaunt myself, now THAT is an ugly map.

I go there all time, mostly mat farming, but sometimes just for a runaround, because it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Really the most beautiful of all the maps I think. Although I must admit that its feeling of serenity is enhanced by there being comparatively few other people there, so I understand the view that it’s under-used.

Short-jumping doesn’t work for me, and believe me I tried it for HOURS lol…

There is a workaround for those of us it doesn’t work for though, I finally managed it by getting the lightning-pull aspect, then aiming back at the start (the outcropping of rock that juts out near the waypoint), where you can overshoot without a problem, then lightning-pulling across to the pillar with the jumping aspect from there

Took me one or two tries to get it right initially, but it works like a charm every time

Yeh me too, it worked once at the 2nd try, then never worked again, in about 60 tries. I am also seeing other people having no problem with it, all I can think is, what are they doing that I’m not?? It’s my only irritation with the new content so far.

When they say Level 80, do they mean your character’s level, or your Personal Story level? They never actually specify which they mean. My main character is level 80, but my PS is only at about level 35 or so, as it’s the most mindnumbingly dull and tedious content I’ve ever come across in any game I have ever played, so I’m unlikely to progress it any further really. Will I need it to be able to access the Living Story episodes?

This is my absolute favourite event, I’m having so much fun with it, so many stupid deaths LOL! I’m delighted it’s staying so long, partly because I’ve got a lot of work on at the mo and it’s hard to find as much time to play as I would like; and partly because my brother’s been in hospital and just got out today, so I’m totally made up that we’ll have time to get cheevos together

I got 5, with loooong periods of lag and rubberbanding in between…had to give up in the end. I was in a party with my guildies, couldn’t even /chat to tell them what was going on, my messages just disappeared, heaven knows if they ended up seeing any of them.

I’ve got pretty poor broadband, so I’m guessing that was the problem; things always go bad when there are too many players, I get the same sort of thing champ farming. Of course slow frame rate doesn’t normally kill you there, like it does when trying to use zephyr skills lol

Yeh it’s virtually invisible, I spent a long time thinking it was actually not working at all, sometimes I barely see it even zoomed out.

Healing rain is also almost invisible – although it has the white circle, almost nothing else is visible, sometimes I can just barely see a bit of a cloud effect if I zoom right out.

I’ve always been surprised – and dismayed – that such a basic ‘first step’ filter is lacking. To begin with I thought I’d been on the stupid pills and just couldn’t see where it was. I can never quite believe it somehow, it’s just such a baffling omission. And annoying. Very, very annoying.

I bought a few gems to bump up what I could get with my gold a couple of times, to buy an armour skin or two and infinite harvesting tools.

My biggest spend of real money was about 18 GBP I spent on a 2000 gem card for my brother for christmas – then when I opened my presents I found he’d bought me one too lol

Don’t think I’ve ever done anything really hard core. But I have a great love of dying stupid deaths, so I’ve jumped (and Fiery Greatsword 3-ed) off a lot of very high places

The first few days of the new system (of only 10 activities) I wasn’t very happy, as they used a few new categories that most PvEers would probably not normally cover and would need to really go out of their way to do. Added to the fact that they had removed Daily Gatherer, it made it quite tricky – and VERY grindy – to complete all 5.

However they seem to have improved the system a lot now; Daily Gatherer is back, not every day but most days, and they have improved the categories so they’re much more PvE-friendly that they were initially after the patch.

So while I would have agreed with the OP when the new-style dailies first came out, they are now much better and I no longer have any grindy issues completing them. I can understand that some people were put off at the start, and maybe still have a very negative view of them as a consequence, but really they are totally back to being PvE-friendly now. (I can even still manage to avoid doing Aquatic Slayer lol). And I am a totally non-fractalling, non dungeon-running die-hard PvEer.

I ordered (and paid for) the GW2 soundtrack about ten months ago, and despite opening a support ticket with DirectSong and repeatedly mailing them through it, I have had no responses from them, no refund and no soundtrack. DirectSong basically stole my money. In the end I have been emailing them actually pleading to just be allowed to download the digital version but still no response. Facebook messages – no response. Twitter – no response. My ticket still just says ‘Payment accepted’ and all later activity on it is just me leaving more messages, nothing from DS customer ‘support’.

It was a lot dearer for me too, the price was 39 GBP, not sure what that is in dollars but probably nearly double the US dollar price. I’ve tried to buy a copy elsewhere but the one – the ONLY one – I saw on ebay just sold for 180GBP, just a tad beyond my humble means lol

I still love the soundtrack, and I still want it, so if anyone knows anywhere I can dl it from please let me know – I have PAID for it already

I felt moved to read and post in this thread as I often get the impression in this forum that I’m the only person left in the world who actually loves GW2 lol… I thought I was the Last Woman Standing

And I actually loved the LS, too. I enjoyed every minute I spent playing every bit of new stuff. I literally waited for the Tuesday updates and sat drumming my fingers and munching M&S pitta snacks* while it downloaded achingly slowly on my rural threadband.

I only really have 2 complaints at the moment – 1. My staff ele fire skill 2 only works intermittently, and 2. There’s no LS/events on at the moment. Personally I’d be very happy with a Bazaar of the Four Winds, even if it was exactly the same as last year’s, since that was probably my most favourite event.

There’s nothing you can do to make him spawn any more. He’s on a specific timetable now, instead of being activated by pre-events.

The boss only spawns when it’s the scheduled time for him to spawn. All the rest of the time, when the boss isn’t ‘due’ because it’s not its scheduled time, the totem event (and Scholar Brogun, and all the other events that used to be pres) does nothing.

Is that confusing? Yes, very. Looks like we’re stuck with it for now though.

I already came to the conclusion that the reset must have been bugged – before reset I had 2/2, a couple more were about two-thirds completed, but I only had the 2/2 fully completed.

Then the reset happened and it said 4/4. But I didn’t have 4/4, as far as I was aware at the time. I knew it must be a bug straight away, just worked out lucky for me, must have been pretty unlucky for some others though.

As to the OP, im thinking also that the 130-160MF range is the best, friend of mine who has 151% base MF got Zap 6 days ago at a random event in Orr, yesterday he got Tooth of Frostfang at the same random event, ( 2 pre cursors in the space of 6 days from mobs, that has got to be in the 1 in millions of chances )

Yes, but does that happen to him every week? Or just that once? If it just happened the one time – or even if it happened a couple of times – then that would be entirely expected for something that is random. So would ‘clusters’, which in this context would be seen as a lucky or unlucky ‘streak’.

The reason people interpret the highest level of MF as not being as lucky is simply because it has plateaued, it’s not increasing any more, and they have become accustomed to the continuous improvement and noticably ‘better luck’ that they experienced all the time their MF was increasing.

I’ve been trying out the new champ schedule, and I can honestly say I’ve never been in so many overflows. Every new zone —> ‘you are in xxxxx overflow’. I thought the whole megaserver thing was supposed to fix that? It’s actually been worse than before.
