Well, I’m having a blast.

There are no straight answers to give…if they’re listed under the ‘Promotions’ tab then it could be as little as 24 hours (as with the feathered angel wings and a few other things), although this is often for an old item that’s been available before and has been brought back for a one-day special.

If there’s something you like I recommend getting it as soon as you’re able to; I’ve missed items before now that I just thought I’d get ‘eventually’, only to have them vanish from the gemstore.

I’m sure there will end up being things that niggle me, but quite honestly it’s going to take an awful lot of niggling to even slightly dent my enthusiasm at this point, lol

Probably Twinspur Haven in Wayfarer Foothills, just because there’s a vendor, armour repairs, crafting stations and therefore bank access, all it’s missing is a mystic toilet and BL tading post, and I don’t need those very often; it has a wp so you can just jump there from anywhere, you don’t have to struggle through mobs or a jp to get there….

…but most importantly of all, you can totally afk there because there are no events, nothing’s gonna appear while you’re in the kitchen putting a quality snack together and kill ya LOL

Umm no, please don’t. It’s one of the best parts of the game. Every time I re-do it I discover something new or something I’d totally forgotten about, it’s fun. If you don’t want to do anything but PvP then fine, just stick to that. But tbh I think if you hate exploration in this game you basically don’t like the game and should try something else.

I love having it run through January, it’s a fun pick-me-up in the post-christmas period which can otherwise be a bit of a downer, especially for us in the UK, where the weather generally turns truly atrocious in January: snow is lovely, but freezing sleet lashed by force 9 gales is more common here on the west coast of Wales! (‘Indoor weather’ we call it here lol )

OT: on the upside, I have two little Shetland ponies which become adorable little balls of shaggy hair and attitude in the winter, always cheers me up Sadly GW2 doesn’t have horses for me to cosplay them up, but they do a fair mini-dolyak impression in their shaggy winter coats, might see if I can rustle up a pile of gifts to give them that Winterday Gift Dolyak look and post a pic over Wintersday haha…

I must admit, this is the bit I’m dreading. It’s odd for us Brits, to us they’re just normal English language words and not shocking in the slightest. In fact some words that Americans think are swear words are simply not at all – e.g. ‘dam’ (minus the ‘n’ to avoid a kittenstrike lol) means ‘curse’ or ‘cursed’ – not even a schoolteacher would consider those swearwords in the UK, especially not an English teacher! Even some of the ‘worse’ swear words are actually very ancient English language words that have many and often surprisingly subtle meanings; I think we have quite a love for those words, there’s often an odd dignity to them and certainly great history and meaning. Sometimes it’s hard to explain to people from ‘younger’ cultures the significance and breadth of meaning of a word that’s maybe two thousand years old! So in a way I think the British are at best bemused by profanity filters, perhaps even by the very concept of profanity, which is seen very differently over here.

There are some British towns that have those words incorporated into their name, people from those places have an epic challenge in forums generally LOL

But as to typing kitten – yes, I do it all the time! a) Because I’m used to US-oriented culture and I understand that they might find offensive words that I might think are quite normal, and b) because I spend WAY too much time in these forums

The solution, of course, is to always be an asura. Everything they say is brilliant. It’s the closest you’re ever gonna get to being a kitten unicorn

I feel a distinct lack of beautiful real-life gw2 illustrated tomes for my bookshelves. I’ve got lots of interesting books in glorious collector’s editions, Tolkien, all the Myst series books, but I’d love some gw2. An in-game collection would be great, but I love rl collectibles even more

I like the idea of buying/collecting stamps with karma, new sets could come out for different maps at various times, could be great fun, especially if you got stamps for/from the specific areas of a map, I can imagine that being good fun

In fact in my personal view, the heart quests are so tedious, especially when you’ve done them over and over on different chars, it could be a brilliant replacement for them (but still counting towards map completion) for players who have already done the heart quest there at least twice

To be honest I hadn’t noticed them be markedly easier, but it’s hard to judge; I was playing Reaper for the first time and having so much fun cleaving down all those elite bosses and feeling godlike, so maybe I’m not in a great position to make good comparisons lol XD

I’m going to start out with detailed and carefully considered plans for Reaper and Tempest, then on arrival squeeeeeeee madly at being in a new zone and spend the entire weekend exploring and gliding and updrafting and accomplish absolutely nothing useful at all XD

I’m afraid complicated arguments about the economy etc. are completely beyond me, lol… but I have a nephew who is just getting to the age where he might like to start playing, maybe with the reasonable restrictions of a F2P account, and I’m really hoping he can join us in our Guild, I can’t wait to have him join me and his Dad in Tyria

So, there are other considerations than just ‘the economy’ for us existing players, the new F2P may bring in people of various ages, for all sorts of reasons.. I’m looking forward to meeting them, anyway

(And I truly hope my nephew will be one of them )

First glitch for Windows 10…

Hunt through your shiny new start menu and select the “Settings” tile, then select “Network and Internet”. Select the “Ethernet” on the menu at the left and then “Change Adapter Settings on the right. This brings up the Network Connections” dialog box (you could just go there direct in the Control Panel if you can find it). Right click on your ethernet adapter (it should show your network or be flashing on and off) and select “Properties”. Click the “Configure” button and select the Advanced tab. Select the “Energy Efficient Ethernet” setting and disable it… problem solved.

I think they cracked it with the hints system they used for the karka hatchling hunt. That was pretty much the perfect system really. I hope they utilise that method for future find-the-thing puzzles.

If I do female human I’m fairly enamored of this look. It would finally be an alt to use some Carapace on. Heck, I might use it on a sylvari, even. I’m interested to see this topic, as I’m currently leveling up my first thief and I’m really struggling with it, as some of the skills and traits don’t seem to work, or don’t do what they’re supposed to anyway. One of the biggest problems I’m having is that things that are supposed to apply vulnerability, don’t apply any, which is making it very difficult to learn any useful rotations or take down mobs by any means other than just 111111111111

I’ve experienced this a lot during boss fights. In fact I’ve often got killed because of it I press the numberkey, the skill icon pulses a couple of times as if it’s going to cast, but then just doesn’t do anything, or go on cd. Sometimes I just end up standing there for ages doing nothing in front of a boss, spamming keys trying to get at least one skill to cast

I now click a skill and wait until I’m absolutely sure it’s not doing anything until I press another, just to minimise any possibility that I’m self-interrupting, which is making for some pretty slow and dull boss fights I don’t know why this is or what’s going on with it. Is it due to lag? Is it ping? Is it something else? I’m not getting any indication that there’s no pathway or anything. This just arrived with the big patch, never had it happen before that.

I have always thought gw2 needed one of these and am quite willing to literally force my money onto them in exchange for one lol

Never bothered with PS because it’s insanely dull and boring. Did the first few levels on my first char (sylvari) but never got any further because it was SOOOOO BORING I literally couldn’t even force myself to do it. Haven’t touched it on any of my other chars. Just ignore it, you don’t have to do it. If they want people to do it they should try making it interesting. I didn’t care the slightest bit about any of the characters because they just behaved like idiots. Right from the very begining they were annoying and made me think, ‘Right, well you just go and kill yourself then if you’re going to be that much of an idiot.’ I stopped ‘helping’ them because they were intent on suicide and too stupid to live. There was absolutely nothing to keep me interested. I don’t know who can possibly have the patience to slog through all that nonsense, it was like swimming through treacle.

Yeh it takes me a good while to get into LA too. I know my broadband isn’t great but LA is the only map that takes this extra-long time to load.

Yep my asura had no lower legs/feet due to camera angle being wrong, also she seemed to be looking downwards rather oddly, so I could really only see the top of her head (and her adorable hair bunches lol)

Me too I love the festivals, lots of fun activities and stuff to collect, sometimes I play the music from them on soundcloud just to put myself in a party mood lol
