It’s a great big weird silly heartwarming ridiculous amazing adventure, and it’s full of people having a blast There’s everything from rainbow unicorns to tales of heartbreaking heroism, worryingly inept asura bomb-disposal experts to unbelievably deadly chickens, cow-flinging machines to secret kittens, and a laboratory in the sky that will make you get very, very cross with gusts of wind

Go everywhere, especially places it looks like you’re probably not supposed to go
Don’t kitten off the moas, and…
When you see a pink circle on the ground, jump in and click F! …don’t forget to tip your Mesmer

I don’t know how many times I’ve killed that kitten giant at Nageling (or been part of his downfall LOL), ‘giant eye’ is still the last empty box in my mats. Le sigh. Honestly, if giants don’t drop them, where do I find them? I’ve checked behind the sofa and under the squeaky floorboard and everything.

Wow. This is just terrible. Asura axe 1 had the best animation in the game – that flying roundhouse was just awesome. And although axe 1 was pretty rubbish dps-wise, it was worth equipping axe because axe 2 can really take chunks out of mobs. In fact in the power build I use for my necro, axe is hard to beat, even thought the autoattack sucked. Since I actually utilise my skills, rather than just mashing 111111111, I could make pretty good use of it.

But to take away that AWESOME animation…wow. Badly done there Anet.

Must be a classic RNG thing – I’ve had 3/4 any number of times lol…in fact it was 1/4 it took me ages to get in the end lol

I finally found a good use for the server switch.

After an event, when everyone will be leaving to go to the next champ and I get the switch pop-up, I run round the nearest decent harvesting area, harvesting mats. All of the mats. Then I click the switch button, and I get to harvest them all over again, and with a speed boost for super efficiency

Actually the rainbow unicorn finisher would have been sublime

Tried it on my Asura and the outfit itself is actually surprisingly cute in pastel colours.

However, as you can see, not only does it have the same brick red “underwear”, which clashes; but also, you can see it even if she’s just standing still!

It’s really not good, at all.

I can live with it on my human, but it’s very dubious looking on my Asura.

Actually, I think your pics have convinced me it looks adorable on female asura, espcially in those lovely pastels! I’m thinking now of how my necro might look as a Disney Princess Mortifactor lol

Yeh, I didn’t get one either…but I did get a reminder of what a fun map SW is. I think I’ve neglected SW and DT far too much in the last few weeks, and I’ve had a lot of fun

I really hate to be a harbinger of doom, but that looks like a graphics card issue. Have you tried downloading the latest drivers for it? What sort of graphics card is it?

44 years old, started off with Pong, then a ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, etc…. My brother – who is now a game dev, and also a GW2 player – is 2 years older than me, so I did pretty well for hand-me-down tech

I think the whole point of the sandstorm phase is that it’s supposed to be hard to see, it’s meant to be a handicap, so I doubt there’ll be any way of switching it off or else everyone would just do that and make that phase easier.

The first time I did Orr was with my ele, she was rather breakable so I soon learnt I had to sneak or sprint and try not to get tagged

Now I’ve got a necro 80 it’s a blast, don’t really have to do much avoiding, apart from one or two champs I can’t take down alone (and those kittening chickens in ML… that way lies madness lol). Got more ghost peppers than I know what to do with now lol

I think Orr really teaches you how to play your class, in a way that other maps don’t so much. You can get away with it in most maps just by being a few levels above the map level – but in Orr you really have to learn your craft

In my experience, SW doesn’t make nearly as much gold as champ farming.

The best gold:time spent is in mat farming in good maps like Sparkfly Fen, Mount Maelstrom, Timberline Falls…forget the foraging and just go for platinum ore+hard wood logs, or iron ore+soft wood logs. Collect as much as you can in the time between the decent ‘big’ champs and sell the lot on the TP (NOT vendors)

Oh dear. I had a suspicion it might be something different. Haven’t seen anyone else post about this particular problem, so it looks like it’s just me Maybe a latency issue.

I farmed in Dry Top and this guy runs toward my mob, kills it and I don’t get contribution. A few seconds later he links beta portal in chat and it was from my mob he looted it. He stole my beta portal! if he hadn’t attacked it I would have been the owner of that portal.

If that guy got a drop from it and you didn’t, then it was his mob, not yours. Sorry to sound unsympathetic, but reality bites.

It’s not just LB for me, I have this problem with all my skills, with all weapons. I click a skill and quite simply nothing happens. The skill icon flashes once, but the skill doesn’t activate, or go on cooldown. The worst time for this is at Karka Queen and Jormag, but it often happens at boss fights generally; very rarely happens when roaming in PvE though. In fact last night when doing KQ I barely managed to get any shots to work at all, it was so bad, I was clicking like mad on my well of corruption and it just wouldn’t do anything, and none of my targeted skills would activate either. I then had the same problem later on in Silverwastes too, although again that was very busy, for obvious reasons lol

This problem just started suddenly after the April 14th update. I don’t know if it is the same thing you guys are experiencing, but it sounds pretty much the same thing.

It should be contained in an in-game email message, have you checked your messages? It should be at the bottom of the message where it says ‘Take All’. Clicking on that will transfer it to your inventory, so check there too

I’ll second this request, it’s somewhat annoying and I have no clue how to get rid of it.

Yeh, that’s right, I think I’m thinking of the upgrade extractor.

Have you transmuted them, ie combined the Adventurer’s Spectacles with a headpiece with Cleric’s stats? That would give you that title. ’Cleric’s’ refers to the particular stats (Healing, Power, and Toughness).

Once transmuted it becomes Soulbound, meaning you can’t use it on any other character than the one whose headpiece you did the transmutation on.

In order to ‘undo’ the transmutation, you need a Transmutation Splitter which you can get from the Gem Store. However the Adventurer’s Spectacles skin should be unlocked in your Wardrobe, so you should still be able to apply that look to other headpieces. It’s all a bit confusing (even to me lol), so feel free to ask questions

I haven’t made any male chars yet, one of the main reasons is the lack of attractive male armour – why are Battle Bikinis so ubiquitous for female chars but somehow not really acceptable for males? I dislike the lack of butterflies on the male carapace armour too Even more criminal that my poor female asura doesn’t get them either because of this

All my chars are level 80s and people still do cool stuff like that for me… and in turn I try to do that for other people too

There are some awesome jumping puzzles in gw2, hope you have as much fun with them as I do

But I play like a happy idiot I run up to the top of high things and jump off (I do this A LOT lol), I run up to people and help them with stuff, find stupid places to dance, go galloping off after skritt burglars, rush up to bosses in the champ train to see how close I can get (it’s like poking ‘em with a stick ), I never use a mic because I’d drive people mad shouting ‘Banzaaaaiiiiiiii!!!!’ all the time, I unequip my armour and do Nekkid Killing Things, jump into mesmer portals, play with toys, sit and listen to people playing instruments, get a laugh out of map chat (why on earth do people not like it), go visit the top brass in the cities and jump around all over their desks and furniture (disgraceful, you’d never believe I’m a commander ), I climb up mountains in Timberline Falls and slide down them on my kitten, throw snowballs with the kids in Wayfarer Foothills, rush into stupid champ fights I can’t hope to win…and then pull a Brave Brave Sir Robin and see if I can outrun them lol… I keep on trying to climb down the outside of Rata Sum AND ONE DAY I WILL DEFINITELY TOTALLY DO IT, I trot happily round wvw maps on my own, leaping out at enemy scouts and shouting ‘BOO!’ and then running off (if I make it, lol), and I will rez anyone, anywhere, even if I have to go out of my way to do it.. in fact my ele is traited to hit people with a kitten-ton of buffs when i rez ’em I collect everything, have a go at everything (how on earth did I get to be Deer Commander?), get myself into every nook and cranny, jump up, drop down, die stupid deaths, and have a ball

One day, they’ll bring out a toy that’s a pair of clippy-cloppy coconut halves that you can gallop around with, AND THEN MY LIFE WILL BE COMPLETE lol

I got my full exotic zerker gear transmuted to cultural T3 Sylvari armor with the darkest of dyes, combined with toxic shoulders and gloves and black feather wings.
I feel awsome, and look awsome whenever i play him. And spamming 1 in DS on a tanky butt warrior cosntantly hcritting 4-5K through all dat toughness feels amazing.

Just a word on meta builds for necros,

I have zerker with scholar runes and also rampagers with scholar runes – the rampager’s actually does far more damage than the zerker for my necro, I find. I swap them every so often and quite honestly I’m really surprised at the difference in dps. Given this, I’m not quite clear why some always insist zerker gear is the meta for all classes. I once saw someone say that ‘rampager is the zerker of condition classes’, and I think that may be true.

Back on topic,

Once you’re an 80, skipping through maps becomes a lot more fun because as an 80 necro, almost nothing can kill you really, not even multiple mobs (yay for death shroud 4 and 5). So farming for high-end mats suddenly becomes easy and fun, if you do artificing it’ll save you a ton of money, if you sell them they’ll make you a ton of money, it’s a win/win. World bosses and champs are also a pretty easy and fun way to make gold/mats

I make about 5-10 gold per night doing the champ train, and I only do the few that I like the best. There are several events that go in a sequence close together, Karka Queen, then Mark II Golem, then Maw, I usually just do them and maybe Fire Ele. I sell everything yellow or orange and recycle the greens and blues for mats, and that makes me about 6-8 gold, then sometimes if I’m not busy with other stuff I go farming for iron, platinum, hard wood, soft wood, and of course any ori or ancient wood; half an hour or so in Timberline Falls, Mount Maelstrom, Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Sparkfly Fen, etc can net you a LOT of valuable mats

Plus to be honest it’s actually kinda nice to have an excuse to roam around those maps. No point not enjoying yourself

Most classes have a trait you can select that will give you 25% speed increase. I use one on my necro, you can always swap it out for a different trait when you need to.

Once your char is level 80, most PvE is not so challenging that you can’t afford to ‘waste’ a trait on speed increase, I rarely need to swap mine out for something else in PvE. And watching my little asura zip along at that speed is very addictive lol
