This the first update for a long time, where running in a circle pressing 1 doesn`t seem to be the most profitable Option.
Maybe it’s me but there is no ‘profitable’ action in this update.
To me, there is no real loot (as I’ve done the past living story and go the rewards and already took part in the same event last year). This is mainly for the people who missed out on past living story rewards.
I was using up my 90+ tickets from last year and got around 100ish gauntlet chances bag, only got 1 ticket of the pavilion. Not worth doing really (I just wanted to use up the tickets).
Loot is a key part of the MMORPG genre.
Well the point of the game is to make people spend money on gems to convert into gold. If the items were cheap enough to buy several with the gold you played for, they wouldnt get your money. I’m really not sure what you were expecting.

You’re not forced to choose only one reward. You don’t deserve it since you don’t have the token.

The price is low enough to indicate the drop chance is reasonable. what is considered “low price”? because I’m not sure if you realised or not but you need BOTH of the PAVILION and BAZAAR tickets to make the FESTIVAL ticket. At the moment placing buy orders is around 15g+8g. That’s 23g for the ticket to buy a skin (not counting additional gold for the different skin).
Once again newer players get the short stick.
And we’re only considering one weapon skin. Multiple that by a few other skins you want and that can easily be 100g+

The weapon skins requiring the rare ‘Favor of the Festival’ seems to be overkill, it should be changed to ‘Festival Tokens + Gold’ or a single ‘Favor of the Festival’, NOT both.
With how you acquire the ‘Favor of the _’ tickets that are rare, you can barely afford them, as you really have the option of using your freebie ‘Favor of the Festival’ from your meta achievement, after that, you’re unlikely to get another due to the RNG and high cost (TP).
I have two accounts one EU and one NA, I use one for spvp and the other to PVE with friends, Is there a way that I can run both these accounts at once so I can PVE while I wait on matches for Spvp.
Is no one going to point out that you can already do that now? You go in PvE open your PvP and can queue for matches. Or instantly join hotjoin games. This is just a little absurd to be considering your spvp downtime of waiting.
If its a feature of your hardware, and not a macro program, I doubt there’s much protest that can be made because its not “use of third party software”.
But you’d need an official response from a developer to know for sure.
Just to point out, the macro functions are software features AND they ARE third party programs, they aren’t part of whatever it is you may be using. Let’s say you play a game, you want to listen to some music, you open up iTunes or such; that is a 3rd party program, you aren’t to music from the game. Or you want to clean up your computer, so you install some anti-virus software like McAffee/AVG/etc, those are 3rd party programs.
I don’t think you’re familiar with the terminology of 3rd party programs.

It’s phrased in a way that implies that you may not be able to use such functions as part of the game. It’s merely available to you. In a blow out analogy it would be like if they included a gun, so you can go kill people if you want. You don’t need to, but if you feel like it, the option is available to you.

The sheer amount of bugs gained the spotlight for this living story. If you asked me what I recalled of this patch down the line, it would be a response with about the bugs and not the experience of the content.
The increased toughness that the knights gained from the patch is what really messed things up. Forcing people to split and now doing much less damage increased the difficulty tenfolds.
Not even sure if the scaling bug was acknowledged or fixed.

It’s simply scaled badly. They should realise about 70% (random figures wooo) of the pve player base are terrible players and you can’t expect them to do coordinated things. Can’t expect the 30% to carry the other 70% to do events.
With the “updates” I feel that fewer people are going to even manage to get to the scarlet phase.
Hey now, don’t be lke this my friends and don’t talk about DPS race.
Take a second and think about this :
- the goal of the event is to kill 3 bosses.
You forgot the important part. the time limit attached to it. And the even shorter time limit for the 6min achievement. I’m pretty sure that’s what a DPS race is.

This living story was riddled with bugs and was messy which was saddening for their finale.
Knights
Need to kill 3 legendary bosses in 6 minutes.
The scaling is bugged sometimes one or two of them don’t scale and die 20 seconds and the others are super scaled.
Loot drops from the knights were confusing and no one understood if it was daily or bugged until days later when they saw that no drops were happening after daily resets. To make it even worse Anet were completely silent throughout this, forums were swamped with questions and there was 0 responses.
Patched now so the knights have 50 player participant limits, which should have been there in the first place because it wasn’t thought of the first place, players came up with the zerg tactics which brought more overall success. Now they have changed it which means people have to adjust to this, unfortunately you get players who simply aren’t aware of the change and still play the old tactics without realising. 50 people have buff, but more people come? scales the boss more won’kitten which then ends up with players being frustrated that non damage contributing players are now contributing to the scaling.
With the patched updated it’s now harder to take down the bosses. 50 player limit on each boss? good luck getting 40 on each boss. You’ll maybe fill out on one boss and have 20 on the other and 10 on the last. To make it worse, it seems that either they patched in or bugged to make the nights tougher, they take less damage even with the colour buff.
Which means more fail, but it’s ok we still get loot! Nope. Only the ones who managed to kill the knights get rewards, the players who didn’t have enough at their knight get nothing.
Scarlet
Achievements were able to be obtained by afking. Which ended up with masses of players afking.
Portal in at the start and you had the chance to get stuck and if you jumped you got stuck in mid air which you could not break out of unless you got killed or knocked back from the laser attacks.
They already fixed the portal in and landing on an instant laser attack but that was still a disaster pre-patch.
So many horrible things happened in this living story.
For me personally the worst part was the complete and utter silence in the first 2 days where they responded to nothing. On Living Story release day! No acknowledgement of what was being listed down as issues.
I’m not sure if they released the Living Story before it was quitting time (work) but I’d expect there to be a team or something that is there to get the instant feedback after releasing the Living Story update to simply be able to point out things like “No the knight drops aren’t daily” “That looks like it’s bug, shouldn’t be happening.”…

The worst thing about DPS tests like these are that it’s not solo based on your own DPS, it’s on OTHERS which means you’re going to be looking at other people for failing situations.

It just create a destructive environment in an open world. If you could choose your teammates, I’d understand as you’d be able to communicate and prep before hand, but in this openworld stuff with random people…
What a horrible poo storm this update turned out to be.
looking at a random ascended item, the crystal is 1/4 of the piece, but all the other pieces have materials that likely cost more than the crystal.
Are you talking about the Lesser Vision Crystal the crafting material? to be honest that barely costs anything http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lesser_Vision_Crystal.
If you are hoping for ascended gear from this, you’ve still got a lot of gold to spend, this ascended material was like a drop in the ocean.

It should have been obvious from the start that there should have been some kind of small reward you could have gotten from rescuing citizens (not counting the tiered saved rewards or end reward). It had to be implemented from the start if Anet were really trying to combat against the “zerg” mentality and gameplay that has plagued GW2.

I thought we covered it last time in Scarlet’s Invasion with the map invasion participation that this was a terrible idea.
This achievement “Please Follow Me to the Exit” has 6 objectives that you need to complete before you get the achievement. Similiar to the Scarlet Invasion map participation, you could take part in something, get 1/6 then do the next day and completely forget what you’ve already sucessfully participated in.
Starting off it won’t be that bad. But later one once you are on 4/6 and have lost track, you will be wasting quite a bit of time trying to figure out which one of the objectives you didn’t successfully take part in.
It should have just been spread out into mini achievements for 1 point each instead.
Is anyone elses inventory window resetting it’s size every now and then?
I think someone needs to be reminded of how many people play. A map can hold 80-120 people or something, a populated server has 1000’s of players.
It’s not just people wanting to guest over to get a wurm kill, it’s everyone on your server (Deso) who is now trying to get in on the map since they announced they had beat it.
Or did you think only 50 people from your highly populated server only wanted to attempt the wurm?
I’m sure this is done on intention to give that message “This affects all of you, don’t want to die? you should help out.”
I feel that you may need the summon items for the extra DPS. Which also feels slightly tied to how they were nerfed in preparation for this patch. So you can’t spam them over and over and you are left with only one chance at using them since they have a 30min cooldown and the wurm events are 15min+
I bet if the summon items weren’t nerfed, the DPS part wouldn’t be as bad and a few groups would have done it by now.
I’m pretty sure it’s similiar to WvW, as they are trying to tie in WvW elements in PvE to make transition easier.
Anyway, the golem health and stats are based on your own. Looking at your pic, you have aegis and I’ll assume you are a guardian. Guardians base health is on the lowest tier and I’ll assume you are using gear that doesn’t provide any vitality.
Now if you were a warrior or so with soldier gear that adds vitality, high base health + bonus vit stats would increase your health now scaled the stats while in golem you would have more health due to your personal stats.
The meta achievements for a while now won’t be completed from their own category they need the “extra” points from the LS themed dailies.
As title says, I’m looking for a guild that does their guild missions in the afternoon as I work evenings. Pretty much every guild I’ve seen does them primarily in the evenings 6pm+ (GMT) or so in the EU.
I’m sure there must be a guild out there that does them in the afternoons.

Proper griefing would be getting a snowball so you get the debuff (affected by other snowballs) and just stand infront of the vet skritt and absorb all the players snowballs that are trying to kill the vet and being a human shield for the skritt. That is griefing.
Actually it’s not an oversight, they explained when they released it that the Living Story part would already have large amount of players being available to those around them, as usually with LS release, there is an abundance of players to party with.
The living story section was believed that there were enough people to do it with on your own server.
The worst part I hate about the dredge fractal is pretty much the start of it. If you can’t get past the first part, you’ve wasted your time.
I just find it quite ridiculous, you have the stay on the panels and ABSORB the hits that fly your way. You only have so many blocks, reflects, invuls available to you. After those are gone, you’re gonna melt.
I don’t even know how some classes are meant to survive those attacks like ranger, or such. The worst part is when you are on one of the panels and there are about 4 ranged dredges all blasting into you, you can only only reflect so much.
Not to mention this beginning section of the dredge fractal is somewhat highly focused on that idea that you should have the right classes to proceed the first part, so in a random pug group, you might not get the best class set up in your group.
This part is probably the main thing out of all of the fractals that annoys me, where you need perfection and that is something you never expect in a pug group.
Wow, just got on to check the release and I didn’t think I could be more disappointed. I was thinking it would be a stack of 5 each or something at least. Turns out it’s just 1 of each…awesome reward.
Even if you have no plans to get Ascended gear, just stick them in your collectibles and forget about them.
I play enough of the other activities like WvW, world bosses, dungeons and continuously get ascended mats. Worse part is that they can’t even be vendored.
Yea it is a joke, a funny sad one. To be honest, a leaderboard idea on fractals was just stupid to begin with. The way that it’s done just seems kinda lazy too.
I read dulfy’s post that listed some stuff she heard/saw from the stream and one of the points were
Meta achievement for Living World release will reward a horde of Ascended materials (bloodstone brick, dragonite ingot, empyreal star).
Wow, meta achievement is just a bunch of ascended materials…this can’t be true can it? bloods come in plenty from champ boxes, dragonite from wvw and world bosses, emp from dungeons. Not especially difficult to get but…for people who simply can’t be bothered with the ascended gear grind, the meta reward is totally useless.
I hope something else turns up on when it is released… :/
I just think the OP wants everyone to start at level 1 so he has more people he can pug with and get carried.

You guys don’t understand.. starting out at square one with nothing… I have to get to level 30 this week or I’ll be behind my friends and we won’t be able to play together? I thought I could play how I want?
You could join their fractal level and leech of them. Then again it’s your own issue. YOU chose not to play fractals. Why did you never join your “friends” in the first place to get some experience? Seems this is a simple “your problem”.
Also I don’t understand this “compete” thing you are talking about. Are you talking about leaderboards? if this is going to work similiar to how GW1 did some leaderboard stuff, it was simply taken over by a few people when based on time laps.
If this is like GW2 achievement point leaderboard. It’s capped at a certain point, also forgetting to mention, it’s stupid and pointless.

1. I was wondering how the daily chest will work, currently you can get a daily chest for 10’s 20’s 30’s (etc) and it is character based. So you can do a daily 20 on one character and another essentially get 2 daily 20’s. Will this remain or will it become account bound, since the reward progression is somewhat becoming more account based.
2a. Also to clarify about: "You will be able to receive a special daily chest for finishing a boss fractal once per day. "
Is this regarding the end fractal run, or is this applying to any fractal level considering every fractal round has a boss in it.
2b.. Also this “This boss chest will also have a chance at containing a number of other rare rewards. As your fractal level increases, so do the odds of obtaining these items:” if this is referring to the daily chest it really should be reworded as it is making me think it means “boss chest”, the chest that spawns after a boss dies on every fractal round, which makes it sound like that you can have a 3-4 chances of receiving special fractal rewards in a full run.
Is this working as intended? Since the event is over, I still had it in my inventory, decided to randomly try to pop it out in Lion’s Arch and it just vanished as you would consume something.
Is this meant to happen? I thought we would be able to keep it forever like all the past items.
This achievement was locked into the “second run attempts” simply to try to encourage people to do it over and over, and most likely with OTHER players. Instead of doing it once and never doing it again. Also the hybrid killer follows the same path.
I entered one, internet starts getting faulty and cutting off, I disconnect. Return and the entrance is sealed.
Wait around for it to reopen(hope overflows) and can’t enter because there is the timer icon on it.
Making it frustrating to do as it is also linked with achievements to complete the chambers…
edit: had to work around it by JOINING somones party who could do it and join in their instance.

It was pretty easy. I had to solo it for the achievement where no one dies because newbies in the party died.
Also it’s final phase? It does some double dagger flailing attack. That is just funny, it barely hits but it just looks like it is spazzing out “KyahHh AHH DON’T HIT ME!” * flails arms about like a sissy *
Maybe I’ll be able to afk them in the overflow map and gain wxp one day!
That’s silly, why would you want to do that when that WxP could be going to your main :o

I like how Anet used to talk about server pride and such during the early days but with how the league works, essentially it kills T1 servers communities by forcing them to leave for another server just to be able to play WvW again.
And with the league this will most likely just be a continuous repeat that will occur over and over for whoever becomes the new T1 servers.
Anet: “Reached max WvW rank on your character and it only took you 4 years? congratulations! Don’t know what to do? Guess what? You can now play on another character which adds re-playability value and work on that WvW rank again! That is ANOTHER 4 years worth of gaming! No need to thank us :] "
You might want to think to move to Bronze league then. Here skills matter and its still active. We have groups from 5 to 60 running around but no queues. No coverage war. No lag
Some servers are getting transfers back from Gold/Silver.

I find it silly that the league is essentially killing off some of the T1 servers because of the increased flux of new players going to WvW as well as hopping onto T1 servers thinking that it will be a guaranteed win.
Some of those T1 server communities end up being broken up because people are essentially forced to leave the server because they can no longer play WvW anymore.
