Why dont we all just get out of T2, and let the Coverage wars rule there.

T3 is where all the fun is at. It already has some of the best matchup variation amongst the servers, and we’re very close to a 6-server rotation in T3. Dont condense everyone into T2, that was a bad idea from the get-go. ANY one of these servers could house a zergbusting and GvG guild quite comfortably, and you’ll get NEW baddies to fight every week if we stack into the T4 servers listed.

CD: T3
DB: T2 which fairweathers itself into T3
YB: T3
SBI: T3.75
DR: T4
IoJ: T4

I’m sure people can attest, T3 is a great zone at the moment. There’s no one who is Super over-stacked, everyone has their coverage weak zones and NA primetime is incredible.

IF DR gets some night-owls and Oceanics, they’ll be a solid contender in T3.
If IoJ gets some NA prime people they’ll be a solid contender in T3.
IF SBI recovers from bannok leaving, they’ll go back to being a stable, solid contender in T3.

Imagine for a moment that you didnt KNOW who you were gonna get at reset. wouldnt that be grand?!

Siege Disabler. needs nerf or remove please!

Change the siege disabler so that it cannot be deployed on rams from the inside of a tower/keep/stonemist, and we have a balanced tool.

At the moment, there’s no risk associated with deploying the disabler. Just get into the tower and throw it against the gate, and you have bought time. IMO that’s a bit too strong. I’m on a consistently outnumbered server, (only T4 server in a world of T3s) and for every time that I’ve been attacking a tower with a larger force, I’ve been stopped by a larger force with siege disablers three to five times.

I run squads of 15, I dont really have the extra people to assign reflect rotations for the entire 2-3 minutes that it takes to ram down a reinforced gate (uninterrupted with 2 superior rams). Realistically the only thing that works to reflect a siege disabler on a gate (when they’re thrown from behind) is Swirling Winds, the 4 skill on Elementalist focus. Were I to go through the trouble of asking my guild to run S/F elementalists for this purpose, I would need to allocate 1/3 of my force to S/F (6 second swirling winds, 30 second cooldown), and their timing with the swirling wind would need to perfect. Let’s not forget that my zerg is now essentially rallybait with 0 sustain, because we have 5 S/F Eles!

TLDR: Change the siege disabler so that it cannot be deployed on rams from the inside of a tower/keep/stonemist, and we have a balanced tool. I have no problem with it being deployed from on top of the wall, or existing, as long as you cant disable through the door.

edit: could be D/F eles too. No need to h8 on daggers m8

Pre-patch, Maxed out Mortar Masters were able to target with the barrage shot, and then leave the mortar to turn itself and launch the barrage.

If a master tries to do this now, the mortar will bug until they get on it for the whole length of the turning and firing of the barrage shot.

WvW is like the old game of Go.

You want to conquer and hold as much territory as possible.
Each objective is worth a set number of points, and score is calculated at the end of every 15 minutes.

Your score accumulates over the week. (This is why WvW is a Coverage game, by coverage i mean having available players in each part of the world, being North America, Australia, Asia, and Europe)

If you win – Nothing happens. You gain a small fraction of a global world buff, which you can see in the WvW panel.

If you loose – Nothing happens. You do not gain the small global world buff.

The Servers you are matched against are decided by Glicko Rating, which is a numeric value assigned to the server based on your performance in WvW. If you want to fight new servers, you need to manipulate your glicko rating through performance.

IF there is no commander, you should talk to the map in /m or /t. Ask who is around, what people are doing. Commanders are not required for success in WvW, and often guilds will be operating on a map without a commander being present.

WvW is open to a variety of different play styles, from Roaming alone or in small groups (less than 5) taking small objectives like camps, mercenaries and possibly towers. Your normal roamer is using a burst, high damage build or condition build. These folks flip your world’s camps and kill stragglers who stray too far from the comfort of the zerg.

There’s also zerging, which is any party of players larger than 10-12. Normally these are led by a commander ( Commanders don’t always run with a commander tag, so be ready to follow someone with a Ctrl+ T) They will have a balance of high damage builds(normally light armor classes) and full support builds (on heavily armored classes) and they take larger structures, like keeps and Stonemist Castle.

If there is no commander, again, ask in the map and in /t.

If you can’t find friends, try to fight an enemy supply camp and flip it. Kill the scouts first (kittens aoe and projectile blind) and then dealing with the rest of the guards will be easy.

Not sure what community you’re in, so I cant give you more specific advice.

They did it this way to get more consistent participation from people. They want folks to go hard all 4 weeks of the tournament, so they gave incentive for people to want to place first each week. They also would tend to hope that you read their announcements. I’d recommend submitting a support ticket and hoping that they’re kind.

There’s currently a lot of variation in WvW zergs. Many mesmers have been choosing 4/4/6/0/0 Power PU builds (conditions are cleared too fast in zergs to be effective) or shatter variations like 2/6/0/06 with triumphant distortion in like in the video below.

I always recommend the shatter road, you can go zerker/assasins and still be able to survive if your timing is good with your F4 and sword 2.

I don’t think Defense Against Guards or Guard Killer are worth spending any points in, unless you can max them out (but if you can max them out they are definitely worth it). so rely on the opportunity that WvW tournaments provide, to spend points in lines that give more of an immediate benefit, then trade those points in later for maxed out Defense Against Guards and/or Guard Killer.

Build master level 1 and Supply mastery level 4 should be everyone’s first 11 points. The immediate returns of increased supply for your team and faster building are far more valuable than a very slight increase to your personal damage to (or reduction from) NPC guards (unless all you do is solo camps on uninhabited maps).

Guard killer/defense lines are only useful at their 115 point max trait. Not sure why people recommend starting with them since you won’t see a tangible benefit for 100-200 hours of gameplay. Even without a point reset, delaying +250vit/100pwr&cnd for 10-20 hours of gameplay isn’t going to ruin the fun of the game. Those lines are “the best” but only when maxed.

Agree with this 100%. I’d even throw in Repair Master after AC master 1 or 2.

By then you’ll have a better idea of what you like to do.

The guard masteries take a long time to get. But once you get close and the next reset happens, get ’em.

If you have only a few WxP points to spend, I’d put them into build mastery, AC mastery and Ballista/Ram Mastery.

once you have the points to get closer to your guard stacks, go get them, but dont bang your head against a wall trying to get stacks, when you could be MORE USEFUL to your server with actual masteries

I agree with many of these ideas, If success in WvW gave server-wide buffs, even in PvE, we would probably see a lot more participation.

as it stands, there’s no real benefit to success in WvW, except for the “world buffs” which are hardly noticeable.

so Anet, there is incentive to do world bosses dungeons and fractals, there is incentive to do PvP (reward tracks), what do we get in WvW besides the joy of slaughtering the hordes of the enemy? basically kitten loot.

Another idea which might be good would be to scale the capture a structure reward based on how upgraded it is. 1 embroidered belt pouch for a paper tower. 2 for reinforced, 3 for fortified.

a fully upgraded and WPed Stonemist could drop 5 embroidered belt pouches, which would put it almost on par with the Karka Queen in terms of the reward. It’s also a lot harder to take a fully upgraded and WPed stonemist than it is to kill the Karka Queen.

Here is a 4v5 victory in SoloQ with this build

The build has incredible sustain and if you’re careful it will take 2-3 people to burst you down at once. I’ve survived 3v1s on a point with this set up.

The nice thing is that you have a variety of tools to handle whatever comes your way. If you run into a bunker who just swallows condis and farts condi clears, you work with your device kit and rifle to smack them around with power based damage. If you run into a tank who has near infinite toughness, but doesnt seem to pack too many condi clears, you can keep them at range with the elixer gun and kite them around with the bombs.

Harassing a ranged enemy is easy with the elixer gun and rifle, It really depends on whether you want to scare them with conditions (use elixer gun) or straight damage and cc from range (rifle). In a Melee setting, the bombs are excellent, they heal you and the healing keeps you alive vs zerker warriors and other melee class builds.

Personally, I switch between Shatter, and Interrupt Builds (shatter 0/4/4/0/6) and (Interrupt 2/4/6/2/0) but, it would be a good idea for you to learn how shatter works. It IS the class mechanic after all!

I agree on the class, just for completely different reasons. Looking at that video I never felt like he does more APM than I’d do on any class in a PvP-setting. Due to the global cooldown you can only perform a certain level of APM, it caps out there. Not sure of the exact number. And this is fairly constant across classes, with some being minimally higher and others being minimally lower.

But what puts Engineers to the top is the insane amount of carpal tunnel inducing button hammering the Grenade Kit puts upon you compared to any other weapon ingame.

i disagree, that grenades are mechanically intensive. You’re literally just spamming buttons and killing your wrist inside. It’s not actually intense, just physically painful.

when someone says Mechanically, i think that refers to them using the combat mechanics of Gw2, which means utilizing combo fields and finishers, dodges and evades and blocks very well. APM is not really relevant, since skills have cooldowns. This isnt Starcraft, where APM actually matters.

I think engineers are mechanically intensive because they have access to almost every field and have the finishers to make use of them.

I’d suggest that only 2 and 4 are needed.

A telegraph, or a casting time would be good enough. as long as we have about 1/2 a second to react to the incoming rapid fire, that would allow for some counterplay, as opposed to a completely REACTIONARY response which we have now, being reflect or dodge.

People would still complain about it, because “OMG 1500 RANGE EVEN IF IT HAS A TELL SIGN ITS 562% IMPOSSIBLE TO DODGE AND REFLECTS HAVE 200s COOLDOWNS AND THEN HE JUST STEALTH AND POINT BLANK SHOT ME BACK TO THE MOON!”

Something to that effect I presume…

whatcha gonna do tho. noobs gonna cry.

at the moment though, all the counterplay to rapidfire is reactionary, and isnt actually countering it.

Server being full has nothing to do with WvW. It’s EVERYONE. It has more to do with allocating server resources than anything else.

Tie any rewards for WvW, including Karma, coin and loot drops to the server population balance at any given moment, a modifier to multiply your chances. To maximize reward you will want to play during non-peak times or against a force larger then yours. Once the large, highly populated servers realize that they get more bang for the buck on the lower populated servers they will move. Over time it will all balance out. No need to change population caps.

Now that’s a decent idea

What may work with the Portal Exit is:

give it an AOE ring like an elementalist that stays at your feet. When it’s green, you’re within range and you can open your portal without it failing. When the aoe ring at your feet turns red, you are out of range, and your portal will fail.

If you decoy/veil and use your Blink skill, it should VISUALLY reveal you on your screen, but not that of other players until the concealed in shadow or stealth buff wears off.

Another way to do it is to do a Phase Retreat through a Blinding Powder, or smoke bomb. You don’t visually stealth, but you have the buff.

Personally, I dont think you need the traits in Inspiration, and If you want to be useful in Zerging, you should probably not be trying to run a phantasm build, as your phantasms will exist for a single cast of thier skill before they’re dead from AOE and cleaving.

I’ve never needed to trait into inspiration to kill rangers, and it seems like you are putting a lot of trait eggs into your phantasms and focus.

What confuses me is that your traiting includes the buff to phantasms, but you have 0 points in dueling, so you don’t capitalize on Phantasmal Fury, which really is what takes phantasm damage up the next level.

You’ve got a very high damage, very tanky mesmer here. If you tried a 0/2/6/0/6 build, with either Imbued Diversion (F3 shatter hits 5 people per clone) or Illusionary Persona (allows you to shatter yourself for an instant interrupt) you could open up your options to include a few more interrupts.

If it were me, i would run a pistol instead of a focus. Focus tends to be more situational, and although its fun to pull 5 people, it’s almost impossible to actually get an interrupt in there as well. Pistol gives you a little more access to stuns and CC/Daze to work with your BI/CI. A tad easier to control IMO.

In short, Yes there is a time when blackgate isnt full. However, It is quite difficult for a regular like ourselves to be in the world select screen when they do a server blackout to get people in.

IF you dont know what i’m talking about, a server blackout is when everyone in Teamspeak/mumble/raidcall logs out of Gw2 at the same time in order to temporarily open up slots. Normally to let another guild onto the server.

The problem with the system, is that there REALLY ARE huge population differences between tiers T5 servers can’t hope to stand up to T3, the same way that T8 servers cant face up to T6.

I’ve been using the F4 Masterful Reflection on my mesmer, and Daggerstorm, to great effect against rangers.

Many rangers have been very eager to rapid fire my teef, but they dont see the daggerstorm+infiltrator signet until they’ve taken, on average about 5k damage. I’ve only ever run into a small minority of rangers who actually cancel the rapid fire or stow the LB.

As mentioned above, in a 1v1 situation, i think that rangers have more ability to compete, but in group situations, they’re the first targeted because they’re STILL easy bags, not because they’re the new necromancer. Many of these LB guys freak out once you close the gap on them, and the ranger GS attacks are very easy to dodge due to their massive telegraphs.

Now, this is not to say that they dont have their purpose. A group of three rangers in VoIP coordinating cripples and damage and knockbacks would be a pain in the kitten, but still not nearly the pain in the kitten of a pair of Dire/Rabid engineers who know what combo fields are.

I think the rangers are in a better place, but not where they need to be for their group utility to take off.
