Here’s the build that I use roaming in WvW -
with full stacks and the might that i get from Mirror blade – my burst hits you while i have 2800 power. Tormenting sigil is there to make people panic a little bit and force a condition cleanse . It doesn’t do much unless you have full might stacks, but if you can force their cleanse before your shatter lands, you’re in good shape.
with all 3 clones +IP I’ve landed 15k mindwracks(very lucky for all 4 shatters to critical), followed by dodge and F2 F3, can insta kill a surprisingly large number of things.
I’d love to see the data on a 4/3/6/0/1 build for medi guardian. For me, I dont really like playing without the ability to kite, so the scepter is a must have for me. I’d love to see some hard data on it though.
Here’s the build in an editor http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAR7dlsApaodDxcI8DRR8gkjdjqMwkr/FMHA-TVTDAB9oMjiDCwEPAgZUDxHlGHcEASQJ4LqeQiOAQ0Mwz+DAY+T6LAApAeaZE-w
I’m just going to nit-pick here, but i think you mean the skill FLOOR, not ceiling. The ceiling being too high would mean that even the best players in teh world wouldnt be able to play the class to its potential.
However, the skill floor being too high – would mean that it’s too hard to play the class effectively unless you’re very good with it.

The expected people to want to fight, and not play pvd all night.
HAH! how wrong you are. Should I introduce you to my friend, PPT?
Sorry but that is not true, why did they create EU and US servers then?
they created NA and EU servers because even though signals travel at the speed of light – getting signals from Europe, to a datacenter in Texas, and back to Europe would make for almost unplayable lag. They have datacenters in Europe to process information for EU servers, which speeds things up for those players. THAT is why the have regional servers, not because they want all the americans playing together and all the Europeans playing together. It’s a purely technical decision, driven by the limitations of technology today.
1st rule of WvW:
Coverage wins WvW.
get over it. just because there are people elsewhere that play when you do not, does not mean that it’s too strong, or that they should be penalized for playing the game.
I’d suggest either playing with a bunker who can cleanse for you, or running around them.
Top EU gvg team comes to NA to show us how its done, gets rekt, /gdisbands soon after.
GvG guilds are somewhat irrelevant to a discussion about servers…. and the TA players had 200+ms of ping in those GvGs and you can see them rubberbanding in the videos, much like how EP had similar ping levels when they went to EU. When NA went to EU they got rekt, when EU came to NA, they got rekt.
and the top .01% of american players DO NOT represent the majority of people in WvW
just sayin…
Still alive and kicking – Recruitment is high for warriors! Extra high if you have a microphone!
bump – problem persists, still can’t tell if i’m running through wells or chill fields, marks or what have you
I’m also of the opinion that NA would get utterly REKT.
because the attitude of players on EU is so much more oriented around combat and not slinking around trying to find an abandoned wall to cata.
I’ve seen people make the hammer work in 1v1 or 1v2s…. but thats about it
its funny how many ka ppl come here and say they dont upgrade, yet every morning they have all keeps and garri’s in all maps fortified and wp’d. and then they say ka doesnt defend, yet they sit 30ppl in smc all day.
plz dont take cheap shots at guilds in this thread, this is not the place for it. If you want to QQ about someone, go here http://www.gw2wvw.net/
Going to bump this as this issue is still present, and making life difficult for WvWders.
Please have a look at this game footage and you’ll see – some fields do render – others dont render at all. Some fields will render and then dissapear (lava fonts most of the time)
I recommend you go to 8 min and see the larger fights – before 8 minutes is small team combat
Not a bad idea, Would be fun to have crafting in OS – as long as you can’t be targeted while you’re in a crafting menu. No sense getting ganked while your screen is full of menus
Guardians and classes with leaps used to be able to leap into Jerrifers in EB… Videos were made on how to do it and shortly it was fixed….
When the game was released, you could spawn on the east side of an enemy borderland and follow the cliffs right into hills lords room, that was also fixed rather quick…
I’m gonna take an educated guess and say Anet might fix it at some point (When those other exploits were happening we also had active Devs and no Living story) but a lot has changed in 2 years and Anet are a business that follows money so if it’ll ever get fixed is a question in itself.
Ansii m8, this has not been fixed. can still be done
Pretty sure if you hit drake’s breath and burned 3 people, it would blind one of them, and then the ICD procs
Looking for eles and guardians! send me mail in game
Nerthus, check this out. Any time anyone asks about D/D for zerg fights, I recommend they take a peek at:
This Ele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-hYOiAUiFw
I just want to know,
Wich is better in WwW ? can I use them for team support in WwW ? :O i just prefer play D/D
this one : http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQJAoYlcMozhVOwwBMsNwDgQ+XsdiCUuaynA-TFyHwAi1DoXVCmKB3r2ygHAwSlfi2fAwJAAA-wThanks guys !
If you really want to team-support as a D/D, you should run Aura share, and consider taking 2 out of arcana to get Elemental shielding in earth. (Consider it, I’m not sure its worth)
your builds are tanky enough that you wont get 1shot by a melee train, its now just to make sure that you’re supporting your team
Jeyzer, I like the way your knights build comes together. That D/D build would work very well in a zerg as well, not just for roaming.
I’ve dueled an ele running a similar build to your knights one, and he ripped my face off with any class that i threw at him.
This Ele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-hYOiAUiFw
I personally don’t like condi play style, so i would lean towards the knights set.

Backing off to wait out an enemy’s boons is a common tactic. You normally see it happen right after empowers, but it makes sense to wait out retaliation as well.
Visual/Display Settings are attached in screenshot -
all maxed except for render sampling, which is native.
Hey anet, Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but AOE (friendly and enemy) has not been rendering very well for the last week or two. Its not my hardware, as my settings havent changed in my last 2000 hours of play, and its a relatively recent development.
now, standing in red rings is always bad, but it would be nice to know how screwed i am before i get melted. Kthnx bai.
getting rekt by guardians spamming 1?
solution – get more necros.
make the guardians chase you over your wellllllssss
CORE still looking for folks to WvW with us! IoJ is the land of baegs!
We’ll stay and fight, and we push ourselves until we wipe – one does not improve without getting defeated.
Have a peek at our weekend with SoS!

Happy new year to everyone
Does anyone have new perspective on No white swords, or any input on the new standard mode of behavior that your servers have settled into now that we’re deep into this change?
You’ve got a lot of good stuff in here – your stats are great. You’ve got enough damage, and crit chance and armor to do very well
Looking at your skill bar – IMO
You should run Ether Feast instead of the signet heal – You won’t be having clones up for very long -so you’re loosing out on a lot of heal potential from the signet. Activating the signet for an extra phantasm in a ZvZ is also a huge waste, and will likely result in you getting cleaved to death.
I agree with the above poster who suggested that you run Blink. I never have blink off my bar, especially since you don’t have a Staff to help you re-position. I would loose Arcane Thievery for blink. (Personally, I think Arcane Thievery is a great 1v1 skill, it’s going to let you down in ZvZ. You will probably miss entirely, it’s not very reliable)
Most of the damage in WvW comes from focused AOE, so I think that Feedback is a bit of a lackluster choice. I’m not saying that it can’t be used effectively, for example, to shield a re-group from ranged projectiles (still, not a huge amount of damage you’re going to prevent since most enemy damage comes from necro marks, wells, and elementalist AOE, OR melee train cleaving together. I would recommend Decoy to give you the option to stealth and re-position
Looking at your Traits – Interesting choices – for WvW specifically I find that IP (Illusionary Persona) is realllly important, and I would take 2 points out of Chaos or Inspiration to secure IP. There are a couple of reasons for this. Sometimes – you just are not able to dodge-roll out of the way of an enemy melee train. Without IP, you’re extremely likely to die unless you have quick fingers with blink. IP will buy you a second of invulnerability (F4) to GTFO. Other times, you’ll be curling around a zerg fight looking for a squishy to burst, and a teef will suddenly be right next to you going for the backstab/panic strike/DEEPS. I would die 2-3x more if I were not able to use F3 (Diversion) or F4 (Distortion) to give you time to react to – “and suddenly, thieves”
I would change your Accuracy Sigils to Energy Sigils. WvW will be a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kl4hJ4j48s (Whole New World) with two energy sigils. Dodge rolls save lives more than just about anything else.
I agree, Mass invis is a fabulous elite to have in WvW.
I only have it off my bar if i’m in a zerg with some fabulous melee, to make their leap+bomb a 1push
Illusions: Masterful Reflection [rangers yo! pre-rapid fire buff I would run the confusion duration trait]
I had to do a slight necro on this thread just to thank you for this tip. I’d never even tried this trait before, but on your mention I gave it a whirl and well-timed it’s just fantastic. Thank you.
just be careful not to reflect anything while you’re stealthed =O
enjoy making bait out of rangers =D
I would have said Hoelbrak runes, but you seem to have made your decision
Dont transfer to Crystal Desert, all they want to do is karma train and blob around the maps. Come to HOD we have loyal guilds here that enjoy wvw, and don’t jump ship everytime the rankings change.
lol thats pretty funny coming from HoD. You guys have to blob to handle ONE of our guild groups consisting of less than 20 players. I completed twilight this reset because of you guys though. Keep bringing those loot bags to me
ya, we play for fun, you play to camp our spawns and get loot bags, doesnt take much to see the difference in the culture of our two servers.
When we can wipe thirty to forty of you with only twenty of us, why wouldn’t we? Its to much fun.
play nice you two. Nors, you should try to take it to the DOLOth level and get em with only eles and thieves. It can be done.
As both of you know, one guild is not representative of the entire server. play nice.
I have to agree with the people above who said T3 is FUBARed. It’s been pretty nasty for the last 6 weeks. T2 remnants come down and steamroll everything with superior coverage and population. (not one or the other, but BOTH) If you like being swarmed, and fighting an uphill battle, T3 will be a good place for you
(edited by Hamster.4861)
Yessss…. yesssssssss…. this is exactly what WvW is like
Celestial builds typically don’t have the punch needed to drop people quickly- but i’ve seen Cele/Zerk hybrids work out very well. Celestial Chest and Leggings (biggest stats in your armor) – Zerker everything else, Knights Weapons, Strength Runes (or Hoelbrak if you want condi duration reduction like I do)
That Kind of Cele/Zerk hybrid would work out for you roaming on D/D, S/D S/F and would also work for you doing support-staff work for a zerg
Reset doesn’t actually matter more than any other 6 hour period of time, it’s just more fun cause everyone is rollin deeeeeeeeeep.
Sometimes it’s good for setting the tone, breaking the morale of another server, but that probably only happens in silver/bronze where there are CLEAR population differences
I added some S/F small group (sub 10) fighting to this moobie: relevant clips stop at 8 min
Willy, this is a variation of an older WvW meta build for warrior-
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNBiYDbkpjKPLDxzD6QDwFUY77AQXKkODChNA-TlSDwA9U+N5gA84CAAT9HBm4SoEkkuBm7PAw8gknAApAYSZE-w
The meta has moved to Hoelbrak ($$$$$$) runes instead of Trooper($$), and you’d want to change a zerker trinket to a soldier or knights since you’d loose toughness and vitality by using the higher damage hoelbrak runes.
(edited by Hamster.4861)
Dont you have that Limit effects or how it is called turned on? This setting was introduced “recently” and for me it turns on after some updates.
all of my visual settings are set to highest possible, except for Render Sampling, which is set to Native.
just yesterday I had an opportunity to GvG one of the top 5 guilds in the game, [SYN]Syndictive, and in the first round their necros dropped 7 of my 15 players, in less than 10 seconds. I’m fairly certain it was only the necros, because it was instantaneous, and it hurt like hell. Elementalist damage takes time to ramp up, (ice spike, meteor shower, eruption)their melee was moving away from us, and we were melting. We got baited into a well bomb, and it was GG.
Guardians and warriors keep the zerg moving through everything. Elementalists provide the Sustain (water fields, area denial and cc) and Necromancers provide the damage.
6/2/0/0/6 necros are lethal in WvW, especially for big fights. If you can boonrip and chill an enemy zerg before your hammertrain hits it, you can pretty much guarantee some bags on that push.
Necros are an important part of the spike/area burst that goes on in zerg fights

any reason your attacking me for my opinion?
Only the combination of your signature and your sarcastic, non-advice for the original poster. You came to send a negative message and discard the roaming potential of the entire class because of LONGBOW RANGERS. There was no effort to answer the question of whether there are any non D/D roaming builds, only your narrow, pessimistic response. I didn’t come here to take a cheap shot at you, I came to offer a non D/D roaming type build when i read the name of the thread.
Kthnx bai.
So D/D is great in sPvP, but in typical WvW roaming engages, especially after the cele nerf, D/D no longer has teeth. I respect the build, as it has great support, utility, and mobility, but its killing potential, and in duels with other common roaming classes, it falls short. As such, I’d love to have a discussion of alternative builds for roaming in WvW.
One build I admire is Diva’s condi signet Earth ele. My issues with this build are the lack of viability in all but the smallest of engagements (no real group support; this build is entirely a duelist), and terrible mobility. However, it absolutely crushes nearly every roamer build out there, and the Thief tears are wonderful.
I’ve experimented with S/F Fresh Air, and found that somewhat lacking in WvW. Poor mobility, glass cannon, and difficulty landing necessary skills make this burst damage build fun but limited in application.
Has anyone else experimented with, and found great success, in using non-D/D builds for roaming in WvW?
Cheers.
IMO roaming on ele died the minute lb rangers became viable.
as his signature says, he’s a bad ele.
IMO D/D is very predictable, and I don’t roam D/D when i’m using my ele to roam.
Here is what I would run while roaming and looking for 1v1 and anything up to 5v10
While S/F builds lack mobility that you’re used to with D/D, your skill rotations are used to prevent damage from hitting you (swirling winds, magnetic wave, obsidian flesh) and there is a fair variety of ways that you can set up your burst with the phoenix.
When you really need to escape you have your FGS and LF
With this build you’re able to get a glass thief from 100%-0% in the amount of time it takes Hide in Shadows to channel if you set up your burst appropriately.
-slow clap- quite a rant. unfortunately our WvW situation is not going to improve until someone dies. (YB, DB, SoS, FA)
Is it possible to ally with the other T3 server vs the tier 2 server?
if both T3 servers attack the T2 server, we barely make a dent in them. With white swords gone, and the community desertion that came along with that particular change, T3 servers are left with the players who dont actually give a crap about the PPT and just play for fights.
I dont have a full headcount of guilds on SoS, but with DB, they had more guilds rallying, who had deeper rallies (25+ compared to our 15-20) than both IoJ and NSP combined. I imagine SoS is largely the same.
Me personally, I dont really mind because I havent tried to upgrade anything since the second week of no white swords. My guild does rally and has gotten to GvG with some of the best guilds in the game, and we can work on improving our synergy and play while we get blobbed
(edited by Hamster.4861)
so, throwing blueprints on people will proc Air and Fire sigils when you throw them on living enemies.
lol
ERHHMAHGERD.
