You clearly don’t understand how this game works. Mesmer clones aren’t " easy " since you have to split your effort between killing them or killing the mesmer.
Same goes with engi – he throws turrets – you’re stuck either fighting him or them.

Well for one, I stated that Mesmer clones were 1) Easy to kill and 2) Easy to tell apart from the caster. I suppose if you are idiotic enough to waste your time running around playing whack-a-mole with the Mesmer clones, you could have a pretty tough endeavor on your hands. Personally, I watch for the subtle giveaways and go after the real Mesmer. To each their own.

And Engineer. I actually LOL’ed at that. I would love to play against the Engineers that you are that are using the entirety of their utility slots for turrets. They are admittedly (after Ranger pets) the second worst mechanic in the game. Turrets currently don’t scale with stats, are EXTREMELY easy to kill, and once the breeze rolls through and knocks them over you are left with an Engineer with very little options.

As far as Guardian, I have no qualms with them. They can bunker… so what. They aren’t dealing unbelievable damage while doing so.

Listen to Luto. Its frustrating when thief is advertised as king of mobility, when in actuality chasing a warrior is futile. You will never catch him, and he will regenerate to full while you try. But also if we are speaking by your logic of “every class has their gimmick” to make up for armor/HP differences, Warrior gets heavy armor, and should be burdened by it. They should move slower than a Thief in leather armor, when “mobility” is supposedly the thief’s “gimmick.”

Also, please stop with your dead-end “You just don’t understand how things are and how this game works” arguments.

Fighting the mesmer and not the clones means his damage is being dealt to you WHILE you are trying to catch him. That’s why the mechanic is strong. Same with Engi.

Also – regarding guardian – a guardian can outdamage a warrior and still has access to protection and retaliation more easily. So he can invest less into bunkering and have a default 33% damage reduction.

Luto there has two things on warriors : easily deliverable spike damage ( higher than you can output as a war and more spammable) and more mobility coupled with stealth giving more effective harass options.
And no – just because GS can make you run in a straight line with skill 5 and you can use skill 3 to move around doesn’t necessarily mean you have better mobility. Since you have little control over it skill 5 can only be used to engage/disengage but WHILE in a fight it’s not of much use.

Also – this is taken off the official site where each class is described :

“Warriors are masters of weaponry who rely on speed, strength, toughness, and heavy armor to survive in battle” – SPEED. Nowhere did Anet intend for warriors to be slow and burdened by heavy armor. This is a class designed to move fast, hit hard and take hits. In return for this they lose the ability to mitigate damage having no access to invis, protection, blinks, blinds and whatnot.

@Stx – if you feel other classes are underpowered and unpolished then threads should be made and suggestions should be offered to buff them up – but that doesn’t mean warrior should be broken.

Regarding GS mobility – in my opinion it is fine. Sure – you get a lot of mobility – but as it is now with GS your F1 skill is useless. Your number two skill (100b) roots you in place – so yes- you get to move around a lot but doing the damage is actually hard.
Autoattacks are pretty bad too. For a weapon with NO cc – there should be some advantage.
Yes – it has damage – damage that roots you in place. ( I’m not saying that 100b needs to be reworked ) I’m pointing out the trade-offs.

@Kagamiku. – he never will post that – because making things up to support your point of view is the norm around here.

So – I’ve been playing the same set-up for over 5 months – same T3 with my twilight on my back. So naturally I’ve seen a lot of my character running with that sword on his back.
What I haven’t seen before is the clipping issue i encountered this afternoon ( a few hours before this post) – which wasn’t even there the morning ( or i didn’t notice).

Armor Cap to avoid Pure Zerker Builds

People don’t understand.

“Pure zerker” builds are not the issue here. Zerker just happens to be the optimal set to do content in IF you’re good and have a group that knows their way around the content.

It might as well be " Pure whatever " -since if armor cap or other mechanics that render zerker obsolete are placed in the game the people that speed clear now as full zerkers , the ones that demand full zerker will just switch to the next optimal set and that’ll be the end of it.

You will NEVER have more build diversity than we do right now. Because there will always be one armor stat combo that is better than the others. No matter how you make the game. So yes – min maxers will always request it.

IF you’re tired of " full zerker doing this or that " remember this : if you change boss mechanics you’ll just have " full knights doing this or that " and pretty soon you’ll have a new " Whatever cap to avoid full knight builds".

Although even the most glass cannon thief will be hard-pressed to even put a dent into an average warrior (albeit the idiot warriors that run full berserk) , and even then the warrior will most likely have regenerated the HP while the thief is in the process of waiting for stealth timer to wear off, reapply stealth, and position for another backstab.

Every class has a gimmick mechanic, so warrior needs to have compensation? I take it by your overly defensive attitude that you play warrior.

I do play warrior, yes- and you clearly have no idea how a full glass thief can dent the average warrior. Even in full knights – a glass thief can 3 hit me easy. 3 hit.
And he can spam blinds to make sure I can’t throw my " tons of cc " at him while he does it.

You clearly don’t understand how this game works. Mesmer clones aren’t " easy " since you have to split your effort between killing them or killing the mesmer.
Same goes with engi – he throws turrets – you’re stuck either fighting him or them.

And you didn’t even bring up guardian – a class that surpasses warrior greatly when it comes to passive regen and damage mitigation.

Also unlike other classes ( engi / guardian / ele ) warriors have no true invulnerabiliy. Endure Pain and Shield stance do NOTHING against conditions. Which other classes will spam at you greatly.

The bottom line is you haven’t played warrior , have no idea how it works – where it’s good, where it’s bad and how to counter it. You’re just ranting and pointing a finger saying " nerf omg".

ITT : I don’t like how certain people play the game so change the game to make it more into what i want and not allow them to play their own way. Sounds great.

Reread this :

So why does your proposed change make it so that anyone running zerker should expect to die at least one time if not more in a dungeon due to the undodgeable OHKO attack?

That will quickly turn into: “NO ZERKERS. Ping gear.”

And it will quickly after that turn into: “[New meta gear] ONLY. Ping gear.”

Your suggestion completely gets rid of one build. Full Zerker builds is NOT the problem. Your solution to the people who require Full Zerkers in their dungeon groups removes Full Zerker as a possible build.

Also, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HixNwGVDOb4&list=PL_tvolwEnBwTwGF1IKeI7QLRaNLsqvsXm&index=5
There’s a link to these for every class in the description for the video you posted.

The fact that every class is capable of this speaks words on its own. If you’re a good player you can make sue out of a harder to play class. Just ebcause a warrior is easy to play does not make it overpowered. It gives an advantage when two average players are fighting each other.

And the funny thing is, people complain about healing signet but warriors are one of the easiest classes for me to take down (as a warrior) — Healing signet is completely shut down by the condition build that I use. Most still run hammer and the damage is pathetic.

My whole team was against two warriors today on a point in a pvp match. 5vs2. Warriors were regenerating so hard yet were still able to put out so much damage they downed our entire team without us even getting one down (team even called target, so we had focus). Regenerating beyond all the damage we put out (we even had a condi necro (which brings up another point, Warriors even get a fear, which is unbelievable)).

Your move.

Assuming we take your word for it – and this isn’t just something you made up in order to justify your exaggerated claims ( you could provide actual evidence – but why do that?) I think it’s safe to say that if you lost 5 vs 2 your team was terribly bad. And would have probably lost to whatever else.

No matter how OP or un-OP a class is – you don’t lose a 5 vs 2 unless those 5 are completely clueless and very slow/bad.

You can say " I lost a 2 v 1 because a class is OP. Or maybe a 3 vs 2. But a 5 vs 2 is just ridiculous. You’re making a ridiculous claim ( without any proof) and expect to be taken seriously? Nobody loses a 5 v 2 by playing well. Nobody.

It’s more like Warrior is balanced, but the other classes are less balanced.
Warrior needs it’s damage to have a purpose in the game. Ever seen a warrior in movies/other games that doesn’t fight like a beast?
Warrior needs it’s high health in order to survive. Along with thief,s who have stealth, they’re upfront most of the time. That’s what they’re supposed to do.
And warrior armor is pretty obvious. A warrior with leather/cotton clothes is just a farce.

So you are saying warrior’s need both high health and high armor to survive, but other classes have to trade off one or the other? Engineer has decent HP pool, but has to trade off for leather armor (shield quite doesnt make up for the difference, and not everybody runs shield). Thief – lowest HP pool, again leather armor, and please don’t argue that stealth makes up for this, because any form of AOE should be enough to deter, if not down, a thief that just went invis.

I could go on with this for the other classes, but its hard to argue against the fact that warriors have a low-to-no-risk (highest hp, highest armor) high-reward (insane damage, insane regeneration) aspect to them that just quite doesn’t make sense. Any other class has to trade off their damage to achieve a bunker build. Warrior just seems able to do it all.

You forgot a few parts.
Warriors don’t get : Clones ,Invisibility, reflects, protection. That’s why we have high armor and high HP. Because we can’t mitigate as well as other classes.

An invis thief can stealth up and you have no idea where he is.
Mesmers spam so many clones that it’s insane.
Guardians have access to protection and reflects.
Engis just drop tons of stuff all the time.

You lack proper understanding of how things are – in a game where every class has a gimmick mechanic the one class that doesn’t needs to have something to make up for it.

Lord Pain, how is a warrior regenerating health faster than I can dish out damage balanced at all? As well as having more mobility than a thief. That sure makes sense.

They have mobility with one weapon – the GS. Which gives you no CC.
Also if you can’t deal enough damage to kill a regen war then you need to rethink your approach – take a look at your build – and ask yourself " Why is my build bad? "

Being able to stack is wrong

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Harper.4173

Harper.4173

wait… what’s wrong with stacking?

It trivializes combat, for example

Have you considered not stacking then?

Rather than remove the option to stack, how about you exercise your option to not stack?

Feel free to run around in circles around mobs and spam whatever range weapon you prefer. Just make sure to do it either when solo, or in groups specifically advertised for it:

“LFM AC Path 1. NO STACKING! Have at least 1 hour!”

Let me guess: LF3M ONLY WAR ZERK NO NOOBS is a good thing for the game.

I have played games with model collision. It’s a griefiers paradise.
Stand in a narrow hallway or door and do not allow others to pass by, then charge them to pass or laugh at them.

True, but what if collision only worked in combat?

Stacking is not an issue. Stop trying to make it into one.
This game’s boon system and combo fields were specifically designed for a " stack friendly " environment.

Players can choose to play any way they want- and wanting to do things fast and efficient is not something that should be frowned upon or discouraged. Each player is free to play how he wants and with people that want to play like him.

“LFM ZERKER WARS SPEED CLEAR " is not good or bad for the game. It’s a player’s choice and he can choose to play whichever way he wants. If others choose to join him it is THEIR choice.

There’s a lot of talk here about content being trivialized because of stacking. That is not the case. Stacking does not trivialize the content – the players that play the content trivialize it.
Why ? Because not everybody enjoys spending 1 hour per dungeon path. Because not everybody enjoys doing the same boss fight over and over and over again – and doing it for the fun of it.
The cold hard truth is that players play dungeons for rewards. Before the end-dungeon guaranteed gold patch the only thing players really did was COF P1 – because of the farm there.
Nobody does dungeons for the experience – the game has been out a year – we’ve all most likely done each dungeon at least a dozen times to know what it’s like and how it plays out.

What’s left ? Farming.
Dungeons already have a hard time competing with the zerg champ train farm – take stacking away and you’ll be left with a very small minority actually doing the dungeons.

Consider why some dungeon paths are almost ALWAYS done and some are NEVER done. Because some of them can be beaten easily and " trivialized " for fast rewards while others can not. So the player base does the easy ones and never does the others.

Stacking is not and never was the problem.
If you don’t believe me ask how many players still do the new TA path – that was recently implemented and not very poorly designed. That’s right – nobody does it.

The main issue here is that end-game items in this game cost a lot. Even if you don’t want legendary a full set of ascended armor will cost you at least a few hundred gold ( at the moment ) minus the 100+ it takes you to craft to 500.

Ascended weapons ( provided you use 2-3) will cost you ( with crafting to 500) another 200 gold minimum.
Meanwhile AC P1 + P3 ; SE P1; P3 and CoF P1 – give you a grand total of 6 gold / day.
So yes – people will stack. They will stack the hell out of these dungeons because they need to.

And i’m not even going to mention legendary weapons.

No it’s not. Because the heal is so weak I’m going to die anyways so I’m not wasting 1,25 seconds trying to activate it. Situtations were it actually would make difference are so rare, even in pvp, that most players probably never encountered one…

Healing Signet Idea

in Warrior

Posted by: Harper.4173

Harper.4173

Having 300hps+ adrenal health would not make you useless. Come on now… Especially if the on-use became something worth using like I had also suggested. You act like warriors are on the verge of being totally useless. Hint: They’re not. And if you feel warriors are in a good spot, I suggest you try some other classes out for a bit and compare your findings. Most people have to actually press the heal button to stay alive, which I’m sure would be your biggest learning curve, at this point. Not to mention, people above me seem to think healing surge is just fine (not my words), so if healing signet got nerfed a bit, clearly they’d be just fine. <_<

Healing signet is fine at the moment.
People going " my concern is not to press the heal button by accident " have obviously never been in fights where they were literally an inch away from dying.

If you only PVE it’s perfectly understandable why you feel that you don’t need to use it.
By its core design HS is supposed to offer good passive healing and sustain.
It is a PASSIVE PLUS Skill. Meaning the passive is the really good part. The active part of the skill is an emergency " i need to not die this very instant " button.
Please – stop trying to fix what isn’t broken. Warrior has been gutted enough already with the hammer nerf ( which might be justifiable) and the longbow nerf ( which was totally uncalled for).
Do you people want to kill the class for good ?

In GW2 in most istances you NEED 1 guardian, and you ’d better have 1 warrior or 2

you still wait for your “cleric”.

Try fractal without guardians…doable sure but its way more challenging if not almost impossible with pugs.

with 2 decent guardians any istance can be won almost with the monitor turned off.

And somehow the general consensus still is that warriors are the " OP " PVE class.
You’ve just made a very valid point.

Also – instabilities are exactly what I was trying to explain earlier – people will avoid content that is too hard to zerk through.
And yes – all dungeons can be zerked BY AN ORGANIZED SPEEDCLEAR PARTY but not by pugs.
However the dungeons I pointed out can and will be zerkered through by pugs. The rest require more zerker skill that pugs just don’t have – so they don’t do them.
Same with the instabilities – too hard ? nobody does it.

Also if you’ve done fractals so much you should know that before the " Fractured " patch a mesmer was a MUST have if you wanted your run to go as fast as it could go.

Class Balance [Killshot OP]

You won’t be able to see a LOT of skills in zerg fights. If that bothers you, go roam or play spvp. The argument that you’re trying to make is that any skill you can’t see because of a zerg fight should be nerfed. Ok, well we’d be left with no skills then. We’d all run around throwing paper towel rolls at each other for 0 damage and yell “Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt!”

I don’t think I could ever explain things to you in a way that you would understand. Go to the spvp forums and make this same post about killshot being OP, you will be laughed off the forums.

If you have a multi hit skill like engineer grenades or a flamethrower, I will absolutely tell you not to AoE the FRONT of a zerg because of ret. AOE the back of it like a sensible player would do. But ret is currently unbalanced. When life steal on crit food had no ICD it was ok, but with that nerfed, ret is just too strong vs rapid multi hit skills and needs to be re-designed.

Take your selective reading and condescending tripe and post it else where. You’re not helping anyone with your protips which basically amounts to. Look for it and dodge it, if you can’t see it because you can’t look behind your or when there’s too many people, then it’s meant to be unbalanced like that.

By your logic a thief in stealth is also unbalanced because you cannot see him. Amazing.

Class Balance [Killshot OP]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Harper.4173

Harper.4173

I am not the first one to say it, and I am not talking about the thief backstab which is quite tolerable considering it does only 8k dmg for a very squishy build.

But this: 10,706 dmg and 15,247 dmg Killshots within 5-6 seconds from a warrior that has more health than my quite balanced Ele, my Ele which takes 5 seconds to cast a freaking meteor that does 4k dmg to him IF it hits at all.

During the a very short time window that Warrior does about 30k dmg. I fully healed after the first Killshot which brought me to 6k health, but the second shot brought down 80% of my health, and that is only because I have a half-bunker ele with 20k hp, else its an instant one-shot kill against any normal ele.

What are we supposed to think about that sort of balancing?

There is no balance to be had here OP.

My questions are these : Why did you eat two consecutive kill shots ? They’re one of the EASIEST skill to dodge.
Two – realize please that while kill shot damage is pretty good your rifle glass cannon build has no utility whatsoever and you’re only good for sniping/trolling people. It is a non-competitive gimmick build that ANY decent build or ANY decent player will destroy.

Try running it yourself and see how you do. After that come back.

Harper – I do run with full zerker. There’s literally no reason not to, in dungeons or world boss/general PvE.

Once you’ve done the encounter a time or two, and know what to dodge – that becomes it – your strategy. DPS, dodge when needed. It works, and it works well. It’s incredibly boring though.

You are sadly misinformed.
1)The majority of world bosses as treated as objects in game and thus do not take critical damage. So – since you can’t crit them PVT gear is optimal for world bosses and Tetquatl.

2)The majority of dungeons that are actually played. Because besides COF P1/P2 + AC 1/3 and SE 1/3 there are other dungeons out there. Some of them break zerker groups in half because of the way they play out. And that’s why people don’t do them.

It isn’t that the content that doesn’t favor zerker isn’t there – it is – but nobody will play it.

I’d LOVE to see an encounter where we NEEDED eles or rangers for snares, plus some condition damage in addition to the DPS race that exists now. It doesn’t exist in-game. Even fractals, so far as I’ve bothered, doesn’t require anything else (could be wrong about this post 20, but I don’t enjoy them, and can’t be bothered running them to get gear to survive agony to be able to do.. fractals.)

You have those. You have encounters in fractals and dungeons that require reflects and ports and stealth and whatnot. Condition damage is and will always be good as long as you don’t have more than 1 person doing it. A necro is always welcome.
Run high level fractals – you’ll see that every class has a place where it is really useful.
-1500 range for rangers and engis ; pulls and ports for mesmer ; blocks and reflects for guard ; skips with invis for thief – almost every class brings something really useful for that.

the limiting factor isn’t just that going full berserker is faster – it’s only faster because there is absolutely nothing else required. You don’t need massive area control, nor large amounts of poison. The enemies are HP bags with 1-shot mechanics. Attack-attack-attack-dodge-attack-attack-dodge – repeat. Every encounter.
It always drives me nuts, the sheer potential of the combat system, and how very little has been done with it.

You haven’t done much FOTM – so you don’t know about the new bosses – which require more than PURE DPS. Look up the new fractal bonus rounds. You will be surprised.

If they hadn’t used Defiant on every single threatening creature in the game, and allowed for any form of crowd control to be useful in PvE, there might be some more variety. Had they made encounters that REQUIRE proper crowd control, there would certainly be more variety, and it would likely be more fun as well.

Right now, the entire game is just a DPS race. Unfortunately, in PvE, the “berserker or nothing” people are right. They shouldn’t be, and this is a immense flaw in the game design, but they are.

Except what you fail to see is that the majority of people do NOT wear beserker.
Most pugs don’t run it – open world people don’t run it. A very small portion of the player base uses full zerker. Why? Because it isn’t easy. It requires skill and coordination – which is something you would know if you ran it.
You can’t zerker if you’re bad. You can’t zerker if the people around you are bad ( which is most pugs) so no. The game is not flawed.

Zerker gear rewards the upper tier of players by offering rewards faster. In exchange these players have developed better in-game skills and are actually playing on a different level than their cleric or giver wearing peers.

Also – as a fun fact – i’ve done HUNDREDS of dungeon runs and I’ll encounter another full zerker in maybe 20 people or so. I just ask what they wear . Every 20 people ( give or take ) you have someone going all out zerker. They are usually high AP players that know what they are doing.

Imagine a game where buffs were limited to people in your party to encourage grouping and disincentivize zerging. a game without commander tags.

where ele’s brought speed, rangers brought regen, guardians brought protection, engineers brought a wild card.
imagine a game where thieves could perma stealth and scout like bosses, ninja keeps, but couldnt restealth more than once in combat.
imagine a game where warriors did less damage because they had the most hp and armor.

There would be a reason to have every class in the group, and itd be a better place.
#lookingforward2camelotunchained.

1. Terrible idea limiting certain boons to certain professions.
2. Make the most gimmicky mechanic in the game even more gimmicky. Because at least now we can counter stealth with the fact that they’re not able to have 100% uptime.
3.Your warrior suggestion is either a joke OR a failed troll attempt. Warriors have the highest HP in the game. Guardians SHARE the same armor. And warriors need both these things because : they do not have a gimmick mechanic ( teleports/ stealth/ clones) or access to protection and whatnot.
In a fight a warrior cannot mitigate damage as well as other classes do. We can’t stealth up and avoid it, drop prot or retaliation , we can’t blind others. All we can do is eat up that damage.
Please next time before you post take a minute to think about what you’re actually posting.

Except warriors do not deal the highest damage in a group. They come after Eles and thieves and according to some even guardians.

Also – if you feel some classes are underplayed – some suggestions how to make them more popular would be good. But the bottom line is this :

No matter how you balance things – there will always be those classes that give the most reward ( bring a lot to the party ) for the least amount of effort ( are easy to play and even inexperienced players can do right with them) . They will ALWAYS be the go-to popular choice.

That’s why we have the warrior misconception – warrior is highest DPS in a dungeon. He is not. A perfectly played dps warrior will never outmatch a perfectly played DPS thief. But the problem is that players want something fun and easy to play. You rarely see perfectly played dps thieves because in order to play one effectively you need to be much more agile and micro-oriented.
So people prefer to deal LESS damage but have an easier time.

This will happen regardless of what classes are buffed or nerfed. Just take the statement above and replace " warrior " with x class and " thief " with another. It is unchangeable.

Also – personally I feel guardians are the go-to PVE class now. There’s no content in the game that cannot be EASILY completed by a 5 x guardian party. That cannot be said to be true by any other class.
Any other 5x class combo will eventually have trouble somewhere. Not so with the guards. Some can support – some can DPS – and overall they’ll have a supporty might-stacking projectile reflecting boon bombing party of awesome and death that will raze all content.

Ascended armor - looks.

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Harper.4173

There’s a very big problem with Ascended armor – it doesn’t look nearly as awesome as I personally had hoped it would look.

I was expecting something of cultural grade quality – something unique and beautiful. I also expected different stat combos to have different looks. That would have been the non-lazy and awesome way to implement them.
A sort of " ok we know people didn’t really want ascended gear but look – we’ve tried to make it great " and it could have worked.

Yes – getting a set with the stats that you want and then getting one for the looks would have been fine IF it would have been that the looks made it worth it. As it stands I’ll build it and just transmute over. Pity.

Some players are acting like they didn’t get any rewards during the 7 weeks of Season 1.

Truth is I fill my bags at least 4x on any given WvW night. Imo, the mini-dolyak and trophy finishers were all that should have been included in the WvW chest, I think some players built up unfulfillable expectations.

Honestly – the “hardcore” WvW crew being all happy with non-WVW PVE players being disappointed with the rewards is missing the point entirely.
I didn’t go into WvW hoping the end chest would give me Dusk, or 100 gold.

My expectations were of a different nature – in a game that is powered primarily by COSMETIC changes – I expected a weapon/ armor skin exclusive to those who played this season. It would have made sense ( instead of a silly mini and some useless mats, a few yellows and let’s not forget – finishers).

It wouldn’t have been a reward that would have broken the economy , it wouldn’t have created tension between high tier and low tier servers – it would have been something cool and unique that players could have.
But we didn’t get that – I’m not upset that Anet didn’t reward me with gold or valuable items – I know that WVW is not profitable and if I want gold I should farm PVE hard not kill yaks and take camps BUT I do feel upset that overall they really went wrong with the rewards on this one. For both WvW and Non-WvW players.

Another issue was the reward being " super secret " – this was a poor strategy to get people who were not into WvW to go there. It worked – but now that the gig is up people like me feel disappointed. I feel tricked into doing it.
If the reward had been posted prior – I wouldn’t have bothered.

Why is that a good thing ? because I’m not a WvW player – and still I was there – in EB and the borderlands taking up space – running specifically what I needed to run in order to get my achievements – wasting supply and running karma trains and whatnot – while people who love WvW were stuck in queues. Why ?! Because Anet didn’t bother to specify which players would be interested by these rewards by making them public.

I hope this is an experience they can learn from – I certainly have – Not going to bother with WvW rewards unless they are : 1 ) announced prior to season start. 2) worth the time and effort.

I myself am a PVE player. I sometimes do WvW – rarely.
I went into this season specifically because of this " reward chest " ( That gave me 3 rares, 9 level scrolls and then useless items and greens). I thought it might be something to show off you were there for season 1 – maybe a skin – maybe something else.
These sort of rewards I did not expect. I feel that if the rewards had been announced earlier then me and a ton of other people wouldn’t have bothered. There are at least a dozen more fun ways to spend my time in game than grinding camps and dolyaks.

If the rewards had been nicely presented at the start of the season things would have been much better. The high number of PVE players the went into WvW for those rewards would have been lower – but at least at the end they wouldn’t have felt cheated AND it wouldn’t have frustrated the hardcore WvW players so much since players like me played it for the achievements.

Ultimately I’m disappointed – but somehow felt this sort of thing would happen. I didn’t want super duper ascended rewards – but an exclusive skin or title or whatever would have made it feel like it was worth my time. That wasn’t the case though.

With this sort of turn-up I doubt I’ll be participating in any more seasons from now on.
They had a chance with this reward – to maybe motivate PVE-oriented players to give WvW a chance and maybe let it grow on them. It certainly could have won me over – it was starting to. If the reward was nice I thought I’d actually start playing WvW seriously.

Option A. Option B ( resetting the progress via level cap ) would make me and a good portion of the player base quit.
I like the work I put into a game to mean something. That is the reason I chose GW1 over WOW when I got into the MMO scene. Because with WoW’s expansion + new tier of gear system everything you work for is rendered null and void every year or so when a new expansion comes out.

Personally I value my time – I like to feel that I’m building something and would be incredibly frustrated and angry if someone wiped all of my progress arbitrarily.

That’s how I feel – that’s why I chose GW1 and that’s why I still play GW2. I can forgive one " Ascended " situation – but this sort of thing has to stop.

but the truth of the matter is that that is much more easily said than done,

Yes – that’s how you up your game. Make it just as easy to do it as it it to say it.

400 HP/s is great unless you’re bursted down. But nobody does that because the condition meta makes people think spamming bleeds will get them somewhere.
Almost all classes can deal more than 400hp/s + you can blind and kite the warrior as well.

High damage builds ARE the solution here – and when you made mention of your thief you forgot to mention that for the warrior to kill you he must first catch you.
You forgot you have poison ; forgot you have blind ; forgot you have stealth.
You just casually forgot to mention these as you were saying how the warrior will kill you because he deals more damage and does regen.

Yes – you don’t survive as much but then again the warrior will never turn invisible will he? IF you want to have the advantages of a warrior – play one. Else – accept the trade off – you get to be unseen but lack the ability to survive.

Also you mention theorycrafting – as something you do. Do you actually have any numbers or some research or are we going to resume ourselves to :

“I’ve done some theorycrafting and it turns out X class is OP. Trust me – i know numbers and spreadsheets and stuff”.

After reading through most of the thread i feel I shouldn’t even reply to Arganthium – all we have here is a case of a " theorycrafting" expert gone terribly wrong.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news… but the endurance nerf is coming on Tuesday… it has already been announced and discussed… Access to vigor is being severely nerfed in order to reduce the amount of dodging that occurs. You can check the Dec 10th balance preview thread of all the details, but this is something that isn’t theoretical, it is already happening.

Except that’s not the kind of nerf I was referring to. I was looking at a possible nerf to standard – off the bat endurance bar fill time or number of dodges you get.

This sort of nerf will hit the baddies the most – the people that brought vigor-generating skills in order to stay alive – because they couldn’t manage their game.

A decent zerker player will have no trouble.

Simple question.

You need 70 AR to be able to do FOTM level 50 – which means you’ll have to invest a significant amount of gold into getting your AR that high.

At the same time you can do level 49 with 50+ AR – which is much less of an investment. My question is simple : To those of you that have managed to do 50 + ( if anyone ) are the drops/rewards worth it?

I’m talking from a purely economical/ min-max point of view. If you want a challenge I don’t imagine level 49 is that much easier – but is it worth it to invest to get to 70 AR? Do you think you’ll get a return on your investment?!

And along came an endurance nerf for everyone which will make running pure zerker even less forgiving, and defensive stats a little more useful.

Condition users still need a hand though. Will be fun to watch the diehard (hur hur) zerkers adjust though.

Except an endurance nerf will only damage the game given that it is designed to have a fluid and organic type of combat.
It’s a dodge attack type of game instead of a " stand in one place and hit your opponent and he stands in one place hitting you" where the person with the better gear/build wins.

An endurance nerf is never coming. It would defeat the purpose of GW2 combat.

Defensive stats are viable at the moment – they mean you’re forgiven MORE mistakes if you’re not dodging / evading right – but they shouldn’t be made that you’ll be able to circumvent dodging entirely because " I AM FULL TANK AND HAVE TONS OF REGEN".

Players will also gravitate towards these kinds of simple mindless loot opportunities when they are in the game.

Unfortunately, this leaves many other engaging group events in the world untouched and other zones desolate.

While I applaud the players resilience for staying with such a dull manifestation of the game, I feel Anet should take an approach akin to paternalism* and remove the Queens zerg, in order to force change and diversity.

This may upset some players, who feel they should be able to play how they want to play, but sometimes the world demands an authority or organization to guide us gently towards perfection.

Who is with me?

NB:

**"Paternalism" comes from the Latin pater, meaning to act like a father, or to treat another person like a child, limiting some person or group’s liberty or autonomy for their own good.

“in order to force change and diversity. "
Short answer : No.
Long answer : Why do you even care how others play? You’re free to do as you like.

Healing Signet

in Warrior

Posted by: Harper.4173

Harper.4173

A classes success should not be dependent on the use of a single skill.

Agree .But the problem is warrior class is completely broken without it

We’re not saying that HS should be removed, just that it should be lowered. If there is no middle ground between being OP and being broken, then the issue should be on how to improve the warrior overall.

You can’t. Because it’s a class that has no gimmick mechanic like clones and stealth.
Because it’s a class that is very beginner friendly and thus easy to play. Ergo played a lot – ergo it will kill bads a lot. Those bads will spam the forums and you’ll get nerfs such as the longbow and hammer nerfs.

Warriors will always be subject to their negative popularity. Sadly you can’t fix them – when they come even close to competitive people will spam the forums again with " NERF OMG".
Look at this thread – a nerf has already been announced and it hasn’t even arrived and people are STILL crying for more nerfs. Because they can’t up their game they just want to get a free win over warriors by requesting nerfs.

Healing Signet needs its passive healing scaled down and the active improved significantly, which would make it work well with CD reduction via Traits. The complaints don’t come from its synergy with Adrenal Health and Shout / Banner heals, which is decent build efficiency.

Instead, the frustration stems from the fact that Healing Signet requires literally zero maintenance or attentiveness, with other Warrior healing abilities being sub-par in comparison. In its current state you would be better off unbinding the key shortcut entirely, making it the only Heal skill in the game that has no situational active use yet still outperforms other alternatives in overall HPS.

TL;DR: Make the button worth pushing.

You’re missing the point of passive regen aren’t you?

It has situational use – you use it when you die if you don’t. It outperforms all other heals IF you’re not being burst or poisoned.

Healing Signet

Remember when Heightened focus and Berserker’s Might were moved to gradmaster traits?

Of course you don’t.

Healing signet is fine – it allows for passive sustain that makes warriors viable. If it wasn’t the case warriors would be the joke of any combat situation – as was the case before it was buffed.

Almost all other classes have some gimmick mechanic that ensures their survivability. Warriors have none – except this one skill. And since it is a skill rather than a game mechanic people are spamming " nerf x skill " – because they can’t understand that warrior has to have a high amount of passive sustain with little investment in order to remain viable.

If you want to take HS out – sure – but why not take out thief stealth or mesmer clones while you’re at it.
Because those are class mechanics and ours is a skill – but in reality both do the same thing – make their respective classes viable.

You want to fight HS – use poison ; use bursts.
I’ve beaten every class in WvW as a warrior and i’ve also lost to every class. It’s a matter of player skill. You posting that " you lost to a warrior " and " you’re getting tired of it " is no valid reason for any change.

If that were the case I would post that " mesmers are so distracting and stuff nerf them more" and what ? Anet would nerf mesmers? Why?

I can’t even respond to that…you think that healing signet is comparable to stealth and mesmer clones? You can’t be serious. Please come up with a valid reason warrior signet should remain, then come back. The fact is, 400 health per second on a class that already has an extremely high base health and toughness is just overkill.

A classes success should not be dependent on the use of a single skill.

You can’t respond to it because you have no valid arguments.

Warrior signet should remain because :
1) Warrior’s inherent mechanics are : High passive regen, high armor and high health pool. Just like stealth and clones and whatnot.

2)Before healing signet was buffed warriors were a joke in both WvW and sPVP. With the upcoming hammer nerf to the ONLY popular warrior build in sPVP it would completely kill off the class since it would make it WEAKER than before signet was buffed.
Remember – at that time warriors still had hammer the way it is today . Which will be nerfed soon.

Did you even play GW2 back then ? Do you even know what it was like to encounter a warrior back in those days? I’ll tell you – free kill. All warriors were in ANY form of pvp back then ( be it sPVP or WvW ) was a free kill.

As it is now HS has counters – BURST damage; POISON. Nobody uses these? That’s not my problem.

If you can’t understand or face the facts that’s your problem – but stop trying to say that what you’re proposing is actually valid – because it isn’t – and the fact that HS is where it is now proves it. ( if it was fine it wouldn’t have been buffed).
