ArenaNet would never implement mass selling simply because it’s not required. The selling limitations are really not a problem, since the items can simply be queued for sale on the client side. If ArenaNet said it was okay to mod the trading post, I guarantee you this feature would be available.

The cache wasn’t cleared. This is obvious by the fact that it’s a 304 response (Not Modified), which can only occur when the browser has a cached copy. You can try this yourself by simply using the network capture and clicking the top link, with caching enabled of course. Considering you’ve apparently never seen a 304 response, you likely have the option set to clear your cache on each page load.

Remember, this was originally about the images with a 304 response, which you thought was a redirect, when it simply means the resource hasn’t changed and doesn’t need to be downloaded. Do you understand why the images and all other static resources are hosted through the CDN rather than the main servers? You should, since you wrote about it. Hosting those files on the these servers would only increase load times.

That’s basically why. All off the primary topic links are shortened URLs that link to a reference page. That page is the server determining which post you’ve last seen and redirecting you to that post.

They can use old masteries, they just won’t be required to progress. They could have updrafts as a shortcut for example, but anything from HoT would never be required for PoF’s story.

Some masteries will be simply be replaced. The bunny is the new jumping mushroom for example and gliding could easily be replaced in the same way, either with the skimmer or the missing griffon. Thermal tubes were a replacement for wallows and the desert would likely have its own variant of that; the sand wurms for example. Some masteries however will likely never be seen again as they were specific to the zone. Counter magic is going to be a tough one since it’s so common, but for ones like that, they can simply implement an expansion-specific variant.

Next expansion will be the bigger problem. This time it was easy, whereas mounts are a much bigger deal. They could just keep re-implementing them with different abilities, but the simplest option would be to just open the important masteries to everyone after the expansion.

The problem is the slow load time. Why is it slow? Because of the time it takes for the server to compile the page (this isn’t a simple *.html file), which is likely caused by the database. There is nothing you can do to help, as this a server performance problem that only ArenaNet can test. It doesn’t matter that css, js, images or whatever else takes however long to load, as that’s all done after the html is loaded, which is where the main problem is.

Other software was likely interfering. The longer method is using msconfig to disable all non-Microsoft services are and startup programs, then re-enabling a bit at a time until the problem occurs. But first, simply disable your anti-virus/security software and check the CPU and disk usage to see if any other processes were hogging them. To check, press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up the task manager, switch to the performance tab and look for maxed out graphs. If something is maxing it, you can open the resource monitor to see what.

The minimum requirements listed on buy.guildwars2.com is 50 GB. GW2 doesn’t separate expansions, so that’s the total size of the game. For comparison, HoT was listed as 35 GB and the core game was 25 GB.

The current size of the game is around 32 GB, so that makes PoF around 18 GB. The listed requirements have always been ~5 GB higher however, so PoF will likely only be another 12 GB at launch.

If GW2 is already fully installed, the entire expansion is only another ~20 GB according to the requirements. Keep in mind that GW2 only has a single installation, so you’re going to be downloading that beta regardless of if you’re participating. It’ll likely only be 1 GB, maybe 5 at most. Episode 6 was only ~700 MB for comparison.

Check your CPU and disk usage. GW2 downloads ~10 compressed files simultaneously and has to verify them, so it can cause heavy usage. Anti-virus software could be interfering, so whitelist GW2’s folder.

As a lazy test, simply open msconfig (search the start menu) and under the boot tab, check safe boot with network under it, then ok and reboot. You’ll start in safe mode with all non-essential programs disabled, where you can run the launcher without interference. Open msconfig and uncheck safe boot to return to normal.

Find your computer’s specifications (https://support.hp.com). If it happens to be the g7-2054sd notebook, it already has USB3 ports. USB3 ports are generally blue or labeled with USB3 or the SS USB logo. You can also look for the extra pins in the back of a USB3 port.

If that wasn’t your computer, but your computer is a laptop, USB3 can only be added to laptops with a USB3 ExpressCard, which requires an open expansion slot. If you have one, it should be visible on the side and is roughly the size of a few credit cards stacked on top of each other. Without that slot, it’s not possible to add one to a laptop.

If your computer isn’t a laptop, the PCI Express slot is found on the motherboard, which requires opening the case. Simply lookup the specifications to find out.

While you’re at it, look for a eSATA or eSATA+ port. It’s basically an external version of how you would connect a drive internally.

Gw2Setup has a few bugs, one of which causes it to install to its current folder rather than asking you where. Simply rename Gw2Setup-64.exe to Gw2-64.exe and place it wherever you want to install it, for example, C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe.

You have to turn them all on. Here’s the solution for both, assuming a fresh start.

Actually removing someone is simply never going to happen. The followers list only lets you know who has added you to their friends list. Removing them would mean editing someone else’s friends list. If ArenaNet’s going to do anything, they’re simply going to remove the list altogether.

The complete pack adjusts to only include what you’re missing. It’s actually 960 gems in total, but episode 6 is still free. The price is 160 gems per missing episode, which is the standard 200 gems per with a 20% discount on top.

You should first see how much space you’re wasting. Under Computer, right click your drive and choose disk cleanup, then run through it. Look in the %temp% and c:\windows\temp\ folders. You can also disable restore points and hibernate.

If it’s an older computer, you probably don’t have USB3 ports, so an external drive is going to be a lot slower to load things. Longer loading screens and invisible stuff that hasn’t loaded yet that pops up seconds later for example.

Only the core forums are hosted by ArenaNet’s servers. Everything else is through CloudFront’s CDN, which isn’t a problem.

This forum software wasn’t really designed for this scope. It was made by the company Fangamer, which was only a few guys that wanted to make forum software tailored to games. ArenaNet used them for GW2 because they used them in GW1 for their small support forums. ArenaNet hasn’t updated these forums in years because Fangamer abandoned their own software. The recent performance problems are likely down to the database, where purging it may become necessary one day.

Not enough memory. You’ll need to reduce GW2’s settings, especially the model limit and quality, and kill off any other programs wasting memory. When playing, you’ll also want to restart GW2 regularly, after loading into a zone for example, to clear the memory.

Since you’re running a 32-bit OS, your system is limited to 3 GB of memory, which is barely enough and is no longer support. You may be able to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit for free if you really want to.

HoT was $50 by itself. PoF is $30 by itself, not because it doesn’t include HoT. Keep in mind that their new plan is to run the living world and expansions back to back, meaning yearly expansions. $30 every 1-1.5 years >= $50 every 2-2.5 years.

That was also 2 years ago. Their 1 box model was such a bad idea, it’s no surprise they abandoned it. It only caused complaints and wasn’t actually a good deal for new players. What they’re doing with HoT however is even worse for new players, as now you have to buy each individual expansion and season. HoT did so poorly however, they’re probably trying to hide it. They’ll probably end up doing the 2 box model like other MMOs, where PoF+HoT will be $20 with the 3rd expansion.

Heart of Thorns is now a bundle option for the second expansion, for an extra $20.

Press F12 and capture the network traffic to see what’s it doing. The buy page specifically doesn’t require a referrer, at least up to the transaction confirmation.

To be less paranoid on your referrers, use network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy = 1 (rather than simply disabling it with network.http.sendRefererHeader)

The drain should have popped up with counter magic. Counter magic is unlocked through a mastery, which was required to get this far. You do have it? Try using the keybind just in case the icon is simply invisible. You can find the binding under Skills / Special Action.

The complete pack for season 2 dynamically adjusted its price to only include the episodes you had missed and is 20% less than buying the episodes individually. It was released around 3 months after the final episode, or 2 months after HoT was officially revealed.

It’s very likely that there will be a similar package for season 3, but you’ll likely need to wait a few months.

Considering the number is heading towards the limitation of an integer (2^32), if you try to do the event like normal, it should tick up to …296 and overflow to 0.

If you’re not going to really play in the zone, there’s really no point to it. Its randomness can also make it useless. Rarely however, it can by overpowered. Lyssa is a 100% damage reduction for 90s for example, while Grenth is essentially 90s of quickness and Balthazar 90s of increased damage. Dwayna is just a revive on death while Melandru is essentially just a pet.

The problem seems to be with your local DNS provider, which is generally handled by your ISP. I tried to get a sample from Singapore, and some of the providers didn’t have an entry for static.staticwars.com, which would prevent you from accessing that link. Editing your hosts file is how you manually set the IP of a website, rather than automatically through your DNS provider. Judging from the some of the responses however, it has to more than just a DNS problem, but I can’t exactly test that without a sample.

The problem should go away by itself eventually. You can use Google’s DNS instead as a permanent solution, which is going to be more up to date than your default provider. The hosts edit it not something you want to keep permanently. To undo it, simply delete that line.

If you would like to get a sample, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter the following command:
nslookup static.staticwars.com

Then do it again using Google’s DNS:
nslookup static.staticwars.com 8.8.8.8

The IPs you want are listed under non-authoritative answer. You could then test those IPs, which you’d be better off using if they worked, since they’re closer to your location.

Open the currency exchange tab. If you can see the images (Get Gold and Get Gems) but not the exchange below it…

Open notepad as an administrator (search the start menu for notepad > right click > run as administrator) and open the following file:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

At the bottom of the file, add a new line and enter:

Save it. Close GW2 if it was open. Open your %temp% folder (open any folder and enter %temp% into the address bar, then press enter) and delete all folders beginning with gw2cache, then try it.

Prior to doing this, open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter the following:

It should come up with a non-authoritative answer with several address listed below it, or it may simply fail. If it has IPs for staticwars.com, post one of them, but only if you have this problem. You can copy from a command prompt by click and dragging to highlight what you want, then right-clicking to copy

No, but it’s a trivial achievement. Simply let the NPCs die. When not in combat, the wave of enemies will move around the room. You only need to stand in the back and move with them to evade them for as long as you want. If you want to additionally kill them, revive some NPCs at the front while they’re at the back, which will cause Kiera (Anise) to stop moving. She’s immortal, so she can solo the waves for you. Just don’t help her, since you’ll pull them all.

To clarify, the test was to see if you could access the URLs, and you needed to access all of them. static.staticwars.com is the one you seem to be having trouble with, considering your screenshots.

As a quick test, you seem to be failing to load the initial script, so try opening it in Internet Explorer or Edge on Windows 10:

You should see “Mithril v0.2.4” near the top and “mithril.min.js.map” at the end. If you’re prompted to download the file, simply do so and open it with notepad.

If that was the problem, close GW2, delete your cache, and open notepad as an administrator. In notepad, open the file “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts”. At the end of the file, append a new line and enter:

13.32.202.156 static.staticwars.com

Save it. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and enter the following to force an update:

ping static.staticwars.com

It should show the IP 13.32.202.156. Now test it in-game. This isn’t something you’d want to do permanently of course, and that IP will eventually change.

If you couldn’t and still can’t access the above URL however, but could access the 404 page, which should either show a 404 ghost or instance information, someone is censoring your connection.

Why not Firefox? All those links work.

Firefox has its own certificate and DNS rules, so it’s not a great choice to test stuff like this, whereas IE is using the default. Chrome is the best choice in this case however, since it and the in-game browser are based on the same core.

They’re using a CDN, so different areas around the world are going to be using different servers, which is the problem. One of those servers is not accessible. If you knew which one, you could simply edit the hosts file.

Gw2-64.exe should be 32.6 MB (34,201,768 bytes). If it’s similar, try right clicking it and running it as an administrator. To replace it, download Gw2-64.exe (direct from the patch server) and rename it to Gw2-64.exe.

Gliding is required to throw bombs. One of the bomb skills is a multi-hit stun, which is how you’re expected to break the bar. These achievements are only hard because it requires going against the mindless zerg. Nobody tries because there’s no point in trying unless you can get at least 25% of the map to participate. If you want to be successful, the simplest option is gathering 8+ people that are willing to do it and trying to find an empty map.

There will likely never be another new profession. Elite specs are meant to fill that role and when they added the revenant, it was to fill out the 3 weights.

A new race can be very expensive and will forever increase costs due to the voices and multiple languages. The current episode hints at the new risen being not so dumb. They would be one of the cheapest to implement, since they’re just reskinned humans and the voice could be morphed.

Try using Google’s DNS. One of their CDNs probably changed IPs, which can take 24+ hours to propagate to slower DNS providers.

Also delete all gw2cache-* folders located under %temp%, in case it cached a bad response.

They have 3 teams working on 6 month schedules. When episode 5 took an extra month, it meant episode 6 had an extra month to work with. In total, episode 6 had nearly 2 extra months to work with. The episode was bigger though; the story did use a lot of unique instances for example, rather than re-using maps. The other reason they have for delaying however is to simply spread it out. After all, if they want to do a big event again, they’ll need to delay until September 1st (PAX).

They only scheduled 30 minutes for their Twitch reveal, so don’t expect much. They’ll likely talk a bit, about how development went, show the missing trailer and give some thoughts. PAX is September 1st, so I wouldn’t be surprised to only see the trailer ending in that.
