Considering it’s a broken Achievement, and it’s possibly going to be unavailable next week, I think this IS a highly visible issue.
Anything is possible, but the SAB is scheduled to close next month.
If you like sanctum sprint, you can do 1 run every ~3 minutes (leave/rejoin) for 600 karma or 1000 if you win (~10k – 19k per hour).

It has to be bugged. I can’t see it being possible that no one has found it by now. Someone could risk an account ban to see what’s behind all those mysterious holes and doors, but outside of that, I doubt any more baubles will be found legitimately.
Unfortunately, due to the timing, I wouldn’t expect any patches until September 17th.

Did we break Josh Foreman?
Yes, you were mean to him. Also, Josh was too… real… on the forums, so he can’t play anymore.
It was originally a feature, but then…
One thing to note is that, earlier we talked about how we were going allow players to sidekick up in level we actually don’t have that functionality in the game and the reason we don’t have it is because when we were going through the game we thought one of the really important moments in the game was kind of that moment where you ran into something and you weren’t quite powerful enough to overcome it, or skilled enough to overcome it, and we wanted to give people the ability to kind of be able to build their character in such a way that you could by those moments instead of just bypassing them by getting artificially side kicked up a level. And so we don’t have side kicking up anymore in the game anymore except for in WvW. So if you want to think of how our dynamic level adjustment works is that it automatically happens downwards in PvE and automatically happens upwards in WvW. And competitive PvP obviously you get set to equal level everybody. So that’s kind of how that works now
Basically, it cheapens the leveling experience.

If you want to have an even easier time, and make it go faster, just slap him with the whip. No need to run around.
It’s not like you can force people to not create min/maxed speed run groups. There will always be a requirement of some kind.
The LFG tool will be out in a week and it’s cross server, so join one of the many other available groups that doesn’t specifically state they’re doing a speed run. I imagine the tool will be terrible however, since either it will only work across a set group of servers, similar to WvW pairings, or the listings will move by so fast that by the time you click on one, it’s full.
It was found in the dat file. Swimwear was also supposed to be added, but it never was.

The key itself isn’t on sale, they’re offering the pack of 25 at a further reduced price.
1x @ 125 each
5x @ 90 each
25x @ 84 each
Loot is based on what percentage you get his health down to, based on 25% chunks with an extra bonus for winning.

You can see the push hand on the other side of that door, so either there’s a hidden path somewhere, it’s bugged and meant to be opened by the song or it was just a copy/paste door with no purpose. The fact that there is an invisible teleporter makes it that much harder, since there could be more, anywhere.

Nerf the amount of dust in the boxes? No, I’d rather not have to zerg champs all day just to get a fair amount. I’d rather see the boxes only obtainable once per day per character per champion, just like chests.
If they gave something like a mini for completing it, certain people would blow up — see Liadri.
As something that sounded like it was originally intended for the 1%, I’d say they’re trying to reduce the amount of complaints. They could also be trying to reduce the amount of work they have to do. Maybe they’ll add a meta achievement once it’s over, which requires fully completing world 1-4. A mini grumpy cloud sounds about right.
It’s an MMO, not an ARPG. Avoiding the animation doesn’t avoid the attack.
GW2 is an MMO hybrid action RPG. Generally, avoiding the animation does avoid the attack. There are a few exceptions of course, notably homing attacks.
When you shoot a projectile, it predicts where the target will be and shoots in that direction. Once the shot is fired, if the target changes direction, it will cause you to miss. The easy way to side step is by holding Q (stafe left) and tapping E (strafe right).
Stuff needs to scale for real. It makes no sense that the more people you throw at it, the less risk there is and the more rewarding it becomes. A personal looting system without any cap or scaling to account for everyone is a major flaw that promotes zerging.
Take event scaling for example, where with a group of 10, there might be 10 mobs and 2 veterans, whereas with a group of 50, there might be 10 veterans and 2 champions. Not only will the 50 players kill them faster, they also get better loot.
Scaling needs to be entirely uncapped. If 100 people want to zerg a champion balanced around 5 players, then that champion should be scaled to at least 20x its normal to account for every single player. A single auto attack should be able to 1 shot someone and AoEs should take out entire groups. Sitting there and AFK auto attacking should not be an option.
Which personal story are you referring to? I have so far completed multiple paths using different characters and not once have I needed help from anyone.
One of the last personal story steps requires completing a story mode dungeon. But that might change, since they want to evolve the personal story similar to the living story.
The proper way is to probably let him chase you around. However, after breaking his shield, you have a brief moment to attack him, so by using the whip, you can stop his charge.

Get hit by the storm wizard once he’s at 50% or just tired of him chasing you around? Use the whip.
Stand within melee range, predict and reflect his attack using the glove like normal and immediately follow up with the whip. Do a single attack, whip him again and repeat. The entire chasing phase is now nullified and you can kill him that much faster.
Living story meta achievements are meant to be completable by everyone without forcing them to do PvP, dungeons, jumping puzzles or any other major brick wall that people complain out. Instead of creating many easy achievements to account for this, like they used to, they started making dailies so that even the most basic of players can complete it. These achievements are not actually achievements, it’s their way of putting quests into the game without calling them quests.
The SAB is not a temporary living story event. It’s like the gauntlet, a reoccurring activity where the achievements mean more than just “I logged in.”
They could have normal dailies for the SAB, but the only point of that would be to get more people into it.
I think it’s more than just your attacks adding up. I think something can cause him to take increased damage – maybe the lightning. The amount of damage I do in the 1st turn varies, with an average of around 40% remaining. I once got him down to 1% the first time he came down.

Touching the cloud should slap you in the face, which instantly kills you.
The wig drops from mobs, the dress is from jumping puzzle or event chests and the tiara is from dungeon or event chests.
The infinite coin is not a pay to win item in the typical sense of P2W, however, you are basically paying to win. The coin is basically a cheat code, allowing you to make trivial errors without caring. With it, a failing player will always beat the zone as long as they don’t quit, whereas without it, they’re eventually forced to.
That was done as an April Fools joke.
Fishing was already basically confirmed… back in the betas.
Linsey MurdockSome Chefs out there may have noticed that there is not a single recipe with fish in it. Nor do fish in the rivers, lakes, and oceans of Tyria drop fish meat. This was all done intentionally.
We aren’t going to have fishing on release and we may not even have it any time soon (initial expansions/Live updates), but there is a place for it when the time comes.

The dart trap is visibly placed on the wrong side. Stand on the other side of the gong and it won’t kill you.
For the bell, you need to use the glove on the middle one (I think… just hit them all).
The infinite coin is really on needed if you either want a more relaxing time or are planning on being a day 1 achiever/explorer, since that can be costly. If you don’t care about being first however, just watch a guide.
When it comes to farming baubles to get continues, farming gold and just buying the infinite coin is more efficient.
I wish you would’ve said so with Liadri so I wouldn’t have even bothered with it in the first place and just done the fun easy stuff.
They did, during the preview.
I tested this many times. At first, I thought the gong was lagging or the animation was off so I tried several variations of being behind, in front and directly in the middle. Nothing worked. Then I thought, what if it’s actually on the other side… and it was.
This specific trap is on the right side but it’s actually not. If you stand on the left side of the gong as expected, the darts will kill you as they shoot through it. If however you stand on the right side, the darts shoot through you and don’t kill you.
Not sure if it’s bugged… or a trap.
On the 4th ramp down (28s), there’s a dart trap on the right side. It’s a trap. It’s actually on the left side. Bug?
Some people do know about the changes before hand. There’s no question about it. Devs, QA, alpha testers and select people can all gain knowledge of changes beforehand. I can only imagine how much someone like Dulfy could have profited from knowing about, for example, the Zephyr boxes beforehand.
But when it comes to figuring something out, there’s millions of players, so it’s going to happen. In this case, someone was probably just buying cheap greens and accidentally bought a back item and tried anyways. After finding out they could be salvaged, they probably bought every single one. Since the trading post is global, it really only takes 1 player to buy everything, assuming sufficient funds.
There’s really no technical reason why they’re limiting the trading post to 250. Raising it should actually make it a little more efficient, since one request is better than hundreds.
At this current time, it’s possible to implement the ability to buy multiple stacks on the client side by breaking down the order into multiple chunks. It’s fairly easy to implement (don’t ask).
5 minutes of crab toss = 1000 karma for winning, I’m assuming 600 for not winning.
3 minutes of sanctum sprint is also something like that.
Fractal farming is apparently a lot.
Events in Orr were giving me around 400 each (haven’t been there since the dragon buffs).
Mystic forge the red, yellow, green and purple tokens to get a white one imo.
(rainbow ~ prism)
Ascended gear is just a fix for exotics, which were far too easy to obtain. It has to have increased stats, because that’s the point. If they could go back in time, the current exotic tier wouldn’t exist and the current ascended tier would be exotic.
If cosmetics were all people wanted, stat based progression wouldn’t be so popular. Even non stat-based games are doing it, like shooters. It’s simply a clear goal to work towards that includes everyone, whereas cosmetics is a matter of opinion. For example, if you don’t care about the way you look or alternatively, like the way you already look, additional cosmetics are meaningless. Stat progression on the other hand is something that everyone will have to face… eventually.
If GW2 had a skin locker that basically treated every unique skin as an achievement, skins would be treated much differently, though it still wouldn’t appeal to those needing stat progression.
The lazers have always been there, both the ones across the floor and the ones coming down. The ones coming down spawn when starting the encounter. If someone has already opened the “door” they’re not there and you get to skip it.
Not sure what they do since… I’ve never touched them.

Is the gong run meant to be legitimately completable? Either mine was bugged or…
I tried being near the front, back, a second ahead, behind and even if I directly looked and stood in the middle of the gong, the dart trap on the 4th ramp down would just shoot through it.
The one time I decided to just die and catch the ending, I jumped through a dart trap and it did nothing. Since the gong was going through another trap at that point, I’m assuming you actually become immune to darts or they’re disabled when this happens. Maybe the gong’s path/animation is out of sync or something.
I wasted like 5 continue coins trying different things. An infinite coin or the return of 5 full lives when restarting would certainly make it a lot more fun. Considering w3-4 is in the future, an infinite coin sounds like a really good investment.
Would you mind transcribing the exact quote: question and answer? Can’t watch the video ATM.
Question:
“You’re adding a new tier of materials to the game right? For the ascended weapons and armor that is coming out later on. Is there going to be something more ascended gear or something above ascended gear later on? Are you going for that, like very year or two you update the weapons or the next tier of crafting?”
Answer:
“I really hope not. I think that when we put the game out, our hope was that exotic had a certain amount of time it would take to get and I think that we did a really poor job of calculating how long it would take to get them and the effort they required, and they ended up just being a lot easier than what we were hoping for. In some ways they were way harder, like if you’re trying to get them through random drops it’s really hard to get them and if you just go and buy them off the places that are available on a regular basis, they’re really easy to get. You can get them in a week or two, you can equip your whole character out, and we really wanted to find the middle ground between that and exotic was supposed to be that middle ground. It wasn’t and we felt like we had to introduce ascended, basically to get to that point of this is where we want characters to feel like this is the growth they have available to them statistically and so we put ascended in to basically get that in the game.
That being said, I don’t want to promise we’re never going to do it because 7 years from now we might turn around and put in another tier, or someone else might be in charge of the game 7 years from now. But to me, I feel like this should be it. Guild Wars is about getting out there and playing, having fun, playing with your friends. It’s not about being on this endless gear grind that every 6 months we’re putting in another tier of gear you have to go after. So I would say right now our hope would be ascended and we’re going to add more legendaries but they’re no more powerful than ascended gear.
The tiers that we have are what we like. We’re really happy with them, with the time it takes to get them and I don’t see any need, any time in the near future for us to even consider adding another tier of gear."
Note that when it comes to improving gear however, they have plenty of options with infusions. There’s also the possibility of increasing the level cap.
(edited by Healix.5819)
Ascended weapons can drop from WvW keeps, camps, towers, jumping puzzles and champions. Probably about the same drop rate as an exotic.
But, to quote a dev, WvW is unfair. It’s certainly not balanced around 1vs1 so…
Also, if you’re not using full consumables, you’re already basically doing exotic vs ascended.
It’s only against the rules when by “buy” you mean real money outside the game.
If you had all the materials to make it, you’re out of luck. The recipe will probably be changed to include whatever is newly added this Halloween. It could even be completely different.
The infinite coin is to help those that fail at it. You get enough continue coins and baubles to buy them from each zone chest to progress normally. Do you really need more than 15 lives per zone?
What they should have done was not release the infinite coin until a few days from now and be like… here’s a little help.
Infantile Mode is separate from Normal mode. Progress in either doesn’t count for the other.
Either it’s bugged or…
I’m doing normal mode and getting both the normal mode and infantile mode achievements at the same time.
… maybe it’s intended, since doing normal mode and then being told you have to do infantile mode is sort of an insult.
Try Jormag. I’m assuming they’ve scaled the amount.
(waiting on daily reset)
The temples also give the ore (when they previewed it, they said temples gave something else). Grenth is “one of the hardest events in the game” so it should give the maximum. Try that.
(edited by Healix.5819)
Giving you a free 20% and allowing you to select a new stat combo is taking care of it. Furthermore, if you had no use for the set after the change, you can salvage it for dark matter, which is used to create ascended gear.
You know what would have solved all this crap?
A magic-find percentage on party nameplates.
Mind = blown
People complaining about the magic find guy in the group wasn’t the sole reason why it was removed. People felt forced into wearing it.
