That is the source code. The actual app to that code is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=k11.guildwars2eventviewer

Also note that it was last updated around 6 months ago, so it was probably abandoned. You may want to browse google play for any other apps, though with the quick look I did, they all look very basic. I can’t even believe some of them cost anything or include ads while being of such a poor quality.

other ways of getting quartz crystals?

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Healix.5819

A few notes:

Zephyr Sanctum is a returning event, so quartz will be available again, maybe even the home node (though expect it to cost something unreasonable like 25k quartz, because that’s what they’ve been doing).

Quartz will not be used in general ascended gear. Quartz is used to make celestial exotic inscriptions which is used to make ascended celestial inscriptions. This is already known because of ascended weapons. They’re not going to change up the recipes just for the armor.

The least anet could do is post about this explaining why they think it’s a good idea to time gate one set of armor completely different than the rest.

Because if they could go back in time, every exotic set would be time gated. This time gate further time gates ascended celestial however.

Hey, how’d you pull this one off? (pun intended)

By equipping armor that isn’t designed for your race. At one point, you could transmute racial armor and make it non race restrictive, allowing you to run around like that. This was fixed fairly quickly however.

ascended gear logic

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

well exotics were easy to get right from lunch of the game by doing 2-3 weaks of dungeon and there is legendary that is difficult to get not the ordinary gear which by the way made everyone happy both hardcore and casuals.

About a week after launch, I reached 80 with something like 280k karma, but never spent it. I always found it odd that people complained about the lack of karma back then, when I just solo’d events while doing zone completion and had that amount. About 2-3 days later, I crafted a full exotic set by farming T6 materials for about an hour a day (DR).

Around that time, more and more people started complaining on the forums about a lack of endgame. About a month into the game was when it topped out and people were quitting, which made it one of the shortest MMOs I’ve ever seen, since they usually last at least 3 months due to dungeon/raid grinding. A month or so after this, ArenaNet announced ascended gear along with fractals.

The problem with cosmetics is that not everyone cares and that’s what legendaries were. The people that complained wanted power progression (aka ascended gear) and raids. Fractals are meant to be the raid-like progression/grind experience, but without the raid number of people. Most of these people probably quit a long time ago (they were most likely the WoW players).

the infusion slots are most noticeable difference, but in pve the infusions add like 4+power or 4+vitality which is joke.

Let’s say that as a whole, a full set of ascended gear is 10% better than exotics. Later on, maybe 6 months from now, ascended gear will be 15% better than exotics, and then 20% and so on. Infusions may seem weak now, but they are designed to be because they are how ArenaNet is going to add stat progression from now. Ascended sigils and runes will probably also happen at some point.

why only crafting?

Crafting is the one thing everyone has access to, allowing even the most casual of players to eventually obtain it. For now, it’s crafting only because they don’t want a repeat of the exotic problem (drops were hard to get, dungeons were in the middle, crafting was a joke) – they don’t want to accidentally give away ascended gear because one was too easy. If crafting is intended to take X days, they method 2 also needs to be roughly equivalent, which is something they haven’t been exactly good at calculating.

Another reason is to get people to craft. Some crafting materials are produced much faster than they are consumed. They could potentially fix this problem. Maybe they are also going to require crafting for something else later on, so they want to get people ready or maybe they’re trying to get those who haven’t bothered to experience progression through crafting, plus it’s just another gold sink.

This Game is Unplayable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Healix.5819

I used to have a problem with getting disconnected every so often for no reason (in another MMO) and playing other online games worked fine. I could fix it by obtaining a new dynamic IP address, but it would always start to happen within 2 days. The reason was the ISP was flagging the game’s traffic as torrent traffic and throttling the connection, something which an ISP will never admit to. About a month later, they stopped and it never happened again.

If you ever drop to 0 FPS or the game freezes for a few seconds, it could be caused by you computer not being able to keep up with the processing. If you notice pauses while watching streams or you’ve seen downloads get interrupted, you could have an unstable connection. Somewhere between you and the GW2 servers, there could also be an unstable route, though this usually gets fixed within a day.

If you know someone close to you, you can use them to determine if it’s your ISP, your region, the connection to your computer or your computer itself that’s the problem.

Is Meta going away on Tuesday?

in Fractured

Healix.5819

The Fractured meta looks more like a permanent achievement, or they were just lazy. All achievements are color coded and all temporary living story achievements use a purple icon, whereas Fractured uses the dungeon one. However it is just a copy of the fractal category.

In general, you should always assume the meta will disappear on the next patch and any daylies that count will be gone a few days before.

Confirmed: Fractal Weapon Containers are 51+

in Fractured

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

They can easily add levels 51+, it’s just a number change and ideas for the instability. It’s not like they need new fractals for every bracket increase. When they talked about the boxes, they said something along the lines of them being on the harder levels. Maybe they purposely held them back to see how hard the players would find level 50 and due to only taking a few days, they decided it was too quick and therefore too easy.

With the release of ascended gear, I’m expecting level 51+ to begin greatly increasing the AR requirements. I’d also guess 51+ would be released sooner rather than later, because of the gear.

If they increased the level cap, it’d probably be +20 levels and a new Orr type zone would go along with it, such as the Crystal Desert. Don’t expect any news of a level cap increase for the new couple of years though. They still have at least a year’s worth of more progression through ascended. Once they stop adding ascended stuff, expect something to happen.

Healix.5819

If you have the node, you should have more than enough. When exotic celestial gear was first introduced, it was already outdated considering they announced ascended gear shortly after. Either quartz was going to be worthless or used for something else later. When ascended weapons were announced and revealed to use exotic inscriptions, that confirmed that use of quartz. They gave a fairly early warning to stock up.

If you do not wish to buy it, the next source of quartz will be within the next 6 months when the Zephyr Sanctum makes a return.

I think I’d rather just wait for legendary armor to come out. At least with that armor set you’ll never need another.

You shouldn’t assume that. ArenaNet has said that legendaries will be of the highest rarity (aka ascended) and remain the best in slot. A level 80 legendary will always remain a best in slot level 80 legendary, but what about a level 100 legendary? They never said legendaries would scale with your level.

You would like it to be crafted as a boxed set? That would only mean you’d have to gather all those materials up front instead of making it piece by piece. Of course it’ll be crafted in pieces, that’s how crafting works, though it could also come in a box, since they have those recipes for other sets.

For drops, they might not event have any. If they do, it’ll come by piece. If it was a boxed full set, it would have such a low drop rate that it wouldn’t exist.

Healix.5819

I stopped playing this game a year ago, I remember how crowded this fight was. So I go today excited with my magic find tarts ready and what do I find? I’m there alone all by myself. I have no idea what you guys are talking about, guild activate or whatever that is.

Tequatl was redesigned a few months ago to make it more challenging. The encounter was claimed to be balanced around having 80 average players and would scale into the hundreds. Realistically, the encounter is balanced around having a minimum of 80 players that know how to play, because the average player doesn’t.

It’s nowhere near raid hard, but it’s like trying to do a raid with purely random people and no communication. Since a lot of servers were nowhere close to even getting the 1st 25% down (phase 1), they quit after the first week or two and never tried again. The few servers that did do it, and commonly, still do it everyday.

For the servers that do it everyday, they’ve done it enough that communication isn’t needed since most people are regulars. On these servers, you can just show up, though you should be at least 30 minutes early, or an hour to get on the main server.

Also, magic find only affects the drops you would receive from mobs and the mobs in Tequatl’s encounter no longer drop anything (to prevent farming).

that make no sense !

Leaderboards will not be released until enough data is collected.

The top players on the leaderboards will remain there for a while, and yes, the #2 person could be way better and complete them faster, but that doesn’t matter. The leaderboard is styled after world 1st raid completions. The top spots won’t stay that way forever however. They have plans to add additional levels, at which point another race begins.

They could add more leaderboards, like one for every dungeon to track quickest completions, but that’s another thing.

Healix.5819

Although I doubt they will, if they make it an unlimited master’s level kit at 3c per use, that would be the best deal they’ve offered for any of the unlimited use items. At the current cost of around 48.4g, it would only take around 22 months for it to start paying for itself (for me). The more rares you salvage, the better it gets, since you’re saving 58c per use. Personally, I use around 1 mystic kit per month for rares and 2, maybe 3 basic kits a day, where maybe 50% of those uses are on greens.

If they come out and say it’s intended, especially at 3c per use for rares, I’d buy one. Otherwise, it’s as bad as the unlimited gathering tools and the alternate “unlimited” options are far better.

2. If it turns back to basic, you can get a refund from ANet due to the product changing after you purchase it.

The kit is advertised and sold as a basic kit with unlimited uses at 3c per use. If they come out and admit there was a bug with salvaging caused by a recent change that affected the kit and then fix it, the original product still hasn’t changed.

Flamekissed Armor - (Purchased)

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Simply sending a splitter in the mail isn’t going to work for everyone since a splitter is only going to get the Flamekissed skin and the original armor back. It won’t be able to get any previously applied skins. Gaile has stated that support will take care of everyone’s individual needs.

One person who has claimed to receive a refund already said that they received their gems back as well as a full set of T3 armor as replacement for their old skin.

I have recently purchased the Flamekissed armour, and I was wondering if it would be an option to allow those who have purchased the new skin to “choose” whether or not they would like their current Flamekissed skin to take on the current or “new” art.

The thing is, we can’t make it an either/or situation, and the devs feel that the best course is to change the armor. It would be nice to say “Change if you want” but that’s not feasible. So the Flamekissed Armor Skin will be reworked. And when it is, you guys are welcome to share your thoughts and to let Customer Support know what they can do for you. (No, “a new car and a couple of free pizzas” isn’t going to be on the table. )

I understand this is sort of a hot topic right now, but again, there’s nothing to lose by waiting for a look-see at the new armor set, and there may be something to gain! It’s certainly what I would do and I encourage you to think of doing the same.

The only hard part about Tequatl is having a zerg’s worth of competent players. If Tequatl was balanced around actual level 65s instead of 80s, it’d be a lot different. With a perfect team, you don’t even have to worry about poison because they’re all negated or reflected, whereas in a pure PuG, there’s none of that. The poison damage could be toned down to make it more friendly, considering getting hit by multiple fields can 1 shot you before they even appear, though you can predict them.

If they want a majority of the servers doing it, they need to actually make it scale for around 20 people, double the timer or add a mechanic that will let a few carry the many. Mainly, there needs to be an alternate way to get Tequatl’s health down.

The only complaints I see about the other dragon events is that you have to auto attack them for too long (but that’s partially because most people are AFK). There is no challenge with them.

Healix, why do you come with a single tweet when dozens of post/emails state the opposite?

Notice I said selling spots was okay? Didn’t think so.

A lot of people seem to not be able to comprehend what the tweet said versus what has been said. Selling dungeon spots is perfectly fine. If people want to offer that service to other players, ArenaNet is not against it, unless of course their service involves griefing anyone. What the tweet specifically said was that using the LFG tool to advertise their service was considered reportable. She never said selling spots was reportable. People must only read the first few words then spaz out.

I have yet to see a counter to that tweet. It would be great if there was one, since it would state that abusing the LFG tool was considered ok, considering that she called it abuse.

But really, while I wouldn’t mind it, assuming the above limitations are implimented, right now, what exactly would be the point of a level cap increase? If they want to do it, fine, but make sure it’s not “just for the sake of it”.

A level cap increase would only be to introduce new gear. There’s really no other reason to increase it. If they wanted to give you more traits, there’s alternate ways.

When ascended gear was introduced, they noted that normally, it was something they would have only done in an expansion, but there was an exotic emergency back then and they were forced to due to complaints. Once they’re completely done with ascended, included all the upgrades they can possibly throw on (ie, ascended infusions, runes, sigils), they will either do nothing (dropped the thought of vertical progression), increase the level cap or add another tier like ascended all over again. This won’t happen for another year at the very least, and I wouldn’t expect it to happen for another 2-3 years. Something major has to happen first.

If they were to increase the level cap, and not give you new gear, you would be weaker than you are now due to how scaling works.

So lvl 90 coming soon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

I never understood why you needed so many levels wouldn’t a lvl 40-50 cap be enough? What’s with the need for 80+?

GW2 chose a high level cap because the idea was that obtaining levels quickly was more fun than grinding levels slowly.

Would you rather have 80 levels where you level up roughly once every hour or 20 levels at roughly 4 hours each? Both methods would result in the exact same character, trait points, skills, etc.

If GW2 did increase the level cap, they would probably do +20 levels, maybe +40 depending on what zones were unlocked with it.

Forced gear check making Agony pointless?

in Fractured

Posted by: Healix.5819

Healix.5819

Fractals are meant to be something like a raid where you need to get the gear in order to progress. It’s meant to appeal to that type of player. Infusions are the vertical progression of fractals, rather than the higher tiers of gear you would normally see in other MMOs.

Considering they’re going to release leaderboards, which will remain stagnant, I’m expecting them to regularly add new fractal levels. Maybe something like 1 level every other week or a tier a month, as long as people reach the end that is. It wouldn’t take much development time after all to increase a number, though coming up with unique names/instabilities will become more challenging over time. With each tier, they’ll probably do what raids usually do and multiply the requirements needed, which in this case is agony resistance.

The ability to skip instabilities sounds broken since they’re like tests. Eventually, they’ll probably include multiples of them and ones like Agonizing Expedition will be made permanent.

Last I heard, Anet has already said if they dislike the new flamekissed that they aren’t getting their T3 armor back – it’ll revert to the original exotic armor. Skin is lost. Forever. They have to rebuy it.

That is only an assumption due to the fact that a player by themselves cannot revert the skin, since a splitter will only give you back the item’s original skin.

ArenaNet has said that if you do not like the new skin, you can get a full refund and that support will take care of your individual needs, which implies they will fully fix the problem.

There are a few areas in the game where mobs are right on a border, so if you move farther towards the level 23 area, you should be 23. The same can also happen in reverse. I was in an area once where I was something like 50, and the mobs were a low 40. The funny thing about it is they die similar to critters.

In other cases, you may encounter higher level enemies when an event is being scaled for many people, though it’s only usually +1-4 levels.

It’d be more like buying a knockoff. It looks similar to the original, but has more features to make it look better, even though it actually isn’t.

People accept that IRL all the time, because they’re cheaper, and in some cases, it makes them look like they have the more expensive one.

They do refund gem purchases as long as the gems have not yet been used and were purchased using a refundable source. In this special case, since it’s their error, they should refund your gems and then allow you to refund the gems.

I’m not sure how they’re going to handle people that transmuted over transmutations, considering a splitter isn’t going to fix it. They’re going to have to offer not only a refund, but also a free armor set, credit or do a rollback by hand, which will cost them a lot of support hours.

Their best bet is to create a new custom (not a reskin) T3 look alike, or one that is considered more awesome, to avoid the problem.
