Making it account bound was just a quick fix with no thought. When the SAB was first released, using new characters to farm the chests was something they were okay with, but planned on fixing for next time. At that time, they talked about possibilities like making the rewards scale based on how much stuff you had done, so that speed running it wasn’t very rewarding.

Personally, I farmed the SAB using new characters just to get shorter and shorter times. I probably won’t be doing that this time due to feeling like I’m getting nothing out of it. There was really no profit in doing it at the time and RNG played a huge role. After however many runs of doing W1 Z1-3, I stocked up on 250 obsidian shards and another ~300 bauble bubbles. I ended up with 8 rare skins. In comparison to today, mindlessly farming champions would have been much, much more profitable and taken way less effort.

To date, all solo content that could be farmed, regardless of difficulty, has been nerfed.

If this was on a personal level and each 25% factored your contribution, it could stop people from running in at the last second or just standing off to the side until it’s over and getting full credit with 0 effort.

If 80 people are required, is Tequatl’s chest (not the bonus one) lootable more than once a day? If not, not enough people will show up after prime time, especially on the lower pop servers.

T7 ore/cloth/leather is crafted using lower tier ore/cloth/leather.

The other T7 materials are obtained by completing dragon events, temples and defeating champions. Since you need 500 of each of these per ascended item, I’m assuming each event/bag drops a set amount, which is hopefully adjusted based on difficulty (something they are now starting to do, beginning with Tequatl). How many is dropped is unknown. Obtaining these items will probably take you longer than the time gates required to fully craft an ascended item, which is 9 days or 5 if you trade.

T7 blood/fangs/etc and lodestones do not exist. T6 blood/fangs/etc is needed to create T6 inscriptions which is used to make T7 inscriptions.

Champion bags are going to get nerfed in some way, it’s only a matter of time. Zerging champions one after another and purposely failing to farm them can’t be what they want. It can also be just as profitable as farming Deadeye was if you didn’t have a private arena, so the nerf should be expected. Looking at the Tequatl changes, those champions don’t drop anything, so something will happen.

Watch them go the gauntlet route again by taking the silver out of the bags and making champion loot awarded through the UI chest. The ascended item won’t be put into the old bags of course, only the new UI chest.

Unlike Deadeye though, nerfing champion bags would affect the majority, since for the last 2 weeks, they’ve basically told everyone to go out and zerg. Furthermore, they’ve given a reason to not open these bags right now. They’ll probably go with a daily champion chest through the UI and not change the old bags.

Yes, when you activate Tribulation Mode, you know exactly what you’re doing.

When the majority open up the achievements and see one for completing tribulation mode, they’re going to want to get those achievements, especially those leaderboard heroes that always complain.

Because of this, a lot of people are not going to know what this is, rage and complain about it, just like Liadri, but probably worse. There should probably be a warning in-game and the achievements should be hidden until activating this mode.

Yes. That’s also how people get the necro face on other characters.

Those materials are the easy part. Now you need 500x champions, 500x dragons, 500x temples.

Updating the loot tables is the easiest way, so current boxes will probably have the mats in them. Gear boxes might not however.

Further increasing the value of champion boxes is going to be a problem, so expect them to be nerfed in some way. For example, they might reduce or remove the silver or the green item in them or put a daily cap on obtaining them. It’s only a matter of time.

And yes, they will change the content of them without warning, since they’ve done it before.

It was fully intended that not everyone would be able to complete the gauntlet. During their preview of it, they basically said that Liadri’s mini was a way to show off – when you see it, you know they’re good.

The gauntlet was not the main content (content designed to be completable by everyone) for this living story. It was just a side activity introduced through it. Content like this, especially when it’s solo, is very rarely made since it doesn’t cater to the majority.

If you have a problem with hard achievements, I highly suggest you don’t look at the next SAB achievements. Its hard mode is basically designed for the 1%. It is full of cheap deaths that you can only avoid by knowing where they are.

I haven’t done it in a while, but my average time was around 18 minutes. After selling off everything (TP), I’d usually end at around 20-24 minutes. I would start the tutorial with a full set of level 1 gear, axe + warhorn. This was back in like December though.

Sharing your account with anyone outside of your house is considered a violation. You will also need to authenticate any new locations, assuming your account is setup.

If you’ve bought gems and selected to remember your credit card, they could probably buy gems.

Someone asked if there’ll be other SPvP types such as assault, capture the flag, etc.

Colin answered that they want to make SPvP easily watchable so that you can see the score, know who’s winning, etc. He ended it by saying adding different modes isn’t out of the question, aka one day it might be added. (all of what he said has been said before)

The first part of his answer didn’t really make sense, since capture the flag and assault are easily watchable? If you have no clue what you’re looking at, those two are much easier to watch imo.

It won’t. Everyone is treated equally in the open world. If I solo a champion and you zerg it down with 100 people, we get the same rewards even though I put in 100x the effort and time. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works.

Besides spamming chat about how you’re awesome like some guilds do, no. Unless you’re fielding 50+ people, you’re not really coordinating anything. There’s like 300 people in that zerg and they’re going to do whatever they want.

Adjusting the loot table is easier than creating a new bag for all those champions, though I guess they could make 1 generic bag for all of them and scrap the whole go here to get that thing.

They will probably remove the money and add the ascended material. Take your pick.

Since the Trading Post is just a website, I assume this was the original plan. They kind of scrapped that idea however when they discontinued the extended experience and went with a public API instead. One day, they will probably release a public API for the TP, allowing for such an app to be created – just not by them.

That said, such an app can already be created with 100% functionality. The only problem however is that you need to leave your client logged in somewhere and it would probably be considered a violation, but technically, so is gw2spidy. Placing buy orders is actually quite simple and can be done by anyone. Interacting with actual items, such as selling an item, is much harder.

There’s going to be a lot of rage when people see that there’s achievements for completing this mode. I hope there’s a title at least.

The one problem I’m expecting is respawning. In the example games, it’s instant, no problem. In the SAB however, you’ll either have to get hundreds of continue coins and go through the death sequence or reset the instance and go through all that loading/motos speech.

Considering Liadri is part of the achievements and you’ll be able to complete all the achievements next year, it’s pretty safe to assume she’ll be back. The difficulty might change however (buffs, nerfs, ascended gear, possibility of not being in the domes next time).

You can use the leaderboards to determine when someone was last online. If you don’t want to go through them manually, you can try this.

Considering the ability to do this has been available for a long time now, they should have really implemented it in-game by now.

It’s not known what exact stat combinations you can choose from. They only previewed legendaries, which could choose from all current combinations.

Existing magic find gear will allow you to select the stat combination you want when the patch comes out. Explorer’s gear made after the patch won’t exist and will be Assassin’s instead.

Buy all the components from people that don’t care about ascended gear. The 2 weeks of crafting daily components suddenly drops to nothing. You just need to supply the account bound components from temples, dragon events and champions.

Charged Quartz is used as a material… well… kind of. If you want celestial ascended gear, you’ll need an ascended celestial inscription and a component of that is the exotic inscription, which uses the crystals.

Ascended gear is not tradable. This was confirmed in the looking ahead preview last month.

I think the best solution for this would be to make super-expensive Exotics like Infinite Light or Mjolnir Ascended weapons too. That way they can continue to be sold on the TP, since their stats can be freely adjusted when necessary.

fyi, only legendaries get the ability to freely switch stats. It’s possible to switch stats on other items, but a gem store item is required. Also, all ascended items are account bound by design, since the whole point is to make you work for them over a length of time.

The baubles you collected within the SAB varied in color. Blue ones were the most common, which you would find everywhere. The other colors were green, yellow, red and purple, where purple was the most rare and valued at 50 points.

Because it’s not a skin. The design represents what weapon it makes when put into the mystic forge along with the other 3 components from the end of each zone.

Probably only crafted items, ones that use insignias, will be made account bound. This is probably why the example they gave was a crafted item and why you’d be able to choose any other crafted stat combo. Everything else will probably just have the magic find on it updated, similar to how celestial gear is simply getting it removed. I really can’t see them returning and making account bound the millions of green/rare/exotic items that have a little bit of magic find on it.

If I take a red, yellow, green, blue and purple skin and somehow cram them into the mystic forge… can I get a white one?

John, will there be a solo mode of the tribulation difficulty? I really hope so! If that is the case, I would hope the skins are not tradeable. If it’s a forced group setting, I hope they will be.

The SAB was always a solo adventure that simply allowed for groups. It is based on solo games after all. If anything, tribulation mode shouldn’t even support groups, since that could potentially trivialize it.

The skins will most likely not be tradeable. That’s the whole point of hard modes – to show something off.

The Crown Pavilion, the zone that houses the gauntlet, is closing on September 3rd. The gauntlet will no longer be accessible at this time. At a later date, the zone will open again, possibly with more bosses, and the current achievements will once again be completable.

The gauntlet has its own category because it wasn’t made to be completed by everyone. They didn’t want people to feel they had to do the gauntlet to complete the Jubilee’s meta achievement.

These weapons and armor will also be able to be found as rare drops from locations in the world. Ascended weapons and armor will remain account-bound like other ascended gear.
