I think they should implement city events that do not require battle. Like fetch quests, timed deliveries and such…
This is my Warrior. I call the armor set in the first picture the Corrupted Ice and it looks best along with Corrupted weapons.
For instance, she wields a Corrupted Skeggox with her right hand, and I made it look as if the corruption had spreaded to her whole arm and eye.
In the second picture it’s her Holy themed PvP set.

By the way, what will happen to toys? Will they become tonics?
I’m from Italy and today I’m having a similar issue.
Independently of the area I’m in, the game has random extreme lag spikes that sometimes lead to full disconnections, thus making the game unplayable.
Speedtest and Pingtest both give normal results.
(edited by Hermes.7014)
Have you tried meddling with the gamma settings?
What type of lag are you experiencing? Graphic or connection lag?
Have you tried reseating your video card?
If you want to save money, I’d recommend you to build or rather have someone build a PC for you, in case you’re not well versed on the matter. Custom systems well built are usually better all around and cheaper than OEM. Downside is that you don’t get an OS included.
I remember developers saying something about more languages in an interview… but that was before release and no more words were ever spent again about that matter.
Now I guess it’s either the last of their concerns, or they just gave up the idea of additional localizations. All I know, is that if it’s a matter of money, then NCsoft is due for that.
If they ever need an Italian translator anyways, I’ll be up for the job.

I did the same, but with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. I used to play V1 and had some crysta left so I decided to go ahead and use them for a month.
GW2 now has probably spoiled me, but as soon as I saw the gear treadmill my will to play ARR was reduced almost to zero. Sure the game looks nice, you can’t deny it has better graphics than GW2 overall, but on the other hand, in comparison of gameplay it’s another bucket of fish.
In addition to gear treadmill, you also have to deal with alot of elitism over equipment level, because yes, equipment doesn’t have tiers, it has levels and they can go well above the traditional class/job level by even double. If you want to do dungeons and instances, prepare for people requesting you certain pieces or level of gear.
Oh and you’re also forced to party play to advance in your personal story. How cool is that.
I disagree. I was never an achievement hoarder. Actually, I only cared for points to unlock skins, and now Hellfire/Radiant boots are going to be even more distant than they already were.
Thank you for this change… not.So… they’re actually an achievement to get now? gasp
Nasty sarcasm aside, I am glad for this change. As much as I enjoy toting how much AP I have in competition to others, this will help keep the AP system balanced, not a matter of who constantly logs in.
For those who collect skins, yes.
Achievements are not a job for me. I couldn’t care less about others having more AP than me because they’ve done more dailies and monthlies than me. This is also why I don’t give a kitten about the leaderboards.

Fascinating…. so WvW really has no opportunity cost anymore for the average zerg player, since the Waypoints are free. I always thought in open world it was a little odd you had to die, pay waypoint, and then pay repair.
Unforunately this take all the risk out of dungeons. Also the effect on the economy…
Taking away the risk of spending 11 silver at worst? Wow, that’s so game breaking.
The only people that was punished by that was the new and inexperienced players, as written in the blog post
Anybody feel like transcribing the first 50 seconds of this?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSmoopV__iA
I’d love to play Answers on flute in GW2.
I just hope the new free and everywhere trait refund will not create situations in which builds get changed on-the-fly during instance runs.
Good thing I don’t get immersed enough in video games that I confuse my real world morals with theirs.
Though not in this case, in some works of fiction you can see better examples of morals than in real life.

And I can’t make an ascended spinal blades because the only NPC that sold the recipe was removed. -_-
They didn’t remove Miyani.
I was talking about the guy that traded them for 250 Found Belongings… but I didn’t know MIyani sold them too for gold.
And I can’t make an ascended spinal blades because the only NPC that sold the recipe was removed. -_-
Hahah, it’s sir. But thank you. :P
When I first saw Taimi, the first thing I thought was that the writers would have rooted for the “Kill the Cutie” trope of fiction.
I know right. Cruel, heartless, indeed, yet very effective on human emotions.
Now now, I don’t really know if that was really the ultimate fate planned for our little Taimi (and I bet my fellow writers here are sure hellbent on not letting out a word about it :P), but if it was, could Christina’s post have changed something? I wonder.

Jory and Kas are still worlds above anything Bioware has ever written
Can not compute.
He’s allegedly claiming that the affair between Kasmeer and Marjory is better script than anything Bioware’s writers could come out with in the Mass Effect series.
Since this is the second time (third if we count the rise of Orr) around Lion’s Arch has been wrecked up, I was wondering if Lionguard Lyns will make her return with donations and such to rebuild Lion’s Arch after all of this will be over. It would make sense, you know…

Also how about the other characters and enemies that appeared in the living story? I had some expectations for them at least.
Canach. He was there in Lion’s Arch until the attack, and I sincerely expected him to become an ally and help out against Scarlet’s minions, since he wanted so much to be the hero.
So what happened to him? If I was the one writing the living story I’d have given him a last role in this.
Mai Trin. I expected her to make a last stand before Scarlet, who allowed her to live only if she protected her up until the end.
Instead it seems she’s just gone who knows where…
Ellen Kiel. She hasn’t appeared once during the final attack. But that still may be plausible, as she’s probably busy commanding the Lionguard, while sending Magnus on the field in her stead.
That explains pretty much… nothing. We all came to the conclusion her goal was the dragon before. The real question is: why?

I’m not going to judge on gameplay, but I will pronounce myself about the story since, actually trying to make a living out of writing novels, I’m quite into the field.
So I’m going to give it a 5/10 and that’s for me a pretty high of a score already.
The living story works, as it does have the capability to keep you interested in knowing what’s going to happen next, however there is information left unclear, outright confusing, or events that feel plainly wrong.
Like Scarlet’s ultimate target and what happens right before her death. Right when she is about to reveal what was behind all her evil doings… here comes Braham saying “ain’t nobody got time fo dat” and the great heroes of Tyria just proceed to kill her before she can tell her “magical secrets” to everyone.
Well that’s a classic by the book, we’ve all seen that before. I’m sure the story writers want people to find out everything through the next story chapters, but Braham acting like a complete kittenbag there felt quite forced and cliché.
Gathering information on an enemy is always useful, and there’s no way in reality you’d have refused to listen to her revelations, which, in most cases, would most likely turned out to be true. For what sake should a dying individual lie anyways? Unless it means protecting something or someone else still alive. But who would she protect, the dragon? Come on. There were a million other ways to prevent Scarlet from telling the truth, if that’s what they wanted.
The kiss scene between Marjory and Kasmeer… yes, it fits the moment indeed, but… I mean, we could’ve lived without it or the whole love affair. Now I’m not an homophobe, but it all feels forced to follow some trend going on with the media lately, only because it draws attention.
Last but not least: Caithe’s untold secret, so dark she goes berserk on Scarlet to prevent others from knowing it. Well, Scarlet’s dead now and nothing else was anymore told about it. Uh, yeah, where’s Caithe anyways? It looks like everybody just forgot about her after the events of Twilight Arbor.

ANet, please clarify on laser achievement:

If the unavoidable lightning strikes count then this achievement is a bad joke. You have no way to tell if the lightning is going to hit you and plus, yesterday I’m pretty sure I dodged, and it downed me during the dodge animation.

I have some suggestions regarding the achievements…
No more tricks, Scarlet: Add simple red edges around scorch marks in the Prime Hologram battle.
In Tune: Prime Holograms should be entirely invulnerable to non-attuned players and it shouldn’t count as a fail unless they’re hit by an incorrectly attuned player.
Six months ago Scarlet was so kind to send me a gift, and since I’ve appreciated it so much I wanted to be kind in exchange, and gave her a gift myself.
I’m sure she appreciated this last token of friendship.
Well, Jessica was in this episode, and that was enough of a reason for me to watch it.
Is she going to be in the next as well?

I posted the first question in the Audio forum as well, but since there’s this topic and it was intended for developers, I’ll post it here as well.
1) I was wondering if the track “Here be Dragons” featured in the battle against Zhaitan will be used again in the future battles with other elder dragons. It’s a pity such an epic track is heard only once in the personal story.
2) As another question, after Soule left his position as composer for Guild Wars, who has replaced him?
3) Are there plans to furtherly improve the custom soundtrack feature in Guild Wars 2? Perhaps making playlists more specific and situational? (Ambient based by area, PvP battles, etc…)
I’ll take it… along the “Savior of Tyria” title that somehow wasn’t given for completing the personal story after slaying Zhaitan, an elder dragon.
I’d just add a dye slot for the blue areas as well.
Charr don’t have any good looking armor? Their tier 3 cultural heavy is probably the best looking armor in game.
This is probably a question only developers may be able to answer. However, I was wondering if the track “Here be Dragons” featured in the battle against Zhaitan will be used again in the future battles with the other elder dragons. It’s a pity such an epic track is heard only once in the personal story.
The last that has been heard about it was back in July last year, in articles like this: http://www.vg247.com/2013/07/02/guild-wars-2-next-gen-consoles-and-the-mmo-conflict/
In those interviews Mike Zadorojny exprimed that “There’s a barrier to entry when you’re talking about a subscription for an online service. With Guild Wars 2 you play the game for free. The console model conflicts with that.”.
This statement refers to the fact that you need a subscription to PSPlus in order to play online games, and it is outdated. There are already free to play online games with microtransactions (just like GW2) that can be played on the PS4 without a Plus subscription, such as Warframe and Blacklight Retribution.
Why can’t Arenanet go this way as well? There are many console players that I bet would like to play their game. Many were waiting for a Ps3 version that never made it out.
Some people still seem to be missing the point.
A scythe works as a weapon… because it’s a game. It’s fiction and fantasy, with magic and oversized greatswords. In fiction, scythes are generally considered cool, no matter how awful they may be in real life.
Oh, and scythes that commonly appear in fiction aren’t really scythes but are more like big two-handed sickles.
Discussing about the effectiveness of a weapon in a fantasy game, I see. Then how about those buster sword-sized greatswords?
Anyways, I’d definitely want to see a new version of the dervish matching the lore of GW2.
Sony does the same with PSN purchases. Convenient, huh?
I call it’s going to become a fractal boss, scaled down to 5 players, most likely one per lane.
Also, for a suggestion:
A “Hime” hairstyle for Norn and Human females.
Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hime_cut
I want armor like this. (ice effects)
Watch that happen in a few years, when Jormag related content is released.
Ah, I know right. I wish there were legendaries obtainable through challenges of skill. Instead of “Here’s your legendary weapon for your legendary farming and crafting deeds!”
I believe I suggested this some time ago but I don’t know how much they took it into consideration…
It’s fiction. You should also ask yourself why are they speaking english…
I agree. The custom soundtrack function should be revised and improved. I understand they want to give major importance to their own soundtrack, but nowadays customization is an important feature users very much always appreciate.
Make this happen anet, and I will be a happy Tyrian.
Or rather an old school scrolling shooter minigame… like Tyrian! (pun intended ofc)
It would be serious intense fun!
(edited by Hermes.7014)
I’m afraid you will have to wait til this year’s Christmas to get it.
I’m not sure if this has been reported before, but the Champion Giant that assaults the town of Nageling in Diessa Plateau is unaffected by petrification dealt by Basilisk Venom. When connecting the venom, the negative condition icon under the health bar appears, same goes for the petrification visual effect, yet the giant keeps moving as if nothing happened.
The minis have matching animations with their true mob/NPC equivalent. If the original NPC is able to swim, then the mini also should be able to.

Now you know that all the times you experienced lag was because of those dreaded pesky fire elementals!
