Tailoring here, and yeah I’m pretty sure I’ve got enough mats set aside.
I would really like to know which commanders on dzagonur are supposed to be in that alliance.I know every commander and every player that is worth mentioning on EB and I can assure you nothing like that happened there
I would like to know which of the DL commanders were involved. They sold out their server.
I’m sorry but you were right. There is an alliance between DL and DZ -_- that sucks really and i’m p*ssed. Sry that some of us are doing such a bad play. That’s no fairplay.
At least someone has enough dangling googlies to admit what’s going on.
On the other hand this should be a lesson to RoF. We have to go after the 3rd place server as well, cap and hold their keeps, and not just focus on the 1st place server “because that’s where the good fights are”.
sPvP is over there —-—→
if it’s a JP style content update I will be furious I hate those things with a passion…
Unfortunately, Anet is not mentally capable of producing new material that doesn’t have a jumping puzzle. The follow a checklist for all this stuff, because they have to.
1. Boss is a walking pile of hitpoints? CHECK!
2. Boss has Defiant? CHECK!
3. Boss has a one shot kill mechanic? CHECK!
4. Boss is completely immune at least once during the encounter? CHECK!
5. Boss needs an environmental weapon to remove that immunity? CHECK!
6. We put an environment weapon in the dungeon? CHECK!
7. There’s a jumping puzzle in here somewhere? (you know it’s going to be there).
Let’s call it an achievement!!!
The peeps will love it (and it’ll be really good for the metrics too…)!!!
I utterly detest jumping puzzles. They are pointless, tedious and frustrating. In WvW they serve no purpose except to drag unwilling victims into WvW to feed griefers.
I am sorry you find jumping puzzles too challenging.
Life is too short to spend any amount of time yelling at your monitor. Many of us simply can’t jump and no amount of practice has helped so far. Fortunately I’m in a helpful league with a lot of mesmers.
And please let me say it again, jumping puzzles have no place in WvW.
These achievements could and should be replaced with defensive actions, but Anet doesn’t have a clue how to reward players actually playing defense. It’s all about the zerg (and jumping puzzles…).
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
Don’t worry too much about your own confusion. Anet is also confused.
The vast majority of these “league” matches will be decided within the first half hour of the reset, exactly the way WvW has been for a couple of months now. For some reason Anet doesn’t seem to understand that.
Poor you. I detest the clock tower jumping puzzle. Guess what’s in the daily today?
I can’t jump to begin with. Literally, “can’t jump worth kitten”. So it makes perfect sense that today in the daily we have the clock tower…
Mixing the story and dailies was a bad idea to begin with, now it’s really kitten ing me off.
Does anyone else have a case to make in favor of or against the new Halloween event?
I’ve got plenty of words to say about this event, none of which would ever be permitted on this forum.
The achievements are possible without ever “having” to be in, say, a 20+ group. I see only 3 that I think would require a large group.
Anyone can flip an undefended tower with 3 to 4 people. A keep, maybe 5.
My point is even one defender can substantially slow those people down with an AC. So why is there nothing for that guy who is trying to hold on to a tower he built?
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
1. Those guides depend on trading post prices for their formulas and crafting advise. They assume you’re going to buy everything needed from the trading post. There are cheaper ways to go about it
2) I believe the only things we can craft are Lump of Mithrillium, Deldrimor Steel Ingot, Glob of Elder Spirit Residue, Spiritwood Plank, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord and Elonian Leather Square. Is this correct? And with the once a day requirement won’t this be slow?
Completely incorrect. You can only craft those items after you reach level 500, and we still can’t craft those leather based items. At least, weaponsmith and artificer can’t. I haven’t finished Huntsman yet.
3) Many people in these threads mentioned the diminishing returns making this indefeasible past a point though some people say they made it all the way from 450 to 470. About how many of these would we need to craft to get to a good stopping point (460,465, 470 whichever is feasable)? I want to try to calculate how much this stage will cost me and how many days I will have to wait with the time gating.
From 400 to 425 you craft ancient logs to planks and Ori ore to ingots. One stack of each material should be enough to reach level 425 if you’re using maximum crafting boosters.
From 425 to 450 you have to “discover” around 8 or 9 exotic weapons from the craft you are leveling (also using maximum crafting boosters). Artificer can also discover a number of potions. It’s also possible here to discover rare level gear but the crafting xp isn’t all that good.
From 450 to 475 you can craft all your bloodstone stuff, dragonite and empyreal stuff. That stuff turns white at 475 and you get no more crafting xp from crafting them.
From 475 to 500 you’ll have to “discover” around 12 exotic weapons, or a lot of rares, or for artificing, potions.
After 500 you can start to craft Lump of Mithrillium, Deldrimor Steel Ingot, Glob of Elder Spirit Residue, Spiritwood Plank and they weapons that use those materials.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
It’s kills, and captures; 1 badge spender and 1 repair achievement, and of course all 4 of the kittening jumping puzzles, but not one of these achievements is based on actually claiming, upgrading or defending anything.
The zerg wins again.
How typical. Emergency patch in 3… 2… 1…
Nope. The manifesto was a lie. Anet will not see any more of my money.
Game gold for coin mall items? Sure, but real euros? Nope.
They never tell us exact times in advance
How about they just lose the time gates completely and we can all get back to playing the game the way we want to play it?
It would solve the problem, but I believe Anet wants to force you to play different parts of the game in order to get these materials…
Yup, they’ve been going this way for a while now. More and more, we’re playing the game the way Anet wants it played. This will backfire hard with the next great thing, and it can’t come soon enough for me.
One up, One down is the obvious answer here, but this is Anet. They have “metrics”.
I have no idea what “metrics” are, but Anet has them. I hope it’s not contagious.
What exactly is the complaint about? that it is too HARD to get?!
it isnt too hard, just too long for a daily
It took me close to 4 hours the first time we got this one. I play a lot of defense and scouting, and zerging WvW is the only way to rewards.
Anet simply has no idea how to reward anything except the zerg.
Not true, a 5 man roaming group gains Wexp faster than a zerg.
And how much WxP do you gain while sitting at the south Hills gate watching for golems? Or perhaps the garrison watergate is better?

I won’t get this one done today either. It’s yet another rollover week for our server and I’ve had enough for today. The solution of course to horde the wxp consumables for the day it’s needed. Sucks, but that’s Anet daily stuff for ya.
When your army is large, appear small. Do not PvD.
When your army is small, appear large. Split up and hit many places at once.
Basic strategy at work.
Bloodstone dust is Anet’s way to tell players to go do something else. Farm the champions if you want, but you’re not going to get the mats you need for Ascended gear.
But you know, “play the game the way you want”.
Treb Bot. I reported it almost a year ago and got the usual fan boy response.
I was infracted and the thread got removed too. Strangely enough, the treb bots are still there.
Kill guards whenever you meet them. Why fight the system?
You simply cannot kill a good D/P thief because they control the battle at all times and can stealth away at will.
Is it really too hard to get to level 450 in just one craft?
Nope, not even close. If you don’t discover at least a good one-quarter of your recipes you simply can’t proceed to the next level of crafting in any craft. That “one-quarter” figure depends on you repeating your “known” recipe until it is exhausted.
It’s not the fastest or cheapest way to complete any craft unless you have a lot of buddies willing to donate mats.
Casuals in WvW are almost always zerglings.
Not in our guild they aren’t. Many of them are long time gamers with jobs and very little time on their hands for daily play. They aren’t happy, and they are playing less and less as the days go by.
Yea they do… because it’s not required gear to have for any part of the game. I know many of people that aren’t upgrading because they don’t need it for anything.
…and I know more than a few casual players who have simply quit playing the game because they cannot possibly keep up to the grind needed to build this gear. Believe it or not this gear is necessary to stay competitive in WvW.
The problem with your logic Tiggy is we’re doing to these server what we’ve been getting the last 2months done to us. You can’t consider this fun when EB is just a wxp train led by pve commanders…
I guess you missed the bit where I said “I am enjoying the defensive work on our border”, or something pretty close to that. This match up isn’t much fun, even though our opponents are within 1 and 3 ranks. Still, we’ve regularly faced a differences of 3 and 6 ranks lately.
As for the commanders, it gives them a chance to practice and we’ve had a pretty good one in EB tonight. I also said, we aren’t going to defend all the time. Now is a good chance for our guild to go for a run and pick up some WxP too.
Oh and btw, you think we run only 5 members in WvW? That’s because we only run in party sized groups. There are more of us around doing things that most of you will just never do. We actually defend yaks from roaming thieves, and we’re good at it. We know how to fight small out-numbered battles, but you’ve never seen us doing it.
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
I really hate to admit it but it is true. me and my roaming partner noticed it and we were kinda disappointed by it. when we needed those numbers to help us in our desperate struggles in the last 5 weeks…
There are 3 problems. First of all it’s absolutely no fun getting blobbed to death and that’s all we’ve seen in the last few weeks.
Second, some of our players are happy with “good fights” but I personally want to win my fights, and the match up for the week. If we even had a chance to win the week RoF would see a lot more players regularly in WvW, but Anet doesn’t seem to want that. They like imbalanced match ups and there is nothing we can do it.
And last? If you want Ascended gear you’re going to have to farm an awful lot of basic mats or pay through the nose for them. WvW players don’t usually have the gold to buy mats from the TP, so a-farming we will go. Bosses, world boxes, cathedrals in Orr and dungeons.
All of them exactly the way we don’t want to play this game! (but Anet doesn’t care).
I’m enjoying our defense work on RoF, but it can’t be the same people there all the time. People will burn out on that just as fast as you can burn out on PvD.
There are no blobs on our border, but wow those Arborstone players love their golems. It’s the same routine every time. They roll around the map building golems in every camp, and waypoint them back. They bring them out a few minutes later, usually to the Bay keep, so keep an eye on them and Don’t Lose The Garrison!
My wife and I are going on vacation tomorrow. I’ll see you guys again before the league play starts on the 18th.

for when this thread get’s closed, there’s a reddit thread raging along too
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1narbe/an_anet_dev_interferred_with_our_gvg_and_trolled/
Yeah, and the fanboys are out in full force there. Too funny.
G v G ruins wvw for others and the spots taken by the guilds couldve been used by others to attack the enemies cohesively.
But it’s nice to see there is at least one here too!
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
One up, one down. It’s that simple. You’re getting new opponents every week, but playing against servers close to your own WvW population and 24/7 coverage.
But as we all know, we can’t have nice simple things here.
I wouldn’t bother with making a Celestial set right now, although I do have one for my WvW character. There are recipes for “celestial ascended” weapons now and I’m sure we’ll soon have the same for celestial ascended armor.
In the mean time you should concentrate on fusing quartz crystals daily, and if you don’t have that crystal node in your home instance I suggest you buy a bunch from the TP. Based on the current recipes you’re likely going to need 30 charged quartz for an armor set, or 750 of the low level stuff.
And how come EU seem to be more relaxed about all of this? Makes we want to shift SoS over to EU matchups.
The EU servers seem to be more relaxed about this because the Germans and French have their own language based forums and you’re probably not reading them.
Guilds here are moving. The Arborstone server is practically dead because most of their WvW guilds moved to Fort Ranik. It seems to me that a lot of the Dzag WvW guilds left too, but I don’t know where they went.
Also, there isn’t much point to moving to another server if you can’t speak that language and that’s just a fact of life for EU servers.
Besides, changing it back to 3 logs per plank is a no brainer and yet still hasn’t been done.
Hehehe, “Anet” and “No Brainer”. hehehe……
I see what you did there.
Everyone except anet realizes there is a problem here. That or they just refuse to do something about it.
There is a ridiculous amount of these mats stored on the trading post, offered at prices that we simply wont pay, probably listed originally by players who are no longer playing the game….
I am certain that Anet is trying to move this stuff off by requiring huge numbers of mats to craft Ascended items.
Anet sold out and casual gamers are screwed. They will not be able to keep up.
Sorry, no. Anet sold out TO casuals. Everything is stupidly easy/trivial which is why it has to be done so many times. Instead of doing something difficult a few times you get to press 1 for 50 hours. This is how everybody gets things eventually but no “elitist” is favoured.
There are plenty of “casual” players who are very good at this stuff and would love to have rewarding content that could be completed in a couple of hours play time, per week, because that’s all the play time they have.
As things stand now, unless you can support Anet in their quest for daily login numbers, you’re screwed right out of the best gear the game.
What do you guys think of ascended armor being buyable with fractal relics (+ maybe a couple of pristine relics). It would work just like dungeon tokens do now.
Sure, but it will never happen. WvW players can’t spend badges for an Ascended Back Piece, so what makes you think any number of fractal relics is worth Ascended Armor, except for the fact that you probably have a metric kittenton of them.
Guess how many badges I’ve got from WvW, and nothing really to spend them on?
I’m sure they are just a skin now and so far I have replaced all three of my Ascended weapons with an old skin.
You had the brains to figure out which materials you’ll need but you lack the insight of preparing exactly what you need at rock bottom prices? Weird.
I’m the original poster here and I can assure you that I did not go through this bit of mental gymnastics just to ignore my own conclusions, that have been confirmed by others here. I’m just a little disappointed at the shear mass of materials needed for this, and the stupid amount of time that will be needed for farming mats that cannot be bought.
This game was not supposed to be about gear grind and farming.
Anet sold out and casual gamers are screwed. They will not be able to keep up.
Funny part: nobody has done the math for ascended jewelry which is coming too.
Jewelry is going to be funny bird because we can get some of the Ascended gear by other means that are also time gated and imo are not at all reasonable. I want an Ascended back piece dammit! (and I hate the Fractals). Time gated guild missions anyone?
What ever happened to playing this game the way I want to play? That was a part of the promise that sold me this game.
Anyway, we have a crafting slot item for “Electrum” which actually exists in the real world. It’s a blend of silver and gold and those will probably be time gated items that are fused using thermocatalytic gold sink mats from the NPC. This will likely be the material that we use to make bands, hooks, settings and filigrees.
Time gates again. The Anet development process has gotten pretty predictable. Where is the outrage? Gone, because only the fanbois are left.
As for the gems used in Ascended jewelry those mats will likely be fused too, or perhaps you will just need large numbers of them, in the same style as the Triforge Pendant.
Cooking anyone? Or a different game?
(edited by Herr der Friedhoefe.2490)
I believe the driving force behind these ascended tier recipes…
I have the feeling the Anet economist is trying to clear out the huge stocks of mats that are stored on the trading post, stuff that nobody needed until now.
I went to build a spreadsheet on exactly this, and got the same numbers you did. At least I have a checklist now.
I finished my 3rd piece today and that’s enough of that! Or so I thought.
As I was making the vision crystal to finish off Zojja’s Artifact and it occurred to me that I had collected 1500 of each the bloodstone, dragonite and empyreal mats. Then I had a real wake up moment.
Anet will 99% likely reuse that mechanism for crafting armor, and there are 6 pieces per set, or 3k basic mats needed. If you want celestial ascended armor you’ll likely need at least 30 charged quartz too.
Don’t stop farming now boys and gorillas. We’re not even close to finish line.
aye, dulfy makes things faceroll for us
So don’t use the website, and waste your own time, thanks.
but it’d only be impossible for the general public to get anything done if they were mentally incapable of running around a map
My issue is even simpler than that. I’ve Been There. Done That. I have no interest in wandering all over Tyria’s half acre wondering where Anet has hidden “clues to the dragon”. I have my clue card. 100 players show up every couple of hours to kill them, and I know where those players go.
Even with Dulfy’s guide I have no interest in this one.
As for the Tequatl event these days, I was sick and tired of the Risen mobs the first time I ran through Orr and I almost never go back there, even since it was supposedly “fixed”. I would note, Orr was supposedly “fixed” by the same guy who is currently “fixing” WvW, which leaves me with very little hope for WvW.
