I would amend rule #4 so that stack weapons are simply not allowed at all. EP instated a rule last night (in the middle of the Agg GvG) that stack weapons were not allowed. Guildies actually had to waypoint to spawn and buy new weapons/sigils in the spirit of fairness, being above reproach, etc.
Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should stacks gained in a previous round be allowed to remain. That’s a broken rule and should be removed. Guilds will not be OK with that. standard practice is to have the enemy team down you to remove the stacks.
I would also suggest spectator rules for location. It’s not uncommon for the battling guilds to get VERY close to the spectator line or even cross it. We might want to think about “Everyone on the windmill ramp” or something along those lines. Not the best vantage, but it makes it very easy to spot interfering players, etc.
Bought another one to try and got the same thing. It knocks me down, a portal appears, I don’t get teleported, and i wasted the money on it. GG.
I used one and it knocked me flat on my back in the spot I was standing and didn’t teleport me anywhere. It was just a 5 second knockdown or something like that…
Unless this was supposed to make it easier for color blind people or something, this was the most random change I could imagine.
This is probably exactly why it was done.
Ya know, half the time I’ve been alone and openly approached 10+ people (Mags or DB) busy attacking something and waved or cheered at them to get their attention, they’ve been pretty cool about it.
That would be 3 out of 6 so far this week. The other 3 out of 6, have given me long distance running and screaming workouts, all for free!
Yeah, Mag seems very willing to just /wave and not attack and jump around having fun. I love them for that. Helps to remember that even though we’re on different servers, we’re all people who just wanna play and have fun. :P
better solution:
Don’t tie the event to Arah…. Then we know that there won’t be any legitimate progressionists that are completing the event. Easy to tell the griefers from the players that way.
As I said…griefing is griefing. Doesn’t matter which side you’re on.
Completing an event that is intended to be completed is never going to be taken as griefing. Insulting players, however, that are trying to complete the event could get you in trouble.
Griefers like you make the community a very hostile place. I can only hope Anet will see these responses and properly ban those who are harassing farmers for no other reason then trying to make people mad.
I really hope you’re just trolling here, because if you’re serious….you need a reality check.
If you think ANet is going to ban people for completing an event that others are intentionally failing for farming purposes….you’re kidding yourself in a very baffling way.
You’re talking about “GvG.”
All this GvG stuff is turning this thread into a grope-fest. I cannot justify eating popcorn without some good drama reading material.
After the GvG, I walked over to some of the maguuman players. They had BO something fierce. Deodorant, guys, srsly.
For TC, it really depends on the day and the matchup. If we end up with a fairweather matchup like this one, TC/DB/Mag, the first week is somewhat bad on queues (though last week was pretty good in hindsight).
We got the same matchup again though, and I’ve only hit a queue twice all week (other than reset night). Once the fairweathers get mostly bored of karma-training (week two) it’s pretty nice. When we’re in a hard matchup, we’ll queue a map or two where our guilds are concentrating, but we definitely don’t queue everything typically.
It seems like there was a time when we would queue all the maps several times a week, but that hasn’t happened much in the past month.
Earlier afternoon NA (EU prime) is our weakest coverage spot typically. Queues aren’t a problem there.
Edit: As far as queue TIMES go, on reset night there’s a 30-45 minute queue on everything until probably 1-2am CST. We play late on reset compared to most servers. During the week the queues that do form are usually a couple minutes. Very occasionally one of Zudoari’s karma trains gets rolling in EBG and the queue times can get substantial.

SM needs to be somewhat vulnerable. It would be uncappable otherwise….and that’s not fun.
Everyone should be signing this, whether you plan on GvGing or not. It gets the GvG out of WvW so WvWers don’t have to have it interfering anymore, and the GvGers have a clean, fair environment to fight in without any fear of interference. Everyone wins.
Multiple occasions last night random people were jumping in and out of the fight, hitting casters and then stealthing away, including people from 1 guild that were fighting.
If you’re referring to the EP vs Agg GvG, you’re incorrect.
Yes, there were thieves attacking casters then stealthing away. They were not spectators. They were part of the GvG team.
Watch the previously posted video from EP’s PoV or the Agg twitch.tv link to see for yourself.
I know there is video from a spectator POV showing someone doing the exact opposite, not apart of the GvG team, purely a spectator (even had stacks). Yet to see if myself but I was there when it occurred.
But yes, spectators need to be controlled.
If you get a link, go ahead and PM it over. I’d love to see it and pass it on.
Of course.
And I’ll be clear – I’m not saying EP cheated or this doesn’t count. EP played a kitten good GvG, I was shocked. I brought this up so that EVERYONE starts to watch spectators to prevent stuff like this from happening and Heaven Forbid, actually effecting the outcome of a match-up.
Your sentiment is right on track, for sure. EP has played a few GvGs that were affected by stands-interference, and I’m sure pretty much every GvG guild has. I’m fully in support of at least all of the members of the two guilds who are fighting moving over to the windmill ramp or something along those lines. That way everyone there can keep a solid eye on each other and no mistrust can take root. It’d be relatively easy to spot a different guild running into the fight.
Of course the proper solution is for ANet to just add in GvG support. :-P

Spectators should probably be banned. I know it takes away, but there are too many people that forget to turn off auto-attack or are simply there to troll. If people want to watch the GvG, there is always someone streaming. It would be much easier to take of trolls this way, too. Anyone who’s not part of the GvG will be killed if he/she doesn’t want to leave the area.
I would overall agree with this, except it’s like any other law… The ones who break the rules aren’t going to follow the rules anyway. That old “if you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns” saying.
Here’s hoping that official GvG support (assuming it gets added) will just have a spectator option like PvP has.

Equinox made the video. I’m just copying the link here from the weekly matchup thread. :-P
Also where is the footage from that GvG between EP and Agg.
We’ve got someone working on editing it all up. Agg usually posts videos as well.
Mag is practically the polite server this thread !!
This is some strange kinda alternate reality we’ve wandered into. Next thing you know, Mag is gonna be RP walking and taking part in the dolyak parade.
Can we get back to Agg spying on DB’s teamspeak drama? That was pretty good one.
I must admit, I was enjoying it! I’m pretty sure the only reason Agg wins is because they spy, right?
I knew they were too good to be true! My world has been shattered.

Edit: Forgot [/sarcasm] tag
I’d be ashamed to play on such a server…

You can hit that spot without any exploit at all from outside that north inner garri gate. Just plop down an AC and look through the gap above the gate. I’m sure they just wanted to kill that gate treb….
We just ran this, and the spider projectiles go straight through the walls of sanctuary, feedback, walls of reflection, shield of the avenger. This fight is definitely bugged. We died in about 7 seconds, all standing inside a sanctuary.
GG Anet.
Loved facing Agg again tonight. Looking forward to a week full of fun fights.
Cern commander here game crashed while fighting DB in bay might as well post, Really good fights from NS and qT tonight fun fights guys
I’ve crashed to desktop twice tonight after not crashing in months. Must be something in the….uh….water.
We take allegations of cheating very seriously, but we also have a responsibility to our players to not take precipitous action. We are always working to improve our cheat-detection, but no system is perfect. Please continue to report any and all suspicious activity you see and we will do our utmost to chase down and verify what is happening.
Thanks for the reply. Do you have any specific thing to say about the bugs in the towers that allow thieves (or some other classes) to get in trivially, without any kind of “hack?” It’s very easy, especially in EBG. These are just bugs, many of which are longstanding, and their holes could be closed with a little bit of dev attention.
While it’s in thieves nature to steal stuff (huehuehue), they seem to have access to skills that let them do especially naughty things.
I would love at least a tidbit of Yay or Nay information on this as well. I don’t even need ANY information about it. Just wanna know if official GvG support is gonna be added.
Granted, I hope they go out to the community and ask what players WANT in GvG, but I think we’d almost take ANYTHING instead of having to use WvW for it, or hearing “sPvP” over and over again….which is just a brain-dead response to what players are asking for.
Sorry if this looks like a personal attack, that is not my intention: I am just looking for an official response that says that GW2 is a PvE game with PvP as a sideline.
I’ve never even suspected that’s what GW2 was. It’s just….not.
GW2 is a PvE and PvP game. Period.
The rewards are different for different activities. This is why an open world event doesnt win you 1g + loot every time. People don’t generally complain that Dungeons and Events reward differently. Why should you complain that Farming PvE events rewards differently than WvW? Of course it does. It’s a different part of the game.
I have no problem with the present drop rates or WvW rewards. I think they’re still a noticeable bit lower than PvE, but WvW is finally to a place where it feels profitable on many fronts. I REALLY appreciate the effort ANet has put into that part of the game, and it’s slowly trickled in, but it’s WORLDS apart from where it was.
I think the rewards from WvW are just fine and “Thanks!” to anet for listening and responding to players who initially had issues with it being so “rewardless.” I make several gold every night I play WvW. It’s not as profitable as PvE farming champions, but it’s a hell of a lot more fun.

I really wish a developer would say something on this post so we knew that we aren’t just talking to thin air
You aren’t talking to thin air. However, keep in mind that the more you all speculate about something with essentially 0 information, the less inclined we are to constantly pop in and correct you. We will release more info about the changes coming when we are ready to do so. I’m teasing some stuff and trying to be clear about some things, but I can’t tell you all everything for a variety of reasons. Suffice to say, rampant speculation is very unlikely to see many, if any, dev responses.
All I saw was “major map change.” I’m officially a happy camper. Thanks for dropping in.
I no longer have a main in GW2. I play my Thief and Guardian about equally. I have a mesmer, ele, and ranger which get a little facetime, but not much.
I think GW2 is more about “what works best for this thing I want to go do.”
My favorites:
2x Thieves
1x D/D Ele
1x Engineer
1x Guardian, tanky but still able to deal damage. (knights/valkyrie mix is good)
2x D/D Eles
1x Thief
1x Engineer
1x Guardian, tanky but still able to deal damage. (knights/valkyrie mix is good)
Detecting 3rd party programs causes a whole slew of problems, and we don’t want GW2 to become a virus scanner in its own right. Detecting activity that those programs CAUSE should be a high priority for ANET. That said, it’s still a complicated calling.
Then there are problems like shadow-step and infiltrator-strike on the thief that can “teleport” players right into an enemy tower from outside simply by aiming for certain bridges or the edge of some walls. Almost every single tower in EBG can be easily gotten into by a thief without using any “hack” at all. Just stand in the right place, aim for the right place, and you’re in.
That kinda stuff has gotta be fixed. :/
Sounds like a great idea to me.
oh, someone from D|ERP was cheer spamming for wiping the karma train, one of my guys got into a cheer battle with him.
Hahaha, that was me.
Haha, that cracked us up. Tell Model Five Hundred that it was fun chatting with him/her all night.
<3 [DERP]
Don’t y’all on Maguuma think you have enough trebs here? I’m assuming the “There is no kill like overkill” effect is in play here.
Oh come now. One can never have “enough trebs.” :-P
WTB DB/TC/SOS match-up
That is all.
OMG. So Much This. ^^^
Can’t wait to face Agg again. You guys don’t run or map hop when facing real competition.
Here’s the problem with farming like this and being public trolls and nuisances about it: ANet will just do what they did with Jormag. They will make it so these champs drop NO loot, and instead of doing things as intended and winning overall, players will get nothing rewarding at all for running this event.
This behavior is self defeating and shows little-to-no foresight on the part of the players. Everyone loses eventually, including the trolls/farmers.
Will people get banned? Probably not. This does fall clearly outside of the blanket “unintended behavior” rules, but they’ll probably just patch it and move on. On a personal note I wish they DID ban people for it because the verbal abuse and bad behavior coming out of these people deserves nothing less. Unfortunately ANet doesn’t take “verbal abuse” claims seriously with the reporting system.
I heard PYRO was considering a merger with ME on the pretext that they wanted to learn open field combat, but ME laughed and declined.
Is that true?
Untrue
Interested to know where you heard it from however
psst, he’s trolling.
What’s trolling?

So much PvDoor from Maguuma; that 60 man zerg and spam emoting must be exhausting.
As if on que. :P
Yeah, the shiny, rock throwing doors are pretty funny.
Question: Didn’t NS used to be an off-shoot of another guild, and run more of a 5-10 man havok setup? Or am I confusing groups? Seemed like there was a pretty decent number of NS on MagBL last night.
Yes, we were an “off-shoot” of [EMP] from Jade Quarry and about 10 of us founded Night Shift [NS] when we moved to Dragonbrand. We also did start as a roaming group but we decided to recruit and cap our guild roster to 50 dedicated members. As W Rod said, we’re looking for 12 more members to complete our roster.
On the other hand, WvW has been really fun for our crew, especially the GvGs that Tarnished Coast and Maguuma brought us. The week is close to its conclusion, everyone! Hoping to come across you guys again soon!
Pretty cool idea, capping at 50 members. I’m sure we’ll all run across each other down the road. Probably next week….statistically speaking.

We started as a small 5-7 man guild in JQ, moved to DB in hopes of growing and becoming a strong 25-30 man guild. Last night we had a high of ~20 on, we are still looking for our last 12 players to complete our roster.
Thanks.
Just curious. Ya seem like a solid group. Hard to tell against ~35 of us, as I’m sure you know. Coverage Wars 2 and all… xD I missed the EP/NS GvG. Wish I hadn’t. :-/

Technically GvG does not exist, so this is fiction. NOW GIVE ME DRAMA! Please?
Can’t you make a custom PvP arena and slap a password on it and then record the fights of those who get it on inside?
And I thought this WvW forum was really a place to come in and say stuff like “hey, D/P thief from last night, fun times dancing with you over and over” and “sorry neither of us won”. All that kinda thing?
What chu talkin bout we never had a SEA presence
Go visit the beach, take a swim.
GvG is usually 15v15 to 25v25. You can’t do numbers that high in PvP. That’s why people use WvW for it all the time. People use WvW because there’s no other place to go to do it.
Everyone GvGing in WvW wishes they didn’t have to, and that ANet gave them a proper arena for it, but those requests have fallen on deaf ears so far.
If ANet just gave us a really simple arena for it, the WvW people who whine about GvG wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore, and the GvG crowd wouldn’t have to whine about there not being a proper arena setting for it. Everyone wins. Even if ANet charged for it….I think 99% of those interested would gladly shell out money to use something like that. I know I would without a second thought.
What the…..I don’t even……
/facepalm
Tensions must be running high in DB. For simply proposing an alternative tactic, the entire DB TS server got really bent out of shape and proceeded to call me very bad names QQ. Then I got banned from the TS server. Really classy when I’ve never had a mic attached and just listened in to commanders, helping out where needed. If this is the type of communication and treatment DB players are going to get, we need HELP. Maybe I’ll just take the week off and let the guys that think they’re hard get facerolled. I’ll still run my little solo camp/sentry caps, as usual. Gotta get that WXP! LOL!
At least you didnt get banned for laying down light fields in static fields.
If there’s one thing worth banning people for, it’s for doing this. Ultimate troll tactic.
Is that frowned upon that bad? Maybe the guy hit the wrong key, maybe he didn’t know? On the other hand, I’ve heard some commanders just about lose their minds in stressful situations and start screaming like a little Chinese school girl gone mad.
I was being tongue-in-cheek. Light fields on Statics are a constant bane in WvW. Obviously it’s silly for commanders to lose their minds over it…..but it’s really bloody annoying.

I got the pirates. They were all invulnerable to blind though. Didn’t work at all.
I just didn’t try at deadeye once I noticed the debuff because I was so irritated that ANet made you unable to stealth. It’s such a ridiculous tactic that makes no sense at all. I can’t imagine why they ONLY targeted thieves there. Absolute troll tactic.
i ran an invis build. i really dont like s/d or s/p for anything other than spvp. just kinda stupid that there is a TIMER (made so you cant hide or take ur sweet kitten time) AND a 60 sec reveal buff. i mean really thats just rediculous. its saying you cant play thief unless ur not going to use stealth. that means no init gain no condi removal no blinds no regen no init regen no backstab no sneak attack no tactical strike etc etc. seems like alot to take away. imagine if they did that to another class. ouch.
Don’t run an invis build for him. It costs 3.5s to respec.
You probably don’t even need to respec. Just put a pistol in your offhand and spam blinding powder and autoattack him.
Stealth is a CORE MECHANIC of the thief class. Removing it is a slap in the face to everyone who rolled a thief.
EDIT: also, every fight that I’ve had that has the permanent revealed debuff is also immune to blind. It’s a double slap in the face.
(edited by Hickeroar.9734)
Can someone please explain to me the utterly and completely moronic logic ANet is using in applying a permanent revealed debuff to thieves in some of these fights?
They’d actually screw over an entire core class mechanic? I mean….I am flabbergasted. Why don’t you make mesmer’s illusions not spawn? No turrets or supply drops for engineers? No conditions for necros! Sorry rangers, your pets do no damage!
Oh wait, you only screwed over thieves.
Unbelievable.
