This. Fixing up an error isn’t an apology. If I knocked over someone on the street, you’d expect me to help them up, then, apologize for knocking them over.

Well in your analogy that is entitlement. LOL I kid, you’re exactly right.

People are their entitlement card these days.

Nothing wrong with asking for an apology guys. There is no entitlement issue or anything like that. His account was banned wrongfully and he is simply asking for a simple “Whoops we are sorry. Our mistake”. Is that so wrong? Have people become so cold hearted these days that admitting to a mistake and apologizing for it is bad?

The OP deserves a simple apology. There is no harm in that and nothing wrong with it. I mean heck, even support told him to come here and get one (which is rather bad that they did that instead of just apologizing themselves).

Right on. I’ve apologized to a customer of mine today, of not giving them enough information on eCommerce Cart options they could consider as they look to add one to their website and I’m pretty indirect on the process. Apologies aren’t nads or first born, they show we care and are free.

Where do you get your self entitled attitude from?

It’s called his/her opinion of things and standing up for what he/she believes is right. That is what freedom is about. He/she was wronged, doesn’t look to sue, just wants an “I’m sorry”, what is so hard about that?

I’ll start, I’m sorry OP that you had to go through an unjust process, seriously. Good to see they figured it out in just a day and not weeks.

That said I have seen many apologies given out at the forum from Anet, Gale most likely leading the way. They have shown care.

And that said, the class thing is to do it via PM, no need to bring the drama.

Why do people always say, “Level up an alt”, when threads like this come up? So basically you are telling them to re-do all the same content you already did doing a different class. WOW how fun! Sorry but not everyone is into making alts

It’s one of the more realistic answers. The other one is if you are not having fun, go do something else and you probably don’t care for that one either. It’s not like we can wave a wand and create new content and gameplay to your desires. We are a loooong way away to infinite unique gaming adventures. If some of us and not pointing at you, put the same fervor in real life as we do gaming: A. They would find real life is interesting and has inifinte adventure, with high res graphics running at >1000 FPS. B. They’d become very successful putting in such an effort.

Games cannot make a complete alternative reality at this time. Your first game didn’t, your last game hasn’t, GW 2 nope and your next game won’t.

Seems mmorpg.com article today speaks alot to my view on the game now. I am so bored

I could say that about many many games, not even mmo’s. There is a point where for each of us, a game comes to a halt. That means… I go looking for another game, face it that is how I purchased GW2. The previous game came to a halt and I was ready for the next. So don’t make it sound negative, make it sound natural, because most of the games you’ve played previously, also came to a halt.

I can speak from my own experience- two guilds joined, 60+ members and im the only one still playing. This is echoed all over the forums. Surely this isnt ‘normal’ for an MMO as big as GW2?

I don’t know, do we have stats on this? I was in a guild of 2, now a guild of 3. That is a 33% increase since I started. Maybe getting a huge influx of 40% more, with 2 new players. Games on fire.

But thanks loathe, again you show me that it doesn’t matter what kind of game I play there is always some elitist swine out there to always bash someone to point they quit.

It’s how you want to read into it. Think of this a couple few million people have played this game already. Some didn’t get far, but you have to think most people have gotten well past where you have. There have been only a few that really have complained that the game is very hard, even for a solo in the open world. Sorry.

The best I can tell you is you can fight things under your level, and still get proper XP to level etc. The game downscales but not equally, so you will be noticeably stronger. For example always play 5-10 levels lower then you are. I would think over time you will get up to speed so when you are 80 you can run 80 level content.

So much awesome.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard this about a mmo, I’d have 1 x all mmo’s ever released. I hear yah, but it’s even tiring writing or reading that one any more. I just assume it’s the nature of the beast. Perhaps someday a game will be released totally nerf’d and they loosen the slots.

Maybe they should buff runes/sigils to make them more useful instead of nerfing a consumable.

I’m hoping a lot of things (skills, traits, consumes, rune, sigils, the works) get buffs so you can really feel their affect, to me it could make the game 100%’s of percent more fun in combat. Sure you have to bring up the enemies, but I want to feel the affect of these nuances a lot more. This goes back to GW1 and PvE and PvP not meshing perfectly together in the name of fun. What is subtle maybe what is needed in PvP, but it holds back entertainment value a lot in PvE.

@Horrorscope. Thanks, I appreciate your opinion on the matter. To clarify, the distaste in my statement about Anet going on holidays more had the intention that I do not believe they have enacted their priorities correctly leading up to and including that event. This is my opinion that has been developing since the August release and I was merely identifying that this was the time period and circumstance where it really hit hard for me personally.

As for the statements from several people about working in the industry, let’s just say I know a little something about this and I feel that my original argument is well warranted.

Fair enough, I stand also by they are a much bigger company now vs then. Meaning they maybe answering to more people themselves and They™ are watching. Not always good for communications and production.

I'm sorry? Why do I give you more money?...

“Anet, you need to tell player’s what you are actually doing with your cash in order for them to keep giving you theirs. I understand that an update is coming from you, but it’s just plain disrespectful to your player base to ask for more money through a sale, displaying a player’s commitment to the game, without you showing any commitment to them first.”

The way I look at it I already gave them cash and possibly all I will be giving them prior to an expansion. I don’t see them ASKING for us to spend more, the blog you pointed to wasn’t a cry from dev to player base to “please go buy more stuff”" at all. They have a gem store if we want to spend more, it has been there from the start, they run specials like every other game. I still can’t really find a darn thing on the store worth having to me, which is great, because I don’t really even want a store.

So when your subject line asks a questions to yourself, I cannot answer that for you. The general answer is, each of us gets to make a choice on what they want to spend our money on, for you you think a blueprint and communications is necessary as a good faith measure to buy additional things, there is your answer, you asked and answered yourself, gratz. I look at the need and value of the products being offered and not extra road-map plans for a shop purchase, the purchase to me is a here and now thing.

As for “hitting play and going bye bye”. Perhaps you should get a job in game making to learn this stuff isn’t easy and grow some respect. There were some patches etc during the whole season and I believe one on a major holiday, that tells me there are plenty of people around still.

This game has highlights and warts, not surprising, we’ll see what happens. As another wise-man has stated, you can go do something else and come back later to see if you like what they have added and changed. Relax a little.

If you aren’t happy why would you buy things in the store? I’m happy overall and I still don’t.

Ok all that said, it does seem they can do better addressing the most repetitive comments via word then actions. I cannot deny that. The bigger you get, the more chiefs you have to answer to, the more chiefs that dissect your every public word. It becomes a stalemate in many cases. That is why indies can be more open to their player base, there is no one above them looking down, so they can act open and straight up to their gamers.

I just tried the game again WITHOUT sweetFX, and it did look a little bitty and washy. That’s torn it, I would hate to have to go back to vanilla graphics now. They where fine until I used sweetFX.
Arena.net want to incorporate this into the game, it would save them a lot of work.

They could add these sliders that would bridge a lot of the gap:
Gamma
Bright
Contrast
Saturation

Some games allow it, I always prefer it, just allows you to dial in your monitor and tastes.

I love these amateur “graphics mods” these days.
They increase constrast to hilariously exaggerated levels, to the point the game looks like a cartoon, and call it “The Ultimate Super Mega P00nzor Hax of L33tskillz Graphix skillzors!”.

I understand what you mean, but imo the general game is a bit washed out and could use some contrast. The other big win with Sweet if the settings are correct, is you get a cleaner AA option then the in game version. Stills also don’t do overall justice, I just know with this game and others, injectors just allows you to add a bit more punch.

I’ve only been playing for a week but so far it seems that from the beginning of the game until now where I have a couple of lvl 30 toons, the standard reward for questing and the total selling price of misc items when I return to a merchant seems to be around 1-2 silver. One toon has 1.5 gold total and the other has 1.1 gold. According to the guides I’ve read, I will require gear that will cost me well over 50 gold per toon to even have a dungeon viable build. Being a more casual player, I’m starting to feel like that could be a lost cause if I can only expect to have around 3-4 gold by the time I reach level 80..

1. When you get loot, first from your inventory right click on a piece and choose Sell at the Trading Post. This will put your entire list of things that can sell on the TP on your screen. You will notice a lot of things will instantly sell for a lot more then what a vendor will give you. This is key. Then the things left over that don’t sell higher then a vendor, you sell that at the vendor. You aren’t in a danger though, there is a lot of gold in front of you still before 80. Skip tiers of armor to save money, for example keep it for 10 to 15 levels before upgrading. Around 65-70, use that until 80.

If you’re doing open world stuff as you see fit, and waypointing everywhere, you’re going to lose money, this is kinda a given.

I have no issues. I’m still trying to relate to a lot of people’s experience. I sell 99% of everything I get to the highest buyer, start at the Auction House first, it’s a must, then stuff not wanted there to the vendor. I always get more dough incoming than outgoing, the other two I play with the same. Not sure why everyone’s experience wouldn’t be similar. I feel I get very avg drops. So I don’t get that this is a given. Crafting seemingly is a sink from what I’ve heard, since I can buy what I need, didn’t see a big reason to craft. But your mileage will vary there.

There are meta-events that serves as a FFA Raid. But that gets chaotic, and the spell animations turn the boss into a glittering mess. It would be great if they could turn it into an instance (ala story mode) so you can only have 25 people max instead of 100 or more. This would also prevent people from not getting loot by the end of the fight since the boss gets overcrowded.

Ahh there are definitely servers where Orr’s meta’s will not net you 100 players, not even close. This sounds like release related issues, game is seemingly past that stage.

What the Orr.....

To me the only thing needed with Orr (sure it can always be improved) but in general, make sure the DE’s don’t bug out and if they do have some sort of reasonable reset timer. Make sure the best loot is available there as well (if not all zones).

At that point it’s up to the community. I don’t think making all content soloable is the answer. To me this is GW 2 Raids, you need a # of people to take a Cathedral.

I’m also for the idea of underflow servers to make sure there are always players around to run these Meta Events or any zone for that matter.

2) People were herded like cattle to fractals
3) ANet fancies themselves to be like EA and this game is on a downward spiral and will suffer the same fate as SWTOR if something isn’t done (yes it was an intentional reference to that song ROFLMMFAO)
4) People are pissssssssed-the-phuck off

This is where the magic of GW’s 2 is, this is what sets it apart. As one mentioned how do you plan for 7 years, then very quickly change direction with Fractals and Ascended gear? I saw from BWE -1 to BWE 1, I think it was. They actually changed how the entire skill/traits thing worked, that astonished me, again 7 years and over one weekend they put a new system in just like that. That is chaotic.

Amazingly it’s still fun, but it can be much funner (go along), perhaps someday even the funnest.

The best of both worlds only works with mega-servers and high player retention. They know it, they all now know it. The more you add it keeps segregating population where all the types become under populated. Be a master of one, then maybe someday a master of two things. They are trying to be a master of 4 right now. Two I can see, OW and WvWvW.

A-net said putting the best stuff in one content area was a mistake they don’t plan on doing again and they plan to resolve it sometime after the holidays. I figure once they do that fractals will be one option and the open world will be another instead of fractals being the only option.

Hopefully this, but I do find that odd, you would think there would be a reasonable quick way to reverse something that you found was an ooops. I hope they do what you say.

For example in DDO if something became very wrong with a Instance, they’d put an out of order style message at the entrance until taken care of, the people ran other dungeons, no big. If Fractals was this damaging, worst case, simply don’t let people in. Or if it’s because of loot being better, really how long can it take to edit the loot tables for it? People swear they are messing with loot tables every patch game wide. So I am also a little skeptical about what they will really change here. To me they’ve could have made changes in a couple/few days and stopped the madness a long time ago.

Horrorscope.7632

You know, reading this, I realised they should do monthly achievements the same way they do the major event ones (like Halloween, Southsun Cove & Wintersday).
Some people don’t want to do jumping puzzles, some don’t like fractals and others can’t stand WvWvW. So why not make more achievement tracks for monthlies, yet require less than all? That way people could choose which ones they want to do.

For example, there could be 6 achievement tracks:
50 kills in Wuvwuv.
15 Fractals.
30 Jumpin Puzzles.
100 Events.
100 People ressed.
5 maps completed.

Yet only 4 of those would need to be done to get the achievement.

Thoughts?

Yes that is what I propose.

I just wonder if there are PvE requirements in the PvP monthly?

My take on the JP monthly is that Anet see’s a lot of people haven’t done the JP’s and this is a way for them to seek them out and at least know where they are, if even for a future reference. I personally still have most to do, I found plenty of Vista’s as JP’s themselves, so I had plenty o fun figuring those jumpsters out and didn’t feel the need for additional jumping puzzles, yet.

This part of the monthly took me 15 minutes and all in lions arch. You go to the entrance of one of the three jump puzzles in LA and it will count. Logoff and go to character screen and log back on. You are now in a different overflow an it will count towards it just by being in another overflow. Rinse and repeat 30 times.

Well where I once didn’t have any issue with the monthly requirement, I do now with this exploit. But it’s a real little issue with me.

I did a dungeon naked with my Guardian + Hammer and went AFK on bosses with 1 on auto and never died. Cleared the dungeon, got almost 70 silver, tokens, loot, and only had to move my character to the bossfights. Didn’t have to communicate with my team at all. Didn’t have a role, i just sat there, put down wards, and never died. I washed the dishes, watched a few youtube videos and made a bagel with cream cheese and capers all while auto-piloting.

Do people defending the game as it is not play it? Are they even lv 80 yet?

This is an interesting post.

First you do what you do, but you would rather not have a loophole, by the last line you use. So why not make a video and send it to the devs, I am certain they would like to see this and fix it. I am certain they do not want this to be possible. It sounds like you are taking advantage of something, blame the game for allowing it, but then not taking steps on your end to help.

But I also have to buy your story at face value:

1. You were botting if you believe it or not.
2. You didn’t only have one on repeat, but you had to have all the wards on some type of macro as well.
3. Somehow you washed dishes and did things with cream cheese but were able to move to non-boss encounter to non-boss encounter. Not sure how this was done legit.

No sure if serious. But no matter how that was done, if that was done, I’m sure the team would love to rebalance somethings to then make your game more challenging for you and everyone.

PS And most importantly. Please share your build, I’d love to try it out. I don’t kid.

Man o man I am with you. Dungeon this game up and GW1 is the superior game. GW1 is all instanced already, better instances imo and much neater skill system. I can’t get over how they laso’d a lot of the community into a dungeon series after creating the world they did. There has to be a reason they have for doing this… it really escapes me though.

As for the topic, I always go in with this. Expecting much of nothing, that way it gives me the best chance of being impressed. If you don’t do that, you should try, it works A LOT better.

Great how the pro-trinity people compare a WoW raid to GW2 5 mans… Yeah ok…

5man vs 5man, GW2 is more exciting. WoW 5mans were dull, too easy and not very dynamic. Stand in one spot, dps, stand in one spot, tank, stand in one spot, heal… boring.

Would we call the Cathedral runs GW2 raids? I like them because they just happen organically, you don’t have to organize groups. There is no real limit, run it with 5, 20, 50… Just happens.

^I really enjoy your spirit, but you write like there is even a chance at this. There is I suppose, but it won’t have nothing to do with us writing about wanting it. They have proven they will do whatever they want on their own. I recall very little of the cry for ascended type gear, it just happened from the game owners, because they looked it all over and made it so, not by listening to what the gamer wants. Or that is my belief anyway.

Because it costs money. Traveling everywhere.

What are we looking at for an entire month 50 silver to 1 gold to travel to all the jumping locations? That’s an issue?

Monthly achievements are optional I hear.

not in a game with no more rewards anywhere else but dungeons and wvw, it becomes the only option.

I’m wondering what game people are playing or if I have something else. I’m a recently turned 80 player. Going by forum reaction Orr was this hideous place where no fun or money can be found. Ran a few Cathedral chains yesterday (all failed even), 4 gold from drops after a handful of hours. I’m not even sure what I need the gold for now since I’m full exotics of my choice. Still good to accumulate for an alt or future needs. But I was getting rewards, fights many times were non-stop meaning, lots of drops/rewards. Also finished all Orr maps yesterday as well, another 4 gold from the rewards, yes a nice 8 gold day. Do not understand these loot issues.
