I quit the instance and reentered to watch it again. It was completely worth it. Best cutscene ever, awesome job!
In both cases Berserker stats are best or at least very close to being best. For a more detailed breakdown there is this PvE Guide, assuming that is the gamemode you are talking about.
My thinking was the same as yours. Healing power scales horribly and a lot of your healing comes from others blasting your water fields. And in this case the healing power of the person blasting it counts. Conditions can also be easily cleansed by enemy zergs. Because of this I’m using Berserker trinkets and a Berserker staff as well as Soldier armor. So far I’m very happy with it. I’m not much of a theorycrafter, though.
Tonight while in LA at Vigil Fort. Vine appeared at the waypoint. So it is able to transfer via gates Has been confirmed. So the invasion has begun.
Tomorrow vines should appear in timberline then it begins /E squeals like a little school girl
There is a vine at the Concordia Waypoint already.
According to the Wiki the PvP weapons have the weapon strength of a level 80 exotic weapon. For a staff this is 985-1111 (average 1048). However, the damage displayed in the tooltip is consistently lower than in PvE – for every staff skill across all 4 professions.
Using the formula (damage displayed in tooltip) = (avg. weapon strength) * (skill coefficient) * power / 2600, I got an average weapon strength of about 1015.
Some more observations:
- It seems to apply to other weapons, too.
- Utility skills are not affected
So it seems reasonable to assume that they use the same formula for the damage displayed in the tooltip for PvP and PvE. My power was the same in both cases (916), I did not use traits or other passive effects and because utility skills are not affected, both the armor rating (2600) and the skill coefficients seem to be the same in PvP and PvE. This only leaves weapon strength as an option.
My question now is whether the Wiki is wrong about the weapon strength being the same as for level 80 exotic weapons or if I’m missing something else.

That would mean that there is a trigger (servertime or whatever) in game and that they don’t need to patch in every change manually.
Yes, that’s totally possible. Don’t you always see mobs, NPCs or whatever in game always spawn and unspawn at predetermined times? These vines can use the same or similar logic
Resources and objects are already in games, it’s just a matter of flipping a switch for making them to come to life.
Yeah that is right, of course. I did not make that connection.^^
check ur wvw rank points, u maybe got defence against guards skilled there and that causes retaliation procs.
and next time tell wich game mode if i am wrong
That could be the cause. It would also help, if you posted your complete build here, e. g. using this website.
ShadowPlay if you have an Nvidia graphics card.
One way or the other, you just have to go.
Apparently they don’t even need to patch the game for this. At least I did not notice my launcher downloading anything.
I think they already did, and just called it “fixed a server crash”.
That’s not what I meant. Since yesterday some new vines appeared, but my launcher did not have to download any new files. That would mean that there is a trigger (servertime or whatever) in game and that they don’t need to patch in every change manually. That would be nice, because every patch means that people have to relog – which is bad in WvW for example. I could be wrong there, though.
Apparently they don’t even need to patch the game for this. At least I did not notice my launcher downloading anything.
There is some discussion going on about this here.
Has anyone noticed waypoints flickering and making a sound like it’s shorting out? Is that normal. I don’t think I’ve seen that before. I just noticed the Gap Waypoint in Kessex Hills doing this.
You should maybe read through this thread.
This is amazing.
I totally agree with that. The world just feels so much more alive this way, way to go Anet.
EDIT: Just found the Ulta Metamagicals WP is flickering the same way as the one in Prosperity
I’m not sure if it was there before, but now there is a vine right next to the waypoint you mentioned.
At about 0:18, that an incomplete tendril at the top or just some kind of conduit? Cause it definitely runs in a (possibly straight) line.
My guess is that this is a ley line, especially with all the rocks floating around it and as said above, there are the same auroras in the video that are around the bottom part of the Breachmaker in Lion’s Arch.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
DE version 2 seems to have found an entrance to the ley line chamber Scarlet was investigating. That is the part from 0:13 to 0:22. You can see the same aurora around the bottom part of the Breachmaker in Lion’s Arch. I have no clue, however, what the pyramid at the end is (some kind of reactor maybe?).

1/800 means that if you try 800 times, you have about a 66% chance of success. sooo yeah.
To be exact, it a 63.24% chance of success. It’s not that much of a difference, but still noticeable. Some more numbers: To have a success rate of 50%, you need 555 tries, for a success rate of 66% it’s 863 tries, for 75% it’s 1109 tries, for 90% it’s 1841 tries and for 99% it’s 3682 tries. So even if you throw about 11046 rares in the mystic forge you could be the one unlucky person in 100 that still does not get a precursor.
Assuming this guy is correct, you have a 1 in 800 chance to get a precursor when combining 4 rare weapons in the forge. This means that you need 800 tries to get a precursor on average. The current sell price for Dusk is 1310g, so if it costs you less than 1g 63s 75b per try you can expect to save money.
But the problem is of course, that no one can guarantee, that you get a precursor after 800 tries. You may need way more tries and with such a low probability, the variance is high.
Pretty funny idea. Asuragolf might work out, too.
I might be extrapolating here, but this could actually be taken from the Horizontal Progression CDI:
Chris WhitesideMarcus Greythorne.6843My number one would be “Zone Progression” / “Order Progression”
Something that gives players a purpose to explore the zones.
A lot of people miss quests, my main guess why this is the case is: they miss stories. Dynamic Events are cyclical in nature, so those stories have no real end – climax if you want. Time to give your writers something more to do and let them design unique events.
even the most simple idea could make people exited. Today I leveled in Kessex Hills when I saw a bear walking alongside a skritt. Awesome I thought… until I found out that I can’t interact with that npc at all; it’s just a guild mission boss. Why not spawn such rare characters (dozen of them, but rare spawns) in the open world, give them a loottable and a few interesting dialogue-options or even a small event associated.Fill the existing maps with tons of things to do. I mean: tons and tons of things. And may these be just little things… the world has to feel more alive.
…and then combine this with progression. The more people find, the more they unlock. And the more they can unlock for others (in the sense of triggering new events).
summary: progression in specific zones via a huge variety of things to do (something for everyone – fighters, explorers, collectors, lore-lovers, treasure hunters,…………
People should have some goals for each of the zones. Not for the world in general (Legendary – mats from everywhere). Zelda reference: the Master Sword is in the Lost Woods, not everywhere in Hyrule.
This idea makes me excited, it could also tie into nearly every Horizontal Progression idea that has been put forward in this CDI.
It is just a good global ongoing goal to have, and one I think we have been doing but dependent on priorities could do a lot more of, especially from the point of view of using/evolving the Map Completion Meta Game system.
Chris
I found this here. I’d love if they continue this and add achievements and other stuff to the older zones, too.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
So for all we know, he’s a clever goldsink. I guess we’ll never find out if there is a hidden achievement for giving him 2000g (or is it 3000g?). Maybe it comes with a title “Greatest Moron Ever”.
PS: also remove the blind effect on bosses can improve active game intead of blindness spamming… the should be a specific boon for bosses about blindness like defiant).
Unshakable actually does exactly this.
I also like how it ties in with the personal story, e. g. when talking to Belinda as a human noble. The region based achievements are great and I hope to see those for the other zones, too. As far as I remember this actually came up in one of the CDIs. I’d also love if they added more environmental effect, like darker nights. The sandstorms and the quicksand are a cool start, though.
Is there any way to help that poor quaggan in Town of Prosperity? I already gave him all my gold, but he did not react. Well, obviously I did not, but does giving him money actually accomplish anything substantial?
some items have the same skins as other items. for example, Dawn in the wardrobe is called “Khrysaor, the Golden Sword”
maybe that’s the case here as well?
According to the wiki “no known items use this skin”. But I’m almost certain the skin is going to be introduced when Primordus is added (or earlier).
How are you testing how much damage you take per hit?
The player is the commander, not the character, so a commander tag should be accountbound. It should not be too difficult either to refund any additional commander tags.
You can turn your online status to “invisible”. This way nobody can whisper you. Or you can create a new chat tab that does not display whispers. I agree, though, that there should be an option to restrict whispers to friends/guildies. And if people are really crossing the line, you should report them.
I’d like to see an option to reset the state of ones character in the PvP lobby if out of combat. By resetting state I mean to
- reset cooldowns (skills, runes, sigils, …)
- destroy summons
- remove boons
The idea behind this is to make practicing skill combos easier. It is sometimes tedious to wait several minutes until a skill is of cooldown or until boons wear off.
1. Running around with the zerg in Edge of The Mists (kind of like a WvW overflow) is the fastest way to level nowadays. But doing some dungeons or completing some maps can certainly make things more interesting.
2. Get ascended trinkets using laurels, guild commentations, etc. Those can really boost your damage. But exotic weapons and armor are still fine at the moment and way easier to acquire than the ascended stuff.
I’m currently using this build. The traits are pretty much set, but you can play around with some skills (Frost Bow -> Mist Form) and with the equipment. Going full celestial or changing the staff to a soldier version is an option. You could also use Strength runes for a more offensive version. Most of the time I’m also using Omnomberry Pie as buff food. That’s just way cheaper than the one listed here.

Yeah, Banish is one of my favourites, too. There is nothing like sending people flying off cliffs.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
Taking Arcane Power and Sigil of Intelligence into consideration:
-Sigil of Intelligence gives you 3 crits per 9 seconds
-Arcane Power gives you 1.25 crits per 9 seconds
-Arcane Retribution gives you 1 crit per 9 seconds
=> To sum it up, you get 5.25 free crits per 9 seconds. Considering that D/D is a very fast paced playstyle, the increase in overall damage is not that high. As far as I know, this is also the number of hits and not the number of skills that will crit, so a single AoE would use up all your free crits.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
Just focussing on stats:
-4% chance to deal 208% damage
-96% chance to deal 100% damage
=> 4% * 208% + 96% * 100% = 1.0432
So (without fury) you have a lousy 4% damage increase from your ferocity.

1. You need to be weaponsmith level 500 to see the recipe.
2. Salvage Lvl. 68+ rare/exotic equipment.
3. No.
4. Do champs, world bosses and WvW to get the account bound materials.
5. Salvage Lvl. 68+ exotic gear.
6. They get unlocked automatically once your reach level 500 as weaponsmith.
7. Buy it/craft it. The recipe is unlocked at weaponsmith level 400.
8. Cheapest way: Farm wood and ore and craft everything yourself. Easiest way: Do a couple of dungeons and use the money to buy it. The latter option is going to be heaps faster.
For most of these questions the official wiki is a great resource. This is not to discourage you from asking questions in the forum, but it is most likely the faster option in this case.

The last thing I heard was that there is a team assigned to endgame gear progression. So maybe we will see some changes in the future.
From patchnotes May 20, 2014:
- The ascended back piece Light of Dwayna can now be infused in the Mystic Forge.
- The ascended back piece Shadow of Grenth can now be infused in the Mystic Forge.
It’s really the small things that make a difference.
The only thing Tequatl needs is bugfixes. I don’t understand why people want to get rid of every single challenge in the game.
Does anyone have a screenshot?
If they were added to the gemstore I’d have bought like 2. Since it’s another RNG game, no gems will be bought nor spent for this from me…
Then buy gems, convert them to gold and buy the skins on the trading post if they become available.
206.127.146.107 is in Germany. Somewhere close to or in Frankfurt.
According to http://www.utrace.de/?query=206.127.146.107 it’s near Austin, Texas.
From the patchnotes:
Megaservers
- Added a chat option – enabled by default – that shows only the messages coming from players sharing your client’s text language.
- This option is only applied in to the /map and /say channels, as well as the /team channel in the Edge of the Mists. Other channels are not affected.
- Messages from players in your friend list are never hidden.
- Messages from players from the same World as yours are never hidden.
- Messages from players currently in your party are never hidden.
- Messages from players representing the same guild as you do are never hidden.
- Reminder: if you encounter players using abusive or rude language in chat, please report them by right-clicking their name in the chat window and selecting ‘Report.’
- Blocking a player still functions the same way.
- This option is only applied in to the /map and /say channels, as well as the /team channel in the Edge of the Mists. Other channels are not affected.
Is mega server thing enabled on all maps? Even in Orr?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Megaserver-Rollout-Update/first#post3911271
Consider you buy 4 lottery tickets and another person buys 2 each month and the other person gets way more money back than you and even hits the jackpot once. Would you call that person tagged for luck?
It is quite funny that people complain about this fix, seeing as people have been suggesting this very fix for a very long time (even before MegaServers), but now all of a sudden it is the worst fix ever.
What fix do you mean?
Here are my thoughts on how to improve world bosses:
- Keep the spawn timers as they currently are.
- Keep the world boss pres as they currently are.
- Spawn a portal after the pres are finished.
- Distribute people in instances using “poker dealer style” (like with the Marionette), but keep parties together. This can be done using the same dialog as when someone in your party enters a personal story mission.
- The number of instances depends on the number of people on the map and the world boss. For the Fire Elemental, you could aim for 20 people per instance.
- Add a respawn timer for dead people. The duration of the timer as well as the placement of the checkpoint depends on the world boss.
- Change the guild world boss unlock so that all member get a popup message (regardless of where they are) if they want to participate in the event. Instead of distributing them automatically, let them choose the instance where they want to go (until one instance is full).
- Add a short timer till the final event starts (after an instance was created). People can use this period to do some organization.
By the way, to be clear about it: If the language issues and the world bosses are fixed, the megaservers are really nice. In an MMO you should not be the only person on a map and this system accomplishes exactly this. So keep working on it.

Your zerg appear to be scattered compared to other situations i’ve experienced or seen. Consider yourself lucky that you were so few.
The screenshot is not ideal, there were quite a few other people. What I find problematic here is that we killed that thing in 50 seconds and as you said, we were not coordinated at all. With this mass of people, you can easily get the ele down in less than 30 seconds. There is no challenge in this and no point in looking for red circles on the ground and dodging – the latter is not possible anyway with the amount of effects going on.
World bosses are also a bit of a laugh at the moment. Even though I was against the idea of making them instanced at first, I’m getting more and more inclined to this.
