I’m not sure I’m understanding your suggestion right. Are you actually asking to have an NPC that will cheaply sell you copies of your ascended armor and weapons so you don’t have to switch between them through the bank or craft more sets? If you make one set of armor you can get infinite copies for a small fee? If this is what you are asking, then there is no chance for that.

Basically this, but you’d still have to craft one set for each stat combination you want.

People with lots of alts know the problem: Every time you want to play another character, you need to visit a bank, put your ascended gear in there, change characters, move to a bank again and get the gear — only to realize that you forgot the backpiece. Give it a week and your stuff as spread across all your characters and you don’t know where you left your sword.

Here’s another problem: If you share gear between characters, they will all look the same. You cannot even adjust the colors just for one character. A similar problem arises with runes and sigils.

This is why I suggest to add an option – via an NPC or in a different way – to copy an account bound item. There should be a small fee associated with this, about 5g seem in order. Ideally the copy should have the same upgrades as the old one, but as with the mystic forge recipe to change the stats of an item, they don’t have the tech for this yet. This way you can move the copy to another character, transmute and dye it without affecting your other characters. Furthermore, you can change the upgrades.

Of course there have to be some restrictions on the copies: There should be a flag on those items that prevents them from being placed in the mystic forge or sold to a vendor. Furthermore, all copies need to be removed, once you loose the original item.

So this is not easy to implement, but it would go a long way of making the game more alt-friendly.

There should be some access to stability if overloads are ever to be used in PvP and if eles are meant to be frontliners in WvW. How about a GM trait that gives 2 stacks of stability whenever you grant yourself protection on a 15s ICD?

Sadly no, but that title does sound awesome. I can suggest it but the development team’s priority is finishing HOT right now.

Thank you! That would mean the world, and though I know I myself am just one person and most likely not worth coding a semi-brand new title for, I imagine every other player still around who grinded that out way back when would feel like a million platinum. Truly, if there is any potential of that getting to someone who can make it happen, it’d mean the world to (enter RP mode) be able to display the accomplishments of our legendary Ascalonian ancestors. I’d go to far as to name a character after ya Lauren, and not make it intentionally weird-looking.

The problem is, if they add this one title, they also have to add the others. There is no real order of difficulty in obtaining the titles in GW1, so others will start demanding to the title they like the most as well. In my opinion the current solution of having clearly defined goals in the HOM and being able to carry the meta title GWAMM over is the best solution.

I’d vote for a Batman cloak. If you are not gliding, it’s a regular black cape (yeah I know, it won’t happen) and once you are in the air, it changes to bat wings.

I don’t quite follow, how would an auto-demote feature that demotes someone if they’ve been inactive for say, 3 months, abusable?

Yeah, abusable was not quite the word I was looking for. What I mean is that the whole point of ranks in a guild is that they are fixed until someone changes them. If you are the guild leader, you can go abroad for half a year, then come back to the game and still be the leader of the guild. Granted, if you do not have any officers, you will be the only person left in the guild, but that is not the point. The upgrades still exist. If auto-demotion is in place, there is no guarantee, that you are still in the guild after your trip.

As it seems, HOT also allows you to buy decorations for your guild hall in the gem store, since you get one such item for pre-purchasing. Oftentimes it’s going to be the guild leaders investing in their guild hall, so they should have some security of their guild membership.

Dodge is definitely a good idea. If you can do it, you can bind the other key to Shift. By binding Shift there, you can use mouse button + number to use your profession skills. For example, you press your mouse button and 1 to attune to fire on an ele.

Most of the visibility issues come from people stacking on the boss. This is the place Anet should work on, e. g. by improving the AI (which they are doing for HOT) or enlarging the radius of support skills – at least in instance.

Yeah, that would be nice. They could add a checkbox “Do not show again” to the window and an option under the F11 window to re-enable it. By the way, you can also click on the experience bar at the bottom to see the upcoming level rewards window whenever you like.

I tested a revenant healing build (Ventari + staff + Cleric’s gear) today in the Silverwastes and found it difficult to track where my tablet was needed for heals. This was mostly because I had to click on an ally to see their health. I know that you can party up, but this limits you to five specific people. This works in instances, but not in the open world.

So I suggest to add an option to display an ally’s health on their nameplate. Some options might be

  • color coding the name (probably bad for color blind people)
  • displaying the current health as a percentage
  • displaying the current health as an absolute value
  • showing a health bar
  • showing a small version of the health-orb you see at the bottom of your screen

This would also be useful for WvW. Frontliners can still create their own parties to share protection and stability, while a revenant can heal them from afar.

We are still waiting for a fix…

I was really hoping that the fix would be included in last weeks patch. Maybe they didn’t want to push it out, because they knew they would have enough work fixing bugs with the new traits. But it’s more likely that it is still not done – which is disappointing indeed. That said, I do want it fixed, but I want it to be fixed properly once and for all. So if it really takes that much time, it’s fine with me.

Exactly this. Also it’s really bad to be stuck in the queue for several minutes just to get into a game where people resign immediately because their team has a norn with pink armor and a mustache or whatever. If you start a game, you should finish it, too. You do not need to win a game to improve. So instead of adding a resign option, they should rather reenable dishonor.

It is not a bug, but intended mechanics. The reason is because more than one player may be interacting with an item/stack/bank slot in a Guild Vault at the same time.

That’s just a pretty foul excuse. You can simply lock the stack first, then add the items to it and remove the lock again. A similar situation arises if two people take a whole stack out of the guild bank at the same time or put items in the same slot.

A ping of only 2k? I just got steamrolled by the enemy zerg without the slightest chance to do anything because I had a 4k ping. While I appreciate that Anet recognizes the issues and made quite a few posts about it lately, nothing improved unfortunately.

I cannot test this at the moment, but I think it always takes items starting from the top of your inventory. So if your invisible bag is above your normal bag, it will be taken from the invisible bag. If your normal bag is above the invisible one, it will be taken from the normal bag.

You can use Artificer to convert it into higher tier essence, which results in less clicking. It’s a level 0 Artificer craft, and you do not lose any of the luck by doing it. It was done like that for the reason to help reduce clicking.

Even this way you need to click through 21478 essences to maximize your magic find.

Questions about doing GW1 - HoM

Ive decided I want to go back and play GW1 to do the Hall of Monuments, but ive never played GW1 before, but im not sure about what basic choices I should make prior to beginning.

Does it matter what profession I choose? Ive been debating on choosing Necromancer for my GW1 character, because I main Necromancer in GW2, and i’d quite like see where my Necromantic brethren came from 250 years ago.

When I unlock subclasses/secondary class, is there any good way to tell which one I should select?

Should I do the campaigns/expansions in any particular order? Or should I just take the obvious route and go in the order in which they were released?

Your own profession does not matter that much, what matters is your team composition. Since it is no longer easy to find people to play with, having heroes is pretty much mandatory. You can get those by playing Nightfall and Eye of the North, so this is where you should start. It will make all other stuff much simpler and faster. The 7 Hero Player Support composition is great for almost all content. You can run any class with it. Personally I ran a ritualist with this build, since the heroes were already managing spirits. Also, you can eventually unlock every secondary class and swap between them in outposts.

PvP Rank was reset

ok… so it looks like it reset, but it just does that because it was starting a new tier of wolf?

If you enter the PvP area your rank will be shown at the bottom where you can currently see your level. Whenever the purple rank bar fills up, your rank will increase just like your levels do in PvE. So if you are rank 30 and you fill your bar, you will be rank 31. However, those animal tiers that grant you finishers and stuff span 10 numeric ranks. This means if you are somewhere between rank 30 and 39, the symbol you see is wolf. Once you hit rank 40, it will change to tiger.

Edit: BTW, it’s pretty bad that cannot see your actual PvP rank in this PvP window. It can be quite confusing that way.

Nope, you currently need 15k rank points to reach the next rank. This means your rank is somewhere between 30 and 38. The animal symbols span 10 ranks, not 1. So if you are rank 30 and rank up, you will still be at wolf tier [wiki].

Hm, maybe it is a typing error on anets side. They tell us everytime this should be the basic idea and they need to adjust the numbers, so i think maybe there are spelling and typing errors too. Imo it would make sense to assume they mean somethink like: 7% from your vitality goes into ferocity.

If they really mean healing power, I am not sure if they hasnĀ“t lost a few cups…

They mean healing power, but they said on the stream that they are not happy with it and my add another 7% gain from precision. I still think they should bring Bolt to the Heart back down instead and make it a 15% damage increase below 33% health, though. Otherwise staff is going to be the only good weapon in PvE as it does not rely on conjures or Fresh Air.

This would be my guess as well, since Gamescom is in August. It’s not unlikely that they will either announce a release date there or that they already want to show a finished product.

I’d like it way more if they moved the +Flame Shield Duration of One with Fire to Flame Barrier (makes more sense there) and have One with Fire activate on any aura just as Zephyr’s Boon and Elemental Shielding do. This would make the trait master worthy and Auramancers would have to make this interesting choice of

  • Do I want to support my Allies? -> Water -> Powerful Auras
  • Do I want defensive auras? -> Earth -> Elemental Shielding
  • Do I want offensive auras? -> Fire -> One with Fire + Air -> Zephyr’s Boon

If those changes go live I would already be happy. However, as I already pointed out in another thread, Flame Barrier itself makes no sense in this position. Yes, the trigger chance is way to low. Yes, Flame Aura is weak in any build where you don’t trait for Auras. But most importantly all the first minors in Fire, Air, Water and Earth are supposed to trigger on “While attuned to X”, so that Lingering Elements works. This trait is complete garbage as it currently stand.

This is why I propose to swap it with Burning Precision. Now Flame Barrier is something you can explicitly choose in Aura Builds and the minor is something that’s useful for any build specializing in fire. The new adept Flame Barrier (without any trigger chance) would then be

Flame Barrier
Gain Fire Aura when you attune to fire. Fire Auras you apply last longer.
Fire Shield: 3s | Duration Increase: 33%

and the new minor Burning Precision would be

Burning Precision
While attuned to fire critical hits have a chance to cause burning.
Trigger Chance: 50% | Burning: 1s | ICD: 2s

Depending on how strong/weak one stack of burning is, the trigger chance on Burning Precision can be adjusted. Burning Precision used to increase Burning Duration as well. I moved this to the third minor trait in the fire line (Burning Rage) so that it is always active. Note that the fire line used to give +30% condi duration, so it’s not OP — and numbers can be adjusted.

I don’t see this being mentioned yet, but Flame Barrier does not work in that slot at all. The Fire, Air, Earth and Water traits are all supposed to trigger “While attuned to X” instead of “When you attune to X” so that Lingering Elements works.

Hey!

Wanted to suggest changing the internal cooldown of evasive arcana (Arcane GM trait) to 8 or 9 seconds perhaps instead of 10?

Reasoning: With upcoming balance changes, attunement swap recharge will be reduced to 8.7 seconds per attunement. This means that evasive arcana will not synergise with attunement swap as well as it did previously, and with us having to make choice between evasive arcana and elemental attunement, I think this is fairly reasonable to ask.

Opinions? please keep this constructive.

The skills that activate are affected by the former alacrity traits that reduce skill recharge of one attunement by 20%. So you can already get an 8s CD on the skills that you want, which is absolutely worthwhile in my opinion.

I created a spreadsheat of the current changes to elementalist traits. If you like, you could copy it and integrate your ideas there. Furthermore I also did exactly this and thought about what traits need changes to make them worthwhile in at least a few situations. This is what I came up with so far. There are comments on every trait that explain what got changed. Every trait with a gray background is unchanged. As was stressed on the lifestream, numbers are of course subject to change, I’ll leave that to the professionals — even though I sometimes adjusted numbers to show a general direction the trait could be going. The trait placement and overall functionality is more important here.

Discussion - Falling & Res traits

The falling damage traits have some niche uses in jumping puzzles or on the WvW alpine borderland maps in the top area. For PvP I could not think of any uses. However, the traits are shared between all gamemodes so removing traits just because they are not viable in one gamemode is not a thing. There would not be many traits left if they did this.

Sure, start now. The expansion is not going to destroy anything you accomplish now, level 80 will still be maximum level afterwards. Also if you have a level 80 character and do about 60 skill challenges you can get every specialization on that character — including the elite one.

Elementalists Specializations/Trait Changes

Continuation of the air traits discussion above.

Zephyr’s Focus: If Ferocious Winds is removed, we are currently down one trait. One of the traits that were removed from the air line was Zephyr’s Focus, which causes your endurance to regenerate 100% faster when channeling a skill. It used to be an adept trait, but I think it has the potential to become a GM trait if another missing trait Arcane Retribution gets merged into this. Arcane Retribution caused your next 5 attacks to crit when your health dropped below 75% on a kitten ICD. Every second you are channeling a skill you could now get one stack of Arcane Power on top of the additional endurance regeneration.

Summary: Still lots of work in this traitline. The first minor is useless, superspeed seems to be bugged, Ferocious Winds is complete garbage, Air Training was removed instead of being integrated into Aeromancer’s Training and Bolt to the Heart was made unreachable for many builds thus making them inviable. Lightning Rod also seems to be lackluster for a GM trait.
