First thing that struck me was that it was WAY overweighted towards European players. What’s the actual split by region? My guess is well over half of active GW2 players are in North America, but the survey has them at only 29%.

I also doubt that 29% of the players play on French servers, 18% on the single Spanish server, but only 3% on the German ones. Those statistics do not seem to be representative.

Nerf Warriors being way too OP

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

Warrior is in a good place, we have a lot of viable builds to choose from and can fulfill pretty much any role. I would like it to stay that way while. I would also like for Anet to fix all the other professions to the point where that can have the same amount of viable builds and fulfill any role. Just crying nerf is not going to accomplish that.

This ^^
L E A V E T H E M A L O N E
Bring all other classes UP
I don’t even main my warrior, but I am extremely pleased about what it offers me when I play it. It’s almost perfectly balanced.

No it isn’t perfectly balanced. It is OP. If you want to see a balanced class, look at guardian (and don’t compare it to a warrior). Guards can be tanky, guards can deal damage, but not at the same time. If a guard wants to deal damage they are almost as squishy as an ele/thief (we have the same tier of health). If we want to be tanky we deal next to no damage and have trouble killing a single vet in under a minute. That is what a balanced class looks like. Sure we have problems with our traitlines, and some of our skills (spirity weps) are useless.

Now take a guardian and compare it to a warrior and try to find a reason why you would chose guardian over warrior. Warriors can be tankier and deal more damage, can be amazing damage dealers and still be tanky, can have amazing power or crit or condi builds (which guard can only do crit build to deal dmg since power scaling is awful on them and we have access to one condition that deals dmg). AND a warrior can give better buffs/healing to other party members than a guard can. So really if warrior stays the same there really isn’t a reason to keep playing a guard (besides aoe stability which is one of the only reasons people keep one around).

And as a side note, I play both guard and warrior. I like them both, but I will be one of the first to say my warrior is OP and makes my guard look quite useless.

I really could not agree more. While I just started really playing my guardian last week (so I’m clearly no expert yet), I absolutely love the class. It is very well designed, brings lots of utility, has lots of nice synergies between traits/skills, can be made useful in all aspects of the game and can be fit to your playstyle. But from each strength you choose follows a weakness. The guardian is – for me at least – the reference class when it comes to balance.

[Suggestion] Ascended gear/Precursor crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

I like the idea of several stat sets on a single item. I think it may work in the following way:

  • you craft an ascended armor/weapon piece;
  • you craft an ascended inscription of the desirable stat;
  • you forge an Ascended Versatilizer in the Mystic Forge using bloodstone, dragonite, empyreal (preferably unrefined) and globs of dark matter or skillpoint-heavy material from Miyani (like eldritch scroll or bloodstone shard);
  • you “transmute” the inscription to the weapon in the same way you transmute items.

This would probably be the easiest to implement, because inscriptions remain useful and they just need to add some mystic forge recipes and a couple of items. Ascended crafting materials also get an additional use. That could be a potential sink for Bloodstone Dust. Inscriptions constitute about half the price of an ascended weapon, which is alright for unlocking one stat combination (maybe slightly too expensive).

What I don’t like, however, is that it is just another grind for materials. They could maybe add some challenge to it (in place of the Ascended Versatilizer or in addition to it). Say you get an item you need to unlock Settlers stats after defeating the Karka Queen. By doing guild missions you get an item needed to unlock Soldier stats. Maybe add multiple ways to get such an item, so people are not forced to do content.

But if Anet should ever decide to implement a system like this they likely want to figure out the details themselves.

There are enraptured super-fans fervently guessing at what’s to come, mind you, and apparently one person in every 10,000-20,000 has guessed correctly. “And we haven’t told them this!” Johanson cackled. By doing AC path 1 or 3 you get 1.5g and it takes you like 20 minutes. If you use the LFG tool, you should not have too many problems finding a group, because it is shared between servers. The drops you get there are also better, further boosting your income.

The champ train in Frostgorge Sound is also more profitable than the one in Queensdale. There are many servers doing this one, so you can get away with guesting on one.

For karma, you can do activities, events, fractals or WvW. Farming karma is difficult currently. You should rather not go out of your way to get karma, as there is just no efficient way to get it. Just play the game, it should still add up over time.

Ability to store Trait Templates?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

I hope to see this within the year – say 3 templates with free swap between them, and unlock further storage with gems?

That seems reasonable. You can store a build for WvW, another for general PvE and one more for dungeons. Additionally they can make some money this way. I’m still unsure what to do about traits, though. Currently you need to visit a trainer to reset your traits and you have to pay a small fee. Getting rid of this would remove a gold sink from the game. Furthermore instant trait resets (another gemstore item) become obsolete.

Edit: Also, would each character have its own templates slots or do you share them on your whole account? If each character does have its own slots, should the gemstore items add an extra slot for one character or for each character on an account?

Slayer Achievements

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

Anet should just remove the slayer sigils and incorporate their effects into the slayer achievements.

You killed 1000 Centaurs? You’ll do 2% more Damage against Centaurs..
You killed 5000 Centaurs? Youll do 10% more Damage against Centaurs

and so on until you reach a certain Damage Booster Cap.

Those Slayer Achievements should just reflect the expereince of your character in slaying a certain enemy type. So more you killl a certain enemy type, so more expereinced does your character become in killing them and this should get reflected by a small Damage Boost (or/ or maybe other little positive nice effects)

Pls no more stat-boosts. Downscaling already doesn’t work properly, don’t make it even more boring…

How about nerfing the current damage vs. mobs in PvE by 10%. It is too easy at the moment anyway. Then you can increase the damage again with those achievements without causing any power creep.

Light of Dwayna Infused?

Ignavia.7420

The 2 new craftable backs cant be infused, you will have to make a infused fractal back and transmute it together.

This really sucks and I have asked why not let us infused them, but seems no one cares.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/New-Ascended-Backs-cant-infuse/first#post3385887

It’s not that they don’t care. They want you to run fractals to get your infusible back piece as that is the only place you need it anyway. It just makes sense that way. The new recipes are just a way to allow people another option to get an ascended back item without having to run fractals.

Nearly all infusable back piece can be acquired without doing fractals. To make the Book of Secrets for example, you need:

  • 250 Pile of Bloodstone Dust
  • 40 Crystal
  • 50 Glob of Ectoplasm
  • 250 Vial of Powerful Blood

The Book of Secret costs about 121g, while Light of Dwayna costs about 228g. So it is more than eligible for being infusable.

Elementalist can't swap weapons?

Ignavia.7420

Not to mention elementalists also get conjurable weapons. I think everyone would love it if they put in some way to hot swap weapons out of combat (for every profession), though.

This would indeed be very nice to have, especially for eles and engineers, Whenever I swap from two one-handed weapons to a two-handed I have to make sure the weapon goes into the right bag so that I don’t sell it accidentally. And if it’s the other way around, you need to use the clumsy context menu or drag and drop it manually to get the job done.

Why only possible to buy/sell 250 on TP?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

Actually you can stack a total of 1,000 now if you purchase the stack expander things that are for sale on tp. Each purchase of the expanders add another stack to your limit with a max of 1,000. I think if anyone who has them in any number should be allowed to buy to their stack limitations.

This new stack size only applies to the collection tab in your bank, however. You can still only have 250 of an item per stack in your inventory.

That said, I would also like to be able to buy more than 250 of an item in one go. The trading post UI needs to be overhauled in general, there are many things missing or out of place. This is not meant to make it easier to flip items on the trading post. Rumor has it there are people buying more than 250 of an item for their personal use, like Silk Scraps for example.

You can buy many cooking ingredients with karma, which therefore saves you money. In order to buy them with karma, you need to have done the associated “heart quest” (those yellow hearts on the map). Hence, no hearts means that you have no access to any of those vendors and all hearts means that you got them all.

Level 50 to 80 - how much would it cost?

in Crafting

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

For about 20 gold you can bring cooking, jewelcrafting and artificing to level 400, using the guides on http://www.gw2crafts.net/. Depending on how many materials you have, it is even going to be cheaper. This grants you about 21 levels. The other crafting disciplines are more expensive. They cost about 15+ gold each, so I would not recommend it. I guess it takes you about 2 hours to do this.
If you can afford this, go ahead. It is probably the fastest way to gain the remaining levels. But even through normal play, you can get to level 80 quite quickly (say 2-5 days, playing just a few hours each day). Since your goal is to become stronger in dungeons and WvW, it is probably best to use those for leveling up. You get some decent experience in WvW and dungeons, but you also get to know your class and the game modes itself better.

Ascended and Ferocity, will re-stat be avail?

in Crafting

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

There have been multiple threads about this already, but there was no official response, yet. So anything that follows is just speculation. I doubt there is going to be an option to change the stats once. They did it with magic find gear, but that was because they removed those items entirely. Also Berserker is still going to be BiS for direct damage and they want to look at Celestial as well. So they could try to even it out this way.
That said, I do not want a one-time restat. It is still better than getting nothing at all, but I would much rather have the ability to swap stats on ascended gear anytime I want. For some whys and hows see the link in my signature.

Should I get new gear before lvl 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

Sticking with your first gear will make the game a lot more difficult.. Don’t bother getting rare/exotic items, though. The masterwork (green) items are good enough until you hit level 80 and they are quite affordable.

I usually get new gear about every 5 levels, by buying it, crafting it myself or using what I find. To buy them, either have a look at the trading post (press o) or visit some NPCs ingame. Also after you completed a renown heart (symbolized by a yellow heart on the map), the NPC will turn into a vendor. Many of them offer decent gear in exchange for karma. You also get useful items by progressing your personal story.

Conjured Weapons. Again.

in Elementalist

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

I love conjures but the “swap=drop” system, as Katran called it, is not perfect.

  • Conjuring a fiery greatsword and going down => lost your sword.
  • Conjuring a frostbow and a fiery greatsword for Tequatl => one weapon wasted.
  • Using Mist Form while holding a conjured weapon => don’t try this at home.
  • Picking up another bundle on the ground while holding a conjured weapon => why did you bother conjuring it?

Of all solutions posted so far I like the option best, that you drop a weapon on the ground and that you can pick it back up again to use the remaining charges. The weapon should still disappears after 60 seconds and the timer is reset to 60 seconds the first time someone picks it up. The other propositions (engi kit, replace only skills of specific attunement) are probably overpowered.
There are still some problems with this: In dungeons, you could pass a fiery greatsword around, everyone does skill 3 and 4, drops it and the next person gives it a shot. This is OP as well. A solution would be to store the cooldowns in the weapon, but this is likely difficult to implement.

Don't Make Precursors Craftable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

Here’s how I think precursor crafting will go down.

  • ArenaNet makes precursors craftable, the materials for it costing a good sum of gold (hundreds and hundreds of gold) and, if any achievements are tied to them (like taking the moa egg to the Sorrow’s Furnace in GW1 and fighting the Forgeman), will require hundreds of hours of gameplay and dedication and take the player all over the world and into WvW, and have them accomplish rough challenges (solo and guild challenges)
  • The precursor market does not change by much, precursors still sold for large sums of gold
  • The materials required for precursor crafting skyrocket in price through the roof
  • People find ways to rush the process of crafting a precursor, with bans and patches all around
  • _"Waaa waaaa I thought crafting precursors was going to make them easier to obtain ;-;! It would be easier to just play the Mystic Forge or get a rare drop! Waaaa!"
  • “I thought this game was supposed to be grind-free, ArenaNet! I’m qutting waaaaa!”
  • “I wanted a precursor for playing the game! Hey I exploited the hardest dungeon in GW2! I should get a reward for that! Crafting one is tooo hard ;-; please nerf, this isn’t fun, I thought this was going to be eeeeasssyyy!”

Calling it. Screenshot this post, there will be tears when this comes out. I’m also calling out the threads that will state that dumping rares/exotics into the Mystic Forge is easier than crafting one.

That is another reason why ascended weapons are perfect as (pre-)precursors. They don’t require overly excessive grind and once you got them you already have something useful. Then you start upgrading your weapon by unlocking stats. This also requires time/money investment, but each step you take makes your weapon better (not more powerful, but more versatile). Now if all stat combos are unlocked, you have a precursor.

Going from nothing to a precursors (or even to the final legendary) can still require hundreds of hours of gameplay dedicated to this goal. But I think it is psychologically much more comfortable for people, because each of those small steps helps you in the game right away.

WvW point retrait!

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: Ignavia.7420

Ignavia.7420

There should be a way to reset traits I think. Even if it’s somewhat costly as to avoid manipulation (stuff like: “oh, we’re going for golem rush now, let me retrait quickly” should be avoided).

Maybe be able to retrait once per month.

I still don’t understand what’s so bad about re-traiting whenever we want.
In PvE you can re-trait for a specific role or for a specific dungeon. What’s the difference with WvW? It can’t be unfair since all teams would be able to do it. So I don’t really get it.

The difference is that you can get all traits in WvW. In PvE you are restricted to 70 trait points, so you have to choose here.
