Seems like your wish came true in some way.
I think the reason is – keep patch notes spoiler free. I hope.
If not – hello Frost&Flame
This is my hope, too. I wonder where that new type of portal leads to, for example. But I guess we’ll just have to check it out.
PS: Oh great, the download just finished.
They are going to add the chests in Scarlet’s Liar back in. So if you have enough to make a cipher, keep them until then.
2) Can I sell it on the Trading Post? I check the price and if I’d get more that way than selling it to a merchant (after taxes – using the ‘projected profit’ value) then I sell it.
Be careful there. The projected profit only reduces the 10% tax for selling an item. You still need to remove the 5% fee for posting an item.
That’s not what I’ve found when testing it. For an example see the screenshot attached.
I’m selling 1 Omnomberry bar for 4s 27c.
I’m given a listing fee of 22c, and a projected profit of 3s 84c.That doesn’t add up. If it was only subtracting the listing fee it would show a projected profit of 4s and 5c.
I’ve also tested it with actual sales. I sell a minor rune for 18c and the projected profit is 16c. If I don’t sell anything else in the meantime what appears in my pickup tab is 16c.
You need to pay the listing fee right away. This is why your returned money equals the projected profit.
If you sell something on the trading post, you need to pay two fees. First a 5% listing fee, that you cannot get back even after removing your item from the trading post again. Then you need to pay an additional 10% fee after you actually sold the item.
The projected profit only displays what you get back after selling the item (sell price – 10%). It does not take into account, that you also have to pay the 5% listing fee.
If you do the maths on your example, it works out exactly. The sell price (before taxes) is 4s 27c. The projected profit is 3s 84c = 90% * 4s 27c (after rounding). But on top of this, you need to pay the 22c listing fee. Watch your money when listing an item and you can see that.

As GuzziHero said, Quaggans cannot be turned into a playable race, because they are one of the “lesser races” in Tyria. You can study them during your personal story. This rules out skritt as well. Does that make me a Quaggan hater? Certainly not.
I would rephrase it to “Scholar classes = shafted”.
For a full set of light armor you need 10800 Silk Scraps and 900 Thick Leather Sections. For the complete set of medium armor it is 7200 Silk Scraps and 2700 Thick Leather Sections. The heavy armor set needs 7500 Silk Scraps and 1600 Mithril Ore. On top of the cost of the materials, light armor even takes longer to craft than the others, because of the timegates.
There will be no patch at march 18th
There is going to be patch on March 18th. It is not “the big one”, however. They are apparently removing glory then.
You need to discover the (character) level 80 exotic weapons. This guide can provide some more concrete information.
This looks like what I’m looking for! So, should I discover Pearl Tridents, say, and craft those up to 450?
It’s always better to discover new things instead of making old ones, because discoveries give you some bonus experience. But you can, of course, discover Shaman’s Pearl Trident, then Settler’s Pearl Trident, then Rabid Pearl Trident, followed by Soldier’s Pearl Trident, etc. Just make sure to have a look at the price of an inscription on the TP; some are considerably more expensive than others.

http://dulfy.net/2014/02/19/gw2-memories-in-your-hand-pile-of-rubble-achievement-guide/ heres a guide (if this is even allowed to be posted)
Since Anet named a champ in the Urban Battleground Fractal after her, I think you can post this here.
2. The achievement of “Everyone follow me to the exit” is stuck at 4 out of six and I have done them all. Plus would it really kill you to have it tell us which ones we still need!?
Make sure, that you kill something during those events. Especially with lower level/lower damage characters this can be a bit of a problem. But as long as you know which event is missing, you can just try that one until it’s completed.
Well, no. If you really want to buy legendary stuff, you can always buy gems and convert them to gold.
To answer your question about the “when”: The patch on March 18th is not going to be the feature patch. It is a maintenance patch where they remove glory from PvP and boost rank point rewards.
This is what I hope for:
- Unlockable stats on ascended gear -> precursor crafting
- Some improvements to commander tags
- Bugfixes (especially on world boss events)
- Build Templates
You can copy the game links from the wiki, paste it in the chat and preview the items ingame on your character.
I found only one thing on the map that was any use to me. A link to a page I did not know about.
There is a link on the Map page that goes to this site that seems a much more useful tool. It collects most everything about the Living Story arc in one place. It is a tab called ‘Latest Release’ on the right side of the second tab bar, and is currently the only entry on that bar.
www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/EDIT: Well I guess I don’t know how to properly link in this forum. Worked fine on my guild’s forum.
You need to put http:// in front of the address.
To topic: It’s is a nice way to bring all the parts of the living story together, well done! I’m still missing one thing, though.
Thanks again for the answers and opinions so far
I think I’ll try elementalist at start and see how it goes.
Now that the class is decided….1. Does race actually matter? I can see there’s some racials but anything that makes difference in levelling or at level cap?
2. Crafting, any preferred combos for elementalists? Or should i go strictly for gathering materials to sell for some income at the start?
1. The racials skills are usually weaker than your normal profession skills. Therefore, you should just choose whatever you like.
2. Jeweler and chef are nice to have for all classes, but for an elementalist tailor (light armor) and artificer (all your weapons except dagger) are most fitting. You can learn all crafting disciplines if you like, but you can only have two active at the same time. Swapping retains your progress, but it costs 10 bronze per level to swap back.
(can you mail / send items / gold between your characters?)
No, you cannot mail items between characters of the same account. You do, however, have an account wide wallet for gold, karma, laurels and dungeon tokens. Furthermore, you have access to an account wide bank, which you can use to transfer items between you characters.
and let me elaborate that grindy question, What i meant was…is there always something other to do than just mindlessly kill mobs / npcs for exp. ie quests / dungeons / raids etc for the lower lvls aswell?
I don’t like being stuck having to kill hundreds of wildspawn mobs to lvl up before i can get to new quests / area.
Some sources of experience:
- Gathering
- Crafting
- Reviving
- Events
- Map completion (skillpoints, waypoints, points of interest, renown hearts, vistas)
- Activities
- Dungeons (starting on level 30)
- Personal story
- Achievements
- Killings stuff
As you can see, you get experience for almost everything you do and there are always multiple maps for your current level, including the ones below you level, because of downscaling.
You could even check out the current living story event in Lion’s Arch. You will be upscaled to level 80. But for a starter with starting equipment, no traits/skills, this is pretty hard and I would not recommend it.

I don’t really care whether I have to convert UTC to my local time or whether I have to convert the time in Seattle. Both just requires a quick Google search and I’m done.
You can’t farm leather from nodes either. The discrepancy is that the recipes are equal, it’s the market prices that are not. Apparently, clothies are more popular classes and therefor the demand for tailoring supplies is higher, thus driving prices up. If the recipes were equalized based on today’s market pricing, in time the market will shift and the costs will be uneven. It’s just a shame that the costs are so vastly different.
Please don’t type something unless you know wtf you are talking about.
Elonian Cord: 50 cured thick leather square = 100 hardened Sections
Silk Weaving Thread: 100 bolts of silk = 200 silk scraps
yep no imbalance there….
In fact, it is 150 Thick Leather Sections for the Elonian Cord and 300 Silk Scraps for the Silk Weaving Thread. The ratio is the same, though.
Precursor crafting is highly likely to come at some point in the future. First they are still working on it (dev response) and second there are already some items in the game that are apparently linked to it (data mine).

The stat combination you are looking for is Valkyrie. According to dulfy.net you can choose Valkyrie stats on the exotic version of the new Spinal Blade back item. But apparently the ascended version only allows Berserker stats + Valkyrie upgrade. Light of Dwayna and Shadow of Grenth also only allow for the mix of Berserker/Valkyrie.
All exotics of some type (Berserker, Soldier, Knight, …) have exactly the same stats, so it’s all about looks.
I really don’t hear that many people complaining bout ascended. You are one of the few.
I don’t know if you would call the people that posted in the 41 page long CDI “the few”. Of course not anybody was against the way ascended gear is implemented currently, but the fact that there was such a long discussion proves, that many people are asking for improvements. But – as always – the more time passes, the less people talk about it.
As I said on various other locations, I like that you have to do some work to get your first set of ascended gear. But after that there should be means to unlock stats (that can be grindy, if they want it). This gives people something to aim for after getting the first set, while still allowing for multiple builds and to some extend alts.
Then there should be a link from ascended to legendary by using fully unlocked ascended gear as a precursors, so that you can cosmetically upgrade ascended weapons. This of course prevents them from adding further tiers above ascended, so they have to make a lasting decision here.

Two out of three references to Arenanet were destroyed. Currently there is only the “logo”-fence left. Before there was a point of interest called " Tenanera ’s Pit" (read it backwards) and as Donari pointed out, the place was used as an arena for minipet battles and there hung a net above the arena.

We had that bug happen to us like two month ago as well. Did the timer stop as well? Did he stop attacking? When it occurred to us, he also quickly reappeared after we got him down to 25%, just to smash the megalaser and get invisible again. After that we could attack him on the previous spot. But at least we got him down and got the reward.
There is already a longer thread about it. This problem is older than the last patch and seems to be caused by picking up a bundle the moment it disappears (because of its timer or because another player picked it up). The only workarounds so far seem to zone out/log out or get downed. Some claim that /dance fixed it for them, but it did not help for me.
The Fire Elemental meta-event in Metrica Province seems to be bugged on Dzagonur. The step “Destroy the Chaotic Materials” does not start, even though we cleared at least 7 of the events where you have to defeat a veteran in one of the chambers already. According to http://us.gw2stuff.com/en/events/dzagonur, the event is currently 3 hour 27 minutes past the end of the cooldown.
Edit: Now we are at a minimum of 8.
Edit 2: After pulling a moskito to Rooba, the chaotic material event started. Apparently he was somehow stuck underneath his golem all the time. This was likely the cause of the bug.

This would be great. Also add an infinite achievement that is unlocked after you complete this one and awards loot bags for every 100 citizens saved. This way you can keep people going.
When I did the event to today there were two commanders on the map and as always 90% of the people were following them. One of the commanders was even demanding that everybody follows him. We ended up saving a mere 550 citizens.
I tried to convince people, that zerging is counter-productive when it comes to saving citizens, but most just cared for simple loot. Unfortunately I did not have any arguments against that, because encouraging citizens does not give you rewards right away (neither loot nor experience). Kind of proves once again that most people are selfish.
Edit: My point here is that saving citizens should give some instant gratification. Be it a Found Belonging, experience or something that counts towards an infinite achievement giving a loot bag every time its completed. This is what gets people to do the event the way it’s intended (because most people are looking for maximum loot).

There is already a thread here, but there are not many answers, yet. Can’t hurt to have another thread in another subforum.
They seem to be adding more ways to get Obsidian Shards. You can now – at least temporarily – buy them using Found Belongings.
Same problem on Dzagonur. The miasma level raises as usual and we are also getting notifications. However, the counter is not only a display bug, we are really not getting any rewards.
Trying for those armor boxes seems a better choice.
Though I’ll point out the silk thread thing is a 4 hour timer, not 1 day. I made one earlier and I can make another now.
Seems like selling Damask would be best <_<.
They are on a one day timer, but that means you can only craft one between two resets. So if it’s four more hours till the next reset, you can craft another one at that time (but then you have to wait 24 hours till the reset after that).
Easy solution for this: Ascended gear is the precursor for legendary armor, then you can stat swap it once you do the final upgrade.
Totally agree with this. Some kind of link between ascended and legendary would be awesome. Instead of using ascended stuff as precursors right away I would propose that they add a way to unlock stats. Once you unlocked them all, you have a precursor. This makes it easier to adjust the price for ascended and adds more options for players. They do not have to go for legendaries, but can just unlock the stats they want, stop there and maybe come back later if they feel like it.
Ascended Gear should be tradable. Even legendaries can be traded, why not ascended?
In my opinion legendaries should not have been tradable in the first place. They should rather show that you put some effort into getting them. Of course that would have required a different way to getting precursors.
That ascended stuff is accountbound makes sense to me. They can now add more ways to acquire them, like using karma, laurels, etc.
In all honesty, I doubt they will extend it because one person asks for it. As far as I know, the permanent pass for the Royal Terace was never added to the gemstore again. So you are better off to get it during the announced period.
Yeah, thanks Anet for the minis, the boosters and the revive orb.
(edited by Ignavia.7420)
you can get onto overflow servers and get double the 40ish you can get daily can’t you?
You can loot each pile once per account and day. So you can neither switch servers nor characters.
I agree with this. Some time ago I posted a similar request in the suggestions subforum, which is now archived (link).
I also wonder if you can use it in combat or if it disables your skills.
This is an awesome way of progression. You start out with a basic item and upgrade it as far as you want (first making it more powerful, then making it better looking), but no progress is destroyed along the way.
I would love this for (at least) ascended weapons/armor/trinkets as well. Like you start with an ascended item, unlock stat combos and once you have all stat combos you have a precursor, which you can then use to make a legendary weapon. This last step is the same as the purely cosmetic upgrade from the Tempered Spinal Blade to one the others with nicer colors.
Concerned about Captain's airship passes.

This is equivalent to the Royal Terace in Divinity’s reach. Its just a convenient place where everything is closer together. The services of LA are going to be moved to Vigil’s Keep.
I like what they want to do with the next WvW seasons. You get tickets for participation and you can exchange them later on. I think something similar would be great here. Either you get tickets which can be exchanged for those special drops or you get lucky and get the drops right away.
I would wait until the feature patch on March 18th, maybe we get some changes to ascended gear to make it more useful, like unlockable stat combos. One can only hope.
A quick list of what I think about ascended:
1. Anet has to announce that ascended is the final rarity level
2. It is OK that the first set of ascended gear on a character is expensive
3. Ascended gear locks you into a build
4. If you want a legendary weapon you should skip the ascended weapon
5. If legendary trinkets/armors are ever introduced your ascended trinkets/armor become obsolete
If you want to know how that all connects and how those problems can be resolved have a look at [Suggestion] Extensible Ascended Gear/Precursor Crafting.
