That is also my most burning question. I hope that you can swap between specializations or between the normal and the specialized profession. I’m not really keen on leveling another 8 characters. But I guess we’ll have to wait some time till we find out.

I’ve actually received the achievement several times, but it isn’t giving me credit for the entire Festival achievement. I’m stuck at 9/11 events completed even though several events have completed and keep cycling. Case in point Bell Choir, Snowball Mayhem, and Toypocalypse. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve completed these but they aren’t giving credit towards finishing the “A Very Merry Wintersday” Festival achievement. Frustrating.

You can click on the meta achievement to see which achievement actually count. The infinite ones like Bell Choir don’t.

I had the same error yesterday, when I tried to enter the Mad King’s Labyrinth and now with the Bloodtide Coast. Note that the Evolved Jungle Wurm is coming in 5 minutes. Maybe the server does not create enough instances?

This is the design of all teleportation skills. You can usually only teleport where you can walk without jumping, so that you cannot get to areas that are normally inaccessible.

Just being able to buy arbitrary amounts of any item (max. 250) would be better than adding bulk options to each item manually. This is way more flexible and it should take less time to implement in the long run.

The maps (press M) display what level you are supposed to be to tackle them. You can use the waypoints to get back to an appropriate place, there is no need to run all the way back. The compass in the top right corner provides some guidance where you could go. There is no need to follow it, though, if you don’t like it, you can disable it.

If you want an unbreakable, permanent tool, you have to buy one from the Gem Store. You can only have it on one toon at a time.

These tools are account-bound, though, so you can swap them between your characters using the bank. Not exactly the best solution, but better than nothing.

Temple of Balthazar is supposed to have something like that but that is still 2h + 20m x ?tries

If the wiki is correct, the first defend event starts after 1:45 hours and the second, which is an almost certain failure, after another hour. Since the event chain is very long and you need the temple to be open to buy Obsidian Shards that seems reasonable.

For all other temples something like 1 hour until the first event and another 30 minutes till the second event should be OK.

they should have a thing, where every time the temple is successfully defended, the attacking enemies get harder. not drop more loot: just get harder. it would be an internal multiplier. so 1st attack: normal. 2nd attack: 120% of normal health and damage. 3rd attack: 150% of normal health and damage. 4th attack: 190% of normal health and damage. eventually, the defense would fail and it would reset to normal health and damage.
this makes strategic sense as well. Why would zhaitan keep sending the same 30 risen to take a temple when it keeps failing? If he wants the temple, he’s going to send more risen, or stronger risen. or he’d abandon the temple. sending the same force repeatedly is senseless.

That’s an awesome idea. I guess it deserves it’s own thread for better visibility.

It’s good to know the game is still being sold. I’m currently filling my Hall of Monuments and the closer I get to those 50 points, the more I fear the game is going to be shut down the next day.

FGS nerf will remove it from play

Considering that 2, 3 and 5 are entirely untouched, no, this will not remove it from PvE in any way, shape or form. It’ll just no longer constitute ~75% of burst output of a PvE group.

2: If your group is not already stacking burning, you are doing it wrong.
5: Ice Storm is much better.
3: I did not do exact calculations on this one, but the Lightning Hammer autoattack should easily out-DPS this one even if you do it into a corner.

Hence, Fiery Rush into corner was the only reason why FGS was viable outside of giving you great mobility. If they implement the change as presented here, FGS is no longer an option in PvE.

I’m not in favour of tying a class to the weapon they use. Give it a week after the class comes out and people will whine about not being able to use a greatsword on there staff master.

Well, unlocking areas is not required for this achievement as long as you discovered all vistas, POI, waypoints, skill challenges and hearts. I’d suggest you go over the list the OP linked, print it maybe and tick the locations off one by one.

It’s not a bug, it’s intended. Some weapons change your skill animations, most often the projectiles.

If defeated players also drop something from their inventory for every attacking player, I’m all into it — a long as they add an item to the gemstore to make you immune to such attacks.

Jokes aside, a feature like this would just give the trolls more options to troll. If someone is really griefing, you can just report him. If the reports are justified some action will be taken eventually.

We just had this (link to video) happen on the Dzagonur borderland at about 20:30 (CEST) along with some more major lag. The game would just pause for several seconds at a time for everyone we had on TS.

Several people just had pretty bad lag on the Dzagonur borderland. There were some interesting sideeffects that are definitely not caused by routing issues (link to video).

I’ll say it again: There has to be more to the commander tags than just new colors. During the CDI last year, the leader of WvW asked if we just wanted new colors in the short term or if we wanted to wait longer term and get a more complete overhaul. Given that they didn’t release the new tags in the short term, he would seem quite silly if they only release new colors now. I like to think he is better than that.

As for the mastery skill, that is blah. I do like the new trick though. That should make things more exciting.

Because of the heading and since they already seem to have revealed the complete first week at Gamescom, I’m afraid it really is just the color. But I agree, that this would be a huge letdown given how much time they had so far. The blogpost tomorrow is going to be quite interesting nonetheless. I’m curious if they stick to their decision to make each color cost 300g or if they backpedal.

Unless Thursday’s blog says there’s a new map, I’ll be sorely disappointed by this “feature” patch.

I can’t really think of anything else they could say on Thurs. that would help.

I think they will just talk about the reworked combat log. They won’t “announce” that tomorrow and it is definitely something that belongs to week 1.

If they didn’t charge extra for the colors, and just increased the price, everyone would buy it now for 100 gold, get all the colors after the patch, and the price increase would be rendered pointless. I know you guys say that you need colors to coordinate, but you seem to be doing okay now. Why are colors essential? I get that they’re nice to have, but essential?

Nothing is essential, you get along fine without commander tags at all, you could play the game if there was no Eternal Battlegrounds, some people would also like the game if there was no WvW at all. It’s just a matter of how good the game wants to be.

Colors are a nice way to organize multiple commander. You can look at the map and see — or at least limit — right away which commander you want to join. A second step could be squad descriptions. Just like that you can find out in a couple of seconds what is going on on a map.

I cannot really explain it any better than the Wiki.

In your specific case, you have

  • 5922 base health (determined by your profession)
  • 1016 vitality (white heart icon), which translates to 10160 health (vitality * 10)

This adds up to 16082 health overall. In the first picture your server has tier 1 robustness, which increases your health by 1% and in your last pictures your server has tier 6 robustness (+6% health).

Did I miss some announcement? I have been under the impression that the price change is due to it being account bound. Price has nothing to do with the color. Totally confused as to why everyone is flipping out.

The price change is due to it becoming acokitten bound. The uproar is due to each color costing 300g.

It affects PvE and WvW and all buffs are reset every week. The more points your server has, the better the buff becomes. Just press b in game and see what buffs you currently have. Then check back tomorrow to see if something changed.

That doesn’t make any sense. Keep Vistas as Vistas. What they should change are the Points of Interest. Instead of just discovering them for exp only, you find it, get its name, Icon appears on top of your map, you press it and you get a page worth of information and historical references of the place in question and a cool picture.

Would you suggest to use a picture of GW2 or a picture of GW1? The latter might also be a nice advertisement for the first game.

Honestly, FGS is too strong against walled targets right now. You give yourself and a teammate the weapon, and the damage on skills 3 and 4 are just too good. Even without skills 3 and 4, skills 1 and 5 are good enough to validate using the weapon in the first place. As for Meteornado, I can’t speak for it, as I’ve never tried it before.

The Glyph of Storms will probably cause Vulnerability, Blindness or Weakness by the way.

(I say this as someone who mains an Ele.)

I would never use FGS for its autoattack. Just spamming the dagger air autoattack is doing more damage, let alone Lightning Hammer. I would also always prefer an Ice Storm over FGS 5. It’s pretty much only skills 3/4 that make FGS viable at the moment and if you cannot rush them into a wall they are pretty average, too.

So if they really want to change the functionality of skills 3/4, they better improve the weapon overall and by that I don’t mean making it more “usable”. Other than that they can just tweak some numbers and tone down the damage of the fiery trail, but that would just push FGS further into the niche of being used into a corner (pun not intended).

I read that interview as well and it made absolutely no sense to me.

SAB should be a permanent part of the game – even if they dont update it for a long time (they should update it though – alot of people loved it). I view it as more of a minigame than part of the narrative content.

If the issue is the reward, simply remove the weapons. Most people want it back simply because it’s something fun to do.

This is pretty much it. Kegbrawl and all the other minigames also don’t fit into the current story, but they are still nice to have around. They could maybe open up SAB every Saturday or so.

You can also get PvP versions of the armor and weapons in achievement chests. I got the PvP version of Feathers of Dwayna, which is a 300+ gold short bow, and can now use it in PvE for my Thief and Ranger.

As there are no PvP weapons anymore, you no longer get those drops from achievement chests.

Mobs should rather step out of damage and position themselves. Unless you do Fiery Rush against a wall, it’s damage is just fine. Also, did you ever try to use it against another (moving) player? They will just laugh at you. Seriously, Kholer, there are no tanks in this game, learn to dodge and kite!

If you enjoyed ranger, ele and mesmer, you should stick with these. It is most important to just have fun, as there is no class that really stands out at the moment. Ranger is currently a bit behind the others, but it is getting buffed in September and it is quite a good solo profession already.

How consistent is A net with their promises? Because I used to play a game made this company called Wargaming they promised stuff 2 years ago but it still yet have to come

Anet’s policy is that everything they announce is subject to change. So just because they create a blogpost about something does not mean that it really is coming. There are things like precursors crafting that were promised quite some time ago, but kept being delayed:

We want to let you know that the ability to build your precursor will not be in our upcoming Feature Pack. The way progression and rewards work in Guild Wars 2 have changed quite a bit since we initially talked about that feature, and our main horizontal progression systems are about to get some additional updates in the upcoming feature pack. Because of that, we are looking into several ways to integrate building your precursor into our new updated reward and progression systems we’re working on, which is requiring additional development time and iteration. As always, we’ll share details on this system once it’s far enough along in production we’re ready to discuss it.

Back to the guild rework: I think this one is definitely going to be implemented in the near future, because the guild upgrades already work like this in the Chinese version.
