I want to play with my bad friends again.

Iris Ng.9845

Now I usually help my “bad” friends to progress on their raid practice/kill after Monday. The bonus is I get to cap shards and they get closer to their kills. So my week would look like this: Kill the boss with a better group on Monday/Tuesday. Help the other inexperienced or just late scheduled groups from Tuesday to Friday then help with the learning/training groups or the Eternal groups during the weekend. I think it’s a misconception that if you cannot carry, you can’t play with your friends. What kinds of “friend” are you?

A repost: Baby, I’ve got no gear

Please sing it in your mind with imaginary Gabe’s voice especially this part:

(Come on let’s go) Baby, I’ve got no gear
(The answer is no?) Baby, I’ve got no gear
(We really need you) Just tell them I have the flu
(To beat this boss) I’d rather kiss a krait demoss

or this

(Gorseval will be beaten) Woman, you’re beyond reason
(On this I think we both can agree) But I’m level seventy-three
(I just want to raid) Delusions of grandeur
[Both] Baby, (you)/I know

Shiro has a cheap and reusable CC, a gap closing, an extra dodge meaning more mobility and a fairly offensive heal on top of a small quickness burst. It’s totally reasonable to bring Shiro when your raid group is a little shaky, allowing to cover a range of duties: CC, rezzing, green circle, etc.

Freshwater Pearls are absurdly rare.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

If you want to gather the Pearls, I suggest you not go through the harvesting route. Instead, park all your characters at the small chests in Tangle Depth. Despite not any much better, I still manage to gather ~5 Pearls with 11 characters after a week. If you want to increase your odds, you can do the chest train daily (~8-10 chests in TD) with different characters.

The pearl is as rare as Giant Eyes before HoT.

So you farmed for a week something that cost 25 gold total?

You could spent 90 min doing SW events, and collect 30 gold by opening all bags on low level.

I will never understand logic of people farming something rare for weeks, when you can do SW for one day, earn 200 gold and buy whatever you want.

I don’t know,maybe i’m doing it all wrong.Maybe i should quit SW farm…Strange world this is…

Same as for people who wait 30 days for bolt 30 of damask…They could spent 2 days doing sw events, and buy 50 of those…

Nope, what I farm are the flax and the chests that also gives loads of Ley line crystals and Rare Reclaimed weapons. The Pearls are just a bonus that it seems to drop more frequently from chests than from mussels nodes. And no, if I had sold everything, which I did not because I am completing many collections at the same time myself, I could have made 20g per 50 minutes flat per day.

You really live in a strange world when you think it’s your right to preach about how to farm gold in a game that you have no ideas how easy it is to make gold outside of burying your head in the sand of Silverwaste.

Lv 64 Frac Anomaly - Raid Like Boss

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Welcome to Sabetha where the majority of casualty is to get sparta’d off the platform or into the Flame Wall. The rest of the time, it’s people who try to tank the aoe damage, get crippled or wrong positioning. I could argue that any irritating mechanics are cheap as well. But I have fun overcoming the challenge.

That instability during Mossman also makes the fight extra hilarious!

Lv 64 Frac Anomaly - Raid Like Boss

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Iris Ng.9845

Iris Ng.9845

Oh I enjoyed this boss a lot, even though I was frigging hating it. It’s actually challenging with a couple of frustrating instabilities.

The one where your crit damage gives the boss retaliation, protection and aegis? Instantly blowing up any yolo tempest. The one where it applies immob/fear, it makes people constantly on their toes and preserve their cool down. I think the most challenging part of the boss is it has way too frequent agony attacks which become more deadly as the attrition grows longer. The shattering platform is just a cherry on top… Yum, suffering!

In terms of difficulty, I think Anomaly is on par with his cousin Vale Guardian. I’m not sure if he gets easier after the patch, I just speak from my experience with a 64 pug, like, a month ago.

Iris Ng.9845

@Ryn

What this vid clearly shows is that the engineer gets completly swamped by the tasks he should be doing. I don’t care about “famous” people or guilds, this engi plays poorly and struggles with his own rotation. Look at how often he’s only spamming nade aa while other skills like barrage, poison nades, shrapnel nades or poison shell are off cd. He does unnecessary pushes who even miss and doesnt throw nades while moving to the green fields …

Engi is harder to play, warrior is easy. That’s what this vid shows. It’s hard to tell how much damage both of them really deal or rather WOULD deal if there was a decent engi playing. I’d say war deals a bit more damage, yet engi got cc for seeker. But in the end the condi professions dps don’t matter too much on VG since he only has 2000 armor and power professions deal the real damage to him.

I don’t think he ever used Poison Shell…

I think war does a bit more steady damage, and engi is better for groups which struggle with the green circle task, especially with a poor lead that results in circle spawns repeatedly in the lit section. I’ve seen really good engi play and honestly, I don’t believe that condi berserker is the best choice here – just easier to push a bit more dps for an average group.

I have traited wardens up on that fight and pretty sure you cannot reflect any projectiles from any bosses, including Kernan and Sabetha.

The only thing you can reflect are Deranged Spirits and Angered Spirits. I’m not sure about Bandit Sappers but our group tends to keep them alive a little longer than usual in case our members miss their throwing bombs.

In that sense, these projectiles also go through any blocking defense.

Iris Ng.9845

Howdy,

We are a super pug group that succeeded in several Eternal runs and thus decided to form our own regular roster – The Forsaken Forest [FF]. There are currently 50 people in the guild. Most of us are chill, highly skilled and helpful. We are looking for to expand the roster with active raiders in EST/PST time zone.

We do have our requirement for new recruits: Have at least one fully ascended character and good understanding on the raiding meta – preferably skillful enough to be able to solo some Open World Champions. Cooperative attitude and strong leadership are always welcome. We welcome Casuals and Elitists alike – as long as they have the skills to back themselves up and enough charisma to keep people in their group.

Teams are formed at daily reset (7:00 pm EST) and start raiding from Monday to Wednesday. We pick up the slackers on Thursday and do Eternal runs by request during the weekend.

If this post interests you enough, please send a mail or whisper to:

  • Me (Iris Ng.9845)
  • Sims (Wizxzit.4207)
  • Chio (gravelord.1726)

Footnote: The guild is non-rep. We do Fractals and what not sometimes.
Second footnote: Sims is poor and living on social welfare. However, do not feed the beast.
Third footnote: We can’t carry you for your title but as long as you don’t sux, there is still hope.

You’re missing a lot of essential info, unless you are not playing chronomancer…
Shield Phantasms don’t give quickness. Half of the “permanent” quickness up time comes from signet of inspiration, which transfer quickness boon of the chrono to nearby allies. Hence, everyone else needs to be in range of the chrono. Some of the quickness contribution comes from Tides of Time, which requires the enemy to be in range. To keep up permanent quickness, the chrono needs 100% aclarity up time (no joke) – this also translate to high aclarity up time to everyone else.

Ascended or go home...

Iris Ng.9845

Hey guys,

I just want to chime in that getting ascended gear is not hard. We already have several collections that awards ascended weapons (Specialization Collection) and ascended armor boxes (Leystone armor, Luminescence armor, Ambrite Weapons). If you play PvP daily, it is a very decent source of random ascended boxes – just pop them on Monday during Greater Call of the Mist buff. Chances are you get a box every 15-20 containers. Now if you are into raid, keep it in mind that the ascended weapon/armor drop rate from the boss chest is fairly high, about 15% – meaning 1 or 2 per raid squad would get an ascended piece for every boss. If you are unlucky, continue to farm practice the encounter to cap the shards and you will be able to pick up an ascended box of your choice after 2-3 weeks. With careful planning, I have got 3 ascended pieces bought with magnetic shards. In the end, if you save any spare change from crafting ascended gears, spend it on proper food please. That means condi duration on condi classes, boon duration on boon keeping classes, and slaying potion on power classes at the bare minimum.

Nothing ticks me off more than some dudes laced with ascended gears and several legendary weapon skins skimp on quality food, play like kittens and worst, take their sweet time to waste other people’s food time.

Totally not dungeon related but it was funny to share.

I was in a pug Chak Gerent map taxi-ing a few guild members in. Before I picked the lane, I asked for numbers in each squad and then decided to go for SCAR, which always has trouble with DPS. As I stood there, the commander in SCAR started to harass me for not being in his/her squad. I told them I was taxi-ing people and I’m fine with the fight, I don’t need any de-brief. Then this commander aggressively tried to chase me away and in the process, riled up a few member of his squad to being rude to me. So, I ignored them and just focus on the fight. The boss went from 55% after the first burn to 15% after the second burn and completely dead shortly during the last burn. No scaling, no problems. The best part is our know-all commander swiftly brought his whole team to “help” Ogre lane and scaled the kitten up. Event failed. Gee gee.

So much for being an kitten to one person for not being in his squad then proceed to be not in his right place.

Today’s existential question : Chrono with Commander’s or Scrapper tank (Vale/Gorseval)?

I pick Chrono tank for Vale and Scrapper tank for Gorseval, simply based on the required proximity of the tank to the boss at all time. Scrapper is semi-range while Chrono is melee-based, so the more the tank needs to move ahead of the boss, the less useful a chrono tank would make. Chrono benefits a lot to heavy War/Tempest comp and in that light, they need to move with this sub-group more often.

I’ve also seen some splendid Druid tank at Gorseval.

Point is, if a group can clear a wing under 50 minutes with 1-2 minutes (!!!) to spare on each boss kill, they obviously don’t need to use expensive food. So the food shouldn’t be the hindrance factor for their replay ability of the raid. There are some reasonable suggestions out there for reward rework, but definitely not removing the weekly cap.

Also, asking for rewards from ANet for helping others has never really worked in GW2 since launch and I doubt it will ever be. The closest I’ve seen is from player-agreement trade in which players tip or agree to pay to get carried.

Back then, you had 2 choices: selling Arah or farming FrostGorged Sound/Coiled Watch all days. Not much different from now.

I don’t mind the weekly cap at all. However, the idea of increasing weekly base reward is certainly welcome in my book. I’d like to see about 30-50 g per wing clear (with buff) with at least 150 shard cap per week – enough to afford 1 cheapest ascended box!

@Perry: I’ve seen (and heard from) folks selling 100 g per slot for VG in NA. I reckon most of the “good players”’s gold coming from the lucrative dungeon/fractal selling service. So in this case, raids provides some incredible money-making opportunities for good players like you. Making raid farmable is, on the other hand, just frustrating to casual and yes-lifer players.

Your experience is so profound that, except in your case, it’s backwards. x)

To OP, it’s been only two weeks (counting this week as the third). It’s not too late. For example, my casual guild only rolls out the teaching runs this weekend after clearing the first boss reliably multiple times. I expect pug teaching run will come in the near future. If and only if you don’t want to miss out on the weekly rewards, I’ve already seen some squads selling VG rewards for 100 g per slot per 10-min run (<incredibly lucrative PvE rewards there>)

For once, I don’t mind another “Open World Boss guild” (like this one) to become a raid tester. At least they are openly honest about their skill level and genuinely excited about and committed to a challenge that it is refreshing to see their opinions on it.

Rather than some individuals think they are better than everyone else, but always try to taxi to the “Open World Boss Guild”- organizing maps to profit off others’ hard labor.

Just my two cents.

Also, congratulations to DnT for the world #first removal.

Iris, genuine excitement and happy faces do not help in testing a raid catered to the extreme and only the best players, does it?

The raid testing needs to be pushed to extremes, not to the happy middle ground. If the latter is the case, raids are just dungeons or high level fractals. And they were supposed to be something more.

Thats why they need to get another dedicated guild on track. I can’t suggest any names because I dont wanna discredit anyone I didnt mention. I know there are guilds in here more than capable of doing this.

Really, did you look at the link? That PvX guild beats the first boss.

So, what makes you think that the Open World Boss Guilds do not have some of the best players? They have positive attitude and they also beat the Raid boss themselves. Moreover, they have persistence and organization, and they are perfect targets of this type of content (raid).

To be fair, this raid is difficult. I haven’t beaten it yet with my static group. So props to any Open World Boss Guilds that beat it on the first day – you deserve special attention and even invitation to beta testing.

tl;dr – Guild name or their main activity means nothing to their actual achievement. Face it or step up.

1. Be prepared: Aside from Signet of Fury and Signet of Might, bring extra condi cleanse or stun break to anticipate an encounter. Outrage is a very cheap stun break with a lot of adrenaline gain.
2. Bring a second Defensive weapon set when you need a breathing room and swap out of your greatsword – bursting weapon set.
3. Strafe ranged attack, dodge killshot, block channeling – e.g. smokescale/stalker, max melee and kite slow targets – e.g. champion troll/spider, interrupt foes with no defiance bar, line-of-sight mobs…
4. Identify attack patterns and dangerous killshots.
5. Watch your HP…
6. Like 2. Use your weapons wisely. Mace MH is good against a single target like Bosses and it helps break defiance bar when you solo. Hammer is a good AoE CC. Shield is a better block against Stalker/Mushroom Bomber than Sword, Warhorn is good for kiting, Axe is good for fast max-melee attack…

There are more organized maps with meta events in NA than in EU. The EU people seems not to have enough coverage, from what I observed while playing in both NA and EU.
