Hmmm, dwarves.
I like the race, like the idea.
But, aside from the whole turned to stone thing, I am sorta wondering about the differences between the males and females.
From some different lore sources, the beards are the only way to tell them apart…
I use the items that have a specific name, not the generic blah blah berserk XXX.
According to devs, named exotics have exactly the same chance of producing a precursor as any other exotics of the same level.
Yes, that is true.
I am not saying I have better luck with that.
Although, this is how I have gotten all of my 4 pre’s from the MF in the last 9 months.
The OP asked, “what did you put in?”
I am relaying to him/her what I do.
That’s all.
(edited by Jenstone.6891)
4 from the MF and purchased 5 from the TP
When I use the MF, I use only exotics and of the same type.
(IE, 4 GS or 4 scepters, or you get the idea)
Since August 2014 I have gotten Dusk, Storm, the Axe, the Shortbow.
I use the items that have a specific name, not the generic blah blah berserk XXX.
I only use the MF a couple times a week, some times I get lucky, sometimes I don’t.
Yup, its all RNG. Some days, it is like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one, with a pretty good payout.
Other days, I get buffs, merchant expresses, etc.
The good drops keep me going back for more, the bad drops, well are an encouragement to stop opening chests. But I may just get that one really good drop…..
I got the Ultimate HoT package and I have, already, used my char slot.
In fact, I just leveled up to level 32 last night.
Might be a bug, report it.
But if you are talking about the bonus slot, I have no idea, I have not received that one yet.
By profession and then race.
All are level 80 with exception of 1.
- Mesmer

think this makes 22
I figure to have 3 or 4 of then new profession,
Hoelbrack is my go to spot, now for just about everything I need.
Black Citadel is nice, because everything is relatively close, especially the farming nodes in the personal home instance.
If I am on the west side of the map, Rata Sum is my go to place.
I have never liked the Grove.
Divinities Reach is beautiful, but big and not so compact.
As for the new LA, I like it a lot.
However, not so fond of the lay out, but it is beautiful.
I am pretty impressed by the work that went into it.
But since the patch, my transit times into LA has almost tripled and I have experienced a bit of lag while there.
I will go there for the MF, but can get everything I need elsewhere.
I did this mission solo a couple of days ago.
It took me a lot longer, than it did before I needed a party.
I was on my Ele glass cannon, so I died a lot.
There were no boss chests during the first instance, which I thought was a bit odd.
There was a bit of trouble with the giants and mobs they tossed on board.
The difficult part was trying to keep ahead of the giants, reflecting stuff back to them and killing the mobs.
I finally had to drag the mobs back to the NPC’s so that they would either help heal me or help to kill the mobs.
The trouble I had with the Hunger was, it would not spit up its flaming hairballs. That and I was not fast enough to get out of the way. But, finally, did get past him.
Everything else, did not have too much of an issue with.
That being said, I understand why they made this a solo able mission, I would rather wait for my friends/guild mates. Not because it was hard, but because I enjoy doing things with my guildies.
The same thing happened to me when they did the last trait/skill change.
It sucks but it is the way it is.
The lighthouse vista with the goggles next to it, I attempted to view this vista.
But, unlike normal vistas, it started with the outward pan, then just stopped.
The vista view won’t end.
Well, I have 19 toons now, so… having 2 open spots for a Revenant works for me.
Just have not taken the time to figure out the race.
Well, first I have heard of this.
I did get the Ultimate upon the release of the pre.
Got what I wanted, received what I expected.
But that said, I am a bit of an alt hound, so the extra slot would be nice and appreciated.
Gems are like sand through my hands or like my pay check… deposited one day, a mere memory the next.
So, if true, for me, yes the slot is appreciated much more than the gems.
I may not like jumping puzzles all that much, but they are not that bad.
Besides, they are not mandatory content, so if you don’t like them, don’t do them.
I have Guildies that love JP’s and they were not happy when JP’s were removed from the monthly reward tracks.
Far worse things than JP’s in the game.
I did get a portal drop, which I am pretty happy about. And my time in SW was pretty minimal.
However, I know some of my guildies spent a long time trying to farm the portal without ever getting a portal as a drop.
I never went back to SW after I got the drop, I did not see the need.
My guildies already think (rightly or wrongly… depends on perspective) I have a wee bit more luck than the average player. I can only imagine what they might say/think if I got a second one.
I did not want to stir the pot by attempting to get a second portal.
Besides, I really don’t like DT or SW, I was happy not to need to go back there.
Yes, the cripple sucks. But it is part of their build/skill set.
It is a matter of learning how do deal with the existing situation, adapting and moving forward.
The hyenas should not have a skill taken away just because it is annoying to players.
The player needs to adapt to/around them.
I have 18 toons now, each is different in its play style.
Human: Warrior, Necro
Sylvari: Ranger, Ele, Engi,
Norn: Guardian, Necro, Ele, Thief,
Asura: Warrior, Guardian, Necro, Thief, Mesmer, Ele, Engi
Charr: Guardian, Mesmer
Each is built for a different purpose, traited a specific way.
I found that, with my play style, PvP and Asura work well.
Each plays different, allows me to adapt to different situations.
I am 45, been playing the GW genre for 9 years.
I have played with people that are in their 60’s.
I did get one, don’t have to go back out to SW, yeah!!!!
Please no… I have had nothing but problems with Steam..
=/
I think you could have bought 2 maybe 3 precursors
This…
If you use the MF to get a precursor (expecting to get one)… you will be very unhappy.
Personally I have gotten two out of it, the Lover and Dusk, in the last 8 months.
But I know people who have dropped 3k to 7k trying to get it.
Smarter use of the money…. just buy the precursor….
as they said before… RNG is RNG
Saw a Charr – Honey Nut Charieos (not sure of the exact spelling)
I named my pig – Thick and Saucy
Got the insta 20 scroll and 120 tomes, insta-level here I come.
I have little patience now for the NPE.
I won’t call it dumb luck… but yeah, I experience stuff like you did a lot.
My guildies think I am extra lucky… I used to get a lot of dye drops from the BLC… and I mean a lot… used to give them away… now I don’t get the dyes much. However, I do get nodes, in the last 25 BLC I opened, got 5 sellable mini’s, 1 ancient wood node, 2 elder wood node, 2 ominumberry (sp) nodes, 18 ticket scraps, 2 tickets….
But the dye drops are different now, so I will not be as active opening the BLC..
Griffonrook Run had me baffled for the longest time. Never knew it existed until a guildie mentioned it… discovered it and got my explorer achievement for the Shiverpeaks. I will often see nooks and crannies that I walk into just to see.
Accidentally completed a jumping puzzle without knowing it until the end chest because I was just wandering around..
Yup, there is.
there is another thread about this, I even posted, but can’t seem to find it now.
There is a trick that was mentioned and the the trick is, once the gate opens, do a charging attack (a skill on the skill bar) at those two specific NPC’s.
It took me 6 tries to get it right, surprised me when it finally worked.
No, no, no thank you.
I like the dailies as they are.
If I don’t log in, I am in the same place I left off.
I log in to play, not to accept daily rewards, so its not job.
Now, I would not mind some form of a monthly objective, like before, ie: number of jumping puzzles, killing veteran bosses, etc.
But no, leave the dailies alone.
There have been enough changes this past year that more changes, for the sake of change just don’t make sense.
Never seen one in game like that.
I get them in my personal email… not so much now..
Ah… the name game.
In GW1, I got to the point to where I would open a dictionary, close my eyes, put my finger on a word, and walla, the first name.
This is how Mallard Shower and Minds Creation were born.
In GW2, every toon has the same last name and roughly the same first name.
It is becoming a challenge to have female names that start with Jen… with 17 toons with that combination.
I may have to revert back to my GW1 names… Folder of Napkins… a nice Mesmer….
I played GW from just before the first birthday to a few months before GW2 launched. I loved the game for what it is. But do I miss it? Yeah… not so much.
It is the first online game I ever played, achieved a lot more than ever thought I would. I do miss the pre-searing area, that place was/is just beautiful. I worked pretty hard for the Defender of Ascalon. Played through all three campaigns and EoTN. I go back again, every once in a great while, to look around.
But as much as I enjoyed it, I prefer GW2 much better.
I believe it to be a much better game, even for all issues it may or may not have.
At times I miss not having hero’s, but in GW2, we don’t really need them.
Other times, I miss the expansiveness of the game, all of the massive maps to discover and explore.
And I even miss having the ability to have a really strange and wacky build.
But I don’t miss the elitism that I found, the clunky game play(now it seems clunky), WTS/WTT in Spamdon and a few other items.
I liked the game for what it was.
Just like I like GW2 for what it is.
I have moved on.
Yes, I do play for the joy of the discovery and the exploration.
Every time I log on, it is a new and different world.
Sure, I have 5 toons that have map completion, but with each different toon, the map is approached in a different way.
None of my 17 toons are the same build, so they can’t explore or fight in the exact same way. My learning the strengths and weaknesses of my specific toons is fun for me. Granted, at times a little exasperating, especially when I bite off more than I can chew.
I look at loot boxes the same way. Its not about what comes out, it is about the mystery that is inside the box. Don’t get me wrong, I like loots. I like all loots, even the junk. I would rather open a box and get junk than open a box and get zip. Take for instance the Orrian Jewelry boxes, 9 times out of 10 I get karma container and an unidentified object. But that one one, I get something cool. Heck I got 12 unidentified objects once out of a single box, sorta made me wonder what those 12 things were.
I play because I enjoy the game. For the pure thrill of discovery and exploration. If I did not enjoy it, I would not be here.
In the Norn story line, there is the instance, Shape of the Spirits.
You are to free the minotaurs by killing Savnir.
I can break out of the corral and kill all but 2 of the Savnir.
These two just stay green.
I can even talk to one, he says something about dragon power.
But that is where the instance stops.
Nothing happens, I have waited for 20 minutes for something to click.
I can’t progress in the Norn story.
I have reported this bug multiple times, in the past 3 days.
I have 18 toons, all of the level 80’s. And for the most part, each has a different purpose.
Without race involved, my preferred playing order is:
1. Thief
2. Ranger
3. Warrior
4. Necro
5. Ele
6. Engi
7. Guardian
However, that being said, if we are talking about PvP: Ranger(Asura), Necro(Asura), Thief (Asura)
For WvW: Thief (Norn)or Ele(Sylvari)
For Guild missions: Warrior (Human) or Guardian (Norn)
Dungeons: Ranger (Sylvari) or Warrior(Human)
For just general putzing around: Thief(Norn) or Engi (Asura)
I would go stir crazy if I could only have one toon…
Thanks again for the guides.
I had the last one on the list, nothing made sense.
But, with the direction, got it done last night.
Now… I can feed the beast and get rid of the blood dust, geez…
Thank you very much!
I am trying to make mawdry, the problem I am having is, the guides that I have found make the assumption that I have already done a number of steps.
I am looking for a complete, a to z guide, that does not assume I have done any of it.
I have the 4 very basic items, but that’s it.
I do have some murky water, from Dry Top.
I just need a point in the right direction.
I have accumulated 65 of these tokens, since launch.
They are taking up space, yet I don’t want to discard them, on the off chance of trading them for something useful.
I voted thief.
But I enjoy all of them, I have 17 toons, so I rotate them out a bit.
My main is a human warrior, but I made a Norn Guard and Sylvari Ranger and Asura Mesmer on opening weekend. I like them all.
But if you asked about race:
1. Asura, especially in PvP
2.Norn
3. Sylvari
4. Human
5. Charr – I just don’t like the 4 legged running
Yesterday, I opened 25 of the shadow dye kits.
I got 10 of the shadow dyes, and 15 of the lesser dyes.
I forget the amount of each, but only got one shadow abyss.
I also did one of the lions arch dye kits, got regina(spelling? but a beautiful purple) and an abyss.
I don’t do these things for the investment. I just enjoy the thrill of opening the kits(and this also includes the black lion chests too).
Sometimes I do well, some times I don’t. But again, not really for investment purposes.
However, I did sell the doubles of the shadow dyes I had.
The lesser dye kits, I give away to my guildies.
Have I ever paid for them, no.
Did they drop from stuff, yes.
Do I use them, yes.
I have a lot of them.
I get these all the time, but not so frequently now.
I delete them now.
For the most part, I was pretty pleased with the stress test.
And I was fairly impressed by what I (we) went through.
The first time through, sure, was a little clunky, trying to get a grasp of the skills of the new class. But eventually, it seemed that those in game, came to figure it out.
The first wyvern boss, well, took some time to bring down.
Subsequent wyvern’s, went down faster, once the group understood the mechanics.
The only item that I did not like was the glider.
Actually, the gliding was pretty cool.
Who knew you could catch an updraft from a helicopter that is pushing air down?
No, what I did not like was having to fall for a certain length of time before the glider pop up appeared. And then eventually figured out that the space bar opened and closed the wings. But had to be falling to do so.
Missed part of the first wyvern battle because I was not sure what to do.
But, aside from this one aspect, I liked the beta.
Well, that and it was way too short….
Pretty happy, got an invite too.
This is something that has bothered me for a while. The toes stick out… hate to think of having a hang nail/claw…
Had a situation a few weeks ago, where a guy whispered me that he was going to report me for botting…. because I had taken him down…. he threatened another one of my team for the same thing, for the same reason… he blocked both of us… I block him, so I answered back in map chat…. one of his team members admonished me for doing so… I calmly explained the situation… the team member simply said he was hot headed… sorry but that is not an excuse for tossing threats around… I get a shmuck that whispers me… instant blockage…
What is the definition, in game, of a griefer?
A question for those who use their middle name instead of forename:
When did you decide/was it decided to use your middle name? Is there a reason why?
I ask because I despise my first name of Christopher, and at age 18 I tried to get people to use my middle name of Simon. My parents completely agreed, had no issue with it, but noone ever remembered so I finally dropped it and went back to Chris.
I was thinking of actually changing my name legally to a chosen forename, and changing my surname from White to its ancestral Waskaelis (I’d need to find a definitive correct spelling first) because I hate my forename so much, just wondered how quickly people adapt, or if they ever do.
I like both my first and middle names.
However, the proper pronunciation of my middle name escapes a lot of people, so I always thought it was rude when it was said wrong. However, I was very young and exacting. My grandmother taught me the proper Danish way to say Hans.
Some of my friends would use my middle name, which I had no problem with. Even today, I have a group of friends that know me by my first name and others by my middle name, which is just fine with me.
However, if I ever heard my mom use my middle name(proper pronunciation or not) I knew I was in big trouble…..

Right now I belong to 5 guilds(the max, as I understand it.)
The main guild that I do pretty much everything with, does not require repping all the time. This is fortunate, because the other 4 guilds I belong to are with guild mates that are looking for additional storage space. So, during guild missions with the main guild, we rep the main guild. For everything else, until we get the influence up for the upgrades, we rep each others guilds. Even the main guild leaders have alt guild banks.
