I PUG every day. 6k AP PUGs are clearly better than 4k AP PUGs. It’s really obvious. Are you guys not seeing this? Is it just at my time of day (Euro lunchtime) or something?
I really wish I had 8k instead of 6k. A lot of HotW/CoE/Arah PUGs won’t look at 6k.
No not at all honestly. Once they break the like 3kish barrier I find it completely inconsistent. Pre3kish they are usually new (not always), Just last night I was helping some 13k AP people through fractals as they haven’t really done them. AP literally mean nothing. Said it before and will say it again, I know plenty of people in the 3-4k ap range that are far better players than I am.
Revenant because I can’t be wrong until HoT comes out.
Ele (cantrip + trait + ether + staff)
Engi (Elixers + traits + Healing Turret)
Guard (shouts + trooper + trait + cleansing whirls + Purging Flames + Smite + Signet heal)
Ranger (trait + spring)
Warrior (shouts + warhorn)
Thief (stealth + trait + Signet of Agility)
Mes (stealth + trait I think + Mantra +Null Field + Warden in temporal curtain field)
Necro (Consume Conditions + Well of Power + Plague Signet)
Added some missing ones in bold that I knew off the top of my head, likely missing some still.
They’re amazing in fractals, more than ok in dungeons, and yeah… silverwastes… of course.
I’d put a ++ for Engi blind, rotating flash grenade, smoke bomb, and smoke vent can be very potent, even more so with “short fuse” and/or “fireforged trigger”. I use this quite often in fractals when we have no thief. I consider it on par if not better coverage compared to guard. Also I might mention Immob for Engi, huge role in fractals, then of course Tar.
If they made it a standard like 3s stun for all bosses in old content tehy don’t want to deal with, i wouldn’t complain. Sure you’d negate the huge strength of the current ib5, but it may be wroth hitting it to drop that defiance bar. I’d honestly be more kittened off if a blind could somehow take the place of a true interrupt.
I have been saying since launch they should do the following
1: Swap number 1 & 2 on the bar.
2: Put wave of wrath on a 4-5 second cool down but increase it’s damage by say 3 times.
#3: Remove the detonate from the orb & instead have it heal allies it passes nearby for a small/moderate amount.
#4: Add some type of vertical sense to the orb so it doesn’t glitch out.
After that staff becomes a somewhat decent ranged option while maintaining support (albeit slow like scepter) & the cleave tagging is still there so everyone is happy.
I <3 my loot stick though… please don’t take that away! ;b
I’m sure there are many many situations they haven’t considered.
With all the major propositions they have namely defiance and stability changes it sure would be nice if they would be a bit more open and discuss the idea and ask for input. You know, maybe there’s something they overlooked and WE COULD HELP THEM or something…
But, I guess it’s company policy to be heard headed and ignore your community assuming the devs are far more knowledgeable in every aspect than the people who play this game passionately.
This means end of pugging for me. Now all bosses require CC control, which you won’t find it with average pug, and dungeons in turn will now become even more unforgiving for average pugs. TS3 will be required even with experienced group and now pug eles will suffer even more for “not using ice bow 5 correctly”. Time to join a dungeon guild and start learning instead of relying on pugs.
How do you figure? They’re literally changing it from a system where communication was key as you need to strip 5 and only 5 stacks. Now from the sounds of it, we’re talking “everyone spam CCs at the appropriate times”. Seems like a system built upon not utilizing any real organization or communication.
there is a cap on how much fury you can get, or more over, how many times you can stack fury at a given time.
I don’t believe so. One Ele can generally keep permafury for a dungeon group during engagements. With multiple Eles, I’ve seen well over a minute of fury remaining after killing a mini-boss.
Grab a few ele’s blast might to your hearts content, eventually it’ll stop going up, thats the cap. Pretty sure it exists, can’t say what the details are (how many blasts hit it, etc).
That doesn’t mean you can’t refresh it, it just means you can’t go over X amount of duration if that makes sense. Though I want to say that it doesn’t refresh old stacks and you have to actually wait for a stack to fall to slip in a new one. Either way even staff Ele can maintain perma fury without much of an issue
Of course I may be wrong, just could have sworn I remember running into this months and months ago and questioning about it, just like i said, months and months ago.
The game doesn’t create the community, the people do.
If you haven’t seen “you god kitten idiot, why the kitten would you do that?” type comment, well, consider yourself lucky. I regularly see them in Silverwastes. I see them quite often in dungeons. Other open world farms it happens if you even complete an event (i mean, who would do that?). That’s not to mention PVP…
GW2’s community will never match the first few years of EQ for me, just such a different type of person who played that game back then. I have no doubt that overall GW2’s community is one of the better ones out there, but it’s certainly not void of it’s fair share of undesirables. I mean we have something here that still shocks me… we have an irrational hatred for playing well, i mean A LOT of people hate people who try and play this game to the best of their ability, it’s the strangest thing… but at the same time it goes both ways, these people are often frustrated by the person in their group/around them who is plinking away with a ranger shortbow on a boss with maxed out condi’s. That’s all on ANet though, that’s a game design flaw. They’ve done their best to push everyone together, not allow people to segregate themselves, you must play together! So again, it’s the people in the community that make it what it is, the game… not so much, I’d attribute more negatives to the game design than positives. The one positive I can think of is it’s more casual nature, in that it’s easy to walk away, or play for a few mins at a time, and no need to farm endlessly.
Ahh good ol’ irrational zerk hate, never gets old.
OP I’d check out the profession forums, plenty of talk about variety of things. Your Metabattle will generally be more meta focused stuff, meaning zerk.
Do Irukandji still respawn before 2 tentactles are killed? Or can you kill them before Maw awakens?
I’ve never tried. Since they’re blindable and what not, it’s just pretty easy to clean them up in groups with the colossi at a good LoS point.
Did the boss have “defiant” up?
nly to find that LPBR’s new daze does not interrupt or remove defiance stacks
@Sins, curious what boss was it? And were you able to land other types of CCs? Sounds like it’s just funky if it’s showing an effect but getting none (like you get the icon but nothing happens). I do know some bosses will simply ignore CC, not just because of defiance but like even ignore it for defiant stripping purposes. Namely Turmaine and Balthazar are probably the 2 that give me the biggest headache over that.

Finally a possible nerf to frostbow #5. Good job Anet. A buff to the smart usage of CC and a nerf to open a fight with icebow. Defience bar seems to be one of the best pve changes anet has ever done.
Jon: When we wrote the original combat blog post, a lot of people assumed we didn’t want the trinity. It wasn’t an anti-trinity, it was more of a case of “this is how we want to do this type of combat and we want these roles and we want them to be flexible.
one thing i will say, they seem to be thinking builds has something to do with berzerker.
Unless the amount of break you get scales with duration, you will still be King of CC wearing berzerker.I wonder if any other conditions are now going to be counted as CC for the break bar
like immobilize or cripple.Warriors have weapons like main hand mace and hammer that are never used in pve because they don’t have such a good autoatk and don’t focus that much in pure dps.
If they start making people focus more in those weapons will reduce the oveall dps. Making fights take a bit longer will make them a bit harder for people running no defensive stats.
Stats are one of the most important thing in the build. Go with a full nomad and see the dmg difference it makes even using same traits and same skills.
only dps stats have a strong effect on builds
A CC guy will CC virtually the same whether on zerker or any other gear
A support guy will support virtually the same whether on zerker or any other gear except for heals. Some weapons do provide better CC than others, that much is true, but you still may as well be using zerk hammers and zerk maces
What happens is that the CC traits are not the same as dps traits for most classes. If they reduce the overall dmg it is great. If the meta is not able to use all the traits giving extra percentage of dmg than the dps gap with other builds will be reduced.
They can’t fix everything at once. They are doing small steps in the right direction. Fgs/norna elite nerf, crit dmg->ferocity nerf, might nerf, now defience bar to nerf frost bow at start. The new content like champs with very high armor so people use more condis, bosses that you can’t crit, etc.
You mean the ferocity change that resulted in an increase in DPS when scaled down and a slight decrease at the top… sure…great idea…it’s not like it lead to 8s solo kills of spider queen or anything.
Firstly, whoever told you about the respawning Irukandjis was mistaken. It’s not that they never stop REspawning, but that don’t DEspawn once you kill the two tentacles at the start of the fight. Granted, the fight is still more difficult and tedious because of this. My guild group usually retreats to the “safe corner” and attempts to draw in Irukandjis one group at a time to handle them without being overwhelmed.
Secondly, the jump in difficulty is not actually that bad. Beyond the obligatory Agony Resistance, the enemies hit a tad harder. Other than that, I can’t recall any distinct differences off the top of my head.
Also, I’m afraid my guild group is almost always full when doing fractal runs. But, if we have a free spot, I can send you a message ingame to invite you along.
Ahhhh okay, that makes a lot more sense. I was trying to picture the fight while simultaneously dealing with them and I was just like “How would that even work?”…but just having to clear them at the start doesn’t sound like a big deal.
You don’t really clear them first, you just like, be strict about your strategy. Normally Maw is easy, you just run around kill stuff without much of a care. 50 you have the additional deadly adds as well as things hitting harder, so you just have to be more disciplined and really use the LoS spots to gather things up and drop blinds while you burn them down.
Every hit is harder, but, your big boss fights aren’t the concern as much. THey already hurt badly if you fail to avoid hits. So you really don’t notice much difference. What is different is the trash or small hits, those are now deadly. Not layering the blinds on say ascalon will have you crying. You really just need to be precise in your strategies is all.
A few things have some different mechanics, like yes the Jade Maw squid adds don’t despawn, so you have to clear those with the other stuff. Again, not too difficult just have to nail down your strat, usually pull them behind one of the pillars in the left back corner.
That’ll work fine for me. My concern was potentially being unable interrupt a key attack because of a stray blind, as long as that isn’t possible it’s all good with me. We’ll simply be looking more towards mass CC on demand rather than methodical removal. I have a problem with someone calling this “smart use of CC” as it’s literally spamming, but it doesn’t sound all bad at this point.
I imagine if you’re just looking for the interrupt, you could drop a black powder then spam headshot through it for blinding bolts + blind ticks + headshot for some nice removal?
3 kit rotation + 1 including rifle+healing+supply crate
does this happen to anyone? especially in dungeons.
I think that’s a large part of it. The only time I ever felt like I was “breaking my fingers” was when I tried a tri-kit celestial rifle build in sPvP. It was not fun. I know some people like running 3 kits, but I’m pretty sure the most effectiveness you can get is with just running two kits at a time (FT/EG, Grenades/Bombs, Toolkit is bad in dungeons). What do you use?
Toolkit isn’t bad in dungeons, it’s just situational. for example ACp2, pull the ghosteater guy at the end into the trap. Additional blocks on Lupi. Pull Tazza in SEp1. … ok lots of pulling basically
but prybar isn’t bad for something to use when you are using toolkit for it’s utility. I find it very very useful in fractals though, the cripple uptime can be huge on something like Mai Trin, I would say on the champs in harpy too but I use a different set of skills there.
there is a cap on how much fury you can get, or more over, how many times you can stack fury at a given time.
After seeing that Black Feathered Wing Backpack previewed we need more hats. And by hats I mean a Fez (Fezzes are cool). This way I can have my Asura run around pretending to be one of the Wicked Witch’s monkey minions from Wizard of Oz. “Get the shinies my pretties HAHAhahaha!…”
I can’t be a Skritt so I’ll take a Fez…oh man a Skritt with a Fez!
Yes! everything about this post is YES. Also, bowties are cool.
First, aim strait down on you or strait up with the camera. That’ll get it to land closest and most predictably.
Second, any strange terrain will ruin it. Even a slight slope can make it unuseable, sometimes it strait just doesn’t want to land.
And, what do you mean ranged projectile finishers? If you just mean comet/dragons tooth, they’ll go on your target or if no target out infront of you a distance (which again can be manipulated by angling your camera). Remember though, there is a range on blast effects (iird like 300 or so), so you can’t be way back dropping blasts on a fire field on the boss and expect to get the buff.
The point is to earn your way into the dungeon when it’s locked, or wait for someone else to do it. I admit I will camp CoF until someone else does all the work.
A friend found out by accident that CoF can be opened while contested. I’m not sure if it is considered an exploit, so I won’t describe how to do it here.
That said, the only bothersome one is CoE. I will do the event chain, run a path, and because of megaserver you may be placed in a different map. I’ve run all three paths without having to do the event chain, and I’ve had days where it’s contested every time I come out. This didn’t happen when servers had a unique map. I tend to just check on this dungeon after each run of a different one, and run it when it isn’t contested >.<
You can get into COE while it’s locked… a certain foxy fri man who loves COE has shown the world how to do it. Might want to check youtube.
Still should be changed as it’s annoying and a pain to do, but it’s doable. But, the annoyance of this issue has led me to basically abandoning COE all together, just not worth the time anymore. I used to LOVE this dungeon, now I just can’t be bothered.
Try looking at your keymapping. Maybe there’s something you could do to ease the stress. Personally I have a logitech g600 i think it is, has 3 buttons on the mouse, in sort of a triangular setup, the bottom point is my auto attack, so I can fire that just squeesing my mouse a bit. THen I have dodge and one of my toolbelt skills as the other two buttons. Makes for easy access without much strain.
Swapping kits can still be a pain but again, I have them mapped up to easily accessable buttons (x, shiftx, and shift c) with my healing at z. Not saying you should go with what I do, just find something that works. For me, I adjusted my layout to more fit my layout i’ve been using for like 15 years in every MMO I’ve played
, so I’m kinda used to it now.
And Arantheal, I do fractals almost every day, running full assassin, and 3 kit 66002 build whenever possible (adjust to 64022 for mai trin). I often end up taking other utilities but the 3 kits is whenever I’m not needed for things like blind/immob/reflects/etc. Meta is not counter-productive unless you’re failing at it.
3.) The records timer starts when any party member activates a skill or moves their model. This includes but is not limited to: taking a step, turning, jumping, etc.
Ouch ^^
Really curious as to why. I mean taking a step, sure, turning, ok maybe some advantage, bouncing up and down? what advantage?
You’re still leveling, keep at it. As others have stated Engi doesn’t really get the tools that make it shine till 80.
For now, focus on these few things, as they will prove invaluable later on.
First, Healing Turret.
There are 2 basic ways to use this heal that you should know. First is just getting the heal from it. Drop it, activate it, then pick it up, basically you’re just going to mash your heal button, then once you see the big white circle that shows it’s activated, pick up the turret. The strength of this is it’s a 15s recharge this way, moderate damage will be healed and you’ll have it again in 15s.
The second is blasting it. You’ll do the same thing but instead of picking up your turret you’ll activate your f1 skill which will detonate the turret for a “blast finisher” this will give you an addition like 2k healing, nice for larger damages, the downside is you have a 20s recharge if you destroy the turret. Additionally you can lob other blasts into this for additional healing. For example (assuming you’re not worried about the knockback effect of BoB) you can drop your big ol bomb, wait about a second, drop your turret activate and do all that, your bomb will explode inside your water field and give you an additional blast for another 2k heal. Doing this will not only provide a lot of healing for yourself but also a noticeable amount for your team. Additionally leaps will give personal healing in the field, so you can use your jump shot right after you detonate the turret to grab some healing for yourself as well.
It’s a bit to take in, but work on that, you’ll find it’s truly the most amazing heal in the game hands down.
Next, I’d work on your combo fields in general. Focusing on 2 main ones, fire field and smoke field.
As pointed out above with healing skills you can perform finishers in combo fields to activate additional effects. You’ll want to do this with fire fields for might. Might is a great addition to your damage. So for bomb kit you may do Big ol Bomb followed by a Fire Bomb, this will have the big ol bomb exploding in the field. Remember the delay on big ol bomb, this is why you will activate it first like I said in the healing rotation as well. You have other blast finishers on things like Flame Blast (FT) Acid Bomb (EG) Thumper Turret, Shield 4, and even Rocket Boots. Utilizing these properly will be a key skill to have. Likewise you can use your healing turret to blast more might, drop your fire bomb, and then perform the second healing turret rotation, but because your fire field was down first it’ll blast might instead of healing, careful though you don’t always want to ‘waste’ your heal option.
Next is Smoke Field, this is a key source of stealth. It’ll allow you to skip through stuff instead of having to fight your way through it. Same general principle, basic rotation to get you 6s of stealth will be drop your healing turret (don’t activate it) drop big ol bomb, drop your smoke bomb, then detonate your healing turret when the smoke bomb explodes. Additionally a leap also combos for stealth though personal only like the water field. So you can easily grab 9s without really changing your skills.
What I’d recommend though is just sit and practice this rotation a bit, just to help get that whole blasting thing in your head perfectly. Healing turret → THumper Turret → Big ol Bomb → Smoke Bomb and wait for it to explode → Activate THumper Turret → Detonate THumper Turret → use Rumble (thumper toolbelt skill) → Detonate Healing Turret, and in there your big ol bomb will have exploded. This will be 5 blasts in your smoke field giving you the max 15s of stealth.
I’d say these things are the basics of playing an Engi, once you have those down you have the skills and understanding to get more out of your combo fields and expand to other weapons and what not. Without mastering these skills you’ll find you have a bit of a hard time unleashing the full power of Engi. GL
Strange, if zerk is so much better, why are all these solo run records for engi done with condi? Hmm…
How can shrinking yourself makes you invulnerable? Shouldn’t you be more squishy?
How can you even shrink yourself? You can’t shrink atoms! The only way would be to reduce the number of them. That would totally break the geometry.
How do our characters even survive without constant food or sleep?
What is the meaning of life?
YOu’re an engineer. You figured out a way to manipulate what is mostly empty space in an atom to let them shrink and condense. In doing so, you not only made yourself small and hard to hit but also made yourself incredibly dense and hard to destroy.
Mhm, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it :b
I’m currently at around 420-450 pristine relics in my bank right now and I have literally never gotten a raiders ascended chest before in any aspect of the game, ever.
Dozens of useless healers/defenders/malicious ascended chests though!
At least you can get celestial gear, the most prestige of all.
Or Literally nothing which is what I get most of the time
… the fact that this game has very good variety of different types of armors and weapons. Im a sci-fi and guns lover and i always loved sci-fi fantasy games/movies/anime etc. I find my self very very satisfied because im able to create a futurist look for my engineer. Thanks Anet.
As mcuh hate as I lob towards ANet, fact is I’m still playing this game for a reason. There is a lot fo build diversity, not all of it suites everythign but there are uses for a lot fo stuff that sees little use, can’t fault them for coming up with good ideas that simply dont’ fit into meta’s.
I have faith that they’ll do something for them in PVE, jsut what’s been shown hasn’t really been good, but there’s still stuff left to be seen
Learning to read will vastly increase the amount of good experiences you’ll have using the tool.
This made me LOL, if only people would read. We’d be so lucky
I just don’t understand new players. I have no desire to hold people back. Honestly I haven’t been kicked yet (knock on wood) but there are groups I simply want to leave because I feel like I’m holding them back. i search for info on how to get better, I pug trying to get better, I solo trying to get better. I don’t get why people feel like they should be able to jump in and be completely accepted in any group. That’s not how things work. Maybe it’s my experience with MMOs but I know there are those that hve done things before and want a smooth run, at this point there ar dungeons that I feel this way. I long for SEp1 to be fighting on nokk, for the inquest golem to be deep frozen instead of pulled to a corner, and for the 3golems to be pulled together and burned down. But, that just doesn’t happen in PUGs.
We have guilds like ARES and Noob willing to help, I really hope new players use them. I’m a member of ARES and I actively try to help and pass on info I know. please, if new players read this, USE THESE TOOLS, We want to help, we really do, when I get a group together in ARES I expect a few people to be going in for the first time or at least not know what’s going on, I expect a casual run of teaching. learn, have fun, ask questions, it’s a good thing.
Shameless plug for ARES but really, join us, learn, many of us actually enjoy helping you learn the ropes. Eventually you’ll be someone we run smooth runs with and have a lot of fun just destroying dungeons like ARAh with. No reason nto join a PUG group and hold them back when there are teachers out ther willing to help!
3. Attacks elementals instead of shaman, while he has his shield up
There’s nothing wrong with this as long as you have shaman selected as a target.
If you have him selected as a target then each successive skill used will remove a stack off of his shield.
This is why I, for example, will aim my ice storms/meteor showers in the areas with the biggest concentration of elementals.
I will just assume the team you had was really bad either way and probably didn’t have shaman selected. Pugs blow.
This si why I love reading the forums, learn so much
There are only stacking issues if you are competing against others with higher condition damage. I rarely play PvE, but I have done world bosses on oft occasion, and with full maps there, I appear to be the only one to use condition damage. My damage never has had a problem being the priority tick.
Enough folks have shouted it down that no one ever uses it. What are the odds a player is going to join a group and have stacking issues within that group? He asked if it has “viable” use. Are you claiming it is not “viable”?
I was under the impression that stackable condis (bleed mainly) overwrote regardless, and that the duration ones would take into account condi damage though.
So your burns, sure, confusion, sure, poison sure, bleeds however would be hit.
Is that wrong? I have seen it said that way multiple times including a big list of how condis worked I saw a long time ago.
And… read up, I believe I said it was great, actually better than power builds in solo content, and that the only draw backs are the stacking issues and the fact that it is less responsive to buffing. THat doesn’t come off as saying it’s not viable does it?
coglin, the only problem with it is that you’re pushing engi damage even more towards conditions that as I’m sure you know has stacking issues. When a mesmer is traited meta his phantasms will be throwing up quite a few bleed stacks and will cut into my damage pretty substantially.
I agree it’s a solid build, but you just have the typical stacking and buffing issues, in that if you buff properly it becomes worse reletively, and if you have other people overwriting your stuff it’ll do poorly. If you don’t have those two issues, it’s great
.
Pretty sure soloing many dungeon bosses it’s your best option. Pretty much unless a boss ignores conditions it’s better than zerk/assassin for solo purposes, outside that, no, not really worth it.
Please don’t think I was dissing on guang, I was laughing at the dissing on guang calling him a world boss focused player >.<
I actually like the idea.
I used to do raids in other games. I had similar videos of us just laying waste to things like they were nothing. Playing well and making things look easy can be decieving. Couple that with the fact that we’re talking the first boss in the first dungeon that was significantly nerfed last April, well… yeah…
If you’re blowing up Arah bosses with as much ease, bravo, you’re better than the vast majority of groups out there.
As far as dying in under 1-2 mins, I personally don’t miss the half hour + fights of other MMOs I played. I think 3-5 mins is about perfect personally. Which is probably what a boss fight takes most pug or inexperienced groups in any of the higher level content in this game
, play things perfect and you can do better, but isn’t that how it’s supposed to be? Designed around mediocre play, allow exceptional play? I mean that’s pretty standard game design from what I’ve seen of every MMO, only rarely do you see stuff where devs say “well we don’t think they can beat it” but then of course people do
I’ve been there.
I wouldn’t call it optmistic when my thinking is “well it can’t get worse reletive to other stabilities”
of course the whole idea of stability might be completely kittened so… there’s that.
That’s the thing, Engi is a completely viable profession if they run the meta build (or one of it’s variations, but basically 660XX with nade/elixir gun/X)
It simply isn’t meta for record times, though they’re right up there and a great profession to bring to a dungeon tour.
Necros are useless in dungeons, they bring absolutely nothing unique and nothing that can’t be done better by other professions. I can stack vuln better on my engi while doing more damage. I can do the same with warrior. I can stack might, vuln and bring more dps with my Ele, ohh and perma fury. Necros are quite literally the only profession that doesn’t have some niche they can fill that would make them a nice addition to a group. It’s unfortunate but true, here’s hoping for the specialization to turn out well with HoT.
And I run what I like, personally I love 66002 Nade/EG/FT Engi
So yeah this game is garbage lol.
There is other game mode else then World Boss.
But I guess you are the garbage player to categorize this complex game with only 1 feature.
:D Funny stuff right here.
And exactly Rising, but I don’t see much benefit to things like just making sure levels are checked or profession. Seems like it’d likely be quite the undertaking to change the system just for those minor benefits.
The benefit might be small, but it could also be fairly useful. We also don’t know how difficult it is to implement, nor should it be a big concern for us. That enough people are talking about it, though, means that the developers will want to hear about it. If we have a good idea of what we want when I talk to them about it, that’s all the better.
Ehh, just consider me a pessimist who fears that if they touch it they’ll make it worse rather than better and at best it’ll be no different but a lot of time wasted.
I am with spoj on this though.
At the very least I’ve always felt that they should change the LFG join group button to be the same functionality as /join, where the group has to accept you in, a lot of screening could be done with that alone.
A year or so ago I tried joining an explorable AC run. On the first boss everyone insisted that we stack up in a tiny corner, bring the boss to the corner, stand on the boss, and kill it.
It was a disaster. They tried, again and again, this failing method, instead of just fighting the boss out in the big open room, which seems to be what was originally intended by the developer. Eventually people started getting angry at one another. The group leader and some guy who had a lot of experience started yelling at each other.
I just left the group. No time for that noise. I’ve never done another dungeon in this game. Worst instanced dungeon experience I have ever had in an MMO. GW2 dungeons are a joke. The fact that people can finish them in 5 minutes by skipping trash, doing weird stuff like “running up against a corner”, de-aggroing enemies, and just stacking areas and burning down speak volumes about how lazy the dungeon designers were.
People can poo on Blizzard all they want, and I don’t like them much myself, but dungeons in this game make me consider returning to WoW… which is probably another reason I stay out of them.
That’s solo… your group just sucked. And you don’t need corners, people are just dumb and see stuff in videos and copy it without thinking much about why. People used that corner for FGS, when that was nerfed it stopped being worthwhile.
I really do not understand why someone who isnt willing to 100% rep would join a guild asking for it.
Of course if the guild isnt up front about that requirement there may be a problem.
2 guilds I was formerly in both had similar situations to this.
Basically I play with them, they suggest I join the guild, ask if it’s 100% rep, get told “yeah but don’t worry about it, we’re not strict about it, just like make it your main guild, if you rep for other stuff when you’re doing stuff that’s cool” Then I get hounded by some overly strict officer who apparently didn’t know that the leader was relaxed about it… yeah… /shrug
Again, those 2 guilds are former guilds though
I couldn’t keep up with their demanding ways.
Drop your healing turret but don’t activate the cleansing, drop your big ol bomb, then drop a smoke bomb, wait for the smoke bomb to explode, detonate your healing turret and your big ol bomb will explode, this will give you 2 stacks of stealth for total of 6s, you can also toss in other blasts like Acid Bomb (Elixir Gun) Flame Blast (Flamethrower) Thumper Turret (rumble toolkit, or all 3) Shield4. Though often you’ll rely on your group to toss a few blasts in as well, if everyone tosses in 1 blast into a smoke field then you max your 5 stacks (15s).
It used to be that way about a year ago, but it was mainly out of ignorance. Since then Engi’s have received a small buff which got a lot more people to look at them, and such people found they were quite good. They aren’t your meta profession for a perfect run, but they are more than ok and excel in some areas that are quite nice to have and really good on a few encounters.
As a new player you’ll do much better with a profession you know than one you don’t so might as well start with that. And again, engi is nothing to scoff at.
I am <50 on my hobby dungeon explorer because I was lazy and just never did SEp2 till about a month or so ago.
If hobby dungeon didn’t require dungeon master I’m sure I’d be in the 300+ range.
And exactly Rising, but I don’t see much benefit to things like just making sure levels are checked or profession. Seems like it’d likely be quite the undertaking to change the system just for those minor benefits.
Condi will never be useful in Dungeon metas beecause of stacking issues.
Well they could fix it and it would be useful. Never say never
I think fixing condition in PvE, Build template and GvG (pvp, not player+npc vs player +npc, like it will be) are the things that I hope the most for HoT, but I probably be disappointedabout those.
That looks more like it now
I’m with ya though, just not even hoping anymore, if they prove my pessimism wrong it’d be nice.
