One of my most memorable moments in WvW is The Siege of Greenbriar. Us, you and JQ fighting over Greenbriar in a massive siege back in Beta! Super long battle, I had to go to bed before it was even over.

I know you all are rebuilding. And I love our battles with you and CD in NA Prime, we’re pretty even. Its just your Ocn destroys us. If we had even some semblance of 24-hr coverage, I’ll love for both of us to take on JQ together!

There are viable suggestions in other threads. Such as 1 up 1 down, “seasons”, a playoff type system. Grouping tiers together and switching up the matches. Or my suggestion, manual intervention.

I know some say then there would be blowouts – kinda like there are now.

For example, I’m on SBI and I think it would be fun to go up against CD and one of the servers from the tier below us (EB, BP, AR) . Or SBI vs. two of the ones from the tier below us. I don’t think we’ve ever fought them. And I don’t think it would be a blowout. But we’ve never had a chance to see – and with the rating system creating the matches, we never will unless there are large population changes in the servers.

Or heck, SBI, Yak’s and SoS. For a week, it’d be fun to see what would happen.

I also think it would be interesting to see if it were possible to match servers by time zone coverage.

Was about to say the same thing I would love to have a queue to deal with. That would mean there are actually lots of people playing. In fact, the only way to have an even fight is to have a queue – you know there are the same number of people then. Better than having lopsided fights.

I agree that attacking is too easy and defending is too hard and its too easy to capture a tower or keep. But they probably made it that way on purpose because if it was hard to flip locations people would cry about how hard it is and its no fun because locations don’t change hands often enough.

Ditch the rating system for determining matchups. That’s how to fix it. Or add some manual intervention.

Portal itself is not good for WvW… you can pretty much leave out the rest of the sentence.

Whether it’s rezzing one behind a gate or having to “sweep for mesmers” or jumping puzzle shenanigans or this tactic…. no one ability causes more problems, exploits and non-fun crap to happen.

Like the above poster said, it depends on what you’re expecting but I would say you need to get a better processor too. GW2 is heavily dependent on the processor.

Search through the fourms there are many suggestions that helped me when I was upgrading. I went with the i5 3570K and found a cheap 560Ti. I get between 60-100 fps in PvE. It drops to 20-30 in dragon fights and large WvW battles but so does most peoples I hear. This is on mostly high settings.

If a 3570K is not in your budget, I’ll let those more knowledgeable give advice on which specific processor.

Someone made a post awhile ago with a detailed system similar to a playoff system with “seasons”. I can’t find it now though. That was a great idea.

If they can’t do anything with the math, just have some manual intervention. I would love to have a match up with SBI and any two from T5.

Or SBI, CD and one of them with similar coverage.

Would it be a blowout? Who knows? I actually don’t think so. But it would be fun to find out. Not like most of the tiers are not blowouts anyway.

No I am not a spy. I am however fully aware that it is a very valid tactic and I accept that it will be used both by my and the enemies sides.
WvW is supposed to be a war after all, in wars there are spies.

Going by the logic that spying should be bannable would also require scouting to be bannable since they are doing more or less the same thing, but without having access to the chat and following the zerg instead of reading where it is.

I like that the build uses all the trait lines. Don’t see that much and been trying to figure out a good one that does it. I’m going to try it.

I play LB/GS mainly and have great fun in WvW with my Ranger.

I’d say don’t listen to the people who say Ranger stinks, don’t bother. You can have fun playing any class in WvW. (It’s great fun to annoy someone with your pet from afar too. I know from they times I play other characters and get annoyed myself lol).

Either way moving servers is not an option yet or a solution. It would have to get pretty bad for that to happen. Like a former NA T8 situation.

What is stupid is it has worked out great up until now and they are screwing it up. What they are doing is not a solution for EU late night reset. A real solution is needed which would be different resets for NA and EU.

I originally thought this was no big deal. So people are a little late for reset. But I have changed my mind based on the arguments presented that it is a big deal for some.

Being there right at reset is great fun and I look forward to it. And if you’re on a server with long queues, and have to be at work, it means not having a chance to try to get on at the outset.

Like you said, this is not a solution. A real solution is needed.

I just don’t want us players to start blaming our friends across the pond. Its not thier fault. I can understand their point of view. And I hope they can understand ours.

If you don’t already have that video card, get a better one. That’s a pretty low end card.

Yeah 3 – server combined hit squad! If we could pull off that type of organization that would be classic.

But I doubt we can. And I’ve never even actually seen this type of behavior myself. (Well except when SF were still on our server and they’d go on ram train building sprees for fun But that was outside the walls in the open.)

Also, not mentioned is the fact that NA people can get on whenever they do get home from work. Reset night will still be going on – and the fresh influx of players all night long might be a nice change.

Kittened if you do, kittened if you don’t. Before people were complaining about it took too long to make a change. Now people complain about them making a change quickly and say its too short notice.

I’ve only got one toon at 80 – my Mes. But I’ve tried them all except Necro to about level 20.

Recently started an Engi and man I’m lovin it. Who doesn’t like to lob grenades? I haven’t gotten to the pry bar yet – I can’t wait – especially to do it to a thief, that sounds so fun!

It’s not ideal but it I can understand it – having reset at 2am would be horrible. And due to the laws of physics, we live on a round world. Darn laws of physics messing up our WvW… Looks like I’m leaving work early on Fridays from now on too

I’m not paying $15 bucks a month for anything. Especially when it’ll have issues as well. Every game does.

But WvW is the best, most fun game to come out in a long while so I’m sticking with it. We just had a fantastic fun battle for SM the other night – my team lost it but its the fight that counts. Who needs shineys? Not me.

Yeah, I’m afraid to update from 310. Windows keeps prompting me with Windows Update for the new driver but I just keep unchecking it.

310 is working fine – no crashes, no problems so I’m sticking with it. I just wish there were a way to remove the update from my Windows Update list.

So my grenades have enough arc to go through the little hole above the gate…

but when I’m standing on top of the wall and can target the ground they don’t have enough arc to go over that tiny little lip and still hit the lip of the wall???

Come on. My engi is a little Asura sure but she’s not weak – she should be able to heft a few grenades over the lip of the wall!

I wish it could happen but it won’t. I’ve been trying to get people to do it forever. They don’t want to.

Even worse, people always go after the weaker opponent. Like now; for some reason we are conquering CD BL instead of pressuring SoS. I saw that and just logged out to do something else. And CD tends to attack us more than SoS.

Edit: Although it may be good. Maybe CD needs to go down a tier after the loss of guilds. And maybe Ehmry Bay deserves to come up and give it a try here.

Yeah I’d say no to two week matches. Most of them (all?) are over by Tuesday.

The op point is valid. To your average player its the score you see in the game that matters. Who is going to sit there and calculate your rating? And only a fraction of players even know about the mos site.

If someone logs in and sees they have no chance, they are less likely to log in to WvW and play. (Now for us serious WvW’ers, which most reading these forums are I would think, this doesn’t matter. We could be down by half and say, “Great a challenge”.)

Anet has said they’re not removing the score. So the real question then becomes how to keep the average players interest even when their server is getting wholloped?

I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about. Are you saying that when you click your right mouse button, it switches your target?

Yeah, the orbs need to come back. Just not in their previous form where they made the already stronger server even stronger.

That’s why I love WvW. It has something for everyone. Good story.

I’m no expert but I’ve been researching and just upgraded my system to play GW2. And this is not good enough. (And I’m not sure of that first one because of the 7770 video card – I would go higher).

Look around these forums, there are a number of peoples suggestions that helped me.

Basically from what I’ve researched if you’re not going to overclock (and it sounds like you’re not) you want at least a Intel i5 3570 for the processor.

I got a i53570K at stock speeds and an NVidia 560Ti recently and get anywhere from 60FPS to 90FPS in PvE. In WvW big fights it drops to 25 or so but from what I’ve read so does everyone elses. This is running near max.

What if BG and SoR ganged up on JQ? See my umpteen million posts on the subject.

If there’s one tier where this would work the best it is the top tier. Not having to worry about dropping down since you’re so far ahead anyway. And if you ganged up on JQ, you’re scores would be higher anyway.

Personally, I’m starting to think that maybe they should just get rid of waypoints in the keep. Everyone keeps muttering about how zergs get around the small maps so easily, and… well, waypoints do make a small map even smaller.

Except defense is harder than offense to begin with so this may make it even more in favor of the offense. With waypoints at least you have some hope of getting some people in quickly, bolstering your chances.

Yeah I was about to say something similar. Don’t go directly across their row of VG or Great.

Also, look at the other posts about building a computer in this fourm. There’s some good advice there. It helped me upgrade mine – just got a i5 3570K and 560Ti. It’s like playing a whole new game! I can’t believe what I was missing by playing at low graphics settings.

Rogi and Catus you’re both right. Stagnant tiers get boring after awhile and blowouts suck. Both cause the loss of players.

And that handicap system sounds like a great idea. It would probably actually encourage more people on the lower server to play to see if they could hold out. And even if you were getting “blown out”, it wouldn’t seem as bad.

But the matchups would have to be limited to a range on either side of your server. Having a T7 server all of the sudden matched up with a T1 server wouldn’t work.

I don’t know the answer but found a gw2guru post with a couple of suggestions. Could be you have some process or service that is causing it (that’s what the guru post suggests).

It worked! Played all weekend after running the /3GB switch workaround. No crashes.

Still using 32-bit ‘cause its free And Microsoft doesn’t have the upgrade to 64-bit for Vista anymore – I found a website that has it – but do I trust them? Nah.

Truces are good. When its the bottom two servers making the truce.

If they bottom two servers in a tier didn’t have to worry about getting second to avoid dropping down a tier, then maybe they would realize that they can gang up on the top server and make a good match of it.

Yeah, standing in an ac barrage is basically no different than standing in a hard rain. In fact, my toon likes standing in them to clean herself off after a hard fight. Blows off the dust pretty well but that’s about it.

So the load times for waypointing or loading into the game has to do with your hard drive? And not internet speed?

My load times are bad too but I thought it was becaue of my internet. I mean I have 7mbps internet.

I just built the computer too and have virtually nothing installed except GW2. It is an old hard drive though.

I’m trying to decide between the two cards in the title. Details:

I just upgraded my system and now have:
i5 3570K, at stock speed
Gigabyte H61M-DS2 mb
4G Ram
Vista 32-bit

I also bought a Gigabyte 650Ti OC. But when I try to play GW2, after a few minutes, the computer just reboots. No Blue Screen (yes I have enabled it to show) or anything, just bam – reboot. And in the Event Viewer all it says is, “The previous system shutdown at <time and date> was unexpected.” (It only does this with GW2 trying to run – even when I just let it sit at the character screen. Just browsing internet or whatever – no reboot.)

If I put in my old video card, Radeon 6450, GW2 works fine.

So first question, I’m assuming that is my power supply not being able to power the 650Ti when GW2 puts it under load, yes? The PS does have the specs to power the card but it is 6 -7 years old.

I’m being cheap as you can tell by my MB choice and sticking with my old Vista 32-bit. I’m not overclocking, not tweaking, nothing fancy. I just want to play GW2 with decent framerates. I didn’t want to have to buy a new power supply because they’re expensive. But since I do have to buy one, my question is this:

I found a 560Ti that is Refurbished for $90. My 650Ti cost $108 and it was open box so I can just take it back. Now normally I don’t buy refurbished electronics because “refurbished = broken” in my mind. But that’s a great deal.

Would the 560Ti give me better framerates in WvW (what I mainly play)? I’ve read the comparisons and seen the charts that put the 560Ti above the 650Ti but I also know that GW2 is different when it comes to performance, especially in WvW.

Anyone have any experience in GW2 with one or bother of these two cards and an i5 3570K at stock? Especially in WvW. Or opinions – is it worth the risk to go for the refurbished 560Ti?
