Some classes and some builds are forced out of higher end PvP because bunker outclasses them.
These leads to build inequality and forces you to play bunker meta instead of having more choices.
Bunker needs to be tapered down a bit so that other builds are more viable.
Some classes/builds have way too much defense.

Bunker build are fine (high defense, low damage).
It’s Bruiser build that are not (and were always OPed) that have bunker defenses and dps damage (or so).
Main problem here, is the Paladin amulet and most new block/evade from HoT specs.
For now how about players are NOT ALLOWED AT ALL to queue up for Ranked till they reach “PvP lvl 80.” Atleast we get rid of some of the newer players that feel self entitled to waste others players efforts.
This and get rid of many players to do second account to kill/farm newby in low divisions again.
The easiest fix, would be to change the starting mmr of new player that is around 50%+ to 25%. So new players have to work from bad to good, to be good.
Any genuine main account, have an easiest League progression with a new account (right now) with a Vanilla spec carried by his MMR in Amber to Ruby with wins streak, putting is MMR at High end to play ruby to legendary with not much difficulties (if you play correctly, of course).
For that grind based ranked system, simply revert the Smurfing change in season 1.
Season 1 league where great (except that top players didn’t win too much, like they used to… it was great btw to get some competitions!).
The easy fix, is simply do a -1 pip on pip gains for people that have +2 divisions compare to their low division buddy.
This give the chance for genuine low division to reach their friends. And will remove Legendary players (that want to prestige up x20) to do ruby or less smurf.
But the real FIX to LEAGUE and bad matchmaking, is removing PIPS and DIVISONS and come back to a pure MMR based game. Like the most successful Overwatch do (that I think have perhaps some great gw1 game designer in their team)

Rune of Lyssa turns 5 conditions into boons. They’re basically helping you.
Not everyone run “instant” low cool-down elite skill. 45 sec CD on Lyssa don’t help much.
Again I’m not asking for ground breaking nerfs, not even profession specific nerfs…we just need some mechanic changes
We just need another AOE cleanser META class.
Let it be Shoutbow War or Bunker Shout Guard (both need buff) or something else.
Since Guard got nothing META or playable on high end, I think they should be great to AOE cleanses again (with a HP buff of some sort or less reliance on traits and runes for aoe cleanses).
season 3 reapers has been nerfed and is much more balanced now than season 2 reapers.
also, if you focus the reaper in team fights they will go down rather quickly.
OP QQ is not about 1 Reaper. It’s about team that stack 4 condition builds.
In 2014, if you did that your team was doing zero damage.
Shoutbow war (or bunker guard) + DD ele was enough to cleanses 4 condi users in team fights.
We need another META build that can AOE cleanses to “even the fields”. So, if you queue and see you only got a Tempest, switch to that new meta build (hint buff shouts on Guardian to cleanses more and put the traits that give HP in the master slot, not grand master).

I have open a ticket about all those moderators actions that try to “stop” sPVP players having visilibility into the PVP forums about LFM.
For me, it’s clear the Looking For section is not the right place for sPVP guilds/teams. It’s a place for PvE/PVX eternal bumps that have 4 pages active per day. Too Much Informations here for our Niche.
We have an average of 1 team or 2 per week that look for more. Not 4 pages per day.

I did ask many times to have a dedicated SPVP Looking for channel/subforum, but like usual, Anet and the bad bad bad guy (please more bad is good!) don’t really care about our “different” needs being “flood” by all PvX something.

Once again, we have individual players who get reported multiple times hours apart today, yesterday, last week and nothing is done. I’m not even talking about people “no use in not afking because we can’t save a pip mode.” I’m talking people running out to the map, sitting and just afking. I know you wanted to move the entire Dev team to raids, but keeping at least one person watching reports would be cool.
This PvP season has been a blast. I made a whole thread on it. Today, even with logging to take breaks for hours at a time, I’m running into the same 4 people afking. If I’m going to lose, at least make it fun.
After the admins processes the report for botting, those guyz get Dishonor Stack and you should not see them into your MMR range soon.

Skill based ranking system for long term viability.
Skill-based ranking aka 2013-2014 was sustaining mid tier pvp players for more than 1 season.
This is not the case since season 1, 2 and 3… Those players I had the honor to play with and against in 2014 are not playing anymore… but they did for Season 1.
Why?
Skill-based is always a progressions. When you have better player, your skill based rank will lower… more things to work on.
Grind-based is always finished, when the objectives is done. No more incentives to play it.
So, season 1, 2 and 3 got peak usages for the first 3 weeks than become stale and dead at the end.
Creating this “divisions” of the player bases is bringing death to it.
Creating “motiviations” to “grind” for a “something” bring end to it.
Ranked queue, should be able to “dynamically” give incentives to all players to play the queue for “all time” without “death” and “end” into it.
I really appreciate the dev trying to bring pveer into pvp, we have a strong pver base that play really good pvp… but Test Season 1 and 2 should had been enough to let them understand they were loosing their “mid tier harcore pvper” that passed more than 2 years into it… to players that play this mode for not more than 1 month before doing something else.
Resume short:
1- Skill-based ranked progression > Grind based ranked progression to keep your hardcore players in the game.
2- Rewards should be grindable to give a carrot to none-hardcore (aka casual) players.
3- Make sure they (casuals) have a lot of rewards to constantly want to come back to it.
Please, never again, give a carrot to a player in giving him something he can “finish” and be “done” with it. PVP is not an item you can put into a garbage can. It’s a lifestyle.

I’d be happy to play unranked and improve my MMR. Sadly, the shiny requires playing in ranked. At my current win rate, there is no way I will be able to cross 4 divisions.
The matchmaker is making matches with one team deliberately stronger than the other. Such matches would not be permitted in many competition venues.
In ANET PvP this is referred to as “competitive.”
The wings and the associated seasons were to bring in new players to PvP. What has actually happened is that those new players have been used as cannon fodder.
I strongly suspect that these PvP seasons will cause a net reduction in PvP population.

It’s why i play unranked. 
You are the one that got the most Famous Bad MMR of this game. Please use this to show that creating a F2P account, you could go further with better win ratio to show how the matchmaking is unfair.
Actually, you are simply QQing and can be perceived like a bad looser.
Come back with real progress on league with new account (in your MMR favor) to show you are better than your main MMR account.
The PIPs match-making from season 2 and 3 give that kind of unfair mmr situation because we don’t have the mean to work on it with the “pip-range” thing.
All this because people QQ about pro-leaguer making new account to lower their MMR team (smurfing) in season 1.
The real solution to smurfing, should had been not giving pips at all to division higher than 2 of the smurf.
To all complainers:
You need to work your MMR (unranked got his own, ranked is a grinding joke anyway).
The difference between both MM system, is unranked let you goes out of low MMR by giving you opponent team in your MMR range.
In ranked, the problem is PIP range is not good enough to have equal skill MMR range 10 players accross the board.
My unranked experiences is way better than yours. I am team with pro leaguers versus other pro leaguers. With 2 minutes Q pop.
In unranked you don’t have the MMR hell from division entry. So, if you are serious about playing good spvp, unranked is way better MM than Ranked…
But if you can’t climb your own MMR in the ladder, please don’t blame me or
Unranked queue.

On metabattle.com, we have more meta build than ever.
Unranked queue for match-making that work.
We are still actively looking for MORE.
Ranked queue are for PVEr farmers.
Unranked queue take less than 2 minutes and I play soloq with EzPz, eDrm, PZ, and CIE.
Wasting all that queue time for a grinders queue mode, is painful.

Match-Making of season 1 was really good. (all complains where about bunkers… and REVENANT!) Putting MMR first and not looking about division to create teams was the best way to handle queue time and skill based team creation.
Smurfing was a problem and the real solution should had been:
Player with more than 2 divisions than someone in the team, don’t get Pips at all.
This simple fix to the great match-making and pips system would had been way better than season 1 (end of season), 2 and 3 crap.
I still think that old leaderboard system was better to show skill versus grind than seasons grindy system.
Go play unranked, way better.
But… here is my recommendation:
Reroll a free to play toon. Their MMR is average, so you will get better team mate. Your MMR is abysmal on your main.
Even F2P vanilla account dd ele with menders would bring you wins.
(i am stretching, since you know how to play condi mesmer, give condi mesmer vanialla a try)
You did a pretty good job showing to all are MMR is bad when you got stuck into MMR Hell. Now proof to everyone you can sail to ruby with 50 games with new account. Simple as that.
Meditation Guardian DPS for damage is good. Signet Necro is good. Condi Engi is good too. Not super OP… but doable.
You will see… it’s all about MMR.
and since the Matchmaking in ranked is a BROKEN joke, come play spvp where it matthers… into Unranked. Thank you Anet to let us have a skill based matchmaking queue.

Trevor, as I said to you earlier, from my experiences in 2013-2014, most people play around 80% and 95%. I don’t have exact numbers, but I could say it feel like 5000 players are around 80% and 95%.
And so, being into top 1000 is something great and should be reward accordingly.
To really make a MMR divisions system, we need to know the number of players and use somekind of math function to balance divisions with the player bases.
Being top 300 was a PITA with PUG groups and I did that often, it was harder to keep it into that positions, because we were constantly pit versus good premade (aka PZ, OP, VvV, Jedi… ).
Anyway, I agree with your idea (or more directly the community idea about a skill based ranked system, it’s not because I write it down before you, that it’s mine) but not with your “scale”.
For me Amber would be less than 50%, Sapphire would be below 95% and rubies + would be top 1000 or something like it.
You forgot to speak about the REWARDS that need to be separated from SKILL so serious players could concentrated on RANK while casuals would GRIND their Rewards.

People are upset because the skill level of players of the same divisions is way too different.
We have Legendary players that play bad compare to some emerald.
Divisions pairing is bad.
Divisions stucking at first tier is bad.
Grinding games don’t show you are good at the game.
I play less than 5 hours a week now. I am not the best player, but I am way better than many Legendary, right now.
I was playing 30+ hours a week for 3 years before Seasons happens.
I have more fun in unranked but even that, the player based that have skills play other games.
Yeah time changes and pvp in Gw2 is not changing for good.
The second screen cap was a close game. But I do agree that the pip system is not showing “skill” at all. It’s showing who can grind out wins. What we need is a score system that places people by games played/win/loss. Then people will find out how good they really are.
MMR is more than that. You have more “points” if you beat a good team and less point if you beat a bad team.
So, someone with a win ratio of 55% can have a better MMR than one with 80%. Because the first is always fighting versus top teams, while the latter got smurf in his team and most of theirs fights is versus bad players.
This was in game into 2013-2014… not sure why we regressed so much with our “ranked” competitive play.

In 2015 the Test season 1 and 2, was grinding board fest. It was not great.
Before, in 2013 and 2014… we had a skill based leaderboard. Meaning that your rank was calculate in function of “who you win” and “who you lose”.
A little like season 1 pips… got more pips if you win versus a better team, lose more if you lost versus a worse team (compare to yours).
Nobody here want to GRIND games to show on a leaderboard.
Everybody want to get better and so win versus better people, to get a raise on the BOARD.
So with 2014 MM and board system, put on it your league divisions if you want to… but it would be way better to simply show your RANK on the board, in game.

To summarize:
1- Ranking should be done skill based, aka old leaderboard stats.
2- Ranking should be show in game, you are rank 125 (where 1 is top) then show it.
3- Reward should not be tied to ranking. The grind need can be done into a quest like something. So everyone who put effort but are not the best could have it.
4- Reward should be good for PVP players. So, pvp exclusive skins would be better and many serious PvX person (Tabarnacos number 1 AA) could go hunt those skins (and he is a really great pvp player).
Pvp players don’t play for grinding rewards, but to get better. Having a ranking that reflect that is addictive to us.
Even if the ranking in the 2014 leaderboard could had been fine tune more, it was way better than what we have right now.
Highest I’ve ever gotten was 11th right behind the old Good Fights team.
At that level it is way more dependent with whom you play than who you are, unless it was soloq rating.

A proper ranking system would bring back some old veterans… but with all the new pvp released for 2016, not sure if it’s too late.

I agree, unfortunately… the spvp game is dying. When you see pro leaguer into diamond (ezPz) and some grinder already Legendary… you know the ranked system is wrong.
Fixing the ranked system to be more “realistic” would help tons.
Meaning that top players should be at top of the ranking, even if they only play 20 games a week versus game spammer that do 200 games a week.
Unfortunately, 2016 is the year of the pvp free to play moba like game. So… it will only got worse.

Must be more than 15 pip difference, I had div 1 and 2 and 3 in the same match.
If you are in a premade, the matchmaker takes the highest division in your party as a consideration too.

I am not talking about the fact that I won. Ignore the score.
Look at the divisions. 3 diamonds, 2 ruby Versus 4 ruby, 1 diamond. They instantly had an advantage that game because they had a duo queue, we did not. My point is, if I solo queue, I shouldn’t be placed against people who are in duo or trio queue, unless I am in a party of 2 or more….

Well… since you already got your Wings… all you do in RANK is going through that crap over and over for a meaningless title.
Your team should raise their unranked MMR and play great competitive games from there. (the best pvp players are there right now, because they have less crappy games there)
Pointing out a broken system since Test Season 1 (march 2015), is pointless.
Rank queue is not for competitive play, it’s a glorious PVE track rewards.
The fix to the problem would be to NEVER again bring a PVE reward to competitive PVP at all.
Never encourage a ranking system(use the old way of doing skill based ranking) based on winning pips because it don’t show you are good at the game, it show you are good to grind a BROKEN JOKE of a league.
The league did kill more than half of the real pvp players (4 years) bases in 6 months.
When all the pver go back to their grinding scripted dolls, our queue time will be 10+ min or have really bad MM system because of ultra low population. The pvp community is SICK since Test Season 1 and is DYING with HoT.
