Casuals seem to be a scapegoat for toxicity of this thread. Toxicity is the fault of the toxic people or persons.
In every team game, all the players are going to be salty if individual teammates are getting dumpstered due to poor connection, bad builds, talking on the phone, screaming kids/parents in the background, you name it.
I’m guilty of being salty @ bad teammates, but as per the unspoken internet code of conduct, don’t start verbally abusing people in GW2 team chat. If you do, you’re at fault.
Instead of alienating a significant player demographic by simply denying them the PvP Achievements/League progress, I suggest a positive sportsmanship program, and the ability to meaningfully rate players on their sportsmanship, (or toxicity) in a way that incentivizes shutting the hell up instead of expressing how crap your teammates are compared to you.
Toss in some serious reward track progress boosts for a clean bill of sportsmanship, and you have a happier playerbase.
And you believe such a system could not be abused? Silencing people who are mad because of a problem does not fix the problem. It only frustrates people.
You need to fix the problem not silence its effects.It’s not really a new concept dude.

If the player that disconnected can’t reconnect in 30 seconds, please allow another queued player that meet MM requirement to get into the game.
Make it so, that the queued player will get ask to continue a game in progress and propose him something for this. Like auto-win.
At least, now we will get rid of those ragers that will know they got replaced.
Do the same for AFK players. Let’s kick from the game a guy that AFK. NEed 4 vote. Then replace him with the same kind of option.

More than 100 millions of players play MOBA. Why having to restrict our MOBA to a small PVE populations from a 20 millions market (mmorpg players) when we have a 100 millions market waiting for US?

Because in unranked you are playing for fun and care less about winning or losing. In ranked you play to win and when you lose it will upset you.

Because unranked got MMR.
Once you work it enough, you will get rid of all the people who don’t really know how to play.
With Rank Q, since all players are divided by divisions and pips, it’s way harder to get a soloq team at your level.
But with unranked, when you have YOUR proper MMR rank. The games are way way more better than RANK.
It’s not perfect, I am sure Anet should rework it so on a 10 to 1 scale, you get 10 and 9 together versus 10 an 9.
It’s not fun to be 8 with people who are below 6. There should never have been more than 2 category in it.
BUT… I played with you Sayan. We did win the match… we were 4v4 at the end of the game.
For the comment about, it’s way too “easy”. Well, keep it going, when you will get your proper MMR, facing top players is harder.

I am a long time spvper. I like to have fun into this game mode.
Since Anet introduce the grinding season in 2015, many competitive players without a real skill based leaderboard have left the game.
I understand that people want to get some rating out of pvp play.
But for myself, Unranked is the ultimate experiences since 2 years.
The match-making is constant, it bring a lot of even matches, people are chilling and most of them having fun.
So, for all those who complains about:
1- Bad matchmaking.
2- Toxic communities.
3- MMR hell.
4- PIPS.
Just put those bad thing aside and come join US into Unranked.
The best competitive players of sPvP are actually more playing that game mode.
Rank queue is invade by pver who don’t get clues to grind wings in first or second season, meaning we have the worse gamers into our game mode right now.
It’s not even funny, how people with 40% win rate still grind that queue to get some PVE stuff.
I miss the old days of 2013-2014 where our leaderboard would reward us to be RANK into the best 100, best 200, best 300… even if we did lower some ranks… it was great to feel and say I am in the best 200.
But now… not so much. PIPS count don’t mean you win on the best, but means you did win a PIP. Season 3 MM is perhaps better than Season 2…
I am just doing a Rallying Call here, for all those who got fed up by RANKED PVeR queue, to come and enjoy playing unranked with the best of the game.

The solution would be ez. You can play league matches only if you have at least a 1000 ranked palyed before. But anet dont give a kitten about the old players they only want to satisfy the wing hungry newbies.

They need to adjust their model of Buy to Play versus let’s unblock HoT specialization (with a free rotation weekly on spec) like most PVP/MOBA where you can unlock new hero.
Since you can buy and download Guild Wars 2 directly on the official site itself putting it on Steam seems kinda pointless. Steam’s interface and formatting is a higher quality however.

It’s whether or not the game is improving and to Anet’s credit, they are doing just that. They refuse to dumb down the game (thank goodness) and they refuse to revert changes to mechanics that’s already in place. This is both a pro and a con but ultimately it means they accept how things are. They continue to move forward in a positive direction but for a game that could potentially take a 360, i’m glad they’ve remained the same since launch… unlike most MMOs.

Sorry, the game got many iterations of dumbing down.
1- Removing Jewels into Amulet.
2- Removing the possibilities to choose 6 different runes to customize build.
3- Removing the possibilities to take any traits you want for a slot.
4- Removing the attributes tied to a trait line.
5- Removing many amulet, that people got great working build (perhaps OP, but fine tuning would had help giving more options… no they delete them).
6- Changing the pvp item (mystic forge) to pve kittenty thing that we are oblige to destroy night after night.
7- Giving positions of enemy on minimap if you have an ally in the radius.
8- Giving a class icon on minimap and not a green dot, so you know who are where.
And so on…
They are dumbing down the game to help new players come in… but the biggest DUMB DOWN THING, is we don’t have PVE or WvW itemisation for stats.
Well… if players come from another game mode, why they need to choose 1 ammy? They are used to choose 10 items slots+.

A pre season. where you gain points per game you win, over say 3 days. once those days are over, ANet then places people in divisions based on there points score. When the league starts, you stay in that division till the end, the only thing you gain is points. so rewards could be handed out with ever 5 wins or so. At the end of the season. Those who are in the top end of there league move up a division. The people in the bottom end move down one. this way wins count for something, and skilled players end up where they belong. that way non movers with in a division know they are where they belong.

You want me to gamble a 2 months season on 3 dayz? Season 1, I had 10 dayz off on vacation… So, I would be what in the system you propose?
Then… grinding POINTS is not about skill. Why promoting people to grind points? It don’t show if you can win versus the best of the game.
The system need to be able to:
1- Identify who is the best.
2- If you win versus the best, you should be brought into their rank.
3- If you lose versus the best, but not by much, you probably will raise your rank anyway.
4- If you lose completely, you should lower the rank.
If you got +1 on rank, somebody not playing right now got -1.
This was our Skill based system into the 2013 and 2014.
They replaced it for a grind based system in trying to convert PVE casuals into PVP hardcore.
This is not working. This is a mess. QQ is at TOP. Because PVE casuals don’t like PVP.
They should had tried to cater to hardcore PVP player based and created their spvp platform into a format to compete into this crowd, so it can gain more people playing it.

But they missed the boat.
Nobody sane enough will grind this game and be happy about it. Nobody will think you are good because you are Legendary in the Divisions ranking. This is a bad Myth.
If you are Legendary in the divisions, it means you played 100 to 500 games and had lucky wins. It don’t show skills like it was, it show you are dedicated for a game mode.
The league system is a joke because of the grind involved that don’t consider the quality of the players you are beating.
Winning versus new players or people with 100 or less games is so easy, it should not give me a Legendary places in the division.

Null field and Well of Eternity (with F5) is almost perma condition protections.
You can put the Glamour Trait that give resistance for more, use sigil of generosity (with rabid), use sigil of purification (remove condi on hit, not sure of the name of the sigil), use Lyssa or Leadership runes or Holbreak/Melendru/Resistance.
Shatter clear condi.
Mesmer is the most anti-condition class of the game.
Sword 3, second step reflect condies too. Arcane Thievery (subpar, but I used that to protect versus burn guards in summer 2015) is nice tech.
When the Warrior leap on you (headbutt), dodge. You will neutralize a big condi burst they have.
Another tech, would be to take chaos line for the trait that give reflection on manipulation skills (and reduce cooldown), so you take the manip heal with the rune of herald (or revenant not sure which) that give resistance on heals. With alacrity you can have a lot of resistance with that, but you loose the well of eternity for your team mate.
Kiting Warrior for Mesmer is really easy. If you kite them at 600 or more, you will be able to kill them fast.

MMR should get reset each season, but it take more than 2 month to stabilize it for all.
They should reset MMR once in a year or when they screw everybody MMR like in season 2.
Nerf MMR of new PLAYER please, this is a major problem for the real average MMR players.

A new player from season 2 got carried with his artificial MMR (90% win ratio). Now, with the fixed season 3 match making system… his opponent teams are better than his.
I think they need to nerf new player MMR now.
They need to reset MMR for all, since MMR got screwed in Season 2 by the bad match-making and by the new players that have above average MMR in Season 3 but are not worth it.
This is another cases of MMR screwing for people who care about it.

This is the hardest part of any bunker build/class.
To get the best of support even if people are DODGING it.
When I can’t do my job properly, I abuse portal play and do 1v2 all game. It’s easy with all the conditions hate the build packed.
It would be way harder if people would play more power dps, but so far… I will still play support mesmer since the condi hate is REAL with it compare to Tempest or Scrapper.

Play with Water sigil, water runes and the heal on swap.
This will bring your cleric healing at a greater place. I understand the tech for retaliation, but with my suggestions your will be way more useful in team fights (where bunker shine).Since druid nerf, cleric mesmer could be the healer that can AOE cleanses for friends (without stacking two tempest).
My input for the Knight builds:
Use sigils on crits (blood + air) on both setup.
Use vampiric runes.This build seems more bruiser like, (sustain on points) and so you need to kill fast with great survivability. Those options would open more sustain + pressure to achieve this.

cleric – my team thanks me more than using the knight when i took the role of team support only.
so in pugs its really hard. how many time i type DONT MOVE HEALING ON POINT. and still ppl jump even when the fight is over….. go figureso yes in group fight cleric is better. in solo knight can work too.
thief is our counter either way if they are good. as they can prevent you the support while you focus on your self sustain.
Well, I tried it yesterday night.
It’s better than my other bunker build/classes for soloq. Better than tempest.
I played with null field, portal and Decoy. I link both ring of conditions removal before the start, saying I go mid and put portal on home.
I use my 3 rings of conditions removal on points. Easy enough, people on points are condi cleanse.
But… I use retalition and soaking damage and haste on illusions, I don’t use any alacrity traits (If got 2 illusions, bring 1 more). Spam more illusions when shattered.
This is great… Sigil of water is mandatory, so you can heal while body blocking for your mates. Playing bunker is hard. People think it’s easy… but they don’t know what a good bunker is.
Actually, I am back on my bunker mesmer to get a lot of great things. It’s not the same that it was in season 1…. but, wells and alacrity are not that great anyway.
I miss conditions damage… but… well, no biggie.
BTW, I tried rune of radiance… and man, you where right about it.
Well, I’ll complain. Druid team and personal condi removal was cut in half and its power build was neutered. The only viable option left is to go ADST and condi bomb the kitty cats that begged for Druid nerf.
We can’t remove conditions anymore, but we sure can put them out. Enjoy!
There is a great trap survival condition build for druids. Try it up.
It will auto-stack with all the other conditions build.
Bruisers and healers shouldn’t exist. If they are going to exist, they need to be massively toned down because they’re completely stupid since HOT beta.

You basically pushed ahead of most people very early on in the season and then tried to queue at non-peak hours.

Pip lost for your “party” member is normal play.
That way, nobody try to fake DC to not have a pip lost.
It’s the people not in party, but in group that if DCed will not have PIP lost.
I’ve seen people offering gold to none-party players to DCed so they don’t have PIP lost.

Losing a game at 400 is way more rewarding for your MMR than losing a game at 20 points.
It’s directly proportional to your opponent team. If they are lower than average MMR, you can get a big drop of MMR for that.
It’s why all competitive players will still try to lose the match with big numbers no matter what.
Working his MMR is hard, take time and dedication. If anyone is AFKing, those same guys will speak of MMR hell in a week or two.
We really need to get a report feature for AFK, for the instance we do report for botting.
We really need to get people with high dishonor stack to play with themselves, even if they have 10 minutes queue time.
Punishing the player bases for TROLLS that can’t play a match because a bad start, is BAD.

I did suggest in another post, to put new players at 25% (so they get a small chance to goes out of mmr hell), that way average veteran players don’t get genuine or not new player to mess their games.

DDOS attacked is common when you face top players team.
Not all players do it, but many with old leaderboard top 300 were doing this.
It is easy to take IP from TS servers and everybody and there mother used pvp ts in the pass or in the present.
I will not say that Named competing with you will bring you Lag. But, I have a short list of players who do this to me each time.
I don’t lag with my fiber network. I don’t lag into Gw2. But when I faced those “blocked” guyz, I will lag to nothingness.
Basically, they know they will get a hard game and want to win, they control their botnet access and send the ddos to the IP they copy and pasted from TS.
The BIGGEST JOKE EVER, is this 4 years later that this reality is showing to the crowds where it’s common knowledge happening into rank queue at top tier playing.
To protect your IP, don’t TS, don’t used forums that show your IP. Or private forum operated by spvp esports players.

Unlike power damage, which rarely works outside of some very specific builds, condition damage is usually dangerous enough with a single stat investment, so Condi/Thoughness/Vitality and Condi/Thoughness/Healing combos can easily create monsters.
Balanced condition amulets need to have points asigned into “filler” stats or offer combinations which are far from ideal, basically because they need less total stat points to work.

Your logic is only good considering the other amulet option.
If sPVP stat system would be like PVE or WvW, pure POWER build would wreck any Mercenary like stat system.
The thing is, even Berzerker amulet is not pure power enough to do that.
Hand holding spvp stats for the sake to balanced the game is bad.
A good balanced game, let the community find the solutions to meta build in giving the options to do so.
Adding or removing amulet is not options.
Options would be to have the freedom to build like we want.
Of course, some optimal build would be meta. But at least, the players could try to counter it with OPTIONS.
Now the only options is to QQ on forum, because Anet did removed our OPTIONS to balanced the META by ourself.
We need FREEDOM to do the META and counter it.
The PVP team should not add or delete amulet, they should adjust cap, soft cap, diminishing returns for sPvP stats.

With burning runes (i did prefer Flame Legion for the burns on hit), invention line is better than alchemy.
Egun with Alchemy line is usually enough condi cleanses with purge gyro for spvp.
Since sigil of leeching is bug, I play generosity so it helps.
I did tried tool line, it was more burst but was not able to not die a lot… so even, if the burns stack are great, not on stats panel after the game is done.
Note that in firearms, I use Heavy Armor Exploit to cover condition and have heal thick with swiftness. More tanky means being able to help more my teammate when they need peels, heals, cleanses or rez.
Harder to 1v1 vs heavy cleansers classes, but fine versus those who don’t.
Depends on play style, I guess.
But… I still prefer hammer than p/p so, I meta build is much more better in that regard (for spvp at least).
Hope I did give some thoughts on fine tuning your wvw build.
Before they changed trait-line in pre-hot patch, engi where really good for a lot of different playstyle and build with Rifle and Pistol.
They wrecked the synergy and survivability because they thought about scrapper to be the beast of survivability (melee weapon).
The easiest and lazy thing DEv can do to bring Engi at a place, not lame again is GOING back to our Original trait line that had great synergy with Rifle and Pistol.
No other core classes got redesign for their elite… only engi.
If they can’t do a REVERT of trait lines, they should upgrade all skills of rifles and pistols/pistols and shield. Because since the traits that where good with the weapons are not possible anymore (need too much trait line to do the same than before pre-patch), engi is simply BAD compare to Scrapper.
Nades and Bombs are the kits that got DELETED by the changes… but they where the kits that was making rifle and pistol the underdog of all gw2 weapons.
Since, those two kits are down to nothing…. the core weapon set of engi are jokes.

Now, pray that you have 2 shout tempest or switch to have two versus heavy condi team. (even that is not enough, cause we need to stack them in team fight versus the condi burst, but our other point can’t hold vs condis)
For the people giving bad reputation to bunker with words like (lame, boring, heal bot), know that you are the culprit of the condition meta and we will suffer it until something is done about it.
You don’t like the playstyle, fine… don’t play it. But make sure that some people like to bunker your LIVES up…

Ill save the forums the balance QQ. I wanted to say bravo to the dev team for some precision on the nerfs to rev and mes. Despite my absolute detest for these two classes (Necro main since launch) I am glad the team decided to shave and not sledge their knee-caps out from under them. Hopefully we see some more shaves in general to all classes, all around. I would prefer slow little balance tweaks to everything, all around moving into the next season.

CORE classes to HoT Specializations are not balanced.
All classes and specialization should have a viable power, condi and bunker build that have counter class/build and are counter class/build to another.
This would been balanced.
From my perspective of the 10 hours I did put since last patch (i played way more before), the condi builds are better now than ever. And we had a condi meta in season 2.
So, actually, we don’t have enough options to counter a condition meta, it’s why the condition meta will dominate again.

I have the same problem but it is easily overcome by trio q with other good MMR players.
MatchMaking should put 10-9 togethers vs 10-9 togethers like it was season 1 ranked.
10 or 9 should never be put with/against 3 or less.
I don’t think season one worked that way. It MMR averaged teams that is not the same as saying on a scale of 1-10 both teams had all 9’s and 10’s. Lets make a theoretical scale of 1-5 for player ability. I believe that season one would say 3,3,3,3,3 is the same as five,5,2,1,1 or at least the matcher would green light that matchup. Surely the team with the two 1’s is at a huge disadvantage yet the teams average are the same. I’m out of here if we go back to MMR averaging personally. I dont wan’t to be forced to group with anyone outside of a fairly tight MMR window.
Well… for me it was. I was never put into group with noob in season 1 nor season 2. But in unranked (even with thousands of wins into it), it do.
The matchmaking in unranked do what Trevor said.
This matchmaking is aggravating, because no one with thousands of game wanna play with people with less than 500.
But it do.
If you can’t acknowledge a problem, you simply let it go… and so, the player base from 2 years ago, is not the same as today because of this.
When you will get into the thousands games range, probably you will see that coming.
