ESL has been in control of the EU 2v2s for a while. In terms of 5v5s, I don’t know enough of the EU scene well enough to get people to join. Doesn’t ESL have weekly 5v5s or did those end when Pro League launched?
EU weekly cup for ESL is still a thing.
NA should QQ about not having that because of PRO League. EU still run it with PRO League.

It sounds like you want profession-specific MMR? In order to do that, we would have to enforce a profession lock upon queuing. There is another thread advocating this idea with the benefit of removing profession stacking.
If you do something, make something hybrid.
Like you can’t switch to another current class of the roster to prevent class stacking. Hard to sync up. I guess a toon drop down list into the game server, would help to removing the time it take to load three times before switching. (one load for a switch should be enough!!!!)
The other part would be, you could switch with a profession-MMR to another profession that have a lower mmr than the one you queue up with.
So, at least, we would not be punished to lower our own MMR to switch to something more viable comp-wise.
What you want to prevent is having low mmr roster switching to high mmr one. For that, locking class switching it not the solution. You need to simply add a new validation class switching (disabling higher mmr toon on class selection) based on MMR to remove the abuse while giving the flexibility that you provide us. (i really appreciate and vote for Anet for their “intent” to let flexibility be something in the game).
To resume:
You need to ADD a new class switching mecanics into spvp. It need to be done into the game server only, to let you compare MMR and other class of the team.

3-4 threads today trying to blame current issues on pay to win and im convinced that there is a huge misconception as to what that actually means.
Pay to win implies that you must buy some gear or other item to compete, this is not the case in GW2, period. Even if you assume that you must have HoT specs to compete, which is highly debatable after the patch, that still doesn’t require you to buy anything other than the actual current version of the game.
Having the most up to date version of the game isnt pay to win, its common sense. No game has ever balanced any game to allow for every spec in its history. New classes and specs always change things.
Oh and there are viable specs from pre HoT, they may not be meta, but they are certainly viable. In fact you could argue that the most recent patch made that even more true with some old specs getting talked about again that may or may not require HoT trees to work.
Bottom line, can we please just dispense with the P2W nonsense now… please.
You are a classic niche MMORPG players. This game type is dying. The new generation is about MOBA. It’s more than 10 times popular and played around the world.
This game category is still growing strong numbers (passed the 100 millions of players).
The next 10 years will get the golden era of gaming and will destroy any Wow numbers. Major game like Streetfighters V is coming with competitive MOBA mindset, like hundred others that are in development right now.
We are going strong for 100 millions of players.

Because they don’t want to give players too much toughness and vitality with maximum power (damage).
It seems that they cap the combo of those stats to 560.
We will never see healing power, toughness, vitality with more than 560 stats on the same amulet.
Soldier amulet did gave some build awesome damage with too tanky stats. This was removing the Cleric amulet from the support roles.
But… Anet need to normalized HP because guard, thief and ele got shaft by the removal of vit and toughness ammy.
Then giving more scaling to healing power, because it’s lack luster more than before (removing settlers and celestial did cut the condi support build)
Because of the meta shift to selfish builds that can counter conditions easily.

The only viable condi counter were DS Ele and Bunker mesmer (two etherals fields removing condies on pulse). Both had been trash. Anet want a condi meta now.
Sad… but meta is now decide by Anet nerfed… and it should be decided by players choice and builds.
Now, two players in unranked that both have 500 unranked games played will score better than a player with 500 and a player with 200.
Can you please elaborate, why you taint your match making algorithm with other variables instead of only using your glicko2-based mmr?
From an outside perspective, it looks like you don’t trust your mmr, that it will provide us with good match ups. What else could be the reason to include games played?
Why should a player with 200 matches not play vs one with 2.000 when the MMR system rates them equally?
They need fallback parameter if they can’t find a perfect MMR match in the next minute.
I am fine to play with people who put thousands of games into sPVP like me. It’s frustrating to play with people with 500 or less games when we have 5k+ in it.

Smite like game are coming to the market in 2016. They claimed next gen MOBA gaming where action skill-based gaming (dodge mechanic) are shown into a third person view.
The Heart of the Mists game need to get reviewed and classified over MOBA website.
So, we can expose our game to a player base of 200 millions of people compare to the MMORPG crowd of the 20 millions.
Like MOBA they could open free classes/specialization over week basics than you can pay to unlock them with gem/gold.
But, I guess it’s their initial idea and that the MMORPG players are simply into a glorified Early Access (pay to play BETA).
Bunker guard were not replaced by better bunkers (tempest or chrono), it got destroyed by condis and CC. Because a bunker guard plays with clerics, it has 13k health and cannot afford to be CC-locked or condi bombed.

But the mace trait, when fully healing power up was giving insane AOE heals. 2k+ / dodge. Now… well, with sigil of energy nerfed, bunker guard is completely dead (at least to heals team —→ tempest, druids, scrapper better).
The only thing that could help the build, would had been Rune of Mercy (since every meta build can clear his condi now) to rez up… but well… they kill that too.
Bunker is a thing of the past. Now, it will be Power or Condi.
HoT specialization destroyed build diversities. Now HoT balanced patch, destroyed a role/archetype of the game type.
Prediction for the next few years:
SPVP will be shooter like. (conditions build will get removed because of QQ) Type one button and aim correctly to kill your opponent. GGWP.
Anet don’t like to nerf REV because it’s their STAPLE for HoT.
So they prefer to DELETE 30% of their “vanilla” game to balanced it.
Actually, you are right REV condi put more burst condis than engi condi or anything condi classes… to the point they need to BUFF condi necro to make them “viable” for the same slot on the group.

With added autoattack damage they need to be able to stand in the fight more and may NOT need the ferocity, we will see. Just imagine the evade spam WITH a tanky ammy, kittening broken.
I can’t see many thieves standing around auto attacking when CC is tossed around left and right and aoes blanket points almost incessantly. Also an evade spamming thief with a tanky amulet isn’t doing damage, even with auto attacks. I really don’t understand the point you’re trying to make lol.

With the new changes, bunker thief will be BUFF more.

Why can’t we merge the eu and na servers so that the player pool is bigger? I know that might result in latency issues but isn’t there a system that estimates player inputs that could reduce that discrepancy?
To reduced latency you need server space on back bone. Those server space cost much more than any other space around.
New York is directly connected to different back bone of EU.
This would bring less latency than playing from West Coast to East Coast.

Actually it’s probably worse for everyone except the legend players. I’ve been solo queueing and i have a pretty amazing win ratio right now. im 15-2 and the 2 losses were due to disconnects.

Well it is, because other legendary that queue with smurf (or legitimate friends that have less time to play) will get automatically match with full solo lengendary players.
This season, in my mind, is done. I say experiment now so season 2 can be great.

Notice how the most played classes are the least complained about.No, it’s because they either:
1.Simply won’t die unless you 2v1 or more them.
2.stealth quickness rez someone. Can’t cleave if the rez outpaces the cleave damage or target something stealthed.
3.Ability resets. I don’t get to reset all my cooldowns so why should they?
4.AoE fields that grant their side alacrity and the opposing side slow. There’s no counterplay to this and is especially nasty combined with ability reset.
Yes buff to reaper is bad, but worst thing ever is a bit of a stretch…

You seem to be missing the whole picture here. So I will try to be more straightforward with this…
1. I dont care about the chronobunker really!
2. I care about what be left once you nerfed it!
3. Outside of that spec, mesmer has nothing else viable to play in group pvp!
4. You say mesmer deserve low dmg, since they according to you have lots of “support and utility”, wich is not true! Also with that argument alot of classes need their dps nerfed to mesmer level aswell, since they bring even more of what you claim here…
5. Its obvious to me you dont play the mesmer class. If you did you would understand what be left for them in pvp after chrono nerf! And why mesmer is forced into the chrono… There is nothing else. The class is almost dead, when it comes to viable specs for pvp. And mainly 1vs1 a good mesmer can handle, but in those group fight (and most pvp in this game revolve around team play), they be a waste of space outside of that chronobunker spec!

Team PZ did created that comp. They win sure but will loose versus Celestial COMP.
Whatever you think, Chrono DPS have some great time right now. It’s just harder to pull and need a real mesmer, not someone that start playing it for bunker mesmer or condi mesmer this summer.
Zeromis can handle 1v2 on far for so long (with a dps build), that we win all our matches with him.

Bunker mesmer is easier to kill than Tempest or Druid. Yeah… people that know how to do it, can attest the same. Tunneled visions players all blame bunker mesmer, but that build is not the root of the problem.
It’s REVENANT OPness that forces everything power dps based off meta. So, those guyz did switch to something being able to cope with REV. Mainly… druid, tempest and mesmer (and somwhat some scrapper).
Bunker Chrono can’t heal properly. It’s so bad… to heal we need the regen we get. That’s it…
The changes to shield and WoP were enough to bring us balanced. Quickness stomp or rez is the reason why bunker mesmer is still there. After that… Tempest, Druids, Scrapper bunker build will be better because of group HEALS.
So… yeah… mesmer will basically became thief like after balanced patch and scepter would not be enough to compensate. (necro, engi and rev conditions burst are greater, condi mesmer need more burns or another damage conditions to pull out properly)
(just to mention, that your valid concerns are still valid, even if i think dps mesmer are something in spvp with proper pilot/expert mesmer)
Solutions for the quickness nerf for bunker mesmer:
Healing power should scale more on our heals.
The trait that shatter heal should AOE heal and scale better with healing power.
So a cleric bunker mesmer could be viable.

I know a great DECAP engi that abuse the bunker meta going on far all games to make 1v2 to wins more than 70% of his matches. For him, it was easy to do but took more than 2 hours to do so. (well a month playing 30 hours a week = 120 hours approx)

Please consider that MMR is subjective to with whom you play. In case of people mentoring other players, their MMR would be “underated”. Many great players have bad MMR because they are doing the “pig” work. Showing Noob how to play the game.
I think that MMR should be visible but only for the carrier of it (private). So he can know if he progress in the “social” ladder and adjust accordingly. Putting that number for all to show, would worsen the gap between hardcore and casual way worse than it is.
I can name you many TOP players right now, that have good MMR because some top players “mentored” them for a while. With a visibile public MMR, many would never had done so.
It’s a Myth or a Urban Legend to think that MMR equal skills. MMR equal your social positions in the game. Do you play with good players, winning match versus good players? (or not) ( I know many people who had bad old leaderboard rating that can carry game versus top players )
There is people that can carry a team for a week or two (myself included) to the 100-200 leaderboard positions (old skill based system 2013-2014) without being rated 100-200 consistently (because they try new people out for their guild, mentor some new promising pvp prospect, want to really give a player a chance to prove his worth).

But YES, skill based leaderboard are way better than grind based casual jokes of a competitive game. GRINDING LEAGUE is bad. Actually, it’s easier for low MMR to get to Legendary than high MMR player.

A match full of Hot Join Heroes on both team will usually consist of a glory point range from 200 to 300 for all players, loosing the game by 30 points.
When it happens, it’s like a constant trash dance from headless chickens.
After it’s done, people usually think:
“Phew, that game was so trash, we simply run to kill or cap but nobodies did keep the caps up!”.
The strong opposite of this, is where you get a perfect match 500 – 0. Now you know that when you cap it, you keep it up… and so, 3 team mates are bunkering points while 2 rotate to even the fights.
Glory scored matters, if you come over TS and brag about it all night, I know I don’t want to play with you again. So, the other day don’t wander why you are on block list.
(and many decent players do so, as well)
So, if you plan to progress into your spvp journey, make sure that TEAM SCORE matter more than your Puny Glory Pity Score… and don’t brag too much about it.

Warrior has some of the highest DPS, down body cleave, and rampage is still a reasonable skill.
Warrior works better in smaller fights, and is a counter to necro.
While most classes lose effectiveness in smaller fights, warrior gains it.Similarly to a thief, you have to build a comp with a warrior in mind. It is not plug and play like the mindless top 4.

Perfect balanced would be to get for each classes a viable bruiser, power dps, condi dps and bunker build.
So when META is changing, each players can tweak his build to be viable again.

Yeah, it’s not the greatest meta, Anet did kill variety with the specialization patch (removing attribute from trait line, forcing 3 line destroying build that work on 4 and removing traits that was making build good enough to compete versus meta) but you have counter to all build at this page: www.metabattle.com
Tonight, Mallyx condies invulnerability will die, the build will see less play over ESL and some DH will come back on the scene.

What about diamond skin, nullfield and mesmer CC?
If they kill the ele the mesmer can pick him up instantly and if they pressure the mesmer the ele can pressure them.
Do it yourself, take two condi REV that know how to play together… your mesmer will not be able to rez, nor you will be able to null field or stay in it (because sword 3 + shinro heal is pure DAMAGE destroying you right there).
I play bunker mesmer for longer than HoT (yeah chrono is great but…) and we don’t do enough damage. The burst from two REV is so brutal you can’t even think what you will do versus it.
The new finishers are less bugged, but yes.
Quickness stomp (even starting stomp after doing quickness) seems clunky. The stomp should be faster, but the finisher appear like it wasn’t quickness.
So we got the impression that the stomping is faster, but the finisher appear like it wasn’t.
Newly formed team with a great comp and players that can compete on AG level, is looking for more to grind leagues and work toward AG tourney.
We train from 9 EST to 11 EST PM each nights. We choose 4 or more nights to scheduled our time, that way it’s easier to find quality back up for your spot.

We have a fantastic roamer DPS specialist acting like our cheerleader to make us laugh and wins. Since he did main thief for three years and he was compare to Caed and Toker, I guess he is still looking for his niche into meta. (Druid sound best for him so far) I hope you didn’t got trash talk by Wasted, but he never do that to his friends/teammate and people he respect. (pure emotional dps players… cheerleading for the best)
We have a notorious soloq Necro Main player that know how to play all necro builds since launch and be able to win most of his 1v1 fights. He is funny to play with and got a great attitude. Remember loosing to Rogelio?
Hosting 9k games, 4k games on guardian, i did play all bunker, support and bruiser builds since released. I play bunker mesmer but will shift with the meta at high level on any best build to “rez and stomp”, CC and helps my mate peels or heals. Funny… some condi warrior berzerker with CC can kill most meta build.
They simply need to comp with builds that are not meta (because high level players find it easier to abuse REV OPness).
A burn and CC comps with 2 berzerker can progress on the league with breeze… people don’t expect 10k burns a tick. All conditions AOE cleanses bunker are dead (except some tempest that don’t play standard with Soldier runes).
Just turn off chat. I turn mine off so i don’t have to read QQ from people like “we got thief games lost”, “hey thief reroll plz” etc.
Many people block people that can’t communicate. I do when I lost or win if the guy can’t follow simple strat made over Team chat.
You better block the annoying guy than block us all… you are loosing opportunities to play with decent players.

After 4k games on bunker guard, the april 2014 patches making DD ele better than us (for damage pressure) did change a lot my POV.
Give me any bunker build that work (to rez and stomp with survivability) and I will use it.
A real balanced game would give a workable bunker build at high level on all classes.
Stop trying to make all bunkers nerfed to the ground. Another build will rise up anyway.

CONDI REV is a counter to all classes. Meaning, that many viable build (marauder, berzeker) are DEAD in the meta because of REVENANT.
Mesmer Bunker, is a bad bunker (can’t hold point like Bunker Guard or Staff bunker ele) that can’t kill anyone, even in 2v1 (ie. 2 celes vs high sustain).
Mesmer bunker had been played by all notorious mesmer in the last 3 years and nobodies cries for that. Learn to use your unblockable skill on shield 4, CC and condi burst at the right time.
Main bunker since 2012. Give me back my Bunker Guard, my Shoutbow Warrior, Decap Engi (last quarter 2013) or my Staff Ele Aurashare (2012 build).
The idea of Divisions is to let players play into the same division.
It’s not perfect now.
But please accept that if you play 80 hours a week, that you will be alone for approximatively 3 weeks before having someone to play with.
I did unranked matches yesterday to try some builds to counter condi rev. It was fun, relaxing… queue time fast. Yeah I played versus Chaith, but you know MMR give you decent matches even in unranked.
Since you are on top of the ranked queue, why doing more? Take your time bro, at Christmas you will be Legendary anyway… showing that you have more time for a game than for your life.

I did play with Wasted and Slin yesterday night (notorious high MMR players in NA) with two more. (btw, we are forming a competitve team and need 1 condi rev and 1 tempest that know what pvp is… and have great leadership)
Our full premade was compose of 4 Sapphire and 1 Emerald (me, 2 hours a night play is enough with a family to care).
Our only lost matches was versus Zilent team (some AG team I don’t remember the name, perhaps they were not the complete crew) that where 4 rubies and 1 sapphire.
First match lost at 367 – we gain 2 pips.
Second match lost at 411 – we gain 2 pips.
Now… since many High MMR players are queuing into higher divisions, people that play decently but doing it more lightly (like 2 hours a day versus the 8 hours guyz) got an advantage to have great MMR.
Mind you, we did win many pips versus other random ruby guyz. So… mainly having a high MMR give the chance to decent players with less time on their hand to play with good players that have high MMR too, but help to evens out League Progressions.
I will ignore all QQ, haters and whatever. I encourage anyone with high mmr to related positive story about MMR and League.

Loosing game to make your MMR bad is match-manipulation.
Forming group with anyone, is simply forming group with anyone.
It’s Anet that need to tuned up the MMR system. 4 Diamond + 1 amber should get ruby team or more… not soloq of amber team.
Top team need to play, top team playing versus casual players/teams is really bad for the “Healthiness” of your player base.
