Are the support team normally quick to reply? I just sent in a ticket, asking them for a refund.. I bought 3 lots of the same GEM transaction, by accident, due to the pay-pal screen not loading on my IE properly TWICE.

I only wanted one purchase, but it made three go through… I hope they are quick to sort this out, I have played GW2 since close to it’s release date.

The window for support response is 3 days (72 hours) meaning they try to respond within that time frame. If you do not receive a response by then you can post your ticket number in the “3 Days & older” sticky thread.

Nope. Names are first come, first serve, and Arenanet is gracious enough to allow for accent marks, umlats, and other non standard english characters for naming, and allows for first and last names (or even first, middle, last if you want)

I’d be okay with permenantly banned accounts having their names up for grabs again, but otherwise, get creative. An account in good standing losing their names because you can’t get creative is weak.

People go on breaks, it may be a several month break, but they come back and when they come back, they want their characters as they left them. A good way to make sure that players never return is to make them lose their characters or character names after going away for awhile. Now they got nothing to come back to.

That’s why I said “temporarily” and not “permanently”. I know my post wasn’t very clear but point is that if anyone takes your name you will get it back when you start playing again.

And then you would have a bunch of players QQing all over the place that their name was taken away from them because “Bob Warrior” logged back in. “It isn’t fair because I have been playing that character for 500 hours and now my name is gone!”

There is no way that this would work without angering a bunch of people. Under your idea what is Anet supposed to do? “You selected a name taken by an inactive player. It may be temporary and you may lose your name when that player returns to the game. You will then have to pick a new name.” I don’t see that happening and I don’t see Anet dedicating resources to support such an idea. Plus define inactive player, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months?

Lastly, Anet has made their stance clear on names for “inactive” accounts and accounts that have been banned. They will not release those names under any circumstances.

I think the OP has been answered several times already including links that show Anet’s policy on not freeing up names on dormant accounts. Therefore I feel this thread has run its course. No need to beat up on the OP anymore.

This is very disappointing to hear. They did hire programmers for their website, right? And I would be very interested to hear why it is “impossible.”

My main is a Mesmer and it is a lot of fun. I’m only speaking PvE wise. I don’t do PvP or WvW. Of course I leveled my Mesmer before the trait changes. With the problems getting traits it may not be so much fun when leveling.

It is fair. They chose to join the military, and they know as a consequence they may be gone for 18 months. That is no basis for them to be able to hang onto a name that is not in use for over a year and a half. Not to mention, I know plenty of people in the military who still game. They’re not in constant warfare 24/7, simply because they are deployed.

And if you’re gone for over 2 year due to an illness, I think you have bigger things to worry about than losing your name in an online game.

LoL. So if you for some reason lose your internet for say 8 months you would have no problem when you come back and find all your names gone? I doubt it. You would probably post throwing a fit that you lost your names.

Just be more creative and pick a new name.

A lot of things the community “cries” about over and over are also things other members of the community don’t want and have voiced as well. So who get’s to decide? Anet is the one that decides. None of these topics are new and Anet has seen them on the forum over and over and I’m sure they reviewed the responses on both sides of the topic. If you think starting yet another thread on topics that have been beaten to death will make a difference you are wrong. It isn’t like Anet reviews the 50th thread on say raids and thinks, “Wow, raids, we never thought of that before. We should think about it,” you are wrong. Only time will tell what Anet decides to do.

Also keep in mind for a lot of mats you need to craft level you can place buy orders under the buy now price and they usually fill rather fast. I think gw2crafts.net uses buy now prices. However, especially for lower level mats buy orders can be filled quickly. That will save you some coin as long as you don’t mind waiting a bit for the orders to fill.

As for dueling it has been discussed many times and that dead horse is beat into the dirt. You can use Google to find threads on the topic (Oh, I just noticed you have a thread on this topic a few months ago already, so I’m sure you know it has been discussed here many times).

I agree I think it would be cool if you could mail items like boosters and such to others as a gift. I have a bank full of such items I’ll probably never use. It would be fun to mail some XP boosters, crafting boosters, WxP boosters, instant repair canisters etc. to the new players I run across.

I can see them not being sellable on the TP, but it would be cool if I could give them away.

The only thing you can do is submit a support ticket and give it a shot. Anet has been known to provide support for certain errors in the past, for example people that bought duplicate unique ascended rings and what not.
