The High Cost of Fashion

The new system is nothing more than a more streamlined transmute system with one big advantage. All those one time event items, skins, awesome weapon appearances, and such you can now transmute onto every character you have without having to buy them again or acquire them again. The method for changing appearance of items hasn’t changed much. With the current system you need transmute stones/crystals. With the new system you use charges. So as an RP player that likes to change your looks not much has changed. You can either keep certain sets of armor and weapons in your bags/bank to switch up your looks for free or use charges which are the equivalent of transmute crystals.

For example I don’t really RP but I have sets of gear for dungeons, PvE, and WvW. They all look different. I keep them in my bags or bank and can use them free of charge, pun intended. If I suddenly I want my dungeon gear to look flame kissed like my PvE gear, great news! I don’t have to buy another flame kissed set from the gem store. I can use charges, the equivalent of transmute crystals now.

So as you can see, it hasn’t changed as much as you think. The term for the item that changes appearances changed from stones/crystals to charges. The major benefit is not needing to have multiples of the same skin to use them on alts if I want. With the current system if you want to transfer a skin to an alt it actually costs more. You have to transmute it onto a white item to make it account bound, then transmute it onto your alt. The new system eliminates that completely. Much more fashion friendly if you ask me.

How about a refund of double skins?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JustTrogdor.7892

I have a lot of duplicate gem store skins. I bought them for alts and have been using them for months. I don’t expect a refund. Those skins stay on my alts and I won’t have to use charges to keep them on my alts. If my duplicate skins were refunded and removed, I would then need to use/buy charges to put them back on my alts. Again, I’ve been using those skins for months now, some almost a year. I’d say I got my money worth.

As the legendary Weapons is going to be Account Bound with April Feature Pack, can you please make them unbound as well?

Those that have an Legendary Weapon on one character can’t use them on another because some classes can’t use that weapon. Like on this case, I have The Dreamer on my thief but I don’t play the class anymore and can’t use the short-bow on my warrior(main character now). So that way we can trade them and make it much easier to get a Legendary for that specific class that you want to play it.

If that’s the way it’s going to be ignore me, and Thank You!!

At some point you played your Thief, made The Dreamer for it and played it. Why in the world should you be able to unbind it and sell it now?

I’m not asking to be able to unbind an Legendary Weapon at any point. I’ts just an idea to make them unbound(one-time thing) when the pack comes out so players can make a better decision on what Legendary Weapons you want to have based on what class you really want to play, so you can actually use them as well.

So you are asking to unbound it, but you are not, so you can trade it in for something else based on the profession you want to play at the time?
yes

I’m thinking that when you made your Dreamer you really wanted to play your Thief, no?
yes

How many do overs do you want?
one time, when the pack comes out.

Sorry, it should not work that way.
clearly you are not on the same boat as I am.

Just be happy, your Dreamer will be account bound soon so you can use it on other alts you feel like playing at the moment or when you change your mind again.
I know, but I feel playing the warrior class witch I cannot use the Legendary Weapon short-bow that I have as I already said.

Sorry for you luck. It won’t happen. Next time you make a legendary make sure it is for a profession you want to play.

Feedback Thread: Say goodbye to Armor Repairs?

Bad players are probably not wanting to get better by default that is what makes them bad. Armor repair fee or not isn’t going to change that much. If anything I see the removal of the fee beneficial to those that do harder content. I know when I have done higher level content I have a tendency to get beat up a bit. Waiving the fee will simply save me a handful of silver and not change my attitude about how I play. I’m not going to go running around like a maniac smashing buttons all over the place just because I won’t have to pay repair fees.

Actually that has more to do with the history and the methods of the different manufactures of the two different products than trying to sell more hot dogs or buns.

Do you honestly think Anet would be willing to sacrifice a huge chunk of sales? Transmutation crystals are more than likely their #1 selling item, and probably their highest grossing one. It’s an item that is constantly in demand.

Because some people around here seem to think that Anet/NCsoft is a non-profit organization. They don’t understand that the purpose of a business is to make money.

A statement that is terribly wrong. People are going to challenge you and call you out. You are not doing your cause any favors by trying to play the victim now.

If you are a casual player like myself you have to understand that not everyone is going to be lavished in gold and other currencies. That is just the way it works and has worked with every MMO ever. The more you play, the more time you dedicate, the more likely you are to have better things and more game currency. Not everyone is entitled to everything just for logging in.

As a casual player you have to understand that you are going to be limited in what you can have or afford. It will take you longer to get what you want and some things may be out of your reach. The most prized items are there for those that dedicate more time to playing.

Nope sorry, the welcome to MMOs and Internet argument is tiresome, old and out dated. The anonymity provided by the Internet is not an excuse to treat other people poorly. In fact if you think such things are okay I suggest you wait a few years once you mature a bit and perhaps you will then understand that it isn’t appropriate, necessary, or desirable.

How do you know that? Wait you don’t. If in some odd case you do know that as fact I’d love to see your data to support it. I know you like to talk about thread views. I’ve already tested and found that if logged out and viewed a thread it doesn’t increase thread view count. I even cleared the forum cookie and viewed threads I never viewed before while logged out and the thread view count didn’t increase. The thread view numbers you are so fond of are most likely not accurate.

But since you like such things, the thread view count for this one is over 5,000 views (which is probably not accurate. see above) . I would think if it was such a big deal that people didn’t cash in their items before the vendors left there would be a lot more posts in this thread about it from those 5,000.

why shouldn’t we ask for ANET to at least put these into that merchant that has not yet arrived….I have yet to see a valid reason other than “it sets a bad precedent” to what?

Because the people that found out they had inventory slots with items that are now worthless and deleted them. How is it fair to them all of a sudden? I get it, you are in the “It is all about me and what I want,” mindset. If they bring the vendors back I guarantee you there will be a thread similar to this but it will be, “I was told they were junk so I deleted them.”

Your going to stick with this argument until you die aren’t you.

Yes because it is a very valid argument. If they bring the vendors back people that deleted items based on the fact that the items are now junk would be unhappy. Think about it for a minute. I guarantee you many people have deleted those items once they learned they were worthless.

I don’t quote the rest of your stuff because it is all a bunch of numbers about thread read counts and speculation based on that. None of which negates the fact that people may have deleted these items based on learning they were useless. You have made it very clear that your point of view is what is most important and the impact it might have on others is not important to you.

Oh, and I can’t verify but I think thread view count only includes those logged in that read the thread. So all those that came to the forum and read it while not logged in will not show in the count.

Edit: As a test I logged out and viewed a few threads in the Audio forum because I never read them. The view count did not increase after I did so. I logged back in and the same threads still had the same view count as before I viewed them. I don’t think the view counter is accurate at all.

Again, we will call him Player Bob. Player Bob logs in Tuesday after a few days off and sees the vendors are gone. He looks into it and sees an official message stating that these items are now just taking up inventory space. Not happy because maybe he didn’t know in advance he goes ahead and deletes these items as per the message saying they are now worthless.

Now say Anet brings the vendors back. Player Bob was told those items were useless so he deleted them. How do you think he will feel now? He might be angry because he deleted items he was told were now junk and suddenly they are not junk anymore. So how do you please Player Bob and all the others like him that did the same based on information provided by Anet?

Arguing communication issues is one thing. However, this is a case that what is done is done. There really isn’t a way to fix it because doing something to appease the, “But I didn’t know,” crowd will in turn bring about anger from other players that followed the information provided from Anet saying the items are now junk. They logged in found out Anet said they are garbage items and deleted them.

Again, if they do bring the vendors back what happens to the people that read the official message about the vendor being gone and deleted their items? Now you have a whole new group of people unhappy. At some point Anet has to say this is what it is and I think they have already.

This kind of reminds me of the Dragon Bash fireworks event for getting those helms. After the event ended people started complaining, “But I didn’t know,” or “I wasn’t paying attention to the news.” They asked for the fireworks to happen again to please them for their lack of paying attention. The thing with that was people that did make the event went out of their way to make sure they were there. The people that missed it said things similar to this situation, “What would it hurt to add more firework events?” Well because people that made sure to be there for the event and spent hours to achieve it would feel angry as well if they did the event again to please those that didn’t make the effort. Adding more fireworks later would have devalued the effort of those that made the event.

This in my mind is a no turning back scenario because if they bring the vendors back they are going to bring along a whole group unhappy because they deleted their items based on official word from Anet.

Quoting for truth.

If you read the official forums, why would you have deleted your items? Wouldn’t you have USED your items….that’s a silly argument…I mean seriously…the people complaining are because they didn’t read it and didn’t get a chance to use them…and you are arguing that someone who read it wouldn’t have used them either…and would have deleted them instead?

Perhaps people left with those items read that there was no way to turn them in after the patch and then deleted them to free up space. So, bringing vendors back will make those people unhappy. I am very confident that there are people, many people, that once they noticed they could not trade those items they deleted them.

So we have:

1: “Bring the vendor back because I didn’t know. I didn’t read the forums.”

2: “I read official Anet post I couldn’t use these items and that they are now worthless so I deleted them.”

So vendor comes back to please as small group. Great how now about #2. Oh wait because you don’t care because you are all FYGM.

So in your mind which party is more important? Be honest.

Again, silly argument, because if they then came to the forums….to see why the vendors are gone…odds are they would have come to this forum first….and seen other people complaining about the same thing…before deleting their items…and unless they were listening to you guys who keep saying “delete your items, you snooze you lose” they should be keeping their items just in case ANET changes their mind.

Haha. That is all I have to say.. Oh wait. Haha

Be honest.

Basically, there is no valid reason not to leave one in the game for a limited time.

Again, if they do bring the vendors back what happens to the people that read the official message about the vendor being gone and deleted their items? Now you have a whole new group of people unhappy. At some point Anet has to say this is what it is and I think they have already.

Let us play the game and know that we have a tiny chance to loot something by playing the game.

Both of my precursors dropped in game and not from the forge. So yes it happens.

What would it cost you, or any other player, for them to correct this?

Irrelevant. Policy is policy.

I’m not even getting into the rest of this. That is their policy, that is what they’re working with. It is their chosen direction. It doesn’t matter how easy or hard it would be. It doesn’t matter if it hurts or helps anyone. They made the decision and you don’t like it, but you don’t make their policy, so that really doesn’t matter.

Policy can be changed. It happens all the time. I have no dog in this fight, but I don’t think it would be unreasonable to allow the vendors to stick around a bit. However, even if they have the vendors for an extra 2 weeks, people would complain when they get removed.

So what about people that read the official post and deleted those items? The vendors come back and those people are now unhappy. At some point Anet has to say, “We told you,” and they did.

My only problem with SB is that people don’t seem to know that there are pre-events that need to be done to spawn it. People seem to think that if they stay in the swamp during the window that SB will magically spawn. I wish they would implement some other way to get people to participate in the pre-events. I get tired of doing it solo.

If you look at the OP it is just another, “Down with camp train!” post and does not have much to do with world bosses. It is so transparent it isn’t even funny.

Another case of someone too worried about how other people play.
