Quite frankly, my death rate has gone up about nearly 500% without sword ‘2’. Everytime I get caught by a CC, I eat about 3 seconds worth of zerg damage, and no, hard to catch is garbage. If you wanted to nerf the kitten sword move, how about separating WVW and SPVP changes?

I don’t expect any dev response, obviously.

Put roll for initiative on your utility bar,perhaps? Or maybe shadowstep, or use withdraw, or steal?

If your death rate goes up 500% by loseing 1 specific mechanic, then the problem is probably you being carried by an overpowered skill and your whole post actually becomes a pretty good argument as to why the nerf was needed.

It was 5 people I knew from an opposing server and couldnt do it using any other healing skill. It tipped the balance.

Good thing this game is balanced around single skills only right? God forbid you have to take into account an entire build. So your one skill outperformed the other heal skills for one given situation that is was designed for (phantasm builds). Madness!

Most phant builds don’t have the clone production to maintain 3 with 5 enemies around.

I’m sure it’s even more broken in a 1v1 phant spec.

Where did I say I activated it? And it has nothing to do with upping clone production. High clone production = Higher clone uptime in outnumbered situations = more healing.

Right here you are implying that the signet is helping you have more uptime in your phantasm build, otherwise that statement has nothing to do with this thread and I have no idea why you made it:

Please also explain HOW the higher clone production from the signet means more healing?

My point is I’m not running a phantasm build. Nowhere did I say I was. A phant build doesn’t have nearly the same clone production as a shatter build.

The signet is not what gives the increase in clone production. It can., in a burst, which might be good 1v1, I said the build I ran produced more clones vs a phantasm spec.

Did you even look at how the heal works? If all your clones are dead, you don’t heal at all. So when your clones die, you have to constantly replace them to continue healing.

In case that is too kitten complicated for you to understand, you have to produce a lot of clones to be able to maintain healing uptime in a 1vX situation.

So, in a 1vX situation, a low clone production build, such as a phantasm spec that relies on its illusions not dying to do damage, it wouldn’t be able to sustain itself using the new heal.

I honestly have no idea how you didn’t manage to grasp the point I was making.

Thief: Dodge CnD, don’t let him stealth. If he gets it off dodge and pop protection. (2300 is glassy by itself, but pretty good when paired with ele heals + High protection uptime)

Necro: Dodge signet of spite and corrupt boon. Meta necro build can apply all but one of the conditions in the game (All of them if they run chill on blind) with it. Corrupt boon will eat a boon ele. Scepter and dagger aoe’s are telegraphed and apply a decent amount of bleeds. Staff marks all look the same except for the Fear, which looks like he’s pushing his staff at you.

Deathshroud conditions aren’t as threatening as his weapon set/utility condition pressure, but if you can help it, don’t let him get his immobilize off. A good necro can make very good use of an immob’d enemy.

Something I have seen missing ALOT in these builds is condition removal. Even more so with the newer thief meta of P/D plex, How do any of these builds handle condition builds at all…

Smite condition on a 16 sec CD, and CoP on a 48 sec cd, combined with a 2k heal every time you use them. Dont bash it if you haven’t tried it

Also, if you bothered to look at my post history at all, I am not new to this profession. I have posted several roaming builds in the past, and tried ALOT of things that most people haven’t. I have much more respect for shatter mesmers who roam solo than Blackwater mesmers.

1k’ish hours on mesmer (slightly less than half my total playtime), and shatter v shatter fights is definitely the most fun fight I ever had on the class.

And blackwater is just so kitten easy I can’t bring myself to call the mesmers who play it “good”, unless they’re like Pyro and play it 5v1+.

As someone who has tried all classes in pvp, they’re all easy to play. Engi/Ele are just the highest APM classes.

I don’t try any harder to play Engineer than I do mesmer/guard/ranger, I just like it more.

I’m pretty sure there’s a roaming build using full celestial + might stacking around here somewhere.

Celestial gives a good mix of defensive stats, decent precision, and relatively high crit damage, but low power and low condi damage, which is supplemented by might which Engi can stack well.

My list in order:

Thief
Warrior
D/D Ele
Mesmer
Ranger
Engineer
Guardian
Ele with other weapons
Necro

Getting out of a sticky situation requires speed. The faster a class is the better chance they have to get away. Secondary to that is they have to be able to soak up damage that is hitting them from behind. The exception to this is decoys and stealth since they can effectively avoid damage altogether.

There is a HUGE drop off after Ranger. I would say so big that few ever manage to escape overwhelming force.

Depends for engineer. If they have bombs, + rocket boots, its pretty easy to get out of sticky situations.

Even rocket boots makes it relatively easy.

Of all classes at the moment engis have, by far, the least condi removal. 2 every 15 seconds attached to a heal.

It’s even worse than mesmers who have the convenience of being a power class that’s able to use lyssa in addition to their mantra or nullfield….

It’s very depressing to see our survivability continually nerfed when it’s the weakest aspect of any viable engineer build by a long shot… We’re the only class that must choose between a stun break and condi clear.

Mesmer condi removal is getting a pretty huge buff Dec 10th, too.

You definitely hit the first change I considered making, which would be 5 out of virtues and into JiB. The 20% damage is attractive, but in practice I’m not certain it would be worth taking.

Being upleveled, I don’t have a good sense of how much combo damage I can dish out after popping an aegis, but I do occassionally get some hits off with aegis up (though I run in a small group or zerg currently, being sub-80). Any experience with this trait (Unscathed Contender)?

As Harbinger said it’s only good during initial burst or when your opponent is CC’d (Popping aegis via virtue). It’s very situational, and you’d have to have the upperhand at the start of the fight, or coordinate with a group.

One thing you may find lacking in outnumbered fights is your ability to pin effectively.
If you can find 5 trait points to take Justice is Blind, it helps so much with getting pins off.

I personally prefer Sword/x (usually Focus, but w/e floats your boat) over Hammer due to the mobility for roaming on guard. I will admit Mighty Blow is one of the best weapon skills guardian has, though.

Its not much but in the dec 10 patch we are supposed to be getting this.
Alchemy 15 – Transmute. Increased % chance from 8% to 100%. This effect can now only trigger once every 15 seconds.

It would be pretty tricky to balance. I’d probably view it as passive condition removal as I’m basically going through kits at all times.

At 3 kits it’s already as strong as Ranger’s Empathetic Bond, and it doesn’t have the trade off of damaging your pet.

At 4 kits it’s way stronger. The ICD per kit would have to be above 10 seconds to be balanced.

E: Of course not everyone runs 3-4 kits…So it could be both weaker or stronger depending on the person.

Leg Mods and Transmute are definitely pvp oriented traits, and I rarely find myself needing more condition removal than healing turret gives in PvE.

Leg Mods is much more reliable than Transmute, as movement impairing condis are not the only kind.

Getting a little sick of seeing so many Mesmers and Guardians in wvw, both awesome in roaming and zerg play.

Maybe time for the balancing guys to look at these two classes and tome them down a little?

Mesmers are hard for zerg play, not “awesome” for it. Most mesmers are only set up to play minor support roles like dropping veils and null fields. It takes a pretty good amount of work and skill to play a mesmer that can do real damage to a zerg.

Not really, PU shatter with Veil and Nullfield. Traiting glamours only requires an extra 10 trait points for CD reduction (Which you don’t actually need), and you can get blind on glamour easy as you’re in Illusions anyway.

There really is no excuse for someone in WvW to not be able to craft Ascended Weapons and Armor.

You get the mats from killing the Lords.. you get the mats from taking the camps… you get mats from salvaging the hundreds of greens and blues you compile while collecting bags. you get heavy bags with the more mats. You get gold.. Not to mention all of the maps for WvW are littered with the gathering nodes you need for crafting as well.

To say you don’t have the means to get these things is ludicrous. To use the excuses that you don’t zerg, you like to scout, or you use all your gold on siege is just an excuse. If you really wanted to get the Ascended stuff, you’d take 30 minutes or more and aim at the mats you need.

I have 32 Dragonite Ore.

I play 3+ Hours of wvw a day.

I’ve crafted no ascended.

I have 19 stacks of Empyreal fragments.

I have MAYBE 10 Dark Matter. so much exos from wvw rite

You have gold and karma right?

Take 3 gold and go buy some very cheap Exos on the TP. You can find some for under 1 gold. Salvage and you’ll find some dark matter…… I spent 5 gold the other day on this as I needed about 10 dark matter to finish my Ascended Weapon. Bought 6 exotics, salvaged and ended up with 15 Dark Matter.

Take a quick WP to Orr and grab some Jewelery Boxes with your Karma. You’ll get more karma, gold, and Obsidian Stones. Now go take your stacks of Empyreal and craft them into Empyreal Stars…

I mean.. C’mon. Again, just excuses. I will admit that the Dragonite Ore is the one thing that can be more tricky to pile up on as you need to take Keeps to get that. I play WvW for far less than 3 hours a day though and can easily jump in and take 2 or 3 keeps with a group that is already doing that very thing.

Except, having 4 alts, I spend my karma on trinkets. 42kx4x2 because one build is boring.

I roam, I don’t take keeps, maybe one every week.
